    Ray Manzerak is totally underrated, he is one of the best rock keyboardists of all time.

      Ray was just too good and too cool. Ray and Jon Lord are such badasses, they were main members of serious rock groups who made keyboards/organs work flawless which is so damn hard to do.

    The Doors were amazing. Yes, they were huge, but most of their history was during the late 60s, not the 70s. Most of their songs were lead singer Jim Morrison's poetry set to music written by the rest of the band: keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore & guitarist Robby Krieger. The Doors rarely took the stage sober!! Jim Morrison was one of the most charismatic front men in rock history. He died in 1971 at the age of 27 (one of the infamous 27 Club). The rest of the band continued on as a trio for a couple more albums, but the magic was gone. The Doors weren't together for a long time, but their influence is still felt to this day. RIP Jim & Ray. Other Doors musts are Light My Fire (their biggest hit), The End, When The Music's Over, L.A. Woman, Riders On The Storm, Break On Through, Love Her Madly, Touch Me, Back Door Man, Twentieth Century Fox, Love Me Two Times, Moonlight Drive and Hello I Love You.

    YES!!! SOME DOORS!!! My popz favorite band. So of course of grew up listening to them. Jim Morrison’s poetry lyrics and wild lifestyle, Ray Manzarek’s steady but crazy keyboard playing and Robby Krieger’s finger picking electric guitar playing! Definitely made for a unique band! Morrison was one of those people that are destined for fame but never seemed satisfied. When my father passed. The last song played at his funeral was The Doors song The End.

      @@edmonahan6094 I'm a true fan, and I liked the movie... a little bit. Good entertainment, but I don't take it seriously. What disappointed me is that though it was called "The Doors", it was all about Jim; not the Doors. Ray, Robie and john, when they weren't being ignored, were made to look like goof-balls. THAT I did NOT like! I'm a fan of THE DOORS; not just Jim. But it was a cool drama; not to be taken as an accurate documentary.

    • @Serai3
      @Serai3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not really. He did some acid before recording their first album, which is where all the songs came from. But Jim was an alcoholic, not a tripper. He rarely did more than smoke weed after the first year or so.

    You have much more to explore from this group. Every album has major musical moments.
    I was lucky and got to see them just before they broke big. I saw them in a venue of less than 300 people for less than $3.00. There were no seats so there was much friendly milling about and dancing. It was wonderful. The girls were there to worship morrison but my friends and I were guitar god worshipers so they gathered in front of jim and we watched krieger...for a couple of songs and then we went into the back of the hall to play and dance with the hippy chicks...I think I said it was wonderful...

    I was 13 in 1970 and in my bedroom The Doors were HUGE!! They were the biggest thing in America or in the world for their time they were only around a couple years though I loved them from the very beginning to the very end when Jim Morrison died at 27 years old, along with Jimi Hendrix at 27 years old, along with legendary blues God Robert Johnson at 27 years old, along with Janis Joplin at 27 years old, along with Amy Winehouse at 27 years old, and along with Curt Cobain at 27 years old.. they are known as the "27 Club" all great musicians and entertainers... try "Peace Frog" or "5 to 1" by The Doors... PEACE!!

    They were more of a 60s band. They formed in 1965. Hit it big with "Light My Fire" which went to #1 in 1967, from their first album. Their last album, L.A. Woman, was released in 1971. Singer and lyricist Jim Morrison died of heart failure in Paris in July 1971. He was a full blown alcoholic but didnt use heroin. However it is rumoured that he may have done some the night he died with his girlfriend Pam who was a known heroin user. He was 27 years old.

      Actually it was based on John Densmore's book Riders on the Storm. Everyone thinks it was based on Sugarman's book because it was written first but it was Densmore's that Stone based the movie on. (Though I would argue at least 25% of the movie never actually happened or at least nowhere near in the way Stone presented it. I've seen the movie and I have both of those books.)
