I have my three kids and boys accustomed to putting the toilet seat DOWN ALWAYS. I HATE seeing a bathroom with a toilet seat exposing the water!! I don’t know why people must leave toilets exposed like that. I’ve always felt bathrooms look cleaner and NEATER with the toilets tops DOWN. So… I trained my kids to always put the lid down and this is what they always do when they go to other people’s homes… they leave the lid down, and so do I. It’s cleaner and neater.
Another right on time video,God bless you and yours Dr M. I soak my bristles in glass with Listerine for 15 minutes then air dry, for the toilet I pour hydrogen peroxide into water tank to avoid germs. Now been doing this most my life.
I keep my brush soaking in a glass of hydrogen peroxide all day and store it the medicine cabinet away from any contaminants. It prevented gum disease for decades.
I brush my teeth at the kitchen sink and keep my toothbrush in the cupboard, after cleaning and drying it, then wrapping it with a small square of paper toweling. I'm going to start soaking it in the hydrogen peroxide solution that was mentioned. Thank you!!!
Wow thanks for this information I will store my toothbrush and my family toothbrush correctly now thanks again and God bless u and ur family u are a amazing doc
Thank you sir for this valuable video, i'm glad i got it right on this~ Yes!! i always clean my toothbrush with very hot water before and after each use nd i don't flush my WC while it's open... Thank you sir nd God bless🙏🏽!!!
And a doctor told me, as soon as you buy and use a new toothbrush, take it out of the package and soak it in a cup of hydrogen peroxide for a few hours. Just covering the brush head part. Before you use it. He said that a brand new toothbrush has alot of germs in it, from being in the package so long I believe. I also soak it in peroxide once a week to keep it clean and less germs.
Maybe it's a bit too much but I take my toothbrush and cup back to my room. We have a bathroom where the toilet is in the same room as the tub, etc. My family laughs at me but I'm sticking with my idea.
This sounds logical but bordering on germaphobia and I'm just not sweating the small stuff. I'm 68 yrs old, shared a bathroom sink with 5 sisters, then a husband, and never gave much thought to all these details and have never had any dental or gum problems. I have all my teeth and I'm going with maintaining my immune system, consuming plenty of antimicrobials every day and keeping my toothbrush loose in my medicine cabinet.
Small things add up to big changes over time. Is this a make or break for your health, probably not, but any little thing to preserve our health no matter how small is beneficial. And anything that can deteriorate our health no matter how small is detrimental.
Don't rinse toothbrush in hot water if you don't want the bristles to harden. Keep some little Dixie cups handy & pour about a Tbsp of mouthwash in and dip toothbrush. Or use a little hydrogen peroxide + water in the cup.
I always put antiseptic mouthwash in my mouth and swish it around my toothbrush before I brush with that toothbrush, for the simple reason that if your body does not have to use up energy fighting those germs, it will likely give that energy to your brain
TL;DR: - Store your toothbrush out in the air, avoid things that might spread germs, like places where you wash your face or hands, the toilet, near other toothbrushes, inside a cover or cupboard, inside a dark place - Clean your toothbrush every time you brush your teeth, 3 ways to do that is 1) rinsing it with hot water, for 30 seconds to a minute, 2) one teaspoon hydrogen peroxide + a cup of water and stir it up, 3) antibacterial mouthwash - Change your toothbrush every 3 months or every quarter of a year, you can mark your calendar and automatically do it - If you place your toothbrush in a bathroom, close the lid before flushing when you're using the toilet, and place your toothbrush far from the toilet
Question: So where do you keep your toothbrush Dr? I'm confused because if its left to Air-dry then it can get airborne germs, but If in a cabinet (in a dark place) it would build alot of germs... 🤷♀️
They moved toilets into bathrooms to save on costs. Toilets had a room of its own. I still believe it's unhygienic to have a toilet pan right next to the wash basin let alone located in the bathroom.
When flushing lift the lid, reach over with the shower hose and waiving it over the bowl as you flush, zap all those airborne bugs right back down the bowl!
My toothbrush and my own separate toothpaste are in a stand in my bedroom. I just can't stand it being in the very same room where others are flushing the toilet and splashing dirty water all over the bathroom sink.
When you go to the bathroom, if you can smell poop, it's in the air. If it's in the air it lands on your toothbrush. The toothbrush actually should be stored in an adjacent room. 🤪🤪🤪
I wish everyone would see how true and vital this content is for us. Working in healthcare has forced to stop dismissing such advice as marginal.

