I want to point out that the narrator could have been multiple people, as all clones have the same voice and it says 501st journal, indicating the journal is a collective from multiple clones
Also, they probably didn't consider how old the clone would be if it was one person. They just had Temura voice it all. Still a funny game theory though.
@@haydentravis3348 as superhuman soldiers even at the age of 62 or so rex was still an effective soldiers so there is no reason to see why other clones couldn't still be effective soldiers, and while book of booba fet is old booba, remember that he is completely unaltered, the regular clones were altered to be superhuman, and then accelerated his decline was that of what Jango would receive
Two lines that still continue on in my head are the Empire voice over being like "We've lost control of another command post. Take it back." And Jango during Heroes vs Villains "One hundred, two hundred, three hundred, four hundred....you guys are gonna make me rich."
Sooo many quotable/memorable lines. I say that second one a lot with my brother playing all kinds of games, lol. "You need maintenance" from the droid engineers when dropping med/ammo packs is another fun one. 😂
Because its broken. It would be extremly hard to implement as it is. Space battles in the orgional online are a cluster fuck. Everyone ignore fighters and just b lines to the bombings. And sense u can't really defend against a bomber because they can just stall forever your wasting time. And ur better off just going offense.
In Elite Squadron you could land on the ships, actually destroy them and take a drop pod before the capital ship blows up, greatly increasing your chances of victory.
Pandemic really nailed the feel of Dagobah, it’s described as a focal point of dark side energy, sort of like Ilum in a way, which is why Yoda hid there as he was so strong in the force he needed to hide himself in the dark side, the one place the sith wouldn’t think to look
You missed the best part about gravity in space: On Space Mygeeto as the clones, once you're running along the side of your venator, you can actually fall super far and survive by landing on a frigate. You can walk all around the frigate too and even fix it with a fusion cutter.
The magana guards were originally supposed to have their electrostaffs, but they had trouble getting them working. The Royal Guards were supposed to be their counterpart for the empire faction, but were cut due to limitations.
I play a lot of ultimate pack and I see the reason magnaguards don't have the electrostaffs, whenever I play as them I put on the song Butcher Pete because they just fuckin shred the enemy.
The biggest let down about EAW was that the Clone Wars always struck me as the more fascinating conflict, whereas the Galactic Civil war had the better story. Shame we never got an official Clone Wars version of EAW
KOTOR 1 and 2 as well. I don't usually like RPG games at all but these two are among my all time favorites. And Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Academy, and the Revenge of the Sith game... damn this era really had some good shit.
I think the main reason why Dagobah is so eerie and unsettling is because none of us expected to actually use that area as a battlefield. Think about it, we see it in empire strikes back yoda’s hideout but have you ever really been like “hey let’s fight a war here”. Dagobah is the last place where a battlefield would be which makes the player think “maybe I shouldn’t be here, something just isn’t right”
Probably the first draft of the level’s audio log, they probably wanted to put in more excitement for Boba Fett’s inclusion considering his popularity. Crazy to think years later in Bad Batch we actually got a battle of Kamino as well
@@GanzoHasashi1911 they could've still added Boba without introducing him in the cutscene. They could've had him come in towards the 2nd half of the level
I did some data mining on battlefront and I found out there’s a lot of extra stuff outside of the walls on dagobah that implied the map was actually bigger. There’s also a texture used, or meant for the cave, and the contents of it is a brick wall with ornate markings covered in vines. Perhaps implying the cave was an overgrown Jedi temple or the map had ruins. This is the only map with significant details outside of its borders btw.
Really? That's awesome. I actually keep finding out new things and might do a third BF2 Iceburg one day. Would it be alright if I included this (crediting you, of course)?
@@ciudad1696 sure thing! I’d be honored, lol. Just refer to me as “Naisaga” btw. I’d recommend looking into the beta side of the game and also out of bounds. You’re video actually is inspiring me to look into the fighter squadrons ai and the psp versions for left overs.
@@ciudad1696 Oh I have a question. Are you going to do an iceberg on Pandemic’s clone wars game? The one where you are primarily in a tank. Because not only is it a very obscure game still, but also doing some data mining for it and looking through the official strategy guide to read the dev interviews, I’ve found some REALLY interesting things. From cut and altered maps, unused textures, and even unused vehicles! Even more interesting is a surviving model from the early alpha, only appearing in the concept art and finally an entire cut story. More exposure on this game could end up revealing more too!
@@naisagathefirstdestronmand8559 I mean, I could. I'm about to reach a point where I'll have to stop making videos for a time, but I might can try working on it
@@ciudad1696 Understandable! If you end up deciding to do so, I have a discord account under the same name you can reach out to me on. I’m on it pretty much all the time.
This is likely because in the lore, the stormtrooper armour prevents them being killed easily; when you see them being shot in the movies and series, they (usually, according to the canon) are knocked out since the suit absorbs the blow of the blaster bolt and spreads it across the body, thus necessitating further shorting if you want to ensure the trooper’s death.
@@AnthonyLopez-lb2bd Yes, but it's ONLY the Rebels. Not Droids, Clones, or Imps. I've never understood that either, but it feels intentional. If there was a team in the CW era that did the same thing, I'd think maybe it was a missed bug for a certain AI type. But no.
