cant even imagine how amazing it would be to see one of these animals close up like that
Remember seeing this when it was first shown... must be about 15 years ago. Amazing - had a big impact. 13 years later I got in a cage and met some face-to-face... most amazing creatures on the planet.
What a beautiful creature..
Standing up and leaning over the side is brilliance at it's finest. I suggest a handstand on the motor.
wildlife films are never boring!!
david's voice is like hot, melting butter for my ears!
"She's about to hit us."
So they stand up?
@BroDog sure you can! You didn’t specify by who though, so here’s your reply 😁
probably the best Great White Doc i've seen to date.
Sharks are the king of the ocean
"I'm on a boat" never felt like such a bad idea.
ive always really struggled with how big these sharks are. I guess you cant really imagine until you see one up close. I will never be in that position though lol.
I reckon that's the first time ive ever noticed how they flex their back fin to steer
Just found this, I had this on tape as a kid and must've watched it a hundred times. Does anyone have a full copy?
those things scare the hell out of me, after the last wildlife on one i didnt go in the sea for ages, but i still find them beautiful and fasinating
DAM NATURE YOU SCARY
SIMPLY PUT AWSOME ... THIS IS AN ANIMAL THAT WE HAVE NO REAL RESEARCH HENCE FEAR.. AND ILLOGICAL REMARKS FOR THOSE WHO PERSUE THE RESEARCH...GREAT JOB PEOPLE
She's going to hit us, I can't see her, oh I know, I'll stand up.
Jay Thomas yeah I know right I actually said the same thing I would sit down cause he will be fish food
awesome footage
Beautiful creatures
Greetings from Dar es Salaam,Tanzania 🇹🇿
Mudi Mabiriani Alikuwa Hapa 😎
some big great whites in this footage!! :D
Susan Casey wrote a great book about the great white sharks of the Farallon Islands.
That some of the best footage multiples great whites feeding
we're gonna need a bigger handle bar mustache peter.
at 0:40 it looked so like a horror movie with the silence, and then you exspect the shark to come up and grab him and pull that guy under.
lovely music!
There's no naturalist broadcaster who's remotely close to the caliber of Sir David Attenborough.
if im looking for a shark, im gonna have a big ass boat..these people clearly havent watched JAWS
Just impressive...
lol jaws reference
great film :P
THAT BOAT IS TINY!!!!!
Balls of steel!!!
cute!
Fastest human swimmer: 4 mph
Great white cruising speed: 25-30 mph
I think the line
"We're gonna need a bigger boat..." is needed in this vid somewhere
Wow that is a tiny boat!
Yeah I know, I think the actual model in jaws though was bigger than 25 feet ! The bit where it leaps onto the boat and eats quint it looks enormous !
Where's the melody of "Jaws" when you need them? :-)
They must haven’t watched jaws on that tiny boat
awesome animals
very brave
Big fish, small boat...hey next lets go to Africa and study Lions on unicycles!!!!...hahahaha
BBC Earth Do you have the Link to the Full Documentary on this.
my god those guys are brave!
They must be crazy...look at that tiny boat!
Who is the brave camera-man in this film? Is it a machine or a human?
dunnna dunnna duna duna duna duna dunnaaaaa ... duna dun! (my attempt at the jaws theme!)
sharks are beautiful but there is no way you would get me in that boat.we would merely look like a silver platter to them
I've been out to the farallon islands 3 times before and have never had a chance to see any of the great white sharks around there either surfacing nor feeding on the elephants seals residing there !
well played mauer
You Know to be honest with you I’ve actually been out to the Farallon Islands Three Times To Be Exact in my Life Beginning In 2004, 2008, and Then for the very last time in 2013 and where in which I’ve actually never come across nor have ever noticed a Fully Grown Great White Shark Out there Before although I’ve come to find each and every one of these Journeys Both Exciting And Amazing In Up Close And Personal Detail But all To Incredibly Mysterious And ChillBinding all of the same and where and while due to the very fact that the Farallon’s are all to very Mysterious in both Formation And Up close viewing and also to note that just the very feeling of Great White Sharks inhabiting the Surrounding Areas just gives me the feeling of being viewed up close and personal with them at best !
