Every year in autumn 1Zpresso releases new grinders (or new versions of old ones) so maybe I should wait until then with buying ZP6? Or maybe Pietro grinder instead?
The number one reason to get a K-Ultra over the C40 is the fact that you can grind 18g for espresso in 30 seconds. When I tried a commandant it you probably close to 2 minutes
I have the Comandante C40 Mk3 and the 1Zpresso K-max that I use for my pour-overs. I agree 100% with this reviewer. @@CoffeeXmusic thx for watching. Comandante is good but if you already have K Max you can as well stick with it. In the next two weeks I should have video comparing C40 with new C60 version.
Great review! I own both C40 and K Ultra, and they are very close in comparison! Personally, I prefer the clarity, faster espresso grinding, and outside dial settings of the K Ultra, which gives it a slight edge over the C40. It's all a matter of preference! Both are flagship grinders that will make you a great a cup of coffee.
Thank you for your kind words. I do agree- both great in terms of taste. 1Zpresso is easier to use and so I often prefer it over C40. Still not sure which one to take for my holidays in the next few weeks.
C40 vs Zp6 on pour over: C40 will have more complexity, a bit more body, and a bit more caramel/chocolatey sweetness. Zp6 will have higher fruit sweetness, higher clarity, more florality, you can get similar intensity but it won't have the same thickness in mouthfeel as C40. My favourite analogy is Zp6 is like neutral sounding speakers, C40 has the bass and treble turned up a bit more. The better the coffee inherently, the further Zp6 will pull away from C40. Zp6 is at matching grind size will brew faster than C40. You have to grind finer enough that Zp6 brew is longer in brew time than C40 to get similar intensity of flavor. Zp6 at its finest grind setting can barely pull a 6.9/7 bar, 1:2 shot. It can probably do turbo shots but otherwise it really is not for espresso. It definitely grinds faster than C40 though. I would say Zp6 is better but maybe 10% difference. Most people would not be able to tell them apart if not side by side. In another note, I still highly recommend the Timemore 078 for pour overs. It is the first electric grinder I have tested that I find to be consistently better than Zp6. The only grinder I have tried that is more expensive is the DF83 with SSP HU burrs but that isn't ideal for pour over.
Thank you very much for all the information. Seems like ZP6 will be closer to flavours for K Ultra then. Personally I don’t do that many pour overs to justify a separate electric grinder for it but maybe I should.
@@mycoffeeshow111 ah in that case I cannot justify the 078 over the Zp6. For me personally I could only justify the 078 as I was planning on using it in a cafe setting for pour overs and for bulk cupping

Having used a C40 the last year and purchasing a ZP6 a month ago, I still very much like the C40. I wouldn’t say it’s better than the ZP6, but the difference between them is not huge, it’s just that the ZP6 with lower fines presenta coffee in a slightly different way. The C40 is still a great taste profile, no matter what new grinders are released, it will always keep producing great cups. You might prefer the grind profile of a newer grinder, but I wouldn’t FOMO on another hand grinder, be that even the Pietro or ZP6. That being said, I prefer the ZP6 profile for filter coffee. I don't care about a one-shot taste test. I don't believe I--or almost anyone--can really tell the difference between coffee ground with one good quality burr grinder vs. another. The taste comes from the coffee beans, not the grinder. What I care about is build quality, ergonomics, how fast and efficient the grinder is, how easy it is to change grinf settings, and how easy it is to clean the thing. If it takes me 45-60 seconds to grind the coffee with a hand grinder, I'll use it. If it's going to take around two minutes, I'll probably go back to using an electric motorized machine. The 1Zpresso seems to have the Comandanted beaten on the factors where I can see a difference.
I agree that we can’t judge a grinder just on one shot. Even 10 would not be enough and I am not sure if I would survive that many in one go. Often what I say at the end is based not just on 1 test but on my overall experience using this equipment. Yes, K Ultra is much easier to use on a daily basis. 1) keeping kingrinder and buy c40 mk4 only for pour overs and will use kingrinder for espresso (18um per click settings )
2) will sale kingrinder and will buy all in one 1zpresso K ultra for both pour overs and espresso/cappuccino
Kindly guide me as m getting both C40 and K ultra at same price
Sure. I would go for K Ultra for both espresso and pour overs. Usability, taste and overall experience with it is great. If you are looking for cheaper alternative you can consider K6. I have a video comparing both. th-cam.com/video/zgOmc5ZpvGE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2cwjKYGWiCxXUkGW
Thnx for great video! Do you ever tried the X-Ultra? I ordered one, but still have some doubts about my choice for mostly pour overs.
@@doc.davydov thx for watching. Do you mean Mazzer Omega X? I had it in my hands but never tried coffee out of it.
