You don't need any narrative/dialogue/hand-holding for this video to hit a deep nerve in your soul...almost brings me to tears every-fucking-time I watch it. This song shows that, although we may live on opposite sides of the world, on complete opposite sides of the culture spectrum, there will always be those basic human emotions that we all experience no matter what country we call home, no matter what era we live in, since the dawn of time... one of the greatest music videos I've ever seen
I still remember the first time watching this music video 7 years ago, to this amazing stumble it still gives me chills and a rush of emotions for the characters in this cinematic music video and also brings me nostalgic memories and aromas from the time.
This video is so intriguing I regret it’s only four minutes. I would love to know more about the characters, and what happens next. This could make a great movie!
My takeaway is that the video tells four stories in three universes: 1) Korea in the Middle Ages 2) Modern North Korea under the Kim regime 3) Modern South Korea- a crime lord kills a cop during a bank robbery who is also connected to the concert singer in some way
Isabela S No you are not! LOVE THE SONG though!! I'm still trying to get this video too (Though I think it is suppose to have an element of reincarnation i.e. "The Samurai who returns as that guy in the grey turtle-neck" The lyrics and this video don't match up (Which is throwing me off)
Joseph Dungee The song speaks deeply of culture. The pop singer represents western culture whilst the "middle ages" scenes represent Korean culture. So South Korea is becoming westernized as seen with the "pop star and the voilent TV show stuff".
Headline from this day on Why you keep pretending that you wanna let go? Do. Do you wanna let go? Loud volume turn to low low low low low low What you want and what you do to me I’ll take the trouble that you have in mind Entertainment Show them what you do with me When everyone here knows better What I once refused to be Is everything they long together I’d rather be alone I love, I love, I love, I notice I heard it all before I died Before I knew you Once upon a time would take too long, long, long, long, long, long What you want and what you do to me I’ll take the trouble let you have my mind Entertainment Show them what you do with me When everyone here knows better What I once refused to be Is everything they long together I’d rather be alone
For those who didn't understand, this world is not yours to conquer, oh, wrong show. Anyway, I’ll explain the clip, from my point of view. The clip depicts entertainment, and how people's lives shape around it. Whether talking about war, fun, history, or how people come together to entertain themselves. The question is, "what to talk about entertainment and people?". Both really have a relationship, since the beginning, entertainment has a relationship with humans, as clouds have with the sea, producing rain, producing lakes, ponds, puddles of water. And what to say, exactly about this relationship. I would point out that in the past, it was said, "this one was born to be a teacher", now it is said, "this one was born to be an actor, singer, poet", professions debated about its relevance, but that is the point, the degree of importance of entertainment. The entertainment was created, the primary needs were to copulate, eat, make physiological needs, sleep, among other things, the most important, but with the entertainment, the importance of things and people, it has a different proportion. One famous person is more famous than another, a certain profession is more sought after than another, a certain place is more visited than another. People do things to entertain themselves and arrest others to achieve that goal. SUMMARY OF OPERA: Humanity has made entertainment its own vassal. Adapting with the fashions, trends, to fit in some society. Forgetting about living individually, following moral rules, it is necessary. And how to get rid of the entertainment, [a prison they believe they never have to leave], don't get stuck in one program, or channel, or group. Have times alone (in old age or at some time or place, you will be alone) Don't just read books, don't just play, don't watch movies only, don't just watch series, don't just be in fashion. If you want to know if there are people in the entertainment, listen to Bruce Lee, be like water, always on the move, if you want to see life outside of entertainment, be like the air, invisible and wise. Be like the earth, made by God, be strong, and separate from fire, which destroys nature, (but the element is used in many areas, I mean subliminally, bad people are like uncontrolled fire) And to end this long excerpt ""God is beyond the stars" and I want to understand the world, and I rather be alone
The music video is shot in a cinematic style and is set in Korea. It features several characters interacting with each other throughout different historical periods. Its central theme is romantic with two people finding each-other across the ages amidst conflict with antagonists.
Phoenix already knew that Korean entertainment will be a massive hit and global phenomenon in the future. Great song, awesome video clip. This song never gets old 🔥 Greetings from Indonesia 🇲🇨
I’ve watched this video since a long time ago because me and my dad both enjoyed this song. This is the first time seeing this video since a long time ago and I forgot how much I love it
To me this song is about that feeling when you feel so much love and attraction for someone and that person feels the same way for you but neither of you dare to make the first step, so you'd rather be alone...
Aw, I love his hair in the bun! But I honestly love the security guard. He seems so sweet, I can't believe he dies! But OMG, when the guy in the armour's modern day self kicks that guy's ass at the end! SO GOOD. There are too many conflicting storylines! This music video needs a fanfiction!
i just saw them perform this live on june 8th at the primavera sound city show and i got so emotional thinking about this music video when they played this song. LOVE THIS BAND
This video explains the story of most Korean drama which tells the story of lovers who fall in love across different times as different appearances but still love each other heavy shit and make the song so much more appricieateable
my take on the video is that what entertains us is what we love. like in the video their was action, music, history all sorts of it and entertainment has this spell over us which we cannot break or we choose not to break it.
when i watch this song, i get sucked in by the video. when i hear this song, i think of the video. i'm still putting pieces together. but either way, i can't help but feel sad.
One love story ends to unite 2 people who have constantly missed their chance to be together through time, all the characters in the video are related in some way, the officer and the lady from the beginning are people who love each other but apparently never sealed the deal and he dies before they can, meanwhile the other guy saves the girl he loves and they get together. He made a move so they lived. He overcame the repeating phrase, "I'd rather be alone" and saved her and finally they connected across time and hardships. It's sad but a lot of times this stuff happens irl all over the world.
This is the best KDrama I've ever seen
which movie this song is taken in?
I think she meant the MV, not an actual movie. This song is, however, in a movie called Now You See Me.
+Suyog Ikhankar I meant it as a joke, because the video has a lot of Korean in it and it's very dramatic and has a lot of KDrama-like themes in it
What is the name of the drama? Sydney Elias

What you want and what you do to me
I’ll take the trouble that you have in mind

Show them what you do with me
