  • This is a collection of my favorite moments I captured in 2020 with my drone. If you are a subscriber, you might have seen some of this already, but I've included a few clips I've not shared before.
    All along the Southern California coast, juvenile white sharks have been seen in greater numbers. These sharks range in length from 4 feet to 10 feet along the shore. I will continue to monitor their numbers in 2021 and welcome you along the journey.
    Per your requests. I may be releasing both narrated and non-narrated versions of shark footage.

    When I used to swim in the ocean, I’d think about sharks and thought it was rare that one might be around….but as an adult, I lived in a beach town, and talked to a lot of pro fishermen and surfers, who told me that without a doubt, the sharks are there, right off the beaches, all the time. Lots of them.

      That's why I don't enjoy swimming in the ocean beach anymore.

    • @geslinam9703
      @geslinam9703 2 ปีที่แล้ว +119

      Your chances of being attacked are extremely low. Considering that they are there in the water with us, you would think that there would be dozens of attacks a day, not just the maybe 3 a year in the USA. I think their danger to humans is over exaggerated. Sad to think that just a few decades ago, they were being killed just because of the fear people had. And even today, for sport and shark fin soup….millions are slaughtered every year, some to the point of being endangered. I don’t have any particular love for sharks, I definitely have a fear of them, but I don’t think we have the right to kill them. when they do bite people, it’s usually because they have mistaken us for their normal prey, and then they swim off. Unfortunately, sometimes those who get bit, even one bite, can bleed to death. So, I stay out of the ocean these days…I love the sea, but I’m happy enough to admire it from land or on the deck of a boat….I just feel sad about the sharks being killed, when they just minding their business and trying to survive.

    Scuba diving with my family has taught me that sharks are much less aggressive and scary than how we like to show them in media. They are impressive and strong, yes, but every time I've been in the water with a shark or multiple sharks has been a peaceful interaction. Key to interacting with nature is to be respectful and don't act like food.

    I live on Cape Cod, and have always lived on the beach within 10 miles of the cape. Sharks show up in the summer in huge numbers and are largely uneventful. After a few news reports, and a very few sad or close encounters, there have actually been people who then approach sharks when they're reportedly in the area, in their kayaks now. And then they end up on the news because the shark bites their kayak. It's engaging how people react. I understand wanting to see them up close but if something bad happens, the shark will then be blamed, instead of someone's bad decision making. I love the whales and sharks, and I feel so blessed to be so close to them. I've worked for 2 companies that provide whale watches and deep sea fishing trips. And I've seen so many people who grew up in Kansas or Oklahoma, somewhere inland, who come and have never seen the ocean before. And I've seen people cry. It's incredible. The ocean holds so much awesomeness.

Because of our higher vantage point, we saw large tiger sharks swimming below them, but the body surfers didn't see them. We tried to call out that there were sharks, but the distance and waves made it so they couldn't hear us. We watched for about half an hour, and though the sharks showed a lot of curiosity, it appeared like they were just enjoying the waves as well and never became aggressive.

      He’s right sharks are intelligent creatures while they will sometimes bite out of curiosity it’s usually when they’re a surfer that looks like a seal they will usually not bite a lone swimmer out of pure curiosity but if they look like they’re sizing you up just like most animals in nature you act big as you slowly retreat sometimes going at the shark to prove you aren’t prey, sharks aren’t killers they never have been unless you go to The coast of South Africa the sharks down there are insanely big and will eat anything

      Have you gone cage diving with white sharks? I went to Guadalupe Island in 2019 to cage dive with these magnificent animals because I wanted to see them up close and personal but in their own environment. They are truly amazing, no black doll eye's, beautiful blue around their iris. Being eye to eye, watching them as they look at me was incredible. They were very graceful, came up to the cage and looked and continued swimming away.
      White sharks are very misunderstood, Jaws made them look like the monsters of the ocean. I love white sharks, was supposed to go see them in 2020, but Guadalupe Island was closed to tourists.
