I have been situated in Australia since 1959 and have never travelled to my home country in 57 years because of PTSD & Anxiety after serving in the Royal Australian Air force but Vera's songs still bring a tear to my eye, especially 'They'll Always Be An England' I wish you a very lovely and wonderful birthday this year Dame Vera Lynn and everything your heart wishes for. Great to be able to listen to her on a sunny day!, the sky is blue and there's just peace, we owe it all to the lads who fought for this very kind of peace in the UK
The world is lucky to have a person like Dame Vera Lynn still in it, with a powerful voice to remind us of the past. The passion, emotion, and strength in her voice aways bring a wistful tear to my eye as I feel a sense of pride and common good with all of her songs. Even though I am American and not that aware of her influence in WWII, until recently, I appreciate her steadfast support of British troops especially during that horrid time of German bombs reigning down on the innocent families of London starting in 1939. My Dad, now deceased, was one year older than Dame Vera and a veteran of WWII. I saw a video display on TH-cam of Dame stalwarts projecting the British flag, then Vera Lynn's picture onto the White Cliffs of Dover from the sea in honor of her birthday on March 20, 2017. That was a STAND-UP thing to do. May God Bless you Dame Vera and keep you with us for many more years.
listen up all you youngsters, this is a lesson , a masterclass in how to put a song over, that unmistakable warble in dame vera's voice, nobody can ever match it or even come close, my parents loved her all through the war my dad was sweet on her, and I sang we'll meet again at his funeral, R.I.p Dame Vera forever in our hearts
A beautiful voice singing memorable songs. Quite emotional for me, I have a picture of my father on VE Day. He was stationed at Top Cliffe near York in NE England. He is playing the piano with his comrades around. Not a single smile on any face ........... the traumatic and emotional scars were just starting, scars they would carry for life. War is hell.
Vera was the heart and soul of 'the time' ..She touched on those spaces which we can only dream of...It was just the time and the human being she was.! When I watch her films, and they makes me happy..When I see her in remembrance shows they make me proud....Those times now are lost in endless passages but Vera will continue to live on for ever! xxxx A statue is planned for her .on the white cliffs of Dover... If you see info on this....support it !
Well Dame Vera, I had my own "adventures" in Berkely Square during the 1980's. Thanks to you and the rest of the war effort, I was free to do that. Best wishes to you. I was born just after the War, and your "Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover" always makes me cry.
25th March 2019. This made me so emotional with tears in my eyes, I left the land of my birth and heritage in August 1968 to settle in Australia and I have enjoyed a wonderful free life here but this video shows me that my heart and soul are still British although sadly I will never return.
This lady is amazing. On my radio show last night, my tribute for the 63rd anniversary of D-Day, was to open the show with Dame Vera singing 'Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye'. And her voice was just as strong 50yrs later. Deffo my favourite centenarian.
THANK YOU You Tube for this video. It brought so many memories of my childhood years, listening to Vera sing on our wireless during the dark times we all endured. I must admit to shedding a few tears hearing that marvellous, familiar voice. Closing my eyes and just listening to her, is still magic. Long may she continue.
An English Rose who inspires to this day! Never give in and let's fight the awful virus with Vera singing to us. God Bless everyone....we'll meet again.
When you think about it, you can get a personality in Doris Day or Jo Stafford or Barbara Streisand. What you hear with Vera Lynn is plain and simple--I mean that as a compliment. It is like realizing the Plain Jane is really a beauty.
I fell in love with Vera Lynn when I was 14 years old! Vera has just recorded 'The London I Love' I am now 88 years of age and still listen to her singing as often as I can! Denis Sansom, Sou th Africa.
I grew up with this beautiful voice always in my ear and it never went away throughout my life. Thankfully through Wonderfull audio and video recordings it will be with me for the rest of life. No politician or General was as inspirational during WW-II than Vera Lynn. A beautiful voice and person who made a huge difference at a time when one was needed. I don't know where or when but I hope We'll meet again some sunny day!
Just pure naturally gifted voice. Amazing to know that someone, or anyone for that matter of fact can still sing with the minimum of effort at the age of 78. Her voice is still as powerful as it was 50 years ago, but yet so gentle and soothing to the ears. Dame Vera Lynn died of natural causes today at the ripe old age of 103. May her blessed soul rest in peace. She's now singing with the angels in heaven. Britain has lost a gem of a icon.
What a beautiful lady and wonderful voice, that encouraged England through the war. Just discovered her tonight, my bad. This was an awesome presentation.
The 75th anniversary celebrations brought me here...what magnificent poise and elegance and that voice! To be there that night would have been forever memorable. ..bravo Dame Vera Lynn..bravo indeed 🎼
Where are you situated now? , Spring is slowly beginning here, the sounds and smells, even how the sun shines after a daft winter .....ohhh I love it!!
