Thanks to this awesome review. I managed eq my hidizs to your preferred target between 20hz and 7khz. Now, these babies sound perfect. You are the man. Thank you.
I love your objective style. Thanks! - Sometimes you are so analytical that I come away in doubt about whether you actually liked it? - so, did you? - and who would you think would like this the most?…
This is true, but here is a hint, the shorter the review, the less I like it. I also don't get caught up as much as to whether I like it, but does it execute well, does it do something different. In this case, MP145 has a very smooth and warm signature, immediately appealing to me as I love that style, but I also know some people look for more technical planars. For me personally, both MP145 and Meoldy are great sets as upgrades so cheaper 1DD sets. The signature isn't far from a set like Cadenza, but planar tech. It is a great combo. If you are looking for a more technical, less smooth, less warm planar, that is S12 Pro or Timeless AE style. There is no good or bad, just know which appeals to you.
As I said, got to understand what your tips and source are doing as if they emphasize the bass, that isn't where you want to be. Look up Michael Bruce's mod too, removing the foam will open it up.
Eh, I think a lot of people have this one, just slacking off on the reviews. For me, I like planars, I like this signature so its easy to spend too much time with it.
Great review Paul . Thank you. quick question (albeit not apples to apples here). Your pick between the Hidizs MP 145 & the Simgot EM6L. Thanks once again.
I am a planar fanboy. There aren't many sets, 1DD or hybrids, that I take over planars. That being said, I'd keep my EA500 and the MP145. I think MP145 does most of what EM6L can do but I still like a very nice 1DD.
SIMGOT house sound is upper mid heavy, this is bass heavy. They don't share much in common. Like saying how does Heartmirror compare to BL03. The tuning is targeting two different people. Can you EQ MP145 to be closer to EM6L, probably and it would sound great.
Hidizs seems to be very confident with the MP145 judging by the amount of demo units that were handed over to a crap ton of reviewers. Hopefully the Kickstarter isn't a train wreck or Hidizs decides to stealth revise the MP145 after the Kickstartwr campaign ends.
Not only the number of reviewers but the aggressive marketing is off-putting. I doubt they are stealth revising it, unless they make the shell smaller. It is still a planar and when more pop up on squig, it won't be surprising to see variation as you see in other planar sets. They are using a similar driver to other sets.
I have been considering this for some time, your video is helpful. I think I will give it a miss, I want my planars to sound like planars. Why would you suggest for someone who loves the kz Pr2 but just wants more bass?
@@PaulWasabii Ya but on my dap eq only works up to 24-96 max, also using the MSEB settings in my Hiby.. and not at all for dsd, so I am stuck with mostly 16-44..some of it is very good, but a lot of it is not. Where it is doable, I have achieved a very classy sound, you would be impressed.. very mature tuning. MSEB isn't exactly eq, involves filters and parametric type eq stuff, works very well. The normal eq on my Hiby is not so good.. I don't miss it... MSEB is better, changes the character of the amp as well.. I want something that will kick for my Dsd library.. I am buying the zsn pro 2 to see about BA sound, if I like it, maybe the AS24..I am very interested in your opinions.
How does the OG HBB PR2 v1 compare? (the one with the rectangular filter over entire planar driver as designed, implemented with HBB SS and tuning approval, before KZ effed it up).
I have a PR2 with no mesh and its closer than my original. Both are still more aligned to S12/Timeless, a heavy treble emphasis. MP145 is relaxed treble, as I said, sounds more like a DD but still technically better than most DD since it is a planar. It is the right balance of a set that anyone can pick up and still hear that planar detail. S12 and Timeless are great, but not for everyone.
Still waiting for a decent upgrade to Timeless AE. Yes the Timeless has an annoying peak at 8 kHz and dip at 10k, but I can EQ that to extent so it's not fatiguing. And I get that tuning a planar is difficult, but I find no one has yet found the same magic formula. The Tangzu Heyday gets close, but it's missing that robust sub-bass I like to hear in my fancy electronic music library.
Yes, you are 100% there. And the issue is there isn't really a new driver so most brands are in a holding pattern. They could retune Timeless to address those issues but I don't think they want that, they are waiting for the new thing.
@@kr33k00 I made reservation for Timeless 2 at Linsoul over 2 months ago, but I'm still waiting. As far as I know, the final production variant is not out yet.
I never heard the original but that was the set in my mind that would be the closest to MP145. If I had Wu, I'd pass on MP145. Also I bet the shells on Wu are smaller.
Yes, tomorrow hopefully. Ironically they went for the same idea, a more relaxed planar but MP145 did it better. Big shell, but the warm sound nailed the idea behind Klanar.
MP145 or Shozy P20 or S12 Pro. The problem is none of them are perfect. Tuning planars is tricky. We have good enough at the moment, but no clear winner or best. S12Pro for techs, the others for more relaxed tuning.
Is that paper filter inside the nozzle ? If so. Perfect . Because I can add a sponge filter inside and remove the paper filter out from nozzle. I do that with so many iems and I get the right tuning and thick low end as I like for blasting volumes
You would have a couple choices, the silver removable nozzle is naked so you can add a filter or filter and foam. Otherwise a larger foam in the nozzle. Yes, two of the nozzles have filters on the back.
This has come up a few times. The early bird price is good, but I think the regular retail price will be closer than the price they have listed. There is also 11-11 sale coming which will no doubt have a discounted price. I think waiting is fine, there should be a few opportunities for finding a discount
How is it compared to quintet in terms of detail and soundstage? I like to listen to metal song, but also need good details retrieval for gaming which one better for that. Thanks
The signatures are different with Quintet pushing a bit more detail, and possibly fatigue. Off the top of my head, MP145 has detail, but it would be harder to hear as the tuning leans warmer, it just doesn't force detail forward. That doesn't mean its not there, MP145 is actually very good in music and subtle detail, but Quintet would probably be better on gaming.
So the non-obvious answer is they are the same, the difference is tuning. Heyday is more revealing in the mids so the the obvious answer is Heyday. If you want good techs with a lot of bass, that is MP145. Its easier to lower the bass and have better apparent technicalities, but doing it with enough or more than enough bass is something that people who like bass will appreciate. MP145 is tuned to have a good time, Heyday is a bit more serious.
The answer is no. The actual reason is there has not been a driver developed that beats the S12 driver. When that happens, you will see more planar sets. Tuning helps but brands are waiting for a magic driver that advances sound quality.
Its king if you are looking for that warm style but not everyone likes that. Especially in planar, people like to hear maximum details and its not tuned like that. Plus Kiwi Ears and 7Hz are about to release their planars so we will see how it holds up.
I have these. I have big ears. And these need a shoe horn to get into my ears. Love the sound but goddamn, why they got to make something so freaking large
I never heard AE but I'd guess based on Timeless, MP145 is still warmer and more relaxed in the treble. It doesn't push detail like Timeless, more of a warmer, smoother set.

MP145 is forgiving, feel free to continue poking at the EQ. Planars are capable, just a matter of tweaking to reveal more.

you said it all in the last 2 mins. I love my Hidizs MP 145!
I still can't explain how they did it after hearing the MS5. Maybe new team or product manager.

The MP143 is about to be released, no idea who it compares to the MP145. I hope they made the shell smaller, easier to fit in more ears.
I ordered these yesterday. I hope the detail retrieval is better than ba + dd iems. I hope the bassy tuning didn't ruin the rest of the sound.
