I have requested The Doors a couple of times. Glad to finally hear them. Amber should really enjoy Love Her Madly, Light My Fire, Touch Me, Hello I Love You, Break On Through... and Riders On the Storm. Obviously, I think she will love their whole discography.
I follow a few reactors, love you guys. I’m 70 years old and have been listening to some of this music for 50 plus years. Seeing your delite and your comments have given me a new appreciation for the music I grew up with. Keep up the great work.
As an old lady of the 60s, and loving your channel as I do, I’m excited that you’re about to discover Jim Morrison and the Doors! Some of my favorite Doors songs are: Love me two times, riders on the storm, light my fire, touch me. Enjoy!
The lead singer, Jim Morrison, is legend. The Doors burst on the music scene in 1967 with their great song, "Light My Fire." They, with bands like Cream; Buffalo Springfield; Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and more, really changed the music of the late Sixties
Ray Manzarek on keyboards is the underrated heart of this band. The Doors have no bass guitar player at all. As i understand it, when they had once thought to add a bass player early on, Ray Manzarek experimented instead with a "bass keyboard" and from that time on, they never considered having a electric bass player and all the rhythm normally kept with the bass and drums, are instead utilizing the bass keyboard and drums as rhythm section. And all the while, Ray is playing the normal "lead" keyboard music also. I have never heard of another band doing such a thing.
Ray Neapolitan was their regular bass player during the Morrison Hotel sessions, but the day the base lines for Roadhouse Blues were recorded Ray was stuck in traffic, and Lonnie Mack just happen to have been in the studio as he was working for Electra A&R at the time - Yea, I'm a Doors freak, read the book No One Here Gets Out Alive - and an aside : Oliver Stones movie was a shit box of lies and garbage, though Val Kilmer was excellent,.. Oliver Stone is a fucking hack, Ray Manzarek not only hated Stone for the what he did to their story and to Jim's memory, he refused to even speak about the movie later and would literally get up and leave an interview if Stones Movie was brought up
@@eximusic Actually, they used a studio bassist on every album they recorded, Ray used the Fender Rhoades Bass piano to carry the bass duties when they were on stage
Side note, Formation: the Doors were originally Rick & the Ravens, with Ray, Rick, and Jim Manzarek, along with John Densmore on Drums and Patty Sullivan on Bass, When Ray's brothers left the band Ray recruited Morrison to sing and they brought in Robbie Krieger on guitar, they auditioned several bass players that none of them liked, so Ray decided to use the Fender Rhodes to handle bass work and they went without a bass player. they were planning to recuit a bass player eventually, but then got signed to elektra and they just said "fuck it" and went on without one - I know thats more information than you'd ever need, but I'm a self made library of useless Doors information :)
Jim Morrison, like Janis, is a member of the 27 club. Tortured souls make incredible music. If only we could help them conquer their demons and stay a while.
For The Doors you've got to listen to "L.A. Woman" and "Riders On The Storm", two of their biggest hits and both outstanding songs. Also, one of my favorites that you didn't hear much back in the day and rarely hear now, "The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)" And for some low down, dirty, sleazy blues, it would be hard to beat The Doors doing "Car Hiss By My Window".
Singer-jim morrison Keyboard-ray manzarek Guitar-roby krieger Drums-john densmore Love the doors. Check out “the crystal ship”,”riders on the storm”,”the end” and all the rest of their songs
Being a child of the 50s and 60s, born in 1951, I love that you guys are discovering and digging the music from the Golden Era of Rock and Roll, blues, R&B, etc. It was a period of incredible creativity in music. A little context for you, a "road house" was a precursor of truck stops. On most major highways that trucks traveled road houses were abundant. Out back of the road house were one room "bungaloes" where ladies of the evening plied their trade.
