GUNDAM. You screwed up and missed a key part of the scandal. They froze the refunds because they lost their business license in CA. Noah is in deep Legal trouble with the govt. By time of the refund notice, they had been operating illegally for over a week as they lost their license at the start of March. This business was always going to fail. The drama just made it center stage in time for the fall.

If they do NOT file bankruptcy, Noah has committed multiple counts of international fraud.
I think the issue is that the Franchise Tax Board status of the company has been Suspended/Forfeited since the end of last year and Forfeited since the 2nd of March, meaning that it hasn't legally been allowed to do business or transfer property, including money (e.g. issuing refunds) at all this year. The issue is that once a person (i.e. corporate or natural) has the status of bankrupt, the courts have a process of resolving it, and property cannot be transferred until allowed by the court.

The best ones here seems to be all the crew of Gamers Nexus, who gave more of a damn about Artesian Builds staff than Noah himself! Good grief. The business incompetence, and maliciousness even, were staggering to contemplate. May the now former assemblers and upper management of AB, find quick re-employ elsewhere.

Gamers Nexus is having a great year exposing problems in the computer industry. New Egg and Artesian Builds sure provided a lot of content and informed many amateur gamers/pc builders to be more careful.

@@osets2117 In short, they sent GN a motherboard. The motherboard was not used (or even opened) so it was returned for a refund. NE refused the refund claiming it was used by GN, never sent back the board or the money. Eventually, GN got the board back and it turns out that they bought a used board (the notification used to be large print, now they make it tiny) and it was not functional.
They found out the board had a sent to repair sticker on it. The board was never repaired and returned to New Egg where New Egg initially sold it to GN. So not only was it an "open box", it was used, damaged, unusable, inspected, and then resold as if it was working, which is before GN bought it. GN even called the inspection place and was told the board was inoperable but could be repaired for a fee, which NE refused to pay before they sold it.

There was concerns that Newegg had been denying refunds to TONS of customers, on the most shady of grounds. And selling used products as new, while they did it (or at least, pretending the open box products were high quality and new....despite clearly being garbage products.)
Well, they repeatedly denied refunds and called all their customers liars.....
Until one of their customers happened to be Steve from Gamer's Nexus. A man in the industry with over a million followers and subscribers, who has his hands in most big name gaming pc companies with reporting and reviews.
That's.....when Newegg's awful practices got exposed.
They sent him a motherboard, but he didn't need it by the time it arrived as they solved the issue in a different manner. So, without even OPENING THE SHIPPING BOX, Steve returned it for a refund.
And they stated that he was lying when he said he didn't open it, that they a) saw clear signs of damage on the motherboard, and b) saw thermal paste signifying that the product had indeed been installed in a pc at one time.
......this opened a massive gate into some crazy shady stuff that Newegg was doing.
Steve went through multiple customer support areas to try to get his refund, and each and every one of them blatantly called him a liar, stating he definitely used the motherboard, and damaged it.
Steve wasn't trying to get his refund at this point for the money, but just to see how deep the rabbit hole went.
He got the mother board back, and investigated it's UPC on the back to find out that it was indeed a used product that had been sent in for repair....Newegg refused to pay for repairs....and then just put the thing back on the shelf to sell as basically "new."
Which was what tons of other people had reported happening as well. That they purchased a product from Newegg. The item was clearly damaged or not up to par, and when they tried to return it....Newegg would claim it was the customer who was lying and clearly damaged it.
Or they'd find some other slimy way to deny you a refund.
One of my favorites was a customer who bought a product from them, and when it arrived....it was clearly not the correct product. He tried to return it, and they refused him a refund because they stated he didn't return the correct product XD literally ignoring his statement for reason of return, and claiming he was lying about not receiving the correct product haha XD
Like....what can the customer even do at that point?
This led to a whole series of crazy events that eventually led to Steve getting a interview with 5 of the top brass at Newegg.

The thing that irks me the most about this whole situation is the combination of his unprofessional attitude and his total business cluelessness. Such a mindset makes me wonder how he's lasted as long as he has.
You know he's going to get sued the shit out of. People know his name so he can't just disappear, and you can't really say "Yeah, you ordered products, but I'm going to not deliver them and not refund you because I freezed the bank accounts." If they go bankrupt, sure but you're technically a debtor. If there is anything after liquidating and paying off secured loans, you're suppose to get a cut.
Edit- Also wasn't he under investigation by the IRS for trying skip paying taxes or something, and one of the stipulations of that is he has to keep his business open and pay his employees? He can't just close everything down.
I understood that he couldn't move money around and sell product. He's technically violated both, but who knows if the tax man goes after him or not.
Their probably still preoccupied trying to find dirt on conservatives and Trump supporters, just in case he runs again.
I've had a boss like this. He was more dedicated to cultivating a cool-guy image than functionally running the business. Likely due to his reverence of Steve Jobs, he assumed a cult of personality could carry a business, alone.

I suspect Noah's schmoozing was partly out a of a desire to hang out with people he deemed cool, and partly to sponge off some big streamers by tricking them into investing in his company.
Yeah, if only he treated his normal customers like that, like a good business owner should, then he would've built up a good business. But he tried to shortcut his way to the top by catering to streamers while crapping on the little customers.

I think the parks department people in SF still kick the homeless off the beach every night under the pretext of safety. Few years back a couple of homeless kids got swept off the beach while sleeping and died; they managed to keep it somewhat on the DL but ever since then the authorities don't fuck around. Also the beach in SF is basically really fucking cold and foggy all the time except a week or two in September. The rest of the city is basically an outdoor toilet and homeless encampment combined with AirBNB's galore, dotted with the uber wealthy behind iron gates in ivory towers.

One thing i wondered. How did the company fold so quickly after the live stream? If the live steam was the defining moment they should have builds queued for weeks and enough cash to operate for the foreseeable future. It's like he took the cash and ran, or it was a ponzi scheme with customers.
My understanding (and I don’t remember what video because I’ve watched so many of them) is that they got $300k of chargebacks after this with people canceling their builds, which is why he stopped the refunds.
