- Ranking all the original Heroes and Villains from my youngling days playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) across PC/Xbox/Playstation.
Sharing opinions on who's the best and worst to capture those command posts and "take the high ground" in the new Battlefront 2 (Classic Collection) release!

Yoda is the most situational unit in the game. So in battlefront 2, lasers do not travel through water, but lightsabers do. The two conquest maps that Yoda is playable on are Kashykk and Dagobah. Kashykk and dagobah both have large bodies of water as center points of the map. Yoda does not take drown damage and is short enough to be completely submerged in water. This means that in conquest:
YOU CAN CAMP
UNDERWATER
AND ANKLE BITE PEOPLE TO DEATH
WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THEM SHOOTING YOU

There was nothing more terrifying than turning around to see Maul bearing down on you in a sprint. That double bladed onslaught was nigh impossible to recover from.

You were lucky not to be turned into hamburger meat if you got hit with that Propeller Strike No Jutsu even as a relatively tanky unit that was barely grazed.

Fun fact, on assault on the Mos Eisley map, you can, as Yoda, get on top of the cantina, and in the right spot, you can crouch and clip into the roof and become unkillable. This has absolutely zero strategic value, but it is hilarious to watch AI Jango and Boba Fetts try to shoot at you and fail miserably as their shots hit the roof.
They need to add a youngling hunt in the temple during order 66, which is like Ewok hunt but y’know… younglings and Anakin

One note in regards to Yoda: on kashyyyk and dagobah, he can hide in the water to make himself immune to blaster shots, add force pull into the mix (if it works, which it mostly doesn't) and you've got a killer combo.
The reason why it doesn't work is because your aiming the upper torso! The Droid hit box is different you gotta aim bottom torso crotch area
Yeah, Yoda should probably be higher by a tier or two, if only because of how broken his height can be if you get creative. It comes with a lot of downsides, but people aren’t used to aiming at him, looking for him, etc.

Count Dooku is OP 1v1. You can choke and instantly switch to force lightning, using both at once and being able to choke for longer due to only lightning counting towards your force depletion. If you grip a hero they can’t do anything about it and will die in one go.
Fun fact, although most lightsaber wielders have 3 attacks they cycle through. Darth Maul actually has a 4th attack, if you attack three times, but hold the attack button down on the last attack, you do a little lighstaber spin behind you, that also hits units
Yesss I was hoping someone else discovered that combo. I would use the spinkick variant as often as possible because even if they are just bots, I can imagine dying from a kick to the chin as opposed to the perfectly viable laser staff I am holding, must be humiliating even in Binary.

One thing people don't know about dooku is you can do force choke while holding the switch button to do force choke and lightning at the same time. Same thing with sidious. Also, darth maul has an extra saber spin if you hold down the button at the end of his basic combo
The best way to use Dooku and the emperor is to start choking someone then switch to force lightning in order to quickly dispatch them. This combo works best with the emperor.
Honestly I hope that glitch is patched out with the Classic Collection. It’s going to make Heroes vs Villains hell if they don’t.
You can even force choke with vader and switch to lightsaber throw, this makes it so that you can keep choking them without losing stamina

this combined with sidious having the highest stamina pool makes sidious low key one of the best in hero assault cause he stomps 1v1s

Qui-Gon is one of my favorite characters and he’s never playable except in the Lego games.
Qui Gon, Plo Koon, Darth Plagueis and Starkiller would all be welcome additions and keep both teams evenly numbered

The rockets is hilarious to control when you use the dedicated camera and mess with others during heroes VS villains
imma be honest i thought all of them were equally busted because as a kid if i saw ANY hero/villain walk up to me as a grunt i would scream
Was in a PS2 online dueling clan back in the day. This is a pretty accurate list. Aayla wasn’t used as much because double force pulls were banned, but it’s fun to see someone break down these old school characters in a modern format.
Also, darth Vader is in the correct tier, but he also has a massive health pool, maybe second to Chewie. It makes it so he can survive combo chains and break out with back slashes.
Really fun list I’m excited to see what mechanics and exploits make it to the remake

A note about flamethrowers. Yes they’re rubbish as a primary weapon, but when your main weapon runs out of ammo they’re really easy to swap to and finish off the last bit of the enemy’s health. Great secondary option, and using them while jet packing is a great counter to saber users.