In regards to your point on "Cut Heroes", there was a Cut Hero Skin for Luke Skywalker (Episode IV Farmboy Luke) that appeared in the manual for Star Wars Battlefront II (2005), but not in the actual game. DICE ended up adding the exact same skin into the reboot Battlefront II and the Community Manager, Ben Walke, referred to it as "the Prophecy has finally been fulfilled." "The prophecy" referred to the original 2005 game Manual. Nice little detail I thought you would be interested in knowing!
Also in the demo versions there's one more skin hero or 2 for the matter Those belonging to stormtrooper like and han from a new hope, and likely were meant to be the heroes or maybe a scrapped hunt mode for the death star in place of Ben Kenobi. But you can actually access them in the files unlike Ben kenobi
For the old clone theory. Even at 70 clones are genetically engineered to be in peak physical condition. They are literally the perfect humans. Wouldn’t be surprised if they still fought till there late 70’s
I think the answer for the narrator still being alive and fighting is that he was probably turned into one of Phase 0 Dark Troopers that serve as the Empire's enforcer unit. Whereas Dark Troopers are traditionally droids (though the big ones can also be mechs), the Phase 0 ones introduced in Battlefront weren't, they were cybernetically-upgraded Clones, chosen from the most effective veterans, and enabling them to fight on despite their advanced aging.
@@justindestroyer1 They're in all of the OG Battlefront games, and their lore is explained in the Force Unleashed expansion for the Star Wars Saga Edition TTRPG, and the Essential Guide to Warfare.
@@justindestroyer1 Phase 0 Dark Troopers are the ones from the Battlefront games. Dark Troopers were introduced in the Dark Forces game, with three Phases of design. Phase 1 was a basic battle droid with minimal armour, a vibroblade, and a riot shield. They were made of phrik, the same material used for the electrostaves carried by Magnaguards, making them resistant to Lightsabers. They also had jump packs. Phase 2 were bigger, and able to be worn as armour by human pilots. They were equipped with assault cannons and arc casters. These models are what the Dark Troopers in _the Mandalorian_ were based on. Phase 3 were even bigger, and packed with weapons, including seeker missiles, wrist-mounted blaster cannons, and rocket tubes in each shoulder. Then Battlefront introduced a fourth variety that was kinda like the Phase 1 and 2, but explicitly a human/clone that the player you could swap to at any point. These were given the retroactive lore that they were just Clone Troopers upgraded into cyborgs, as a prototype for the ones in Dark Forces. As such, they were labelled "Phase 0" retroactively. Dark Troopers in Battlefront carried a "blast cannon" (also known as a shotgun), and a light repeating blaster as a sidearm. In Battlefront II, these were switched out for an arc caster and a commando pistol.
I agree with the eerie feeling on Dagobah part. It doesn't help that it has a similar look and feel to the Halo: Combat Evolved story mission "343 Guilty Spark", where you're dropped in a foggy, swamp-like area, only to find that something has been killing and infecting The Covenant and UNSC Marines alike to become zombie-like creatures known as The Flood. Although the cave with Darth Vader's breathing was also spooky, I also found it fascinating because I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be an Easter Egg referring to Luke's journey to become a Jedi in Empire, where he went into a cave on Dagobah and fought an illusion of Vader.
@@Suckit626 The only reason I already had is because Backwash from Halo 2 had the internal working name of Dagobah and it's a H2 multiplayer map set around the same sort of building as at the end of 343 Guilty Spark, but on Delta Halo. They reused the animal background noise from the level in it too.
Hot take: I prefer the idea of the clones knowing full well of order 66 and having the motivation to do it be "do it or you're a traitor." Early seasons of clone wars even hint at this like when the geonosis worms take over the clones, after they catch Barris, they say "if there's one thing we clones know how to do, it's catch a Jedi." The fact that this bit of information overrides the literal mind controlling parasite is more fascinating than "oh they just got a chip in their head making them do it."
The chip itself doesn’t make them do it, the chip only stops them from *not* doing it, if that makes any sense. It inhibits their free thinking so they obey their order without question, or remorse
This is pretty dumb. They are all Clones. Literally a copy of one man and therefore would not have their own personalities. This is mentioned in Republic Commando.
@@rickastleysrevenge3258 A large majority are completely identical clones, its just some of their own personal experiences slightly change them in terms of personality, along with what corps they serve and how their generals treat them
@@rickastleysrevenge3258 That is a very poor understanding of Republic Commando. Personality is not 100% genetic. They start similar but experiences make them different. We see this come up all the time.
There’s actually a Legends book about a group of clones who refused to follow through with Order 66 and deserted. I can only assume this was the inspiration for the Bad Batch, but I guess they had to make the clones in that “defective” so the chips wouldn’t work on them
On the Jabba’s palace map, the rancor can glitch out and almost infinitely duplicate drops that fall if he eats a Gammorean Guard or enemy player. Super cool to watch
Nice catch! This glitch can be manually triggered by the player: clicking the "respawn" pause menu option before the eating animation finishes will do this!
