You don't need to single out songs, they're the only group whose songs are all good, excellent and the best. You don't know which one is better than which.

"James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 - July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter and poet who was the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band the Doors. Due to his energetic persona, poetic lyrics, distinctive voice, erratic and unpredictable performances, along with the dramatic circumstances surrounding his life and early death, Morrison is regarded by music critics and fans as one of the most influential frontmen in rock history. Since his death, his fame has endured as one of popular culture's top rebellious and oft-displayed icons, representing the generation gap and youth counterculture . . . . Morrison developed an alcohol dependency, which at times affected his performances on stage. In 1971, Morrison died unexpectedly in a Paris apartment at the age of 27, amid several conflicting witness reports. Since no autopsy was performed, the cause of Morrison's death remains disputed . . . ."

If you want more Doors, try Break on Through, People are Strange or Light My Fire. They kind of mixed blues, jazz and rock all into one. Good timing because this year marks 60 years since their debut. Their singer was more like a poet, backed with guitar, drums and either piano or organ, depending on the song.

Watch the movie *The Doors* with Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison and you'll get it.
The Doors is a 1991 American biographical film directed by Oliver Stone and written by Stone and Randall Jahnson. It is based on the history of American rock band the Doors and their influence on music and counterculture. The film stars Val Kilmer as singer Jim Morrison, Meg Ryan as Morrison's girlfriend Pamela Courson, Kyle MacLachlan as keyboardist Ray Manzarek, Frank Whaley as lead guitarist Robby Krieger, Kevin Dillon as drummer John Densmore, Billy Idol as Cat, and Kathleen Quinlan as journalist Patricia Kennealy.
The film portrays Morrison as a larger-than-life icon of 1960s rock and roll and counterculture, including portrayals of Morrison's recreational drug use, free love, hippie lifestyle, alcoholism, interest in hallucinogenic drugs as entheogens, and his growing obsession with death, presented as threads which weave in and out of the film.

Jim Morrison recorded the song "L.A. Woman" on a toilet, singing into the same microphone used on the Doors' final tour. If you listen to DOORS LIVE, the 2nd half is mostly poems mixed with music/songs. Jim was pretty deep sometimes.

Many of the songs in the late 60's and early 70's weren't necessarily dance songs. This song was a great song to have blaring in the car as you drove around. When we had parties we didn't dance. We played the music as we sat around listening to and doing whatever the teenagers were doing at the time.

Basic blues song but you've now been introduced to Jim Morrison and the Doors. They were a rock band with a jazz drummer, a classical pianist and a poet lead singer. The footage showed some of the many times Jim got hisself arrested on stage.

    • @johnplaysgames3120
      @johnplaysgames3120 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

Let's not forget the guitarist, who combined flamenco and classical with rock and many other textures. Also, I'll add that Ray Manzarek wasn't just a classical pianist, he was heavy into Chicago blues, which is why songs like this and LA Woman get such a bluesy vibe on the keys. Morrison, on the other hand, saw himself as both a poet and an old Delta blues man, so their bluesier songs got a mix of various blues influences.

The Beesleys cannot possibly connect with people who grew up with this, it goes way beyond music appreciation, but a view of the times as well. They were born in the 1990s. Yes, The Doors were Very popular. I was born in 1950, so they were big during my teenage years. The only song of theirs that I liked was "Light My Fire".
LOVE that you are reacting to the songs of my youth. Really having fun watching you discover them. If you are unfamiliar with Beatles music, I'd love for you to react to some of them. Especially since they are Brits. They really did change our music pretty much over night. Before them, nobody outside of America had ever influenced American music. I was a "Beatle Maniac", for sure.
So how about reacting to some music that's happening today on youtube? Would LOVE for you to react to some of Gabriel Henrique's videos. He sings in English, but doesn't actuall speak English. Amazing!
    1. "Earth Song" (Michael Jackson cover),
    2. "And I am Telling You, (I'm Not Going") (Jennifer Hudson & Jennifer Holiday cover ftom the Broadway hit, "Dream Girls),
    3. "I Want To Know What Love Is" (Foreigner cover). He's done several versions of this song, but I recommend the one he does in his car. (Some people accused him of using various enhancements, so he has recorded several songs in his car to debunk those accusations. )
He was on America's Got Talent & won the Golden Buzzer from Sophia Vergara.
I promise. You won't be sorry. Thanx.

The Doors were one of the top rock groups from something like 1967 to 1971 and had many hits. There was a biopic with Val Kilmer as Doors singer Jim Morrison.
At the time this song came out, or when this concert took place, there were no music videos. Where would you have watched one? I guess once in a blue moon someone might make one for TV, but this video is some crap someone put together much later.
Their signature song is "Light My Fire," but they have lots of hits.

The Doors and Jim Morrison in particular were known to not be the favorite of police departments of the late 60s. Jim Morrison was arrested onstage numerous times for things like smoking or making gestures that were considered lewd by the prurient laws of the time. You see a couple of his arrests in the video along with the arrests of people under the guise of being fans trying to attack the band. The later 60s in America were quite a mixed bag of emotions. Yes, I was there as a quite young teen and was totally confused by a lot of the goings on.

