Thanks Jack for making so many delightful videos. You are tied for my favorite coffee show with James Hoffmann and then Lance Hedrick for more cutting edge coffee theory. Have a great weekend!
I really like conical hand grinders. I use a Commadante which usually pregrind some beans with my Mazzer and feed it. It's easier then to fine grind for espresso and i find that it opens up the flavours!
I was just watching your old video about the K-Plus - and realized I dont need to to deepclean this amazing grinder ever lol. close to no coffee inside after about half a year if you blow 😏 it regularly
if i were to summit a video idea, could it be possible to blind taste test espresso using a "chilling ball" or whatever its called. i saw it online, its a heavy metal ball that is frozen and the coffee is dripped onto it in order to cool it down. i mainly drink iced milk espresso so i think it will be a very good idea instead of waiting for the normal espresso to cool down. i dont want your to waste your money buying a "special" metal ball for it. maybe you could use some whiskey stone or something as a replacement.
I have an old videos about this. You can get cheap balls on amazon. th-cam.com/video/7Rh0M6dbGGM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3Ru1BktnlkmwZMZy and th-cam.com/video/YLHfZRjlKWA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=csnrC2eR_wv_48yO
Just had the same issue after cleaning. I disassembled it and positioned the bigger ring (the one touching the spring) just as in the video (I had it with the "lips" or higher parts downward touching the spring, when they should be up, away from the spring). Then I got the spinning back to being as fluent as when new.
I don't get the whole calibration thing. How can it ever not be on 0? it spins both ways and with small increments, you just turn it until the 0 aligns with the white dot. In the video you just seem to have stopped before going to 0, why?
@@oniadrian just think about it as if you were thightening the screw. If you do it too tight or not tight enough the grind indicator can end up on either side of 0 at the lowest point.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I figured it out. It actually stops at one point it just didn’t seem to do so the first time I tried it. It helped me get it calibrated too. Thanks for the tips!
Love this video! I just got the K-Ultra for my pour overs. I’m confused though. In the user grind setting it says to set it 8-9 for pour over. Is 5-6 better in your experience? Great video!
Thx for watching! In manual I think they say 3.5 for espresso and I am usually at 2.2. Check with works for you. I use Orea most of the time and prefer those lower settings for my pour overs.
@@mycoffeeshow111 gotcha. I use my K-Ultra exclusively for pour overs. I use my DF64 for espresso. So I was wondering about your pour overs settings with the K-Ultra. Thank you!
1Zpresso should use your video as a calibration tutorial. Just calibrated my j-max, never realised how easy it was
Thx for watching. How do you like your J Max?

Very interesting idea. So you pre grind at very coarse settings like for french press?
@@mycoffeeshow111 Yes double more or less the size of a pour over i would say. You should give it a try!

I do agree that they are very low on retention so you could get away with no cleaning at all #keepitdirty4ever
thank you.. btw can you make a review with J-Ultra and result comparison to Niche?

I'm guessing it is a lot of work but it would be great if you could get more USA affiliate links.

Helloo!
Which 1zpresso would you recommend me to pour over (french press, moka pot) and maybe some day espresso?
Hi, ZP6 would be great but not for espresso. K Ultra works nicely for all brew methods.
Hi Jack, out of curiosity what setting do you usually use for the irea abd v60 on the k ultra
I haven’t done V60 for a while but I would probably be between 6-6.5. I mostly use Orea now.
@@mycoffeeshow111 what setting do u use for the Orea? 6-6.5?
@@alifalamarzi686 I would start with 5.8 and see how it goes. With Orea I don’t want to brew 15g of coffee for longer than 3min.
I did the same thing you did, but it is a little harder to spin than it was before cleaning. Why is this happening?
Not sure. It should be exactly the same. Double check if you put everything in the right order.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Is it normal to be at point 0 with all my strength?

The 8 to 9 recommendation is probably more for something like a Chemex or for 4:6 pour over
