lyrics: [Verse 1] I didn't want to be the one to forget I thought of everything I'd never regret A little time with you is all that I get That's all we need because it's all we can take One thing I never see the same when you're 'round I don’t believe in him, his lips on the ground I wanna take you to that place in the Roche But no one gives us any time anymore He asks me once if I'd look in on his dog You made an offer for it, then you ran off I got this picture of us, gets in my head And all I hear is the last thing that you said [Pre-Chorus] "I listened to your problems, now listen to mine" I didn't want to anymore, oh-oh-oh [Chorus] And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? Now I thought about what I wanna say But I never really know where to go So I chained myself to a friend 'Cause I know it unlocks like a door And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? Now I thought about what I wanna say But I never really know where to go So I chained myself to a friend Some more again [Verse 2] It didn't matter what they wanted to see He thought he saw someone that looked just like me The summer memory that just never dies We worked too long and hard to give it no time He sees right through me, it's so easy with lies Cracks in the road that I would try and disguise He runs his scissors at the seam in the wall He cannot break it down or else he would fall One thousand lonely stars hiding in the cold Take it, oh, I don't wanna sing anymore [Instrumental Break] [Pre-Chorus] "I listened to your problems, now listen to mine" I didn't want to anymore, oh-oh-oh [Chorus] And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? Now I thought about what I wanna say But I never really know where to go So I chained myself to a friend 'Cause I know it unlocks like a door And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? Now I thought about what I wanna say But I never really know where to go So I chained myself to a friend 'Cause I know it unlocks like a- [Bridge] I don't understand, don't get upset I'm not with you We're swimming around, it's all I do When I'm with you [Chorus] And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? Now I thought about what I wanna say But I never really know where to go So I chained myself to a friend 'Cause I know it unlocks like a door And we will never be alone again 'Cause it doesn't happen every day Kinda counted on you being a friend Can I give it up or give it away? look up the Kuleshov effect. Its a film editing effect that gets the viewer to pick out more meaning from a scene from with two back to back shots rather than one shot itself. The music video is a direct application of this
The video is genius, so much emotion conveyed through not much more than lighting and camera angles. The song and video are brilliant individually but combined create an incomparable work of art

lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I didn't want to be the one to forget
I thought of everything I'd never regret
A little time with you is all that I get
That's all we need because it's all we can take
One thing I never see the same when you're 'round
I don’t believe in him, his lips on the ground
I wanna take you to that place in the Roche
But no one gives us any time anymore
He asks me once if I'd look in on his dog
You made an offer for it, then you ran off
I got this picture of us, gets in my head
And all I hear is the last thing that you said
[Pre-Chorus]
"I listened to your problems, now listen to mine"
I didn't want to anymore, oh-oh-oh
[Chorus]
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a door
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
Some more again
[Verse 2]
It didn't matter what they wanted to see
He thought he saw someone that looked just like me
The summer memory that just never dies
We worked too long and hard to give it no time
He sees right through me, it's so easy with lies
Cracks in the road that I would try and disguise
He runs his scissors at the seam in the wall
He cannot break it down or else he would fall
One thousand lonely stars hiding in the cold
Take it, oh, I don't wanna sing anymore
[Instrumental Break]
[Pre-Chorus]
"I listened to your problems, now listen to mine"
I didn't want to anymore, oh-oh-oh
[Chorus]
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a door
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a-
[Bridge]
I don't understand, don't get upset
I'm not with you
We're swimming around, it's all I do
When I'm with you
[Chorus]
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a door
And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a door

this song feels sooo familiar that it terrifies me .... just such strong feeling of nostalgia ... even though i am damn sure i have never listened to this song before...... don't tell me i am the only one

This album has 60s disco or pop themes so that's what's familiar probably
You are not alone :D
Perhaps you heard Say Lou Lou's cover of this song?

This is genuinely one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, like wtf
They experimented with a new type of beat, and what they gave us was beautiful
sounds like the name of a buzzfeed article
How is the beat even experimental lol
GRECRINJA CRINGE it's not really the typr of song you'll hear on radio. This is one of my favorite song ever so is almost every song of their album but even I can admit that it will never be as popular as the more catchy and commercialized songs out there.
The world is not ready for innovation :(
mauricio loves noise he didn't said that the beats were experimental music. he said that daft punk experiment a different type of beat compared to what they usually do. I'm not even a native english speaker and it was kinda easy to understand what he meant. peace.fuck.
Julian's vocals are just perfect for this track. Clearly he is using effects but it sounds great!!! Absolute classic!!!

It's sad only these guys were true artists........and we will never hear another record from them ever again .....
These guys created 4 albums and more than 100 songs at all, you can discover a lot of another songs if you want, i know its finish, but that not really...
you gotta remember, that this is only the end of daft punk. there is no way that these two dudes aren't gonna continue making solo music. sure it's sad that they're never going to don the masks ever again (unless they do a reunion tour), but it's still worth hoping for solo stuff from them, even if it isn't coming anytime soon.
I'm sure they're gonna collaborate again in the future, when they feel up to it.

The Strokes and Julian Casablancas excel at that balance of melody and melancholy. imo the best band out there especially for their consistency and originality.
@@sum_Random_Hobo I know, I really like many of their songs too.
I like how the mannequins actually have no emotions but the situations and happenings around them makes it seem as they do just like how Daft Punk are robot machines but the music they create makes you feel human emotions.
this is related to Andersen's fairytaile "The Stedfast Tin Soldier""/...
look up the Kuleshov effect. Its a film editing effect that gets the viewer to pick out more meaning from a scene from with two back to back shots rather than one shot itself. The music video is a direct application of this