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Man that shark is bigger than the boat
The two big whites were 18 feet and round the 4500 lb mark or bigger
the music at 3.23 - are you effing kidding me???
i would have screamed in that boat, lay on the ground and smply panic... SICK people... And that guy stands in the boat, it looks like a really corny horror movie, but when u realize that those gus do it for real - SICK
okayy..look at the size of the boat & the size of the shark...who wins?! haha
"Whether from aggression, hunger or curiosity, nobody knows"... i thought this was known for ages, everyone knows sharks have no hands (duh) to touch things with and so use their mouth to muzzle objects they want to investigate. hence the bites aren't hard, theres no damage, no shaking etc. i would love to be on that boat!
these two men are GODS! anyone interested in this should read "The Devil's Teeth" by Susan Casey. RESPECT!!
dammnn thats a big fish
@TorvillDean84 Great whites only attack if starving or by accident. We aren't fatty enough for their metabolism C:
Nice comment
@gogoutube
There's another video where one researcher does fall into the water, fortunately the shark left the immediate area, and they fished him out quickly. Just because you're a scientist, doesn't mean you are the sharpest tool in the shed. I use sarcasm, but I don't get these guys.
How do they stay a float with such big balls?
i would definitely faint if i was on that dingy
''Your gonna need a bigger boat......''
"I think we're gonna need a bigger boat"
cute fish
Whatever happened to the one version that aired in the US?
Does it not exist anymore?
Right? I remember this one. I wish the year and exact title were listed. What I remember most is how good the music was.
wooooooooo! i love sharks wooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Get yourself a copy of the book 'Devil's Teeth' by Susan Casey. Its all about these two guys and the character of each of the sharks here at The Farallon Islands. A great read and yes they are risk takers. Get for about 29p on amazon.
boat is way to tiny hahaha
We're gunna need a bigger boat.
The record is like 25 feet or something ! check it out on Wiki :)
I would be bricking it in that little boat, what an adrenaline rush!!
could these guys have possibly got a smaller boat.!!
Yh and in that scene it also looks crap. u can see part of the thing that pushes it up out of the water on its fin.
Damn that's Jaws
wow!! how big is that shark?!!
@zhankibaika Yeah especially in that small ass boat haha
we're gonna need a bigger boat...
Sharks have good vision but they don't know there are people on the boat. They just see something in their environment and they're curious about it, bumping it and trying to bite it.
Wrong, you're more likely to become trapped under the boat when you're sitting down and it capsises. Standing up you can jump out and away
It looks dangerous feeding the sharks in that small boat. :O
I would not be in that little boat
Great footage though
i love sharks but at the same time they scare the hell out of me
Thats Jaws size.
haha @ RoadWarrior, good one :D
go on mate, dive in and have a swim
What a videos people should like it even more.
Nice tits m8
Sharks bite everything because they dont have hands, thats the only way they can test things.
We're gonna need a bigger boat.
I Remember this Same Exact Documentary On Great White Sharks At the Farallones From Way Back In My High School Years And Where Those Biologists Peter Pile And Scott Anderson Are Researching And Looking At The Identity Of Stumpy one of the Biggest Female Great White Sharks Ever To Roam Those Entire Waters Around the Farallon Islands whose easy to Identify by the Stump like Image Of Her Dorsal Fin !!!!!!
😉😉😉😉😉🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
Does anyone think there is a Great White of over 20 feet out there somewhere? I so desperately want to believe there is!
I'd rather have more room to manouver and then have the ability to get on top of the boat not to mention you could get knocked un-conscious by the boat too
@SilverGoldfish555 i went cage diving in south africa and it was incredible! im like you i love these sharks and think they are incredible and cage diving is the best encounter you will have :)
Nice comment
why would they use such a small boat that shark could have flipped that boat with no problem.
@zhankibaika i agree they are frightening, but I would love to go cage diving with them, so you're behind bars and they can't get at you but you can still see them up close
Just how big are these sharks? 14ft?
18
Sharks bump objects to see if it’s food
I think they need a bigger boat!!!
I'm in agreement with several others here. They're gonna need a bigger boat ...
