- Our FAMILYS FIRST festival in the Philippines?! As a family of 5 we never thought that we’d be able to brave an incredibly busy and crazy Filipino festival - but we didn’t want to let that hold us back! Panagbenga is the flower festival of Baguio, celebrating culture, and the wonderful nature of north Luzon. So we couldn’t exactly turn down an opportunity like that now?! We were so grateful that we got to be apart of this after two years of being cancelled due to the pandemic, and it did not disappoint! Our first festival experience went so incredibly well we definitely would do it all again! 🇵🇭

Great vid
🙏
Great to see that you've enjoyed the festivity indeed, despite of the swarming crowd around, and luckily the weather was all good, too. Panagbenga is from the Kankanaey term meaning “the season of blooming”, and the history behind it actually derived as a tribute for the Cordillerians' resilience after the horrific and deadly 1990 Luzon earthquake. The festival also reflects traditions and values of Baguio and the whole Cordillera region thru its Flora and Fauna. Annually celebrated month-long on February but the event highlights happen only during the last weekend of that month. Hope you'll return to Baguio City again one day soon!
It was amazing weather which was a bonus
@@wistlfamilyadventures weather is still cool until this March first week, then the summer or dry season will be next immediately.
I agree, weather is so cool.
nice from baguio
🧡
What i love most of your video and why it standout from others is that:
1. You introduce what Panagbenga is all about...now i know...i never knew that it has something to do about the deadly 1990 earthquake that killed thousands
2. You gave the meaning of each dance from each tribe which is so very comprehensible....you know better than us...
3. You shared your experienced with utmost honesty with the ups and downs
4. My respect to you Wistl family adventure🥰💯👍👏🙏
Keep doing what you do as family. This chanel will soon to be recognized. Hopefully more viewers gets into you channel. Such pure and kind hearted family
Thank you 🙏
Wow Panagbenga! 💐🌸💮🏵🌹🥀🌺🌻🌼🌷🪴
We hope you enjoy our video
I think what's special about your visit and Panagbenga 2023 parade besides its resumption since lockdown and the cultural aspect, is the participation of school schildren closer to Harry's and Elowen's ages and many Gen Z and young adults. It also seems bereft of the über commercialization that Panagbenga has become in the decades since its inception (and the horrendous vehicle and foot traffic it has brought Baguio City), and is therefore much closer and rooted, as it were, to the local fare and celebration it was originally meant to be (also, less of the amplified spiels and Western club music at daytime, more of the beats).
We very much appreciate your family taking the trip up to Baguio and seeing it with a renewed perspective. Stay safe up there. I rarely comment about keeping your valuables safe as well which Baguio City became notorious for, that even with a much stricter local administration at the helm, it's always good to be on the lookout especially in such large gatherings that attract visitors from all over the country. Cheers!
So true it was great to see the involvement of the young and how amazing they did
So proud watching ur vlog of our panabenga 2023 to my beloved hometown. So proud of our rich culture and tradition as a pure igorota. Thank you for this!
You should be very proud 🧡🇵🇭
I’m glad your family is there to watch it. There’s a lot of people who wish they could’ve been there 😊
We loved it
It's been years since I last set foot on Panagbenga, let alone Baguio City. So glad I was able to see it again, even if virtually. All thanks to you. Enjoy. 🙂
Our pleasure!
Likewise!
This looked like a very well coordinated festival indeed. Colour, dance, music and smiling happy faces. Thankyou for sharing. Glad you all having such a great time there in the Philippines. 💯💐👍
It was awesome
I also got very emotional when I watched that last Saturday. I don't know if it was due to my red week mood swings or if I just really miss the times when I used to participate in the street dancing parade and competition during my elementary school days. It is also awesome how Panagbenga never fails to showcase the rich culture of the whole Cordilleran region. One more thing is that this is the resumption of Panagbange after 3 years!
It's great to know that your family is safe and enjoyed the festivity as much as I did. ^-^
What a colorful performances
It really was
It's truly amazing that you kept up with the filming of the festival in spite of the crowd and the children in tow. Watching your blog makes us feel right in the middle of it all

@@motivationontop6587 good morning
I love your videos, comparing to other vloggers. Your content is very raw. No fancy editing.
We appreciate that!
Great job Wilst family. Thanks for covering the festival. I think the kids did very well. I couldn't imagine the challenge when you have 3 kids in tow.