The same is possible on Tattoine in hero assault mode in a single corner of the map that you can jump into, which will kill you then your spinning body infinitely spawns bacta tanks.
My brother and I accidentally triggered that back in the day! Before the days of TH-cam and the omnipresence of the internet, I never thought to see if others had pulled it off. Glad to stumble upon this years later, lol.
The reason the narrator lived so long was most likely because he became a Dark Trooper, the first phase of Dark Troopers where surgically modified veteran clones making them cyborgs, so his life was probably extended via cybernetics along with some other clone wars buddies. This can be read in The Essential Guide to Warfare.
I always figured that since they were Mandolorian, AND a veteran designed from conception by the Kaminonians, they just stayed in shape incredibly easily. Hell, sprinkle in some Star Wars technology, where the average human had a lifespan of 100 to 129 years old, and a biologically 70 year old veteran still fighting isn't that crazy.
@@FalonGrey it's possible, although isn't life length like that reserved for light side users? Since the light side of the force is naturally healing. Also, your profile name is awesome, Falon Grey is the most underrated Jedi.
@@satrethuel_productions Nope, the average Ligh Side Human Force User lifespan was typically around 200 years or so, provided they die of natural causes. I was talking about the average person's lifespan. And yeah, Falon Grey was awesome, sucks we never got a full release of Battlefront III, instead of just the PSP games.
@@FalonGrey that would make sense given the sci-fi setting and advanced medical treatment. Regarding Falon Grey, he is my favorite Jedi primarily because X2 found him and instead of being repulsed by a clone of himself he accepted him as his son. Even if he was naive in the end he is still my favorite. And yes, a pity we never saw him outside of Elite Squadron. Battlefront III would have been a great game if it was finished.
Simply just the first tier, with all the maps, ships, game modes, etc... you compare to the amount of content it has to games nowadays, you just can't believe how did they do it on 2005. This game was way ahead of it's time.
this was a great video however, theres a couple additions i’d make to the iceberg: 1. Detpack throws. If you hold down RMB/right trigger and do a small back and forth shimmy, you can throw the detpack huge distances. I remember in online play on PC, detpack throws were a huge aspect to multiplayer and along with the healing supplies engineers had which made the class one of the metas for multiplayer. 2. Death Star hidden pyramids. On the Death Star map, to the right of the room that contains the laser is a collection of pyramids in the void. You can access it by a section of the wall in the cell block and walking on top of the roof with the jet trooper class. 3. Dagobah backrooms. My memory is fuzzy on the specifics but on Dagobah, theres a section on the map on the right hand side of the wall when your standing at Yoda’s hut. If you follow along the wall there’s a clump of branches you can jump into and if you do enough rolls, you’ll clip into the other side of the map into a large area that has tons of small ponds, piles of rocks, and creeks that loop around the entire map. If you just walk forward, you walk off the map for what seems like an eternity.
Regarding 3, another commenter here claims to have datamined Dagobah and discovered a significant area outside the map that utilizes a jedi temple texture.
My biggest gripe with this game as a child was always that when you played Geonosis instant action, that the clone commander unit was a phase 2 space marine and that they did not take time to model a phase 1 clone commander. This only bothers me because in the Kamino mission of rise of the empire you fight a phase 1 version of the clone commander unit and I always thought it would have been awesome if that was in the game when you played Geonosis instant action.
Actually yeah, I never ever thought or noticed that in the Kamino mission, it did always bother me about the clone commander on Geonosis, but since it’s a marine with fully unique armour it’s not as bad as him having an actual phase 2 helmet for example. The phase 1 rocket launcher trooper but with bright red or bright yellow markings would be perfect for a phase 1 commander
They actually DID have a Phase 1 Commander model too, it was cut from the first Battlefront game (along with the other Officers). The design was basically that of a Red Arc Trooper similar to Captain Fordo from the 2003 Clone Wars micro-series. Why it wasn't added back into BF2 though is weird to me. If you've ever seen the "A Clone Apart" machinima, which was made by one of the devs (I think) you can see that model running about in battle during the first episode.
The idea that there is absolutely no gravity in space is a common misconception. If you're close to a planet, its gravity will still pull you regardless if you're in its atmosphere or not. That's how the moon orbits the Earth, and how the Earth orbits the Sun.
Yeah, but wouldnt you stay In orbit and not fall if you are orbiting a planet when launched from a ship and not experience gravity from your point of view?
i always had that eerie feeling on Dagobah too, every time i played on that map, i felt like something was staring at me through the fog and the map itself had a very confusing layout
The last one really spooked me. I think the idea of you being a soldier and you have to follow your orders wether you like it or not is the most horrifying thing ever. Knowing that your actions will cause a galactic empire and the fall of the republic you once knew is genuinely terrifying. I actually prefer this idea over the "inhibitor chips" they added in later down the line. The inhibitor chips seem like a light hearted excuse rather than you being bred for combat and then being told to brutally murder the very general you fought alongside with and just rolling with it because there is nothing you can do. Being told to murder the very person you trusted with your life is genuinely horrifying not to add that the man in the story starts realizing that going to war and dying is the only purpose in life he actually has and there is nothing he can do about it because he was made to be a soldier and nothing else is so depressing.