When playing as Maul, you follow the force push with Saber throw or sprint attack.
Real ones remember Grievous being awful as both a teammate and an ally. His combos would cc both of yall, and Grievous would walk into a room swinging on anything that moved, only making things worse.
This is why I'm surprised seeing him this low. He has a wide range and was one of the characters I found the easiest to stun lock enemies with and do crowd control with. His charge attack, if done correctly, could practically kill someone at full health. The hitbox animation was completely OP, especially the finisher animation on his attack cycle (where he uses his 4 arms), which was one of the strongest finishers, in my opinion. It would play out even as you died, meaning you could often get a final hit in that would deal good damage or even kill the enemies from beyond the grave (this could happen with other heroes aswell, but due the long animation of Grevious attack it appears to happen more consistently and for characters to be caught in the hitbox).
I found Grevious to be a decent high pressure character with a wide attack combo.
Yet, a slow character like Darth Vader that was basically demolished in any scenario where he was outnumbered and hardly ever useful outside of a 1v1 is near top tier
Got my ass kicked by dudes with the vVv clan tag as a kid; log in now and to my surprise that damn clan is still active and still kicks my ass! Ah, the good old days...
Dude, every list puts Chewbacca in bottom tier even though he’s busted. You can boost (sprint) with his rockets to give them a massive AOE which insta-kills almost everyone. Sit him near a gonk droid and rain down hellfire, in Capture the Flag he can single-handedly deny the enemy team any hope of flag possession, on Conquest he can deny enemy capping command posts, on HvV he can pick off anyone he likes from his hiding spot at the back of the map, it’s disgusting how strong he is. He’s also the best hero at destroying vehicles.
People find that he’s weak in 1v1s with other heroes (which is fair) but then just never think about him again. He’s so good JUST from his rockets alone. Play him smart.
I kinda forgot the rockets can do that. I think I did it a couple times but it's not rlly my play style. Decent weapon tho.
Honestly give it a go on Hero Assault on Mos Eisley, seeing the villains get sent ragdolling across the map is hilarious.
Maybe A tier, but S? Nawh. He requires rather specific conditions to propperly shine.
I’m not trying to argue that he’s S-tier, just that he’s not absolute trash tier like every tier list says he is. You’re right, he’s good but situational.

I know you didn't include the dlc exclusive characters, but in my opinion both Kit Fisto and Asajj are S tier mainly because of their throwables (especially Kit, oh my god his throwable attack is so broken) and Asajj is the only character who can do damage while blocking, i wish grievous had something like this too.

Was I the only one who figured out the infinite choke. Once you choked someone in the old bf2 you could switch to lightsaber throw and your stamina would refill while still choking

If you didnt know, with chewbacca, if you use the guided rocket you can boost its speed, and if you boost its speed into something, its explosion gets much larger and does a lot more damage.
Jango Fett should of had his "Dual Wield Blasters". Its been 20 years, just give it to him.

When I was a kid Obiwan was my go-to for heroes and maul and grievious were my go-tos for villains. Those were my 3 favorite characters back in the day.

Count dooku and palpatine using force lightening was always crazy. On high buildings yoda could spam pull/push and perma stun people in the air
I think Palpatine dominates in crowd control. Think about it, just hide around a corner and wait for a group of people and BAM. Force slam. One shots normal units and leaves wookies at half their hp. He doesn't even have his lightsaber out by default so u can potentially stealth for that surprise attack.
Also, Count Dooku is an easy top tier because of the choke and smoke combo and he is faster than the Emperor. Probably the best hero in the game for 1vs1 while maul is probably the best for fighting multiple enemies at once.