I ALWAYS said to my mom, " I'm so jealous of you. I cant remember the first time I heard "Satisfaction " or any of these amazing songs that I grew up hearing. I just always knew them!!✌
I have loved the doors for so so many years. I hate that Jim passed away so young!! What a great frontman he was for the band. They have so so many great songs, all very different! The whole band was very talented !! Great choice today!! I hope you grow to love them too!! Jim’s voice for me is haunting as hell. Robby is the guitarist, I’m telling you because when Jim says “ do it Robbie do it” . NEXT….” Light my fire” by the doors

there are too many songs to suggest: a treasure trove. Jim Morrison is the only singer/artist whose grave I wanted to and did visit in Paris. (There is no longer a stone top/headstone, etc. as they are continually taken) - listen to as many as possible, you will love them all.

They did all of this with only three instruments (keyboard, guitar, and drums) plus the harmonica and, of course, Jim’s voice. This is part of what makes the band so amazing-that they could produce such a rich sound with three instruments. Basically, every song they recorded was genius.

Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about guys! RIP Jim and Ray. Can not go wrong with the Doors, I mean come on, they had the Lizard King!! Thx Squad once again, you guys rock!!¡
This is one of my favorite Doors songs - in addition to "The Crystal Ship", "Riders on the Storm", "Love Her Madly", "Break on Through", "People Are Strange", "LA Woman", "Five to One" and pretty much anything the others have suggested.
Fun fact: the Doors did not have a bass player. The “bass” notes you hear are made with a synthesizer. Also, the singer, Jim Morrison, once or twice “sings” what you think is the guitar solo in a song. It sounds like a guitar but it’s just him making guitar noises into a microphone.
Incorrect, Manzarek played the bass parts on a Fender Rhodes piano keyboard bass,.. it was not a synth, Though in the studio the bass lines were played by Lonnie Mack
They did add a session bass player on some songs in their latter albums. I don’t remember his name, don’t wanna Google, but they hired Elvis’ bass player on songs like Touch Me, most of the L.A. Woman album, some tracks off of Morrison Hotel (Peace Frog leaps to mind).
@@XXMycroftX couple things. First of all, the Rhodes as absolutely a synthesizer. You can argue semantics all day long, but a keyboard that makes sound other than standard piano sounds is called a synthesizer. I don’t make the rules, but you don’t get to change them to look smart on the internet. Second, listing off studio bassists who laid down tracks with them does not make those people band members. Kerry King laid down lead tracks with Pantera but he wasn’t a member.
@@showmesomethingnew2678 I never said Lonnie Mack or Ray Neapolitan were members of the Doors, Not even close. they took part in the recording of Morrison Hotel and Lonnie specifically on that song, which makes them hired guns, studio musicians,... as for the synth, not synth question, The Fender Rhodes Piano was called a piano, not a Synthesizer, it's called a piano by Fender, and in every musical insturment catalogue I've ever seen it in,.... a "synthesizer" is technically defined as "an electronic musical instrument, typically operated by a keyboard, producing a wide variety of sounds by generating and combining signals of different frequencies." so I suppose a Wurlitzer Piano is a synth by your description as well, but ask a pianist, he'll beg to differ with you
@@XXMycroftX I’ve got a better idea than this. Let’s have some respect for Jay and Amber and not do this on their thread. You just have a good night and keep loving music, and I’ll do the same. None of the rest of it really matters.
This has a lot of Chicago blues with that jazz sound, but most of it reminds me of blues juke joint music in the South early on. This song is a raw, raucous, unhinged good time.
Jim Morrison was a deep, yet troubled poet. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with his demons, but not before sharing some amazing music with the world. RIP Mr. Mojo Risin (an anagram by which he called himself).
GREAT REACTION the Doors are the thinking person’s band. The music is epic and Jim is an Icon. Very deep thinker, poet, directorwriter etc. he had a zest for life and wanted to push the limits consciousness and creativity - You r gonna love this journey! Very jealous hearing for first time.
