Hayley Westenra ヘイリー 海莉 with Dame Vera Lynn & The Froncysyllte (Fron) Male Voice Choir singing "We'll Meet Again" before The Queen, and Dame Vera herself, at The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance 2009. This is one of Vera Lynn's most famous songs and there is an exciting "twist" at 2m 45s into the video when an archive video of Dame Vera herself is merged with the 'live' performance.
This performance is a tribute to Dame Vera Lynn, who is shown taking her bows at the end and who recently became the oldest living artist ever to top the UK album chart, at the age of 92.
Broadcast on BBC HD TV from The Royal Albert Hall, London on 7 November 2009. Captured edited and uploaded by Dave Ludlow in High Definition video for Hayley Westenra International - HWI.

*LYRICS*
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Til the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away
So, will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Til the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away
So, will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day...

I cried for this song, because I'm eighty five and so well remember those times.
Strangely, life was better then than this make-believe we have now. I was lucky.
I don't know if you can see this Good sir but I hope you are doing well May God bless you!
Not as old sir (64) but know what you mean! my dad was of the greatest generation
She (Vera Lynn) passed today 6-18-2020 at 103, may she forever rest in peace. She inspired then and we could use some of her inspiration today.
Who?
Rest in Peace,,... I always get gooseberry bumisita everytime I hear this song...
soooooooooooo sorry ......... R.I.P.
Her songs brought joy to the soldiers, and brings joy to the people now. May God remember the name of Very Lynn and the millions of soldiers who died on all sides.
@@karunahembrom4799 what the fuck man?
I am a german and i dont know if i will be accepted for it but i would never in a million years support what ww2 had to offer. Such a terrible Happening. God bless all of those poor souls who had to face this and suffer. It truly warms my heart to see that this song is so well respected and is still remembered greatly to this day ❤️
Accepted because from a brother country in free Europe.
The vast majority of us in all nations look back in those dark days with the same horror. Lest we forget.
Well said.., unfortunately, Man’s desire to inflict pain and suffering upon his fellow man is insatiable,
History of the world has taught us this.
But your words like many will penetrate their armour
History proves Britain and Germany shared so much culture and were so absolutely the same. I've heard those conflicts being described somewhat callously as a huge family argument! There is some truth in that in so much of Victorias boys wanted a bigger empire than the other. In my mind, what a shameful and dreadful result of the mindset back then on both sides! What they didn't foresee was a maniac with a real hatred emerging from the mess they left! Great at posturising and grabbing their lapels for a self important photoshoot but dismally bad at thinking ahead about their damage to Germany.
history is a lie agreed upon - this includes ww2. the more you know...
A star has gone out, but the songs are forever.
Her songs will live forever ❤
For a French person, who is used to saying that the British are our best enemies, the emotion of an entire people around their Queen and Vera Lynn, is a fantastic comfort in this turbulent world. Thank's for this great song.
man have some balls Britain, especially churchill's britain, can suck one
I was born in 1946 , but my dad and uncles would sing this song
And others of that era . They were my favorites and still are
I was born in 45 and like you all my family had returned from the battle fields. Certainly different times
I was a young seventeen year old Naval volunteer reserve in 1944 when I first heard Vetra Lynn singing the old standard " White Cliffs of Dover " when she was also known as "Forces Sweetheart " who could make us homesick at the front line but also raise our morale. Another British popular songstress was Ann Shelton, " the Girl with a Torchy voice " , a fair rival . I still remember many hours spent listening to a Radio SEAC , forces radio station from Colombo to their songs. i suppose not many of us are around.
Thank you for your service, Sir!
I remember this song by Vira Lynn many years back when living in UK as student I learned the song the very day first time Rodolfo Fagan from venezuela
Thankyou for your service.
we will.meet agsin !
Thank you for all you did for our future.
This song now has a renewed meaning for us all..
It certainly does.
@@janicetehie3839 : for me it is the first time I hear this music and I loved it.
Just what i was thinking. Cause in this time it has more dan ever a meaning.
Why did you say ...
Amen, to that!
My uncles and their friends would always gather around the piano and sing these wonderful songs how I miss those days a tough generation they were miss them
This beautiful song has brought tears to my eyes. Seeing all those elderly people and Vera Lynn... too much. I'm weeping while writing...Beautiful voice!!!
Played this version at my grandads funeral. I cry every time when Vera comes on screen. The orchestra were synced to her on screen vocal bloody perfectly. And the fact that the orchestra are themselves soldiers, plus the Fron male voice choir. There is so much I could say about this performance…
Yes, it’s brilliant and very emotional.