I have been nuts about keeping tooth brushes separate from others. I always encourage everyone to have their own toothpaste as well. ☺
Be careful everyone ..... there is a spammer using the doctor's image that had replied on my comment. I did report this. Take care.
YOU ARE TRUELY A BEAUTIFUL SOUL WHO HAS A HEART OF GOLD 💛💛💛
I been closing the lid to my toilet seat for years, so much better for the air!
Good advice Dr Mandell, thank you. It's a rule in our house to close the toilet lid before flushing and to keep it closed.
Thank you!!
People will act like I'm crazy when I do that 🙄
Me too 😊

Yeah fr. . .it's like everything we do is somehow bad for us 😅😅
Air dry away from the toilet. Once it’s dry, you can cover it or put it away. Bottom line - keep it away from the toilet.
Dr Mandall You Are A WOW!
Thank God For You & All You Do To Help People...😁

I put it in listerine and then rinse it before using

One of my biggest pet peeves in a home dwelling setting is people that flush the toilet without closing the lid. Disgusting.
I use a UV light to disinfect my brush👍🏻
Great informative video, thanks Doc.
Toothbrushes need to be clean at all times.
I also put a little Dixie cup over my toothbrush to protect it and it dries out well
Manual toothbrush but electric flossing -another important tip.
Love this information!!
Dear Doctor please make videos on GBS syndrome and it's treatment.

Thank you for your useful information. Protect your toothbrush.

I always keep my toothbrush in my bed room, even my towel.
Same here 🙂
Thanks for the great tips! You can change it every time a new season start! :)
I've also never seen anywhere that states toothpaste kills bacteria....
Great info! Thanks
Thank u Doc
Yikes, I rinse and put back in a drawer. I guess I better stop that !
So should I swish my toothbrush in my mouthwash just before I use the mouthwash to gargle? Would that do the trick?
Thanks for the tip
I spray peroxide on my bamboo toothbrush after cleaning it.
Wet the brush, add a little hydrogen peroxide, toothpaste, then sprinkle on baking soda. Bye bye bacteria! Hello great smile!
BRAVO!
thank you
Can we just keep it in one of those plastic tube containers in the bathroom?
Interesting
I take my tooth brush and soak in hydrogen peroxide and use my 2nd tooth brush.
When flushing lift the lid, reach over with the shower hose and waiving it over the bowl as you flush, zap all those airborne bugs right back down the bowl!
I love you sir❣️❣️❣️❣️
I attached a note with llarge letters to the toilet tank in all bathrooms, saying *PLEASE PUT LID DOWN BEFORE FLUShING *.
A rental hoyse had an lod hide-in-the-wall tooth brush holder. It spins to expose it and spins back to a wall plate
GREAT VIDEO!! 👌🏻

I change my toothbrush on the 1ST day of every month.
I keep it in a plastic bottle easy access
What about UV light ?
I never keep my toothbrush in the bathroom.
I pour some alcohol in a cup soak it for a while then rinse it with hot water
Wonderfull.
@motivationaldoc. thank you doctor
Wow i didnt know people flushed with the toilet seat up?! 😮
I spray my toothbrush with food grade hydrogen peroxide. And I put it by itself in a cabinet.
dip the toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide for 30 seconds and rinse well. Thats enough to significantly reduce the bacterial load.