You have now opened up something that you're not gonna want to close. They were fire!!! When the musics over, the end, light my fire, and break on through is some more great doors tunes. Jim Morrison was their lead singer. They came out in the mid to late 60's and one of my favorite bands. They made a movie about them in the 90's staring Val Kilmer as Jim. Great movie also
The lead singer was Jim Morrison. Another singer that died young. There is a great movie about The Doors where Jim is played by actor Val Kilmer who was nominated for best actor for the role and looked and acted so much like him that the members of the band said they could not tell that it wasnt Jim.
@@KM769 There is a 45 minute interview with him where he talks about how Oliver Stone spurned his ideas for the movies script and that is where his "negative" view of the movie came from which magically was given at the time his own book came out about the band several YEARS after the movie. Interviews before his book came out about the movie were all positive which means his negative view was merely to try to get people to buy his book.
That piano is Ray Manzarek…one of the greatest keyboardist of all time. The old joke is “who plays bass in the Doors?” Ray’s Left Hand! They didn’t have a bass player. He played a bass organ w his left hand and keys w his right. Brilliant!
Lead singer is James Douglas “jim” Morrison who unfortunately is part of the legendary 27 club someone plays him in Wayne’s world where he is the spirit guide for Wayne you need to listen to riders on the storm and light my fire by the doors arguably the 2 most well known but most loved also 😁👌🏻

The Doors were ahead of there time, they could go from the blues to jazz to psychedelic and even flamenco as in Spanish Caravan. I first got into the Doors in high school, back in the late 70's and have been a fan ever since. Two songs I think you would enjoy listening to are, Riders on The Storm and Spanish Caravan. Love your channel guys, and look forward to your next video.
A Doors classic from the 1979 movie "Apocalypse Now" is "The End" , Riders on The Storm , and "Love Her Madly" are three of my favorites from The Doors... besides "Roadhouse Blues"... in my book I Love all The Doors songs. Thank you both very much for this reaction .
Touch Me has always been one of my favorites. And they were my favorite band in high school too (end of the 80s). I tried to record anything that aired about them back then (on vhs 😁). In one documentary, I think Ray said “man” no fewer than 100 times. It was pretty funny. They’re one band I’ve never gotten tired of. My other favorite - Gloria. I was a teenager, and it made me feel like a rebel. 😂
That just reminded me, y’all should react to Patti Smith on Female Friday! She’s *basically* the mother of Punk Rock, and was hugely influenced by Jim Morrison (singer for The Doors). Because The Night Gloria (cover song) Horses Her cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) Land
They have a bunch of great songs but one of my absolute favorites is Don't You Love Her Madly. There's just something so beautiful about it. Rest in peace Jim.
I think the term you’re looking for in Jim Morrison’s voice is “resonance.” It’s that smooth melodic almost vibrato quality his voice has, definitely recognizable. And I agree with other members that you must do Riders on the Storm and Light My Fire, both classics! Great review! ♥️
Another good and underrated Doors song, and one of their songs that's had less radio play than their "hits", is "Been Down So Long" off the "L. A. Woman" album. Another really bluesy song.

One of the great bands of the 60's its hard to believe they are gone
But this was released in 1970
Personnel:
Jim Morrison: Vocals
Ray Manzarek: Keyboards
Robby Krieger: Guitar
John Densmore: Drums
Bass: Lonnie Mack
Harmonica: G. Puglese (AKA John Sebastian of "The Lovin' Spoonful")
I have requested The Doors a couple of times. Glad to finally hear them. Amber should really enjoy Love Her Madly, Light My Fire, Touch Me, Hello I Love You, Break On Through... and Riders On the Storm.
Obviously, I think she will love their whole discography.
It doesn't get listed often, but their "Soft Parade" is worth a listen.
Soft Parade is the best of the best. My all time favorite of theirs.
I follow a few reactors, love you guys. I’m 70 years old and have been listening to some of this music for 50 plus years. Seeing your delite and your comments have given me a new appreciation for the music I grew up with. Keep up the great work.