Such an inspiration for the British victims of the Nazis, helping to maintain hope while enduring devastating terror from the sky, 24hrs a day... the AirRaid sirens at the end are a hair-raising reminder of incoming Nazi terror. But, then after the war ended, they practically disowned Sr. Winston Churchill, the other great inspiration for British citizens DURING the war--- as an American, I'll never understand.. . RIP Dame Vera Lynn-- that you saved many souls with your songs of hope for the future.
To all who put 22 dislikes here: what do you expect to see here ? Give respect to her, how do you feel and live if you were 102 years old ? Most of us were a little bit lower, a bit weaker and a bit fragile with half her well lived 102 years, at 78 she was capable to sing a whole show with magnificent power and intonation of voice, most of all merely will be capable of to spell some words at 50...
At 78 in this clip.. Her voice was still so young and strong sounding.... a true gem

I couldn't agree with you more, the Wonderful Dame Vera God Bless her.
I was there that night and have always had the highest regard for this lovely lady. Must admit though, her songs bring tears to my eyes.
Tarquin45as am American goose bumps. My mother sings these songs ... her memory of england is strong ... and I am only 26 years old. England is young to her,
.
I'm from Dover and when you're far from home Vera Lynn brings you back. Happy Birthday Vera
👏👏
I'm 87 and listening to Vera sing brings me to tears because I am English and was there in those times.
She was a big part of a generation which we will never see again!
I can't believe how well her voice held up in the 50 intervening years. She sounds absolutely amazing.
Vera Lynn, a British treasure.
yes
She was good
A beautiful voice singing memorable songs.
I sing at assisted and memorie care facilities and these are the songs that I sing for my senior citizens
Very kind of you. I am sure you touch the sentiments of these dear old people.
A tribute to Vera's beautiful, undiminished voice and talent. A tribute to epic spirit of Great Britain as well.
I was there I will never forget. I am a Yank. This was absolutely a lifetime experience.
Rest in peace Dame Vera Lynn, I’m not old at all and these songs give me a different feeling to any modern song ❤
You are certainly not the only one; listening to her always bring tears to my eyes.
How many 79 year olds can still perform, and with undiminished voice
Almost none, todays singers are an absolute disgrace aided by autotune.
Judy Collins
Can't bring anyone to mind....except this beautiful lady 😊
She is wonderful! Can't stop crying!
She was 78 years old at the time of this celebration. And today she's 103!
Amazing memories my friend.
She sounds SO wonderful. Her voice is still so pure, strong and beautiful. Just incredible!
Vera Lynn the greatest singer ever/so far....Elvis a distant second
I had the privileged to work with her at the BBC..t.v. In 1958
Amazing lady ,great romaqntic songs make me cry,,,,so emotional....
Happy 100th Birthday to a beautiful lady Dame Vera
An English Rose who inspires to this day! Never give in and let's fight the awful virus with Vera singing to us. God Bless everyone....we'll meet again.
she just turned 102 yesterday, god bless
ewk alt cool
God has blessed her and given her long years.
she’s now passed, god bless her soul for touching all who have heard her music.
My goodness, she is simply excellent! So plain and simple and lovely a voice.
When you think about it, you can get a personality in Doris Day or Jo Stafford or Barbara Streisand. What you hear with Vera Lynn is plain and simple--I mean that as a compliment. It is like realizing the Plain Jane is really a beauty.
She was actually A Gorgeous Beauty back in the day and possibly one of if not the Greatest singers we have ever heard
Rest in peace Dame Vera Lynn, and thank you for the music. You will always be a symbol of hope and liberty for all.
Thank you Vera, wherever you may be!❤️🇨🇦
76 years old Marine USA and she brought me to tears
A truly remarkable lady. The original Forces sweetheart. Wishing the 1 and only Dame Vera Lynn a very happy 100th birthday for this coming Monday.
I fell in love with Vera Lynn when I was 14 years old!
Vera has just recorded 'The London I Love'
I am now 88 years of age and still listen to her singing as often as I can!
Denis Sansom,
Sou th Africa.
@@denissansom2479 I hope you are still alive and good health. God bless you, I love to hear some memoried of your life.
I was actually born VE Day 1945 and have enjoyed this lovely ladies voice all my life.
Britain has lost a gem of a icon.
this is just adorable. from bad days, she kept the lads spirits up, and I don't think even today she knows how much she meant to them.
What a beautiful lady and wonderful voice, that encouraged England through the war. Just discovered her tonight, my bad. This was an awesome presentation.
Fabulous!!!! Thanks, Dame Vera!!!!
The 75th anniversary celebrations brought me here...what magnificent poise and elegance and that voice! To be there that night would have been forever memorable. ..bravo Dame Vera Lynn..bravo indeed 🎼
I’ve been away from England 50 years and miss it every day, this brought tears to my eyes
The idiots, are not worth bothering about.Every vid on TH-cam has the idiots.
The 22 are just dumb. We were in awe of this lady and what she did for her country.i will die loving her as much as during war in UK.
@@gordonrobertson9072 I am guessing you are well in your 90's, God bless you sir, I wish you many more years in good health!
One of the very great morale builders of WW ll and an unmatched voice.
