The Ningen Isu guys are highly educated; Suzuki & Wajima sometimes write lyrics in Meiji-era and earlier Japanese (which sounds slightly 'alien' to native speakers) to 'challenge' the modern-Japan listeners. Both songwriters also have a background in teaching. This song's lyrics are quite touching, actually - the narrator has a change of heart - he's asking selfishly in the first 3/4 of the song, then realizes that all people "have thousands of wishes in their hearts", and ultimately asks for the happiness of all things at the end.

Ningen Isu, yep, very Sabbath-like. They've been around since the mid 80s and have recorded over 20 full-length albums.

Last month or so, the lead guitarist had a fun jam with Marty Friedman on the youtube show Rock Fujiyama. It was awesome seeing them play made-up songs on the spot! Also, you'll be able to find videos of Ningen Isu from the 90s when they were still younger. The bald bassist monk still had hair, the lead guitarist had 70s long hippie hair, and only the yakuza drummer guy looked nearly the same lol! Their song Toshishun is also fun!

Ningen Isu (hard G) Guitarist and Bassplayer is born 1965 (A year younger then me *-) ) They have played for appr 35 Years now. They have a huuge calatalogue during all these years.... it's cool that they incorperated the Scat-singing. This song is a prayer for success. Think this video got viral 2019 and that made them go overseas for their first time and they did 3 gigs in Europe, heading to USA but then Covid came along...

@@DerSkalde Fortunately this song is on Fancam and I took some Photos, so there is a beautiful memory. Unfortunately the Zeche was not sold out, but I loved to be there, because I saw BAND-MAID the year before.

1:48 - You're right, the bassist is dressed as a monk and, I'm pretty sure, the black mouth signifies he is mute too. The drummer is dressed as a 1960's Yakuza member and the guitarist as an early 20th century schoolteacher. I don't know why!

Thank you, that was really refreshing since the younger generation groups had the priority so far. I truly enjoyed it. Thank you David and Jeremy ☮☮

They were Heavy Metal Band veteran in Japan(Japanese Black Sabbath)

Please check out more Ningen Isu. They have a variety of rhythms and approaches. They are fond of H.P. Lovecraft, and have a few songs based on his stories.
I think you would also enjoy Wagakki Band. You can call them Folk-Metal, but the are very eclectic, mixing traditional and modern instruments.

Ningen = human. Isu = chair.
Ningen Isu is in costume. A Yakuza (gangster), traditional Japanese and a Buddhist monk.

@@musikbyjh I'm falling in love with Japanese culture. I love America too but I've seen it. I'm old. Japan is something I haven't seen.

This is unexpected for me because I didn’t think of metal music in Japan. I’m not a fan, but I didn’t mind listening. They actually played more than they shred. So there was a lot of musicality that I could enjoy. I hope you find that gray robe. Great reaction!

@@cynthiamiller483 there is a ton of great metal in Japan imo. But metal is not popular there. Rock is very popular in Japan. The last country on Earth with rock songs on the pop charts.

If you want to hear the bassist sing, try their live performance of
    Hell's Mountain Of Needles.
It's a cover of Budgie 's Breadfan with different lyrics.

I don't think so. I think Shinji is wearing a Haori over a Kimono. A Yukata (lit. bathrobe) is a simple cotton Kimono worn in summer.