Every time I hear this song, I can't help but think of all the RAF pilots who lost their lives during the early months of the war. Brave men that we owe so very much.
Yeah only RAF though, nobody else
@@daugin Not quite correct, The Polish had their own squadrons, same as the New Zealanders and South Africans but they flew as RAF. There were over 100 pilots from NZ that flew in the Battle of Britain, 30 of whom became aces. Keith Park, also a NZ'r oversaw the defence of London.
I agree. May I also remind those (Ie, not OP) of those bomber command crew of the RAF who suffered dreadful (ie 55,000) losses during the War.
Sam Edward
to quote Churchill "Never had so many owed so much, to so few."
Her Majesty the Queen made reference to the song in her wonderful speech yesterday.
Is it allowed for me, as a German (I know my grandfather was an enemy) to say this is such a wonderful performance. I get tears in my eyes - beautiful!
Greetings from Cologne/Germany
jeck4ever I dont know what others are saying but every one can say that this is such a wonderful performance. Doesn't matter if your a terrorist, black, white, asian, fat, small, to old, german, pro-russian, pro-nazi or a damn jackass.
Captain Shephard True but it feels a little weird since this is an English war-time hymn. Some vets, right or wrong, may feel it's a sacred memory and might be best not to call out old wounds..
jeck4ever your grandfather was an ally, my friend
CarbonModZero Did you study history at all, friend?
BadChimp Maybe he is from Italy ;)
I wasn't born until after the war, but many of my earliest memories were the respect and admiration for Vera Lynn and the emotion her songs and the impact had on my elders. I can't recall a time in my life where I didn't know or couldn't sing along. When Dame Vera Lynn passed in 2020, I was in the UK. In tribute the city centre where I was played all Vera Lynn's song catalogue for several days. The atmosphere was palpable, people from every generation young and old, every nationality or ethniity sang along or wiped a tear as they smiled or acknoledged each other walking and singing as they lined for stores or banks. I felt priveliged to have been witness to this nations most distinguished and much loved lady... RIP.
started off as just a good song but then seeing the old veterans join in brought a tear to my eye....theyre the ones who faced war and the lyrics of this song mean the most to them
💯💯💯

Well it’s that time of the year again. Remembrance Service from The Royal Albert Hall.
Nothing, but nothing beats the appearances of Dame Vera Lynn over the years. That was what the audience
was awaiting, year in, year out.
It’s so special to me. My Mother was the split of her when she was very young and my Grandma
sang me all her songs. I was a weird child, singing war time songs in the 60’!
Only once I had the honour of being there, there’s absolutely nothing like it. Im familiar with The RA Hall
but this occasion is always magical.
Such magnificent memories. Thanks you
rip - another wonderful voice in heaven - what a choir must this be
My yes
And now this has today another meaning! My tribute to Vera! Very special you governed so many decades ultimately a century with you music, bravo! Eternal music, thanks Vera!
Now this afer so many months has so many reactions - for me tonight to revisit this performance and another tributute to Vera Lynn. My mother born 1921 ...
THIS 82 YR OLD OWES HIS WHOLE LIFE TO THOSE HEROIC SERVICEMEN!!! THIS LOVELY TRIBUTE MAKES GROWN MEN CRY...INCL ME......
Dame Vera will be 100 years old on March next year. She sang to my Grandpa in Burma in 1995. He was awarded the Burma Star, and treasured all his Vera Lynn books.Cheers,Julian
That's great, man. 102 by now!
jma1009 Dame Vera is now 103 years old.
she is dead now, by June 2020 :(
R.I.P Vera. you'll never be forgotten
forces sweetheart then and always
I get smoke in my eyes every time I hear the song. Greetings from Berlin.
We sure dropped a lot of hardware on you guys.
😉
Hi Dirk, I was recently in Berlin a beautiful city, may God bless us all.
Incredible and so very, very beautiful, I'm crying!!!!, oh GOD, I can't help cry!!!
Thanks a million for this video, God bless you, God bless Vera Lynn, God bless Hayley Westenra, she is fantastic!!
The room here got very dusty here all of a sudden!
Someone began cutting up a whole bunch of onions in my room.
To the memory of my father Sgnt. Marc Shalem that joined your army to fight the krauts. This song moves my heart.
Was there just an accidental explosion of a tear-gas grenade in my room???