The musical genius comes from the combination of all four of them. Robbie wrote about 1/4 of the songs, and they all collaborated to put the arrangements together. Eliminate any one of them, and you wouldn't have The Doors as we know them.
Everybody says Jim was a genius, but I don't see it. He definitely was book smart and had a way with words, but outside of that? Well, look at where he is now.

The Doors were the 60s. A rock band made up of 3 jazz musicians and a poetic lyric writing lead singer. Their catalogue is a deep dive, and every song is different. Your best bet is with their studio recordings. Due to Jim Morrison's substance abuse issues, their live performances were hit or miss. He'd show up late, wasted, forget lyrics, go off on rants, as well as the police issues you get a glimpse of in the footage here. He was arrested at least 10 times, and was convicted of supposedly exposing himself onstage in Miami. Most people agree he didn't do it, just pretended to. After conviction, a $50,000 fine, and finishing their final album LA Woman, he fled to France, where he died in 1971, to avoid 6 months in prison. He was pardoned in 2010, but in the 60s, he was seen as a threat to public order, morals, and a radical subversive by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies who targeted him.

Ray Manzarek on the Gibson organ. The organ came to the front of many rock songs of the late 60's.
Jim Morrison was arrested in New Haven Connecticut, pretty sure for inciting a riot. ie.. he was making out with a girl younger than the cop thought he should be doing such. And used mace on Morrison to subdue, and then dragged him off the stage.
The arrest in Miami I think was for lewd behavior and profanity. After the show the band travels to Jamaica and Morrison is charged with a felony for fleeing Miami.
And the Jim is still alive campaign continued for years. As the true believers knew Jim hadn't really died in Paris, with my theory being that he lived on an horse farm in Oregon until he died at age 71.

The Doors were definitely a big deal back in the day, and LONG after. The Doors were a band from the 60s, and despite the fact that their singer, Jim Morrison, died at age 27 in 1971, they were still a huge deal when I was growing up in the 80s. I remember reading about how, even decades after they were first released, Doors albums were still outselling current artists.
As for next Doors songs to react to:
    - BREAK ON THROUGH is a good straight-ahead rocker (it was the song that opened their debut album).
    - THE CRYSTAL SHIP is a lot more chill and poetic.
    - LA WOMAN is more of the blues vibe you heard in this song, but leaning more in the rock direction.
    - LIGHT MY FIRE was their biggest, most pop style hit.
    - THE END is basically **the** signature Doors song and is the one I'd suggest to people who want the quintessential Doors experience (though I fear it might freak Millie out a little bc it's more theatrical and poetic than something you'd bump in the car or dance to at a wedding).
    - FIVE TO ONE is good if you want to feel a little bit of the 1960s countercultural revolution.
    - WHEN THE MUSIC'S OVER is a nice mix of music and poetry.
    - NOT TO TOUCH THE EARTH is a personal favorite and, tbh, I think another perfect example of the Doors vibe, but it's not one that gets requested a lot (despite being the origin of Jim Morrison's infamous "Lizard King" nickname), but it's pretty great (and will probably also freak Millie out a little).

One mitigating factor is that he was drunk when he was doing that live performance. But in my book, there's no excuse for exposing yourself to an audience that might possibly have minors in it.

Not so much this song, but much of the music made by The Doors is an acquired taste. Listening to them as a teenager expanded my musical horizons. I know of no band that has a "more unique" sound. The members were musically eclectic. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek had a background in jazz and possibly classical music; guitarist Robby Krieger in classical music and flamenco guitar; drummer John Densmore in jazz, classical music, and other genres from around the world; and singer Jim Morrison was a mad poet.

No doubt he was on acid or something else even bigger. Definitely high. He was part of the psychedelic rock scene end of the 60s, beginning of 70s. People are Strange is a good song of their’s.

The Doors amazing band but very damaged people in the end. Great movie with Val Kilmer on this band.

Not sure where you are getting these songs from lately. Many of the groups are from my generation, but I've never heard of most of the songs you play, including this one.

You've never heard of Roadhouse Blues? I take it you were not a Doors fan back in the day then. This isn't exactly an obscure track. I mean, I get that there are people who only ever heard "Light My Fire" on the radio and didn't realize the Doors had a huge catalog of songs that are now classics, but, if that's the case, let me tell ya: This song is not some random B-side that no one's ever heard of. It's a huge song in the Doors catalog.
It actually *was* released as a B-side (the B-side to "You Make Me Real," which peaked at 50 on the Billboard charts) but it also charted on its own, was the album opener for the Morrison Hotel album, was played a ton on rock radio stations (despite its chart performance), went Platinum in the US, became a staple hit in their live shows, was ranked 11th best rock song of all time by Time Out, shows up TWICE in the Doors movie (including over the closing credits), was one of the songs the surviving Doors members (along with Eddie Van Halen) played at the Doors' induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and has been covered by SO MANY other bands.
As for where Millie and James got it: "Roadhouse Blues" is a song that gets requested A LOT for Doors reactions on reaction channels specifically because so many people do know it and its a beloved Doors track.

One last chance. Stop being fake for your views. Comments are important. Read them. True reactions. Research. Take Heart.
Is this a game? Let’s make another.

You have the most amateurish, clueless, reaction channel of all (and that takes some doing) why does anyone bother responding to you? yes I know I have, but only to
let you know, if I am feeling down, you are good for a laugh.
