In this video I go over my process of extracting a broken balancer bolt on this 2000 GMC Jimmy. This method should be applicable to similar situations.

Worked out great for you. Most don’t take the time to think the problem through. You can’t be in a hurry. Any job is possible. Great mechanics know how to use what they have. Sacrificing the sockets for a jig was a great idea. Weld was fine…it didn’t break.

I have almost the same issue with a 98 Dodge Neon, i think i'm going to use the same method of sacrificing some old sockets. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

You wire needs to be right at the tip, not sticking outside at all. Also your welder is chopping, it should make a nice smooth noise. Make sure your tank is at about 15psi for argon/co2.
I would have drilled it.
Last, plese keep your fingers away from the cutting wheel.

this somehow happened on my mustang while it was running and it died out i just found out thats what it wsa took me quite a bit of time. now to try and get the broken bolt out

I'm about to try the welding technique but with copper tubing to guide my wire to the broken bolt. the wire won't stick to the copper.