@@mycoffeeshow111 thx for answering! No, I mean 1z X-ultra. The model after x-pro
@@doc.davydov there are so many new grindes that it is difficult to keep up with them. I know that K Ultra is very good. Please let me know what you think about your X grinder once you play with it.
@@mycoffeeshow111 of course, I will get it in a month 😊
The newer outer burr on the x ultra makes coffe slightly worse apparently
What about J Max vs K ultra for espresso, which is better?
I had J Max some time ago and the shots were really tasty and it was very fast. The downside was that it was very hard to actually grind on it. So much so that I haven’t used it much.
Recently I got C60 and will compare it with Ultra soon.
I do believe that different grinders can present flavour notes from the same coffee in a different way. I experience it every day.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Thanks. I just got the K Ultra. I've used it about 5 times and it works very well. If I were making coffee for parties or groups of people, I'd probably want to use a motorized grinder, but for one or two people, once or twice a day, this hand grinder is as good and is faster--if you count the time you have to spend cleaning an electric grinder and cleaning around it.
Nice video my friend
I would like to see from you a review/comparison test of my kingrinder K4
It's very cheap, high quality, certified for drill use, and very fast, takes about 25-30" for espresso grind
Thank you! Not sure about K 4 but I am thinking about a cheaper hand grinder for my tests 😊
@@mycoffeeshow111my comment disappeared, don't know why
I was saying, you can try K3 also, same grinder, same burrs, but internal adjustment, for less than 99 euros
My K4 bought it for 115 euros
@@wakeawaken430 thx. Sometimes YT plays with the comments.
I have an eye for something, but won’t tell you what it is yet 😛
@@mycoffeeshow111 Looking forward my friend 👍
Can you please compare these with kingrinder k6/k4?
Maybe I will. Never tried any kingrinders b4.
@@mycoffeeshow111 By the looks, IMO kingrinder seems to be poor man's 1zpresso grinder
@@pravinlnrk that is what I heard as well.
It's no surprise that these grinders were close. 1zpresso stole Comandante's burr design.
You could be onto something here
Oh btw, I think you can sell your C40 without remorse... so you can buy the Baracuda C60 when it comes out and review it! 🤣
I carefully track news about v60 and I really wonder why comandante don't want to fix some problems c40 has... Btw c60 will probably weight a ton.
@@svistaq2907 C60 is 1Kg with the glass cup (!!!) but it's all steel inside... I have a feeling they won't update C40 anymore because they will keep both C40 and C60 in the lineup, that's also why I'm afraid the C60 will cost more than the C40 costs now.
@@varieedeventualii considering that c60 insights is solid cnc cutted stainless it won't be cheap for sure. And I believe it will exceed 1kg mark, but we will see. Well maybe they will update c40 in future but I really hoped there might be outer size regulation or at least click counting system...
@@varieedeventualii I contacted Comandante long time ago asking for C60 for my channel. They said they only produced over 20 of them and they were already distributed between important people.
@@svistaq2907 do you think I should invest in Pietro hand grinder instead? Not sure if it’s good for travel, weighing 1.5kg
Good video
Thx for watching!
I have a c40 and I prefer the timemore. Comandante is overpriced and lives off it's name. I bought the MK4 at MICE2023 and the timemore last year. Made over 50 brews and the acidity is better from the timemore I'll get the ultra when i have the money.
I've gone through two packs or kalita papers and a pack of April papers testing them since September 2023 😅
I have done C40 vs Timemore some time ago. You are right, if acidity is your priority Timemore will be better. C40 usually brings up more sweetness and complexity. Ultra should be perfect for you.
Talking about overpriced grinders, I recently got Comandante C60 and will be testing it next month. Should be interesting
@mycoffeeshow111 don't you think great acidity is what people remember? A proper lip smacking crispy citrus Kenyan or Ethiopian. I love that citrus floral sugar crispness.
@@thisladlovescoffee yes, I love acidic coffees. I also like complexity in flavours.
@@mycoffeeshow111 drinking washed Jigesa now off the April brewer. Very nice.
If only I liked hand grinders 😅
We need to convert you 😛
215 pounds? Wow a c40 in US is like $325.
Right now in Poland you can get it for around $220.
1zpresso j ultra better
I had J Max and for espresso it was really good but it was a proper workout to use it, even though it grinds fast.
Hahaha… finally this comparison video after I got the comandante with red clix. And this further reinforces my belief in my decision. 🥹
So cool. Loved it 🐝
Thx for watching. You should be happy with your grinder. How are your forearms and elbows holding?
I recorded it few weeks ago but simply didn’t have time to do the editing b4 today.
I am almost a Popeye now. 😂
But I love the grind personally 😅