🧡
You guys had a nice spot. I was actually still studying at Saint Louis University in Baguio when that earthquake happened. Watching this video made me feel I was part of the audience. I can’t wait to see the floats.
I bet that would of been scary and it was a very good spot so lucky, the floats be in tonight’s video at 7pm
Thanks to this video.. I cant even visit Bagiuo every year
THANK YOU FOR COMING HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES. HOPE YOU AND YOUR WHLOE FAMILY WWLL COMEBACK NEXT YEAR(2024 PANAGBENGA)
Out of all the vlogs that covered the opening of Panagbenga yours is the more thorough. You featured almost everyone of the performers. And kudos to you and the kids for pushing thru and made the 2 hour watch. Thank you for making it feel like we where there with you. And congrats for the city and the police for keeping the festival orderly and safe. 2023 Panagbenga is different from when I last saw it, they really focused on traditional dancing and performers. But its still a great experience.
We are glad you enjoyed it
The last time i watch the panagbenga festival was around 2012; the different Igorot custumes and dances depending on what part of the Cordillera region are played with gongs. In different parts of the United States we also have our own BIBAAK canao every 4 yrs. BIBAAK is an acronym representing the 5 provinces of the Cordillera region. I am one proud Igorot and missing my beautiful place.
now that is one cool Filipino festival ❤
Salamat po
I wanna go

My little sister was there, one of the parade dancers ❤️ glad you love the place and the event ❤️
The dancers were incredible 🤗
Army Navy burger n burrito are my fave there
Will have to try
Thanks for sharing this video. I enjoyed watching.
Your welcome
That's why i truly believed that Filipinos are Islanders! Look at them so many different tribes 🤩
Great to see
That’s not an Islander culture, that’s the original Austronesian culture. We Filipinos, especially the Igorot, are the purest Austronesian culturally, linguistically, and genetically.
Pacific Islanders are not really Austronesian genetically. Pacific Islanders are the result of intermixing between Papuan/Melanesian/Australoid and Austronesian. Even their culture are influenced from us Filipinos.
Thank you for sharing this festival street dance. For us that very far that can't attend , we are happy for this vedio.
Our pleasure!
Each regions has their own distinctive celebrations and festivals. Cant wait for you your family to witness more of it as you travel around the country ❤
I’m excited to go to the Philippines

You picked a very good spot, perfect where they stop and perform
We got very lucky
I love ur video so much. It's a pure family oriented wc d filipinos appreciate so much because they are family oriented people.
You are so kind
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m from Baguio but now here in the US. I miss Baguio so much it’s been almost 2 decades since my last Panagbenga experience. The Panagbenga Theme song was actually composed and arranged by my late grandfather Dean Macario Fronda. It’s actual title is “Tribute To The Cordillerans”. It’s nice to hear this song again. Brings back memories. Glad your family got to enjoy this year’s festivities. I hope someday to be able to experience it again. Enjoy the rest of you stay in the Philippines!
Thank you for featuring Panagbenga. Cordillera Region is very rich in culture. They were able to maintain their heritage and tribes. Unlike us lowlanders. Hehehe.
Our pleasure!
I love Baguio City and Panagbenga Festival. I hope I can visit next time
You should!
That was awesome! Lucky you guys got the nice spot to watch it even though the sun is in front of you but it was good though cause its morning sun and you got to experience 1 of the Filipino Festivals. They used to have floats of flowers too.
The floats will be in tonight’s video at 7pm
Wow, you captured all the performance of each of the provinces of the Cordillera region.
We tried our best
Wished I was there and enjoyed the Festival.
Aw we hope we filmed as good as we could so you can at least watch it with us together ☺️

You guys are amazing! I love your content. Thank you for giving light to my city. I hope you get to return and experience Baguio on the off-season. The city has its charms that the touristy crowd doesn't see. All the best in your travels. Keep safe and more power!
Thanks for showing us the event. I've been there 4 yrs ago before pandemic strikes. I miss the place and the weather.
Our pleasure!
I really enjoyed this video. This is a treat because I have never been to Baguio. Love the performances and love that you loved it as well. What a cute shark balloon Oslo. I want one. 😄
Good for you. I'm jealous you've got to see this first-hand. I wish to see this again. Last time I witnessed this was 2009.