Keep rocking in my 60's
big ole ditto, 87 here in NM and watching your enjoyment, gettin with the beat made my day!!!!
Same here. I miss the '70's
The Doors is practically the soundtrack of the 60's.
If you’re from SoCal
May I suggest "Peace Frog" by The Doors!! No one ever reacts to this one and it is so funky and trippy!! Right up your alley, Amber!!!
As an old lady of the 60s, and loving your channel as I do, I’m excited that you’re about to discover Jim Morrison and the Doors! Some of my favorite Doors songs are: Love me two times, riders on the storm, light my fire, touch me. Enjoy!
Moonlight Drive!! Love Street!!
Always makes me so...happy,to see people open their minds to all the music spectrum...if you don't experience it all you miss out!
Peace out!
Crystal ship, Backdoor man, Five to One, Break on through, Peace Frog & Maggie McGill.
Me too and me too! 💕🎼✌️
Oliver Stone is a fucking hack, Ray Manzarek not only hated Stone for the what he did to their story and to Jim's memory, he refused to even speak about the movie later and would literally get up and leave an interview if Stones Movie was brought up
I would like for you to do a reaction video to the changeling from there last album LA woman
This was the album they had a bass player on
@@eximusic Actually, they used a studio bassist on every album they recorded, Ray used the Fender Rhoades Bass piano to carry the bass duties when they were on stage
If only we could help them conquer their demons and stay a while.
along with Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse
And Kurt Cobain.
The difference is Jim wouldn't have been 300 pounds by 1980 had he lived, I'd bet the farm Janis would have been at least 300....lol
yes Jim , JImi and Janis are known as the iconic 3
Brian Jones
You can't go wrong with The Doors, People are Strange, Break on Thorough, Love Her Madly. You guys are about to start a journey!
"When I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer", yes, that's my young self talking! Great reaction Jay & Amber..
I believe he says a beard. I always thought he said beer.
Peace Frog is a great Doors song. Kind of a deep cut, but a real banger.
For The Doors you've got to listen to "L.A. Woman" and "Riders On The Storm", two of their biggest hits and both outstanding songs. Also, one of my favorites that you didn't hear much back in the day and rarely hear now, "The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)"
And for some low down, dirty, sleazy blues, it would be hard to beat The Doors doing "Car Hiss By My Window".
How about 'You Need Meat'? Now, there is some dirty sleazy blues from them!
Singer-jim morrison
Keyboard-ray manzarek
Guitar-roby krieger
Drums-john densmore
Love the doors. Check out “the crystal ship”,”riders on the storm”,”the end” and all the rest of their songs
What a band!
Very well said.long live rock n roll
I ALWAYS said to my mom, " I'm so jealous of you. I cant remember the first time I heard "Satisfaction " or any of these amazing songs that I grew up hearing. I just always knew them!!✌
Road house blues is from 1970
As someone also born in '51 You're spot on!
My absolutely favorite Doors song is “People are Strange”. The Doors are an absolutely amazing and influential group, One of my top all time bands to listen to
My brother had the 45, with "Riders on the Storm" and "People are Strange". Pretty sure we played it over and over.
@@joelspringman7748 Hi, honey. I also listened to the Doors on my record player.
People are strange is basically a premonition for the human oddities we see today
I think you guys missed Jim in the end of the song saying YIKES!
Jim Morrison is the lead singer and he has so many different sounds. All GOOD!!!
"Riders On The Strom" "Break On Through" "Light My Fire" "Changeling" ALL are superb
Blues ROCK is rockin'
The teenagers in my hood have rediscovered The Doors and it's so adorable!
I remember when my son s discovered The Doors and Jimi Hendrix. It was cute.
The Doors are the definition of west coast rock late 60s early 70s
Other songs: LA Woman, Five to One , Peace Frog, Backdoor Man, Soft Parade, The Changeling and Riders on the Storm.
"There are things known and unknown and in between there are .....The Doors "
- Jim Morrison
Best Description of His Band. In his inimitable style..The One and Only..