RIP kind lady Vera
AWESOME. I was a little girl during the 40's war years, and recall vividly when my mom would listen to Vera Lynn on the radio. Though I was very small at the time, I still get chills and tears when I hear this beautiful music. Bravo Dame Vera Lynn from Michigan.
An absolutely wonderful tribute to Vera Lynn. The arrangement of the song with the full orchestra was superb, the video of Vera Lynn singing the end of the song was well done and Hayley Westenra was magnificent. It was so obvious this meant so much to her and she championed the melody with true emotion which came through in her voice.
How can you tell? Just count the tears running down your cheeks.
Beautiful voice, beautiful interpretation, like the original, thanks for you voice hayley
Been listening to Haley for about a decade. Love her voice, beautiful spirit and humble heart. I'll be listening for a lifetime. Tk u H, Westenra.
This woman is a Gem Thank You New Zealand.
Vera Lynn is a gem. What a wonderful human being she was and always will be. Thankyou Britain 😊
A song from long time ago which has meaning in these current differcult times we are in
This song will touch the hearts of any person who has Scots blood and wore military or any uniform proper Scots music
Oh my goodness, serious goose-bumps at the end! What a fabulous clip, thank you!! Best wish's from home (New Zealand).
We`ll meet again Vera, some sunny day
Wow beautiful she was Dame Vera Lynn (RIP). Tks my beautiful and beloved Hayley, what a performance! I repeat, one of the best voices from Celtic Woman. 💐From Lisbon 🇵🇹🇬🇧
Wow. Very touching. My mother used to sing this around the house back in the day. Still makes me cry all these years on.
RIP, dear Vera.
What a beautiful song and a great tribute to Vera Lynn.
Vera your a legend may you be remembered for ever
My grandpops and grandmas used to sing this song.
Miss them all. Now my own father has just passed on 17/03/2021....we'll meet again.
Vera Lynn is one of a kind. She isn't even one in a generation - there will never be anyone like her again. What a fantastic women.
God Bless the legendary Dame Vera Lynn for giving us one of the greatest inspirational songs ever made!. May you rest in peace, and your song will always be in our hearts and souls forever!!!♥
Hayley at the Royal Albert hall in London .it must be the most famous hall in the world.she is a lovely singer .
Been listening to Haley for a decade. Absolutely love her voice, Love her beautiful spirit. I'll listen for a lifetime. Tk u very much.
Vera Lynn lived from 3/20/1917 to 6/20/2020 (103 years old) Wonderful song for the soldiers to come home to !!
I weep today, as I miss The Queen, one year on.
Absolutely Exquisite!!! We Americans long for the days when our 2 countries stood together in dignity for democracy and freedom as the great bastions of the free world.
And our 2 countries still stand together for freedom -- UNLIKE the rest of Western Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, etc.) which has BETRAYED the cause of freedom and has now OPENLY SIDED WITH THE ENEMIES OF CIVILIZATION!
Truly beautiful, and the magical combination of Hayley and Dame Vera's voice is brilliant
Celebrating VE Day with Vera Lynn. My Dad's favourite war time singer Bless her!
We will miss you Dame Vera Lynn...You lived a good life...Thanks for the wonderful songs...2020 is the year of sorrows...
Beautiful, Vera and the lovely voice of Hayley...thinking of mum and my dad!
I am near 76 and my wife & I are beginning to think of the day when I depart this planet. I've asked this be the last song at Mt memorial service, that is about another 100 + years from now.😊
Brings a tear to your eye for sure.
A beautiful rendition by Hayley
I was a boy of 9 years old
In the home I was in Lincoln
The master used to have a speaker on so we could listen to Vera l
I first heard this song when it was the last song of the move, Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned to Love the Bomb. I have told my daughter that I want it played when those that attend my funeral (if anyone show up) start filing out. Vera Lynn put so much feeling in this piece, it is unbelievable.
Me Mum's Favorite. We played this piece at her Celebration of Life. The Gents with the Poppy's singing in the background add to the Sentiment. Love Her Majesty's Band in Formal Uniform and Playing note for note and Hayley singing this with Honor, Respect and Love... God Bless Our Allied Veterans and Active Service and Our American Troops who served and those that made the Supreme Sacrifice. Doc Out.
What a gathering. Amazing the way Hayley and Vera performed the duet. It's also a beautiful tribute to a time when our world was tested.
Miss Vera Lynn is still going strong at the age of 100.
Great woman, wonderful human being!
Exellently put together and what a moving performance!
Well done all
We shall remember them.