Thanks to you i was able to watch Panagbenga😊. You guys are patient hehe, as a Baguio local i don't have much the patient to be in a crowd, i think i attended Panagbenga only 2x😊...
Road to 50k I'm happy your family enjoyed your visit in Baguio
Appreciate your videos. The world should see this huge festival showcasing the Filipino culture Keep safe !!!
You all got Baguio right this time around...
Certainly did 🙏🍓🧡
Amazing 😲🤩🏵️🌺
Thanks 🤗
Very nice shots! All my years in the Philippines, I’ve never been to the Panagbenga… thanks for the effort and the additional info.
You’re correct, men’s traditional clothing shows their behind… I used to dress my son that costume in school when he was young… his classmates always laughed a lot but it makes the Igorot culture unique. Most Filipino boys [I think] had the experience of wearing that costume in school.
Hi Wisti family welcome to Baguio City enjoy rhe festiva God bless your family staysafe
Thanks for visiting our festival ,in the Pines City of Baguio ,Me living here in Baguio but I dont alway come in thefestival because I know that is so crowed I just watch in the TV
Thank you so much 😊
I hope pilipino viewers will recognize how this family live like... very simple... look the father their children and mommy look very humble like how they dress...like how they take their families outside ....unlike SOME pilipino men/women who always like to look rich 🤣🤣😅😅 ...just saying..
Thats how i look at them...i admire them❤️❤️❤️
Salamat po for your very kind words
Ow wow! I enjoyed watching this so fracking much! The parade, the dances and the indigenous music of the Cordilleran, everything is just amazing 🥰 I missed dancing cultural dances, used to dance in Folk Arts Theatre and CCP before. It was nice to see Baguio again and even glad to see that you had enjoyed the Panagbenga Festival🥰 Kudos Wistl Fam for today's epic vlog🤘
do you watch trifate?
@@dancampana6757 Hello, yes I am their avid fan and subscriber as well. Wistl Fam and TriFate crew are my favorite vloggers🥰
It was a great experience and you are very skilled , the dancing was awesome
12:50 it is depending on the province not the region because they are basically only in & from the provinces of the Cordilleras region. And your right about 'family friendly' which you can notice majority of the audience & because the city itself has that character & also a very well-organized/managed event unlike if you compare it to those that you mentioned which seems to be chaotic, & have no crowd-control almost a party like event which I myself would not consider going if I have young kids like yours but Baguio city👌👍Anytime😎
It was so organised very impressed
My frst panagbenga was in 1997 im 1st yr college at slu.. and the rest is i just stayed at home 😂. Thats what baguio pips do during panagbenga.. i still remember the karyatids of slu architecture dept.
21:21 Hahaha so many buns.
😂
Good for you and your family watched the panagbenga festival, good luck.
Thank you!!
Hello Wistl family! ❤
Good morning!
love u guys, u made it. salamat po ❤️🙏 and can't wait for the next one 🍓
🧡🧡🧡
actually im surprised that the crowd isn't that big this time.. i remembered pre-pandemic, we can't even walk in overpasses, you will get stuck in there for almost 30 minutes just to walk a 1 min walk in a daily basis. the roads where you guys are standing are full of people that others tend to even watch while hanging themselves in fences or sitting on a tree. we will even leave our houses 3 or 4 am in the morning just to have a good spot with a good view..
i also performed 4 times before when i was still in junior high school and we won every time. it's such a cool feeling.
Well, well, well, One of the best vlogs about Panabenga, the annotation was spot on... I enjoyed it a lot!
Wow great presentation of filipino culture
glad you made it to Panagbenga
🧡🧡🧡🍓
Marching bands are one of the great things Filipinos are quite good at. We usually collaborate with Japan in this kinds of stuff
Awesome
We love marching bands
@@wistlfamilyadventures I can see why
Modern day Igorots have German, Japanese and American genes in them....explains the rich features and attitude.....😊❤ NATO, Oceania and Japan came to rescue the young of the Cordilleras and their age from corrupt Firipin....
I'm here again😊
I'm happy that more people are watching your vlog since you choose the Philippines to travel😊