An American Poet.
Born in the USA, Rests in Paris. Conquered the World of Music in his short-yet-larger-than-life time of 27 years on earth. Gone too Soon. But Never Forgotten.
That's a quote from Aldous Huxley not Jim. Jim did get the idea for the bands name from it tho.
"Whoever controls the media controls the mind" -Jim Morrison
@@clarenceworley3714 The quote be Huxley's but I have heard Jim say it himself in one of his interviews.
Hence I have put his words under quote. Never I have said he trademarked the quote. Read my post properly please.
@@cliffordzellner5917" The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. "
- The Lizard King ❤️☮️
"The Doors of Perception" - from author Aldous Huxley was the inspiration of the group's name
Jim Morrison was The Doors' lead singer and he was absolutely one of the greatest of Rock legends. I'm glad you guys found The Doors. It's been a pleasure listening with you.
Jim Morrison is the original.
The one a lot of rockers emulate.
Light my Fire!!
“Riders on the Storm” is an ICONIC track from the Doors that I know you guys would also love. Just ask Jamel (aka Jamal)!
Jim Morrison was a poet he had sever stage fright he would perform with his back to the crowd he is the lizard king
6:08 Morrison had a godlike singing voice and a natural speaking voice.
“This is the end” is one of my favorite Doors songs. Must listen…
Riders on the Storm really brings out Jim Morrison’s voice and the Doors musicality!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Their best song. So many great ones but Riders on the storm is perfect. As good as any song by any artist.
there are too many songs to suggest: a treasure trove. Jim Morrison is the only singer/artist whose grave I wanted to and did visit in Paris. (There is no longer a stone top/headstone, etc. as they are continually taken) - listen to as many as possible, you will love them all.
I did not know that. Wow. So sad. People are crazy. Must have been so cool to be there. Cheers!
@@leighwhite6700 It's actually fine, people hang out there, leave stuff, it's actually pretty awesome and it is one of the most visited places in Paris (that is crazy!) (you should do Maneskin)
You know, you two make me feel like I'm 300yrs old. It's great to see you enjoying music that has been in my DNA for decades but it's rough knowledge to be aware that you have much more life behind you than you could ever hope to have in front of you.…
A poet, blues pianist, flamenco guitars and jazz drummer . DOORS ARE LEGENDARY.
They did all of this with only three instruments (keyboard, guitar, and drums) plus the harmonica and, of course, Jim’s voice. This is part of what makes the band so amazing-that they could produce such a rich sound with three instruments. Basically, every song they recorded was genius.
and a Bass
@@carltroia6235 no bass... the keyboard plays the bass part
@@alfredodrago4167: a few songs have a guest player on an actual bass. But you’re right, for the most part, the keyboard actually covers the bass.
@@alfredodrago4167 they used bass guitars in the studio
@alfredodrago4167 there was a bass guitar on the studio recordings.
Finally found Jim Morrison a member of the 27 club you should listen to five to one by The doors that's a great song tomorrow is female Friday try Sinead O'Connor nothing compares to you there's a live version that'll blow you away if you want to hear scat listen to Edgar and Johnny Winters live version of tobacco road from 1970 Edgar is the king of scat in the Rock scene
Anyone who mentions "27 club" is stupid, did you know that?😂
@@Blisteryn Says you.... I might not call it a club but it's a damn shame the people died at 27.
@@Blisteryn what is a very intelligent reply
Love the fact that there is a smile on Amber's face within seconds of the music starting. Glad you both loved this, one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands.
Ray Manzarek is legendary on the keys.
Jim Morrison! Literally one of the greatest lead singers of all time.
"Riders on the storm" is one of my favourite Doors songs, a must listen.
Glad you dig The Doors! I'm an old woman and I still rock out. The bungalows for the people who like to go down slow!!!!
"Light My Fire" and "Break on Through" were their other major radio hits.
