    I think a lot of people have been waiting on this one. You are very blessed to have already laid your hands on them. I will say though, I'm unsure about the bass being decreased and the recess of the mids to focus on more laid back presentation. But what I'm most curious about is how quickly the Blessing 3 has just been replaced and pushed to the side after all the glowing remarks you made about it ...even against your Softears.

    how does this compare to the dunu sa6 mk2 and monarch mk2? i want to upgrade from my p5's but am not sure which to get

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t own the Monarch, but I do own and love the SA6 Ultra and MK2. Don’t get me wrong, I think the MK2 is a fantastic set, but at the price point of $379, the Performer8 is the better buy in my opinion. You’re going to get a little more bass with the MK2, but the technical performance of the Performer8 looks to be stellar and is $200 less. You’re basically paying for a marginal improvement; in fact, I’d go so far as to say that, given the P8 is more neutral, I’d spend that extra $200 on the P5 so you’ve got two IEMs, one that’s more V shaped, and one that’s more neutral. That’s what this feels like to me, the P5 and P8 can coexist in a collection, rather than the P8 making the P5 immediately obsolete.

    • @havenloss8107
      @havenloss8107 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@havenloss8107 It depends on how you approach the hobby; if you're looking for great sound and the goal is to ultimately find the best all-around IEM to listen to your entire library, the MK2 really does fit the bill at that sub-$1000 price point. At that price, it's hard to beat. I would confidently say it does everything very competently.
      I'm the kind of hobbyist that will swap out a pair of IEMs depending on the specific track, genre, or even whether or not there's a male or female vocalist. That's not to say that's a better approach; I almost wish I could be happy with a single set, but there are tracks where I'll forego the MK2 for something like the PR2 (a much cheaper planar set that, in almost every way, is a less capable IEM), simply because I like the performance of the PR2 in a specific song.
      I'm also a audio engineer and musician, so I like having multiple sets when I'm checking mixes, playing through my rig, etc. I work mainly on HD600s, and then I'll check mixes in 4-5 IEMs and over-ears. I find IEMs to be very good at highlighting treble issues, especially.
      tl;dr: you know if you're the type of person that's content with a single set. If you are, the MK2 is a good bridge between mid-tier and endgame. If you're the kind of person that has your tips organized in one of those compartmentalized craft cases, you might NEED the P8 in your life, lol.

    Gotten the Aful 5, 2nd hand dirt cheap. Base on your recommendation fairly recently and this video solidify their company. Came from an under 80 bucks IEM KZ brand, the Aful P5 I’ve gotten, made me re-listen ALL the TH-cam songs and music that goes way back.
    A good IEM isn’t all about technical specs, but if it gives that kind of impact, then the specs will be easier to hunt or look out for . when I jumped from 80 to this 200 [ as its 2nd hand, almost half in price ],
    I now can safely say, just getting IEMs around the standard Aful P5 retail price range should be the the golden standard for music enjoyment.
    Not only Aful obviously, but most of what 200 price bracket IEMs that are recommended, from here and other channels, DO in fact bring up and out the music you use to think its meh, but the details [ hence technical ] are required to have a good IEM AND ĐẶC to drive, using the questyle m15, absolutely heavenly

    Very nice review! Unfortunately I can't decide between the Performer 5 and the Hidizs MP145. • @aaronfriedman8201
    @aaronfriedman8201 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I love your reviews. I have Performer 8 and Blessing 3 here. My take is slightly different. The performer 8 has slopy bass. The Blessing 3 is very tight and controlled. There is a technical reason for this. I have Kef subwoofer in my home theatre that has opposing drivers in the enclosure to reduce standing waves, coloration and rumble, as it cancels most of these effects out. The Blessing 3 uses the same Technic. Hence, the bass is more controlled and tighter. So far, I prefer Blessing 3. I cannot stand slopy bass getting into everything. From a technical perspective it would make sense that Studio 4 using BA will not run into this issue either. So, we need to distinguish warmth from slopy bass.

    As someone that primarily listens to metal and rock with some classical sprinkled in, would I be better off getting P8 or B3? I find that warm sound signatures don't really work as well with my library and want something that will fit well but still kind of function as an all-rounder of sorts.