I can't stop listening to. It's great how old and new have been brought together.
I'm a 57 years' old French & i never forget this Dark period to 2 World War... and this song from Vera Lynn is always powerful !!!
In Loving Memory Vera... God Bless You (Rest in Peace).
Excellent! 5 stars for uploading and sharing, hwivid. I'm always moved to tears when I hear this song and Hayley Westenra has done it justice. She has the voice of an angel.
Annie :)
This song and the singers are just wonderful I listen to it daily.!
Lovely song
Just wonderfull. Thank you Vera and Hayley.
Wow!! I was a boy aged 9 when my father came home from the second World war. He had missed much of my young childhood. God rest him. Now, 74 years later, those times seem more & more important. Hayley of course is wonderful, and Vera Lynn so important. All I can say is this was a most moving experience and I am close to tears.
I had the pleasure of meeting Hayley Westenera in Southampton a few years and what a wonderful genuine person she is.
We'll meet again and You are always in my heart
Whenever I hear this song I think of my dad & mom..they loved Vera Lynn..they also lived through WW2 & use to share their memories of this difficult time..they’re gone now..I’d like to believe that we’ll meet again..don’t know when..don’t know where..but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day..until then..I love & miss you, dad & mom!!!
God bless you Vera Lynn you’re singing with the angels now in God’s choir! RIP
That was a tear jerker
No one has love and pride and devotion to their country like the British .
God Bless Them.
Absolutely incredible experience, this song will forever be a classic Bless Dame Vera Lynn
This ladies voice has a warmth and resonance like no other.
A great communal binder effect, which make people come close! Just what modern society needs!
What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful person. I had the honor of seeing Vera perform and she was truly one of those who come along once in a lifetime.
I've heard and loved these songs all my life
3m53 the Queen is almost shedding a tear. Who can blame her. Amazing. Watching this during Covid19 lockdown. Very moving.
思わず涙ぐむね!
Vera Lynn truly touches my heart. I felt no emotion until Vera started singing, then tears ran down my face. Bless her angelic soul❤

As individual performers or as a group they are always so good to listen to 🎼👏👏👏💐.
When they go in the train it makes me happy cry because I feel so sorry for them
Can there ever be a more wonderful and beautiful sound my tears won't stop
This song is a real tear jerker, but magnificent all the same.
Wow.... Powerful energy of love, emotion and music. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. 💖🎼🎵🎶🙏💕💐🌹
This is inspirational, both Hayley and Vera. Having been stationed in the UK in the mid-90s gave me a complete appreciation for the wonderful partnership we Americans have with the UK forces and people.
We Americans still have a wonderful partnership with the UK -- UNLIKE most of Europe!
Brilliant Hayley, for 'Our Forces' Sweet-Heart and as the Queen said, Relevant Today, to help Us All get through this Global Pandemic, Stay Safe, Stay Strong, Keep the Love for Each Other and We Can Get Through This Together, Rest In Peace 'Darling' Dame Vera Lynn and may God Bless You XXXX 😢
This gives me the chills every time I hear it.
I can't believe she is not here anymore, I miss you Vera. . .
Marvelous!Great song! great lady!We will remember them!
Love Hayley Westerna from New Zealand what a voice.
Just amazing and epic!! Just veautiful, aaaaaawwwss Celtic woman makes me feel something beautiful singing my favorite song, ;3; Hayley, Vera Lynn
very touching at the end! my english friend told me who she is. God bless her for her efforts and God bless all those who lost their lives for freedom's sake.
Great, inspiring WW2 song so beautifully done by Hayley, the orchestra and men's choir ~ just great- Hayley Westenra from New Zealand. She's a new-found discovery for me on youtube.
It is difficult for me to hook on this or another Vera Lynn posting here. I am a full admirer of Vera as Hayley here, but being a German from the sixtees I have also a long heritage. My mother born 1921 is pracitically from the same generation as Vera, she had ultimately to flee twice from today Baltic countries in 1944 and 45 as a young girl. 2004 we managed the first visit what is today Lithuania, very positive journey. Now we will meet again? Yes Vera my mother once in a time - now 99 - they have of course never met - yes but me in my heart now and so often before and will will meet again. And again! And the next generation to take this as a gift for the future!
Listening this song after Queen speech about COVID-19. We will meet againnnnnnn.....
Wonderful song a tear jerker but a fantastic song. I hope we all meet again someday.😢
The song is British but the world already considers it as universal, it is to remember our loved ones lost in wars, thanks to the composer for such a beautiful song