@@chungle_down_bim923 it reminds me kind of like the movie Avatar from 2009. It may seem funny but just know I believe many of the humans know they are millions of miles away from earth and they know what they're doing is wrong taking over the Navi by force but they have no choice because what are they going to do? Quit? They can't because then they will have no where to go. They have no choice but to fight because that's the only thing they can do.
You're forgetting order 66 isn't the only order. Right before 66 is order 65, arrest/eliminate the Supreme Chancellor. These clones knew they'd eventually have to do a ton of things they might not personally agree with but they steeled on. Also pre-inhibitor chips, not all clones chose to execute their Generals. Some units like the Republic Commandos chose to ignore the order outright, and most who did execute it hated their Jedi Generals. Don't forget, not all Jedi were good leaders, and many got unnecessary amounts of men killed.
The chips make more sense logically to me, as you would want to make certain that as many troopers as possible actually obey the order instead of ignoring it which not only makes that Jedi survive, but now they have most of if not all of the clones serving under them at their side instead of fighting for the Empire. The inhibitor chips aren’t something like mind control, all they do is *inhibit* the clones free thinking which assures that they follow all of their orders without question
In terms of the concept in isolation, I prefer them knowing. But in the story at large, it doesn't work with the rest of the plotting. The clones would never do it. Dictators are terrified of charismatic generals in real life because the armies will side with the general they served under and not the actual leader of the nation. The soldiers who live are loyal to the nation second and to each other first. A charismatic, kind, good general is like your grandfather. We know that the Jedi who fostered that relationship most served closely alongside their men, which _vastly_ boosts loyalty. Napoleon returned from exile and his men immediately turned on France and became his men again precisely because of it. Napoleon is the ultimate example of why Order 66 only works with the chips. Every main Jedi was a Napoleon to their troops. Palpatine was that ballsack in office. Realistically, "Execute Order 66" "Did you say Order 65?" "No, 66" "I heard 65, we're on our way." "NOOOOOO!!!"
22:32 Me and my brother actually found a more interesting version of this glitch years ago that I've never really seen anyone ever make mention of. Basically there exists a method where you can, with a shuttle/transport ship, do the landing and takeoff sequence over and over again in a loop, even outside the hangar. You see, the takeoff animation actually raises the ship upwards and forwards a small amount each time, and the landing animation obviously just looks for ground to hit, meaning you can adjust your elevation and position at all times if you keep the rhythm correct. Essentially what this would allow you to do is land anywhere outside the hangar in a space battle. The top of a star destroyers command bridge, near those big beam lasers auto turrets, on top of a rebel transport. It took forever, but if you kept up with the process of continually landing and taking off in space you could touchdown anywhere you wanted on the map. It's not a super crazy thing to think about now, seeing as this game is basically just a modders passion nowadays. But doing that shit back on the PS2 was wild.
The amount of time I played on this game as a kid was insane lol. Was the first game I ever really made online friends on and still talk to one to this day so it’ll always be special. Thanks for uploading this!!
It's probably pretty well known but on Kashyyyk with a Jet Trooper you can get reeeally high up the map. As I recall it's the trees that lookout over the enemy's command post.
I never really thought about the identity of the narrator but you're right that they were there for most of the major events of the series. I always thought the clone troopers were interesting since they were a major part of the story but were phased out and forgotten afterwards.
Another funfact: The original version had the clones in white, cause the game was developed in the Episode 3 making. After the suddenly change of the clone army for more colorized clones, Pandemic tried to implement those changes in every map in the game, but by the end, they just stand with the Migueto, Kashyck and Corruscant soldiers, so they mix them up in the 501 army.
I discovered with my brother the trick to walk outside the capital ships when I was a child, good memories of us fooling around by seeing who could do it first and reaching the engines instead of playing the match, sometimes we saw on the other's screen that we had got to the ledge and instead of trying to do it too we would go and kill the other to then crash our ship, to re-start our "race".
During space battles, you can use your repair tool to bring the shields back up on your capital ship. You have to stand by the broken generator and repair it for like 3-5 minutes but it will come back up full strength.
On Tatooine, you can walk on top of the sky box if you fly high enough. When I was a kid, my brother told me there were Acklay walking around in instant action on Felucia and it always freaked me out. I remember trying to find them and actually having dreams about it.
I'm shocked. I've been playing this game 10+ years and this is the first time I see this xbox dlc. I'm PC players but still, as a die hard fan of the game, I should heve know about this.
Honestly still bummed I never bothered with DLC back then, had been hoping a GotY edition would have it... Then that 3 would... Then that DICE was gonna be faithful to the IP... I had hope back then.
I'm shocked too... I used to play BF on the PS2 back when it came out. A couple of years back I found it on the Xbox store and bought it for nostalgia, but I didn't noticed that it has extra content till I watched this video.
22:35 - It’s actually possible to perform the take-off/land technique to get out of the hangar entirely and “hobble” across the space of the map. When I was a kid, I would actually do that, land on the Acclimators, and walk around on the frigate looking up at the dogfights overhead. I miss that about old games. Certain things were just a little less polished with a few more tears in the screen which allowed players more opportunities to gently break the game and explore the “hidden features” or even “secret realms” of a beloved game.