Where he sings "I woke up this morning and had my self a beer, the future is uncertain and the end is always near" I use a lot as one of my favorite quotes.
Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about guys! RIP Jim and Ray. Can not go wrong with the Doors, I mean come on, they had the Lizard King!! Thx Squad once again, you guys rock!!¡
crap Ray died, i guess before i was really that into the band but still feel like i missd that fact
You guys probably know this by now, but Jim Morrison is one the most iconic rock & roll singers of all time. His life was legendary...
It seems you just opened the book of history of music
Jim Morrison was a deep, yet troubled poet. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with his demons, but not before sharing some amazing music with the world. RIP Mr. Mojo Risin (an anagram by which he called himself).
A poet who rhymed "fire" with "fire"... But seriously, an amazing talent and a huge influence on so many great artists who came after.
Great movie also
The mixture of psychedelic and Blues made the Doors the best American band ever.
The Doors are: Jim Morrison - Vocals, Ray Manzarek - Keys, Robbie Kreiger - Guitar, John Densmore - Drums
"Peace Frog" really nails The Doors musical vibe.
Was hanging around Venice, Ca. at the time. Was grateful for the shout out despite it's message. Peace
Jim's voice res·o·nates; not echos, it fulls the room. No one sings like Jim Morrison, and his writing is beyond awesome.
The future's uncertain and the end is always near......let it ROLL, BABY ROLL....love this tune.
Love this song! The Doors definitely rocked on this!!
Never play this when driving. It recalibrates your sense of 'safe speed' to be about 20mph too high
I've never read a more accurate statement about this song.
True story!!
Nailed it! Only listen to when cruising out west with no traffic!
LA Woman too
can confirm
The lead singer was Jim Morrison. Another singer that died young. There is a great movie about The Doors where Jim is played by actor Val Kilmer who was nominated for best actor for the role and looked and acted so much like him that the members of the band said they could not tell that it wasnt Jim.
When I try to picture Jim Morrison, I actually picture Val Kilmer lol
This is not realistic movie. Manzarek said he don't like it. Wach live performances and read books. Not fictional movies.
Brilliant!
Jim Morrison. The true rock god. Poet. Shaman. Read up on him.
I always thought he was pretentious but a very talented singer.
The Lizard 🦎 King!!🤟
Lead singer is James Douglas “jim” Morrison who unfortunately is part of the legendary 27 club someone plays him in Wayne’s world where he is the spirit guide for Wayne you need to listen to riders on the storm and light my fire by the doors arguably the 2 most well known but most loved also 😁👌🏻
i cant see anyone else playing Jim other than Val Kilmer. Dude lived as Morrison for over a year before shooting the film.
Jeff Healey did a phenomenal cover of this song for the movie Roadhouse!!!
I agree
I'm 67...been listening to the doors since I was 14 or so...I remember 20 years or so ago I'd picked up our son and daughter and 1 of my son's friends. Had the doors playing. The kid asked if this was a new band ..my son said they are old like my dad!!! Timeless
This is *such* a BANGER! For Amber’s sake, listen to Touch Me by The Doors. It’s got the horns! They were my favorite band when I was in high school.
Crystal Ship is another one she would love.
@@33MarciS Have you heard Patti Smith’s cover of Gloria?

I think the term you’re looking for in Jim Morrison’s voice is “resonance.” It’s that smooth melodic almost vibrato quality his voice has, definitely recognizable. And I agree with other members that you must do Riders on the Storm and Light My Fire, both classics! Great review! ♥️
I’m so glad you have discovered and like the Doors! One of my favorite bands of all time!
Another good and underrated Doors song, and one of their songs that's had less radio play than their "hits", is "Been Down So Long" off the "L. A. Woman" album. Another really bluesy song.
Also, "The cars hiss by my window".
Really enjoyed this reaction. When Rob said “what is this lead singer’s name”, man, I laughed out loud. It is really hard to imagine what a delight it must be to suddenly discover Jim Morrison and The Doors, 50+ years later.