I disagree with the Leia placement, in online battles/ conquest getting massive groups of troop and storming a chokepoimt with invincibility it insanely powerful. You can't play her like you'd play a han solo or chewie
For real If I was villains and she used this I’d usually just run away for a minute and find other ppl to slay, if not you’re going to be spamming attack and just hoping you take as many with you
The problem is that heroes only gain health outside of HvV by killing enemies. If you’re not doing that you’re slowly losing health even if you’re not being attacked. Leia has no efficient way of killing enemy units like saber users do.
@@TheDirtysouthfanIn Conquest, Command Posts are the name of the game. It can be a close game even if you yourself have 70 kills (of 150). With a command post lead you can win handedly even with just a few kills. Her ability basically granting free command posts is massive (especially as the hero on spam city Polis Massa).
Does her beam pistol suck? Yeah, but invulnerability demands a weak weapon.
count dooku, and the emperor belong in S teir mate. You can use both of their force powers at the same time. Use force choke, than switch to lightening and melt the enemies health bar.

Yoda has some crazy survivability if he's attacking anyone who doesn't have a lightsaber though because he's so smol

Mace Windu’s ground pound absolutely has a stun; it knocks everyone caught in it off their feet for a solid three seconds.
Charging through Echo Base as Vader is SO much fun
Ki-Adi-Mundi is easily the best force user sprint ability. you can infinitely chain it and there is nothing the opponent can do about it. S++++ tier

did you forget that Count Dooku has the Choke/Lightning lockdown combo? while holding the choke you switch to lightning it would give you infinite stamina and nothing they could do to break the hold, getting to use 2 force powers at the same time is OP
Grievous works well in tight spaces like the corridors on the Tantive IV.
Palpatine works best on the Death Star and in the Jedi Temple because there are lots of vantage points for him to drop down on select targets or small groups.
Yoda's a good tank buster, and good for taking out snipers on the bridge on Kashyyyk.
I personally would rank Mace lower because his attacks tend to leave him wide open, you may as well just spam saber throw with him.
Grievous is way better if you just forget about using his sprint attack. It's a bit counterintuitive because he moves so far forward. You can hit an enemy, but it doesn't do a ton of damage, so you'll just have to circle back and finish them off, which takes too much time because he's gonna be too far away by the end of his sprint. Usually I will sprint towards an enemy, but then just stop short and mash his regular combo, which is stronger and more effective. With that strategy, I might even put him in the top 5 heroes/villains.
The tier list changes once you learn that force choke users get infinite stamina if you switch abilities after using force choke. Dooku, Anakin, Vader and the Palpy become OP when you use this combo.
Before I start the video, my S tier is Maul, has 4 consecutive attacks if you include the "secret" attack while holding the attack button on attack 3, he has a good sprint attack as well

The classic collection is $49 in my country (New Zealand) I want to return to my childhood and enjoy the nostalgia but i can't bring myself to pay that much it's just too much.
Probably $20 on steam for each game (Canadian) maybe less (can’t remember what I played) and connect a wireless controller or play with keyboard and mouse. That’s what I did
Grievous is great, the way he makes everyone flip over is hilarious and can kill like 5 people at once
Vader can choke into a force dash (sprint) slash and one shot any character if done correctly but it uses all of your force bar to do so.
Did they ever fix the weird targetting on some of the force pushes?
Choke and lightening together is hilarious, choke then swap to lightening and they get damaged by both so for that I’d put Dooku higher
Wonder where Assaj and Kit would go on this list, especially with their unique secondary force abilities
Big thing you forgot about dooku is the lightning-choke combo, as they can be swapped in classic BF2 for an infinite stunlock. The only other villain capable of this is the Emperor, who has a much worse melee moveset.
I will say that Jango tends to operate much more as a hero/high priority target hunter, as the time bombs *do* significantly more damage than the detpack, allowing him to snipe infantry commanders and blow up troublesome vehicles. Boba’s kit is much more geared for dealing with groups of infantry.
11:02 - they actually did give Jango dual Westars in the PSP Battlefront game *Renegade Squadron* and they were absolutely disgusting. Functioned with overheat instead of magazines, fast shot movement - they were perfect.
And that was before you got to play as IG-88 with *dual blasters that were twice as good*
I played bf2 online for the ps2 as well, I primarily agree with this list but as someone who mainly played the hero assault mode on mos eisley I’d basically put all the shooters on the bottom tier and keep everything mostly the same. I do like the fact you considered other games modes than assault in this list as well.
I agree with most of them EXCEPT han solo. His burst pistol was BUSTED. 😂
If you hit headshots with it, you were melting even the force users with that thing.
@@sillysokka1130 that’s just a big IF, if you’re hitting your shots, I know personally this game it’s a lot harder to hit force users just because of the huge difference in mobility.