Damn, I think it was the first game I really got into, I've spent so much in it. Good times. Thank you for that! You've covered a lot, but there is still a lot of things that could be talked about. Like areas/shortcuts that weren't intended to be used by players but were heavily utalized in multiplayer, either by glitches or parkour, cheat codes, map easter eggs, game's culture- popular rumours, urban legends, "aayla being op" in heroes vs villains etc. Ahh nostalgy...
This video is fantastic, Battlefront 2 is one of my favorite games of all time (over 400 hours on steam, lmao) and this was fascinating to watch. I appreciate the effort you put into this. Love the ice cube video as well!
I'm so glad you liked it! I always l9vw to hear someone enjoy things i enjoy. I've got a part 2 if you're interested, some more interesting stuff there
I don't like how the clones were retcon'd into having inhibitor chips as opposed to being loyal to the chancellor/emperor cause then you won't get that chill that goes down your spine in moments like at 21:30. The best way to be sympathetic to an "evil" soldier is to believe alongside them that what they are doing is right even though it's wrong.
I will always have a distinct memory of this game. i never spent hundreds of hours playing it, but my first experience with games in general was when i was in the hospital for a couple weeks with pneumonia. I remember being old enough to be excited they had a playstation with this game and a few others, but not old enough to know why. i was so happy to be playing it while my family was worried about me dying. Felt just fine playing battlefront tho , one of my best memories as a kid was playing it while having nothing else to do in that bed. Then a while later i rediscovered the game when i was a bit older (still wasn’t old enough to know how to play properly) and after not having seen this content in years, it brings me fond memories. thank you!
I never knew about the secret dialogue, and hearing "Now I know most of you haven't seen a woman in a few months, but let's be professional about this" had me in stitches.
A thing that I liked to abuse in the game was if you play as Dooku or the Emperor you can choke an enemy and while still holding the button tap the other button to change force power to lightning, to effectively choke and zap your enemy at the same time
I played this on the ps2 when it first came out and remember being disappointed that the dlc was only for xbox. It's nice to finally play it on the classic collection.
Glad someone outside my friend circle also noticed the slight differences between cutscenes, clips and the actual game! Thanks for answering a question I had forgotten that I had! Little 9yo me is super stoked tbh
I honestly would LOVE the newer game if it had the old games features, the whole galactic conquest and arcade playlist modes are the only reason I never did my homework. Good graphics and controls are only half the experience needed for a masterpiece
I would love to see a video about BF1 as most of BF2's development was within a 12 month span and was based off the first game. So I feel like a lot of entries would be very interesting and relevant to the second game as well.
@@cdog728 you know what, I will. Might take some time and it probably won't be as extensive as this one, but I'll make some kind of Battlefront 2004 Iceberg (or a smaller ice cube, like my second BF2 one)
Some of the scraped ideas for BF3 made its way into the PSP's Battlefront Elite Squadron. Specifically the campaign and the fights that take place between space and the ground. I never had the chance to play Rogue Squadron, so there could also be elements from the cancelled BF3 in that game too. So glad I found this video. Keep up the great work!
Thrilled to hear you liked it! I actually talk more about both of those games in part 2 of this Iceberg. I still cant believe I forgot to include them here
Thank god you spoked about the gunship, I hated the version on bf2, since you can only use it in space and when is off you could not get inside, also the doors are slightly off the rail compared to the bf1 version. And of course i loved flying the laat in bf1 because it felt like a transport chopper and it flew with the open doors wich you could see the passengers hanging inside
The one thing I wanted in this game growing up was more playable Jedi/Sith characters, like a Light side Anakin would have been awesome. Most games the dark side characters just felt vastly more powerful than their Jedi counterparts
“Jango Fett’s here, AND HE BROUGHT HIS HEAD!!!” But seriously, imagine how bad ass it would have been to fight against the Empire as the Clones, trying to restore the Republic.
Something I don’t see mentioned a lot on these type of videos is that you can get in and control the guns on the capital ships and shoot fighters flying around if you go to the consoles near the core. Super fun when I was younger
Something that few people know, on the PS2 version of BF2, if you climb the highest point on Mos Eisley as Count Dooku, jump as high as possible and then do an attack it would make him travel so fast that the game glitched and went dark, making it look like you went past the speed of light!
Nice work on a classic game from a different time. About the entry on Dagobah, the creepy vibe is due to the uncanny valley. We know it as a mysterious place with life in it so expect to see that. The map is lifeless - Yoda can't be found in his hovel - so we know something's missing but just can't put our finger on what. That's my 2¢.
Lots of cross-era lines still exist. As do Red Guard and Old Ben lines. Also, the Empire's announcer has lines for him, telling the troops to escort "Old Man Kenobi" off the battlefield.