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have the same taste in genre, and I believe the P8 may be exactly what you’re looking for. The Blessing 3 is a great set, don’t get me wrong, but there are tracks where it feels anemic and missing something. It feels a little too neutral to my ear. The P5 does so well with my library it’s been one of my daily drivers, despite having IEMs twice (or even many times more) the price. The P8 looks to be a clear upgrade, and in many ways the slight reduction in bass feels like a win, as it gives rock and metal more room to breathe. A lot of the bands I’m listening to are in Drop C, B, A#, with 5-6 string basses, and the P5 already handles those so well for the price; the P8 looks to fix one of my only complaints with the P5.

I would like an IEM that takes everything I enjoy about them and takes it to the next level. I have been interested in the Dunu SA6 but it is out of my budget at this time. I love the vocals on the Kato but would like to see improvement in details, instrument separation and bass quality. Which one would be a better option for me? • @Audio-In-Reviews
      @Audio-In-Reviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't own the Kato anymore so I can't do a side by side but I'm very familiar with its sound. Both, the Performer 8 and Blessing 3 have different tuning styles from the Kato so they will not present vocals in the same way. That being said, of the two, the Blessing 3 has more tuning similarities to the Kato than the Performer 8. In terms of technical performance, both will also give you improved technical performance over the Kato. The Kato has more mid bass warmth than the Performer 8 and Blessing 3 so they may come across as sounding thinner. In terms of vocal presentation, the Kato's vocals will sound more forward than the Performer 8 but slightly less forward than the Blessing 3. But again, of the two, the Blessing 3's will get you the closest. I'm assuming since you're considering the Performer 8 your max budget is just under $400? Could you afford $450? If so, would you consider the Studio 4?

      Ehm everybody says that blessing 3 has an upper mids forward kind of tuning... the whole moondrop vsdf tuning is based around that.... and that the performer 8 has better tuning / balanced tuning that is subjective, he prefaced that statement with : 'in my opinion'. Regarding the technicalities, might be, I read reviews and impressions on head-fi that say that while clarity is a half step up from the blessing 3 soundstage size is about equal to performer 5. While others says it is wider than performer 5. Not saying that the blessing 3 is the best, just saying that at iems at that price point are so close to each other that ear canal differences and even ear tips used between reviewers and music taste add more to the review results than objective measurements. There is no clear better or worst like when comparing a 20$ IEM with a 300$ iem.

      I too am a metal fan but I am poor. I have the Seeaudio Yume and love it to death and to me it only needs technical improvements, nothing else. I've heard from my favorite reviewer the Tea 2 sounds similar to the Yume, and I care about having a realistic sound, so no basshead or V-shaped bullshit, and I don't really like recessed or veiled treble, which is something that scares me from buying the Tea 2. I also listen to popular music from the 70s and 80s, lots of natural instruments including bass guitar and drums that go "pow". Not sure if it helps but I have tried the 4U Pro and feel it could be more expressive for the sake of distorted guitars, but the cymbals were handled pretty damn nicely. Sort of has a very "normal" vibe that gets confused when interpreting busier tracks, i expected greater versatility for a $240 stage monitor. Mids are also kind of boring on that set, but the Yume is at least closer to agreeing with my library.

    Not a set for 70s Rock, Electro, Hip Hop, Reggae/Roots/Ska/Dub/Dancehall, Techno, House, Trip Hop or Breakbeat. Anaemic of low frequencies and mid-bass slam, resolution, acoustic mass and detail. The Xenns Mangird Top is significantly better for the aforementioned genres and sonic characteristics.

    Turn down the music volume....

      Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the video! I've been experimenting with the music levels trying to reach appropriate levels for different listening scenarios. (headphones, iems, home audio and desktop systems) I noticed that the music levels on my older videos sound good with headphones and iems but on my main home audio and desktop system it was a little quiet so bumped it up a little. Also experimenting with ducking to see if that helps. Again, I sincerely appreciate the feedback but going to give it some time and see if I get more feedback from others in the community.

      @@Audio-In-Reviewsi think the music was fairly well volume except for the last track during the studio 4 vs p8 comparison, that specific track just had too much stuff going in it so it meddled with the recording imo. Rest, i don't really feel as if the music interferes with the recording.
