you dont want to start any piston aircraft engine with any of these oils in those temperatures.. engine needs to be preheated or spend the night in a hangar... it wouldn´t survive that too often...
Is this really a Shell commercial!? Testing at ~-35 C, a mineral vs semi-synthetic, thus them W-referenced along SAE J300 to -15 C and -20 C respectively. No wonder the semi-synthetic flows better.
Iived in Montana run 20/50 all the time never an issue not ever. the oils thicker stays on parts if your worried about it add Muscle MT10 to the oil and never look back. It's an anti friction metal treatment added to any oil for motors transmissions hydraulics ECT... They have testing on the muscle MT 10 here on TH-cam best stuff ever.
Eric Ernst The "w" stands for "winter" when seen in oil grade designations. 5w-30 would be read as a 5 grade's viscosity when cold which is suitable for winter, and a 30 grade's viscosity when hot.
even at 0 F i would consider a to low temperature for using 20W50 . No lower as 45 i would go use this oil. Mine is a modified road engine, more load on bearings especially valvetrain components wich have gone up in load, and a bit of a leadfoot i got. i will find out how Valvoline VR1 20W/50 performs in my car.
The comments clarifies my doubts. Thanks! Ill stick with manual recommended 20w50 because i face summer riding conditions above 0 degree c all time
stick with fully synthetic 10w50
They should compare wigh competitors 15w50 instead of using competitor's 20w50.
We all know that 20w50 is more thicker.
Coming soon: 1 pound of feather vs 1 pound of lead
Well I use 20W-50 because the average temp here in my city is 40c.

Never had a problem with 20w50 in my 1993 Camry. Also here it never goes below 1 degree Celsius. But average 25 to 35 in summer. I use 15w40 in winter
oil is not only about flow good stick is an other factor i think

Come on! Can the differences be that extreme?!
You shouldn't compare mineral vs. Semisynthetic. It widens even more the differences.

Can I use 20w50 here in our place 20degress every morning afternoon 20to30degress
Same question I got
Why comparision between miniral Vs semi synthetic oil
Porque los aceites sintéticos los están haciendo en su mayoría de grado 15w 50, y no 20w 50?

Entre menor sea el numero es mas soluble y pasa mas facil el ceite lo q da mejor lubricacion
We all know 20w50 is no good at -40 maybe 0F or above i use 20w50 only in summer time
thats right, whats the application of use.
Looks delicious

No Brasil o óleo nunca ficara assim igual a mel, inverno de 16º+ no Rio de janeiro Brasil
Santa Catarina chega a fazer -10C

Why didn't you use some weight oil?
What does the first 'w' stand for?
Eric Ernst The "w" stands for "winter" when seen in oil grade designations. 5w-30 would be read as a 5 grade's viscosity when cold which is suitable for winter, and a 30 grade's viscosity when hot.
mannys9130 the first w in aeroshell w 15w-50. I have since learned that it us a designator for shell's ashless dispersant oil.
Eric Ernst Ah, my mistake.
mannys9130 no problem
Never noticed that it had a W before the viscosity rating. Thanks for the heads up. 🤠
What is the temperature?
-40 degrees F
20w 50 is only good to about 0 degrees Fahrenheit
even at 0 F i would consider a to low temperature for using 20W50 . No lower as 45 i would go use this oil. Mine is a modified road engine, more load on bearings

нах?я а главное зачем тестировать масло на текучесть при низких температурах если оно для этого изначально не предназначено?
You still don't wanna use 15w-50 in -40 regardless of brand.
You dont want to use any oil in -40, i would preheat my engine geezus H christ.
temp?
In this test oils were stored at -40° F for 24 hours.
@@KadexAeroSupply but the lab and the ramps were at room temp right? That woukd make the test at higher temps, like minus 25C or something.
Yang mana elok ye
Who in their right mind starts a cold soaked -40 motor? That’s a bunch of BS
Not even fair comparison.
Mineral vs semi synthetic
What a fool competition