I have played this game extensively, and after skimming the comments briefly, found no one mention these two facts (note this is on the PS2 version): 1. Mos Eisley has several buildings you can glitch inside of. The cantina alone can be glitched into by several different ways. 2. While playing as a hero/villian with a lightsaber, if you bring someone to low hitpoints where your next swing would kill them, you can actually send their body flying through the air by performing the following actions: force push/pull them to the ground, step in front of their body, look up into the air, and finally while moving backwards attack with the lightsaber to perform the back up slash move. I used to do this all the time as my finishing move. A couple of other lightsaber moves could also replicate the same effect - Darth Maul would be an example. Great video, I loved remembering all of these little details!
Recently I keep discovering all of these characters throughout my life that were voiced by Steve Blum! I never knew some of the rebels were. Very cool. I think I also knew about that Maul 4th attack animation, but I didn't know you could control it. I also noticed those inconsistencies in the campaign as a kid, but I had forgotten about them until watching this video. There were also a couple near the top that I didn't know like Gamorrean Hunt and the droids surviving space on Polis Masa. This was a childhood defining game of mine. Thank you so much for making this video! It was very cool and a trip down memory lane.
I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much! That's why I wanted to make this video, tell people some new stuff about a classic game from their childhood or remind them of cool things they discovered on their own
22:33. I once managed to land an LAAT gunship loaded with troops on the surface of the venator, by tilting and turning the camera and repeatedly taking off and landing. It took a few minutes, but I got there. It was awesome. Even managed to hit the droid Starfighter a with a few well-timed rockets.
All I want is for someone to remaster/remake this game in frostbite engine with same physics, sounds and effects from 2017 BF2. Combined with mod support, it would be amazing.
Regarding the unnaturally long life, in one of the new Canon Darth Vader books featuring Tarkin, it is mentioned that Vader keeps around some of the OG clones. Even though they are extremely old and very bad at their jobs.
I've always thought the narrator is Appo considering his prominent place as commander, before Rex was a thing, and we just play as troops under his command instead of the narrator himself.
I think the most likely explanation for the narrator's long life is that the accelerating aging is not a constant. It probably is accelerated until they reach adulthood, and then plateaus to a normal rate. Physically, he'd start fighting at about 19 (nine years to get to 18, then one year of normal aging), the war would end when he was 22, and he would ultimately finish out at Hoth at 44. Speaking of that, I always thought that there could be two potential explanations as to why the campaign ends at Hoth and not Endor: 1: The veteran died at Hoth and is speaking from the afterlife 2, the one I subscribe to: The campaign is an alternate history in which the Galactic Civil War ended in a total Imperial victory at the Battle of Hoth
So the clones didn’t know order 66 would be triggered, it was just a possibility. There was an order 65 to kill the chancellor too which obviously was never used. Also I’m looking forward to that BF3 legacy mod. The tragedy of BF3, 1313, Force unleashed 2, kotor 2 is rough.
25:05 I believe before the Filoni shows and diseny canon was a thing it was implied that clones matured twice as fast but once they hit 20 aged normally and that many of stormtroopers in the OT are clones. Unlike now which it is implied they were quickly gotten rid of as soon as the empire started. (And i wish they kept the old aging so the clones could live longer and be seen in more empire stuff. I think disney made them age twice their entire life so they could make a clear cut good and bad side and have the clones be quickly rid of as soon as the empire came into power.)
Hey, ain't nothing wrong with loving a game to the point you you know it all. In my book that means you got good taste. P.S. I do have a part 2 to this Iceberg. Isn't too much new, but now I'm curious if you know everything on that one as well
When you talked about Gravity in Space. I knew about that for a long time. I played Battlefront 2 on the psp. The Dagobah map, I agree with how creepy it looks and sounds. I didn't know about the other version of the gunship. Great video! :D I subbed. :)
I haven't watched the whole two parts but I wanna say one of the dark depth items should be the "Zero Engine" Both Pandemic Battlefronts run off of the Zero Engine which was previously used for Battlezone II: Combat Commander, some visual quirks of this can still be seen such as the way water is rendered and the way the IFT-T/X fins move about like the hover tanks of BZ2, and even the way the treads on the ATD move.
Quick tip for that landing outside the capital ship hangar trick, you can actually land on a republic frigit if you walk off the ship above it in the space kashyyk map (I think it's space kashyyk could've been space mygeeto) which allows you to mess around & sabatoge the frigit's turrets by planting timebombs
Was always odd to me that Temura Morrison voiced the Campaign dialogue and to my knowledge also voiced Jago and Boba, but the clones are voiced by a different actor. Even in the 2004 battlefront he played the clones so I wonder why the voice changed.
"The first few kills were the hardest, after all, it's hard not to get a little spooked when the enemy screams with your voice."
That's some shit right there.
I cannot believe they cut that. Absolutely bone-chilling line and delivery by Mr. Morrison.

Pandemic really nailed the feel of Dagobah, it’s described as a focal point of dark side energy, sort of like Ilum in a way, which is why Yoda hid there as he was so strong in the force he needed to hide himself in the dark side, the one place the sith wouldn’t think to look
You missed the best part about gravity in space:
On Space Mygeeto as the clones, once you're running along the side of your venator, you can actually fall super far and survive by landing on a frigate. You can walk all around the frigate too and even fix it with a fusion cutter.

Has anyone noticed the Rebels shooting the bodies of stormtroopers after they killed them?
