    Thank you posting these. Like the others have said before, this and your other vids are such good presentations on how to do plaster. Can you tell me which size speedskims you find yourself using most often or are most useful. Thank you

    I do like to watch plasterers work , me being an electrician.
    My plasterer mate is a bit naughty , and loves it when the painters moan that his finish isn’t smooth enough.
    He will polish a skim to a glass finish , good luck putting paint on it !

    I give you credit for having a go at a difficult job plastering. I always thought there was 7 stages to getting the best finish. Stage 1 apply first coat 2mm thick with a ridged trowel. Stage 2 flatten with a ridged trowel or speed skim. Stage 3 apply 2nd coat with a ridged trowel 1mm thick. Stage 4 flatten with a ridged trowel or speed skim. Stage 5 wet trowel, Stage 6 wet cross trowel. Stage 7 plastic trowel. Stages 1-4 with a trowel like a Marshall town permashape. Stage 5 and 6 with a flexi trowel like a OX ultra flex. Stage 7 if needed with a plastic trowel. Depends what finish your after.

      Of all the professional plasterer presentations on here, I've never seen it done in 7 stages. Presumably you were being facetious.

      @@MarkHopewell no he’s actually being fair. If you was to add in sponging that’s 8,and depending on the finish you’re getting a 3rd wet trowel can help. Especially if it’s hot out

    How much of the 25Kg bag of plaster powder did you use to mix up each time to finish the first coat of the whole wall?
    And also do you recall the plaster powder to water mix ratio for each mix?
    Meanwhile, thank you for this very helpful presentation.

      Hi bud I would have used one bag with roughly 11.5-12 litres of water and whatever is left after first coat I usually use in the second coat provided it hasn’t gone off to much.
      Hope this helps👍

    In your other video you said 'it's not rocket science, plastering'. It looks to me like a frikkin' art form and you are an artist. Cheers !

    Great video , can you please advise me when I should use Bonding/or hardwall as in confused.

    • @worklife4221
      @worklife4221  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate bonding is used as an undercoat plaster it can go onto a new wall or can be used for patching repairs ,you normally have to PVA the wall when applying bonding where as hardwall plaster can go straight onto a masonry surface such as block work without the use of PVA.
      Hope this helps

      Bonding is for low suction back grounds and hard wall is for high suction backgrounds .

    Another lovely video buddy. What ratio PVA do you use?

    • @ipfishing1466
      @ipfishing1466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate it depends on the quality of the PVA but usually about 3.1

      @worklife4221  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate yes when the plaster is just starting to go and you can lightly run your fingers along the wall if the plaster is wet then leave it as you said when it gets greasy hope this helps

    I always thought you didn't use any water, (except on the trowel) with the final / plastic trowel, hence the term 'dry trowel'. Can you explain please?

    Shame they don't give you spare brushes to go in those mixing drills. Wouldn't make as much money would they. Lol. That's why.