4:40 I find the flamethrower somewhat useful as a single tap weapon.
Like if someone comes too close, just switch to it and set them on fire, then quickly switch back to your rifle.
I find there's not much benefit to keep flaming the whole ammo clip on an enemy. Just let the fire burn on its own, so they get shot and burned simultaneously.
Which makes Boba and Jango pretty good against higher health enemies.
Nice list. As a seasoned BF2 vet, I mostly agree with your list except I would move Luke and Yoda up 1 tier each, and move Conehead and Solo to mid.
My favorite hero to play as is a Wampa.
Wampa hunting is so fun if one friends human and the other's in the wampa horde
Dooku and Sidious can both choke and use lightning at the same time which is pretty effective.
Say what you want, but I do love using General Grievous and Darth Vader on the Tantive IV map in BF2. When I started out as those characters, I would first go to the door where the stormtroopers entered in from A New Hope to make it like he just boarded the ship before laying waste to the clones or rebels.
you forgot that palpatines jump attack is in fact insanely good, it cant be blocked by lightsabers or shields and always stuns the enemies which means you can basically stun lock your enemies if you play well :D
I think there should have been another list to counter each tiers. Like for example Ayla Secura is good but Grievous is good on recovery from a force pull. I don't know if its a Classic collection patch but it feels that grievous does more damage then I remember especially to Ayla. Other charcters that could counter the force pull characters is of course Anakin, dooku especially if catch them off guard. One thing people don't know about dooku is you can do force choke while holding the switch button to do force choke and lightning at the same time. It kills heroes faster but greatly reduces force. And darth maul might be best too against force pull users if you push them before they have time to recover. Even getting force pulled by multiple enemies darth maul can get out of it fairly easily if you know how to use him. Not to mention if you hold down the attack button to finish his basic combo, he does an exta saber spin instead of a strike.
I love the video! I would say I like force push if you have a good sprint character. Darth Maul, for example, force push and sprint attack can be extremely deadly with precision. With poor sprint characters I agree with you though, I think force push is not the best.
On the PS2 if you put someone in a choke and changed to lightning mid choke it would do both at the same time and delete any hero instantly

Force Lightning has a broken glitch. Choke someone and switch to Lightning while Choking them and your stamina bar breaks so you can Choke someone to death and immediately have full force to Choke someone else. Duku is absolutely broken because of this IMO.
Love this list! I think I would roughly say everyone is in a good spot, though I disagree with one and im curious on your thoughts, Jango is easily better than Boba. The two I want to counteract is their main guns, and comparing det bombs to time bombs. First their main guns, Jangos is better because its hitscan, has better range, and can melt much faster since its spammable. Second, the det bombs, I agree they are good, just not on Boba, with him he cant shoot then use a det bomb as Bobas shots are delayed, which both delay his det bombs, and rockets (so you cant shoot then right after use a bomb or rocket, you need to wait 2 seconds before your blaster can recharge) making his synergy with both those tools almost null in void compared to jangos which like mentioned he can spam his gun, which means theres no falloff delay between using his rockets and shooting his gun. Now timebomb is objectively worse than det bombs, but like stated Bobas just doesnt synergize with his kit, and timebombs are much more effective at taking out veichles which is very important in conquest so having that is much more useful than detbombs which are weaker and dont synergize with bobas slow gun firerate. And so with Jangos better synergy with his kit, with his better main gun to dish out damage due to his hitscan, longer range, and spamability, and more reliable way to take out buildings with timebombs which is something the blaster characters lack, I think makes Jango much better than Boba!