This is likely because in the lore, the stormtrooper armour prevents them being killed easily; when you see them being shot in the movies and series, they (usually, according to the canon) are knocked out since the suit absorbs the blow of the blaster bolt and spreads it across the body, thus necessitating further shorting if you want to ensure the trooper’s death.

In regards to your point on "Cut Heroes", there was a Cut Hero Skin for Luke Skywalker (Episode IV Farmboy Luke) that appeared in the manual for Star Wars Battlefront II (2005), but not in the actual game.
DICE ended up adding the exact same skin into the reboot Battlefront II and the Community Manager, Ben Walke, referred to it as "the Prophecy has finally been fulfilled."
"The prophecy" referred to the original 2005 game Manual.

Where did you see these in SW? This sounds super sick.
@@justindestroyer1 They're in all of the OG Battlefront games, and their lore is explained in the Force Unleashed expansion for the Star Wars Saga Edition TTRPG, and the Essential Guide to Warfare.
@@ToaArcan phase 0 dark troopers are? I've never seen them. Only the normal dark troopers. I want to see what you're talking about though haha
Interesting but this is Legends now.
I was thinking the same thing about 343 Guilty Spark.
I never connected the two until now...
@@Suckit626 The only reason I already had is because Backwash from Halo 2 had the internal working name of Dagobah and it's a H2 multiplayer map set around the same sort of building as at the end of 343 Guilty Spark, but on Delta Halo.

Simply just the first tier, with all the maps, ships, game modes, etc... you compare to the amount of content it has to games nowadays, you just can't believe how did they do it on 2005. This game was way ahead of it's time.
this was a great video however, theres a couple additions i’d make to the iceberg:
Regarding 3, another commenter here claims to have datamined Dagobah and discovered a significant area outside the map that utilizes a jedi temple texture.
detpack strat went crazy😂😂
There is no place without gravity. It's influence surrounds all.
Yeah, but in orbit you still float
That's how Shadow The Hedgehog fell to Earth.

i always had that eerie feeling on Dagobah too, every time i played on that map, i felt like something was staring at me through the fog and the map itself had a very confusing layout
Being told to murder the very person you trusted with your life is genuinely horrifying not to add that the man in the story starts realizing that going to war and dying is the only purpose in life he actually has and there is nothing he can do about it because he was made to be a soldier and nothing else is so depressing.
if you want to see more of this kind of concept, check out the black mirror episode season 3 ep 5, "men against fire." its really, really good
@@chungle_down_bim923 it reminds me kind of like the movie Avatar from 2009.
Dude yes! I discovered this like a year after playing and ended up in all sorts of wacky spots. The CIS capital ship is fun
The amount of time I played on this game as a kid was insane lol. Was the first game I ever really made online friends on and still talk to one to this day so it’ll always be special. Thanks for uploading this!!
Can you still play online?
It's probably pretty well known but on Kashyyyk with a Jet Trooper you can get reeeally high up the map. As I recall it's the trees that lookout over the enemy's command post.
You can drive speeder bikes up the trees too if I recall if its at the right angle.
I never really thought about the identity of the narrator but you're right that they were there for most of the major events of the series. I always thought the clone troopers were interesting since they were a major part of the story but were phased out and forgotten afterwards.
I did not know two of my favorite actors, Timothy Omusdon & Steve Blum, voiced the rebels! MIND. BLOWN!
As a 28-year old guy who's still playing Battlefront I really appreciate this video. Amazing work dude
I never even noticed the cowboy bebop VA until now… and now I will NEVER unhear it. Thank you lol.
Fortunately you can get the dlc via modding
Honestly still bummed I never bothered with DLC back then, had been hoping a GotY edition would have it... Then that 3 would... Then that DICE was gonna be faithful to the IP... I had hope back then.
I'm shocked too... I used to play BF on the PS2 back when it came out. A couple of years back I found it on the Xbox store and bought it for nostalgia, but I didn't noticed that it has extra content till I watched this video.
That Maul line, “what’s he gonna do, bleed on us?” is such a deep cut when you consider the Black Knight from Monty Python’s Holy Grail
Playing a lot of Battlefront 2 on the PS2, I’m glad there’s still plenty I didn’t know about this game
“We have lost control of a command post. Fight for it!”
It's nice to finally play it on the classic collection.
my favorite bit of dialogue if you shoot a clone teammate
"WAS IT SOMETHING I SAID????"
21:51 wish this wasn't cut, this is amazing... Literal goosebumps from it lmao, so atmospheric
Stop telling everyone my secrets to playing as Darth Maul lol, Great video btw!
Glad someone outside my friend circle also noticed the slight differences between cutscenes, clips and the actual game! Thanks for answering a question I had forgotten that I had! Little 9yo me is super stoked tbh
Read my comment below
You were able to play the beta back then
That Monty Python reference went right over everyone's head
You did a really good job with this video. Both this and the follow up video. I learned quite a lot from them. Good job!
The troop dialog literally has Payday vibes in the BEST way possible.
I know an iceberg about it exists. I had thought of making a video on it, but I think someone else did and I didn't think I could offer anything new
@@ciudad1696 do you have a link? I couldn't find the video.
