  • I lived in Jakarta Indonesia for an entire month and this is how much my apartment cost. The apartment was located in an area called Taman Anggrek in west Jakarta. This residential area is very new, modern, and located next to three malls! There was no shortage of amenities here, join me on my apartment tour and find out if it was truly worth the price I paid.

    Thanks for the video Alex. Insightful and informative as always. As you have discovered, Jakarta Selatan (south) is where I prefer to stay. As for the monthly cost of USD 667 for an apartment, I always prefer to stay somewhere less expensive in a south Jakartan suburb with a more local setting, which always enables me to meet and get to know my Indonesian neighbours and experience/immerse myself in the culture and daily Jakartan way of life. But that's just me. Aku cinta Jakarta, Indonesia semua dan orang Indonesia buanget. Looking forward to your next video Alex. Cheers.

    actually taman anggrek residence apartment has its own lifestyle mall below the apartments but due to the pandemic, i think they postponed the opening. And about the quick elevator, it is becoz the complex has not many people living in it yet, it is considered as a brand new complex, compares to the neighbor : mediterania garden residences which is much more crowded (with cheaper rental monthy fee, of course) and already stood for at least 15 years, i guess... but if you rent an apartment with the similar facilities (regarding the wifi issue) in central or south jakarta, it would be much more expensive. I dunno how much kristian pay for his apartment.
    But in south jakarta such as kuningan, there are lots of exclusive boarding house (low rise building) around 3-4 million rupiahs (all in including laundry), the minus thing is .. they are located in high density complex (more noises, not in the main street). Your window view should be the others' roof houses, LOL. The plus thing is , lots of food vendors and minimarts.

    If you’re planning on going to Yogyakarta next, consider travelling this August in order to be able to try the currently under construction Airport Rail Link to the brand new airport.

    Great video A.W! That was some massive buildings. haha... Even though there connectivity is great, but...
    Me - Being in a big city in KL, well, I'm not in the heart of KL exactly, not a fan of the concrete jungle to be honest. We've this place which is approx. 25 - 35 minutes from KL city center, for about $630/- a month, it's about 2,400 s/f all in, huge balcony, duplex, 3+1 rooms, 3 baths, 2 parking lots even though we only have one car, been here for the last one & a half years, End of June will be the end of our yearly contract. Not sure if we will continue staying here or move to a smaller place, and try saving some money before we are allow to travel again (hopefully) as we're planning to visit Eastern Europe.
    Even as a Malaysian myself, I'm very sensitive over the loudness of the mosque (s), as I'm sensitive to loud noises, therefore I do try to stay or find an area where we're far away enough not hearing their 5x prayers. That is probably one of the downside, however, the good sides outweigh all the cons..
    Come visit when things return to some 'normal'.
    Well, stay safe, stay happy & well. See you in your upcoming videos ☕❤

    • @alexandwhite
      @alexandwhite  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes i cant wait to visit malaysia when everything is somewhat back to normal but i'm actually used to the concrete jungle so i don't mind the big city life and living in a big highrise building. Just wish there was better wifi haha

    • @leneekay1
      @leneekay1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexandwhite Yeah, I think the entire can't wait to get back to whatever new "normal'', at least.
      You're a young man, I guess the concrete jungle lifestyle definitely suits you. I can see that 😉.
      As for me, I've had my time in the hustle & bustled cities for a good chuck of my life, I need a little 'calmer, & quiet' for a change. 😅
      Guess we all go through a different phases in life. Most importantly, we learned a lot from life, as the journey continues.
      Happy traveling, stay safe, stay well, keep doing what you're doing. ❤
      Cheers from KL.

    Well, in Jakarta there are various kinds of apartments.. I own 2 apartment rooms in Kalibata and I rent it for about 2-3 millions/month (one of which is studio and the other is a compact 2-bedroom) and the service charge+electricity+water is less than 1mill/month haha but it’s not exactly like yours there since mine a big big complex of apartments and not very exclusive (but not slummy at all😂). But location wise, it’s near to the commuter line and a bit central (though it’s in South Jakarta) and have 2 malls within walking distance.

    I have never stayed in an appartement, or rent an appartement.😁. maybe around 3 million per month. It is different from house rent, if the house is generally 3 rooms, the most expensive is 2 million per month depending on the location and type of house..😁 enjoy and live in Indonesia 🙏 ..

    Next time try to stay in south jakarta which i wud suggest in blok m area,, there is la maisson located in jalan barito,, or in pondok indah area near pondok indah malls there are intercontinental hotel and brand new pondok indah residence apartmen which price sud b around taman anggrek residence, because night life in blok m, pondok indah is much better than staying in west jakarta or even central jakarta like around grand indonesia. Sidewalk is good, near mrt, busway..
    In my opinion staying in west jakarta like one y r staying, is much crowded with heavy traffic jam and feel like staying in singapore because they are more chinese, while in staying in south jakarta is like y are living with indigenous people..

Would a singer be able to practice an hour or two a day in those high rises without getting hassled by the security guards? Any vloggers over there up to doing collabs with a philosophical/spiritual channel from an actor/singer/comedian? Are bars booking live talent again yet?

    Indonesia is not known for its WiFi speed. But some hotels have great WiFi though, but residential area/complex is clearly not an option for speedy internet connection

  • @miloinindo
    @miloinindo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Jakarta is not really a walkable city no matter where you live. The pollution, heat, filth and smell will make walking around miserable. Meanwhile, an uber (grab or go) is dirt cheap (a couple dollars will get you basically anywhere in the city).
    I stayed in Taman Anggrek Residences for 2 years. The key is not stay in towers C through F but to stay in Beech or Azalea. You will pay a bit more, but they are MUCH nicer and the small increase in price is definitely worth it.
    Where you should stay will depend mostly on where you will be going the most though. Central Jakarta is generally better than West Jakarta, but my office was just behind Taman Anggrek. The biggest issue for me staying there was the traffic. It basically takes an hour to go anywhere. It doesn't really matter if it's 2km or 10 km away, it will be an hour.