The AI in general seems to not like using force choke as both Dooku and Palpatine seem to only use lightning
Jango's pistol is the strongest gun in the game if you have a fast trigger finger. You can spam that super quickly and it can mow through enemies or shred a hero's Health bar. I think he's the best gun wielding Hero in the game because of that pistol, though it can be harder to play.
I love how the youtube algorithm is showing me other youtubers who also Stull play the classic star wars battlefront games, been playing them since I got them on the ps2 most people I talked to growing up forgot about the game or didn't even know it was a thing, until I met this one dude at goddard who was an intern but he played it on the xbox so now we can't wait until this releases again since we both no have an xbox series x, also I used to like Sony until the ps4 came out and they started charging for online play, and also since they don't support backwards compatible play I switched to xbox and never looked back!
Kit Fisto is op secretly and would probably be s tier

It’s sick to see this list-definitely agree with most of it and funny to see people have the same findings.
I’m definitely a big Emperor guy though, I’ll die on that hill. He’s my favourite for crowd control, and prob needs a bit more kudos for having choke.
Grievous also has an incredible R2 combo on the final (third) hit, so if you can trap someone in that it’s a near guaranteed kill.
Luke deserves more imo! But I might just be more partial to his moveset, I think it’s the quickest and most versatile for reasons I have trouble explaining. I think he jumps quicker?? I don’t know.
And Yoda, I share the concerns, though I think some of his moves have grown on me over time. I think he’s not a bad duelist but he is a bad campaign mode.
Darth Maul is the best, though.
Dooku and Palpatine should be S tier thanks to an exploit. If you use switch to another ability WHILE using Force Choke, your Force Choke no longer consumes stamina until it is canceled. If you do this as Dooku or Palpatine, you start simultaneously using Force Choke AND Force Lightning while only spending stamina on the latter. It allows you to destroy any hero, and still take on groups.

Counter arguments for Jango, Mace, and Grevious.
Jango's pistol is hitscan, which is a trait only reserved for snipers. It can one-shot any unit with a headshot (not sure about heavies, though). Plus, he is insanely fast and has significantly more control over his air movement compared to Boba and Jet Troopers.
Grevious can win any duel so he shuts down enemy heroes, while his rage counters the enemy officer ability (Rally) and gives his units the edge in any engagement. Especially as the republic jet trooper is the most fragile unit in clone wars.
Mace is simply played by Samuel Jackson.
Rq tho leia's pistol is not the same as Jango. Her pistol is the Beam Rifle, which means she doesn't deal all her damage at once (takes about a second to finish).
Lastly, you can force choke and ligjtning at the same time if you choke then swap to lightning while holding the force power button
Before it even starts, if Darth Maul is not number 1, its invalid. I be catching BODIES with Maul

I always considered grevious to be the total yoda death character there’s like literally nothing yoda can do other than get lucky with a push or pull
I do agree with the list but defiently love using the flame thrower. It melts general units in an AOE type of attack that does damage over time and it can cause players to panic when jango or boba fall from the style and use the flame thrower and then fly away. The pistol in my opinion is defiently way more broken and disgusting then the elite rifle. I find myself using the award pistol a lot more then the elite rifle. Great video none the less
Dooku and Sidious are EASILY S Tier characters. You are able to Choke people, then quickly change to lightning- this causing double damage as there is a buffer, and the Choke animation still plays, but the lightning attacks as well.
One thing I noticed is that Count Dooku's sideways and backwards movements are super slow, unlike Palpatine's.
Palpatine can still dodge a lightsaber throw just by walking sideways.
Count Dooku on the other hand can't. Most of the time for me Atleast.
I guess with Dooku you gotta manage your stamina and make the most out of the combat rolls, and sideways jumps as a means of dodging.
Gotta roll as Grievous! But it'd be sick if could do his crawl.
Maul is #1 because of how easy it is to chain that basic combo on multiple people at once repeatedly. Not to mention a very hard to miss dash to set up stunlock combos and the absolute lawnmower that is hiw saber throw.
Bonus points because Duel Of The Fates plays when you're murdering people as him
Played as anakin the most learned you can use the force choke endlessly just my swapping your secondary off and back on while you have someone grabbed
Yo with palpatin we used this broken ability that was a choke and lightning combo and you can used that infinite and you would win every single one on one battle that was OP
Palps and Dooku could do the Forcechoke-> switch to lightning and and choke and zap at the same time. From my memory you could dispatch single enemys very quickly especially with palps. ( Also maybe it was just me but i seem to remember, that forcepush was not the same on all characters (I remember being annyed as Obi wan not being able to push large groups while I never had that problem with luke. But I was a child and maybe I misremember^^