Ethan Cunningham same I can’t find that video on TH-cam
Ciudad16 pls make it bro
Fun fact, Light Side Anakin actually is a hero on one of the Xbox DLC maps. Or at least, tge same Anakin is used by the Republic side
@@ciudad1696 which map?
@@breadformyfamily4175 Yavin Arena
@@ciudad1696 Interesting, does he still have the force choke ability?
@@MadSwedishGamer I believe he still does
“Jango Fett’s here, AND HE BROUGHT HIS HEAD!!!” But seriously, imagine how bad ass it would have been to fight against the Empire as the Clones, trying to restore the Republic.
Something I don’t see mentioned a lot on these type of videos is that you can get in and control the guns on the capital ships and shoot fighters flying around if you go to the consoles near the core. Super fun when I was younger
literally is a mechanic...
Watching this after the classics collection announcement.
See you on the battlefront, Trooper!

Watching this after the Classics Collection failure.
Can someone explain, do you get any rewards from completing multiplayer matches? Or just a kill death ratio?
"Watch those wrist rockets!" will never not be hilarious to me
Something that few people know, on the PS2 version of BF2, if you climb the highest point on Mos Eisley as Count Dooku, jump as high as possible and then do an attack it would make him travel so fast that the game glitched and went dark, making it look like you went past the speed of light!
Huh, that... actually makes a lot of sense
In the story mode, the 501st are deployed to Dagobah to take out Yoda, I believe he does show up.
This just unlocked so many childhood memories, thank you.
Lots of cross-era lines still exist.
As do Red Guard and Old Ben lines.
Also, the Empire's announcer has lines for him, telling the troops to escort "Old Man Kenobi" off the battlefield.
“Watch out its Major Malevolence- er, General Grevious!” -Clone Trooper
Always loved that dumb line.
Solid Snake also was accelerated aging clone, Naomi said he was moving on willpower alone. Maybe this is Clone Trooper Solid Snake.
😳 Maybe
I have played this game extensively, and after skimming the comments briefly, found no one mention these two facts (note this is on the PS2 version):
That's why I wanted to make this video, tell people some new stuff about a classic game from their childhood or remind them of cool things they discovered on their own
Just looked up Battlefront 3 Legacy mod after you mentioned it. Thank the algorithm for showing me your video.
22:33. I once managed to land an LAAT gunship loaded with troops on the surface of the venator, by tilting and turning the camera and repeatedly taking off and landing. It took a few minutes, but I got there. It was awesome. Even managed to hit the droid Starfighter a with a few well-timed rockets.
That clone trooper King Arthur reference from Monty Python is beyond brilliant
Speaking of that, I always thought that there could be two potential explanations as to why the campaign ends at Hoth and not Endor:
1: The veteran died at Hoth and is speaking from the afterlife
2, the one I subscribe to: The campaign is an alternate history in which the Galactic Civil War ended in a total Imperial victory at the Battle of Hoth
What makes TFU 2 and KOTOR 2 tragedies?
@@shadow-squid4872 TFU 2 had good gameplay but a shit story. It was also a really short game.
Idk what's wrong with Kotor 2 though.
I love the inhibitor chip canon story but the original idea that the clones knew all along is so creepy and disturbing
Dude I have been playing this game forever and I mean forever and didnt know about heores vs villans.
After watching all of this… I’m sad to say I didn’t learn anything new. I can’t believe I’ve played this game that much
Hey, ain't nothing wrong with loving a game to the point you you know it all. In my book that means you got good taste.
P.S. I do have a part 2 to this Iceberg. Isn't too much new, but now I'm curious if you know everything on that one as well
@@ciudad1696 still got my psp and battlefront 2 in the case with it. Also have been playing all 4 battlefront’s nonstop (1&2 pandemic/1&2EA)
That line about ''It's a good thing we were all wearing helmets. Because none of us could bare to look her in the eye'' makes so much more sense now.
When you talked about Gravity in Space. I knew about that for a long time. I played Battlefront 2 on the psp.
The Dagobah map, I agree with how creepy it looks and sounds.
I didn't know about the other version of the gunship.
Great video! :D
I subbed. :)
I require that MGS iceberg badly rn; this video restarted my love for obscure trivia for media I adore
I haven't watched the whole two parts but I wanna say one of the dark depth items should be the "Zero Engine"
Both Pandemic Battlefronts run off of the Zero Engine which was previously used for Battlezone II: Combat Commander, some visual quirks of this can still be seen such as the way water is rendered and the way the IFT-T/X fins move about like the hover tanks of BZ2, and even the way the treads on the ATD move.
I discovered the ability to walk around in space when I was younger
21:51
I wish this was in the game it was honestly the best intro to a mission
In the beta, the ARC-170 had space for three players, like the ship does in canon. One player was even a tail gunner.
Interesting
What I love most about this ice berg is that it's just under 30 minutes long. Not over an hour in length. Pretty sweet.
Was always odd to me that Temura Morrison voiced the Campaign dialogue and to my knowledge also voiced Jago and Boba, but the clones are voiced by a different actor. Even in the 2004 battlefront he played the clones so I wonder why the voice changed.
