Excellent video … after many years I’ve gone the other way with buckets … Rhino for mix and white tub for cleaning paddle. Mixer stands up in white tub and for whatever reason I get a better mix in the Rhino … maybe less trapped air ? Who knows .. just a comment
Speaking as a keen D I Y’er ,these videos are fantastic if you’ve at least done a one week beginner plastering course… At least get the feel of it and the mess before you do up your lounge … Watching expert tradesmen like this guy will bring it all into focus. Top video mate !
If the noise of your step up or aluminium ladders irritates you as much as mine did, spray a small amount of WD40, using its straw onto any and every metal to meta joint, even where rungs join the ladder strings, ( sides), and the creaking stops. Works on loft ladders brilliantly. If indoors like loft ladders, use sparingly, with a dust sheet and wipe off any excess as you go
Excellent work dude! If you want to 'show-up' the roughness of the surface... try a floodlight shining across the surface, around 6" off it, it will look like the craters on the moon, even if it looks 'perfect'... ☺️👍
I mixed the cretestone with a stick for a small patch up. It got hard quickly. And I apply to thick . Can I sand it down. And must I have the tool to mix
Gotta get me a speed skim. I got an artex ceiling in my bedroom that needs a plasterboard repair where we had a leak. I’ve done a few walls which looked decent (after some easy fill ) but this speed skim looks perfect for me as I was worried about trolling it all down.
LOL "have to leave it now the whisk packed up".... in my day we only ever used a bit of batten and knocked everything up with a stick Or a shovel and plastering bath when floating walls.... everyone these days wants it the easy way. When my old man used to float with sand n cement I used to have to mix in the street often 4-6 yards or so in a day. On the plus side your one of the few spreads I've seen take stuff off the hawk properly.
Technology has changed mate its all about saving your body as none of us are getting any younger so why struggle when you don't need to , my dad also used to make me mix with a lump of timber and also used a bath to. thanks for watching
Great vid and so well put across. Learning loads and absolutely love the no nonsense style of explaining what you are doing. Some of the vids here are a bit too overwhelming but I think you’ve got it spot on. Keep em coming. Which Refina speedflex is it you use 1 or 2? Thanks
Hi, can i ask, my living room has perfectly decorated walls but the ceiling needs overboarding and plastering, can this be done without messing up the walls ?
Hi yes it can be boarded and plastered without disturbing the majority walls with care, I have done it many times if you watch my video on plastering artexed ceilings you will see how to protect the walls but you will have to just touch up the paintwork where the walls meet the ceiling when you are ready to paint the ceiling.
Always 1 coat on board. Been doing it different ways for different people but now I do it my way. It saves you time and money. Only use ultraflex for last trowel. I been doing it 25 years. Why do it twice
Hi mate, I'm having an extension built with new 350 cavity walls, the existing is 330 but I want a flush finish, I'm having the new wall d&d obviously but how do I make up the 20mm discrepancy on the existing wall, would you fix another piece of plasterboard to the wall first, ( glued or screwed?) then just d&d the whole lot new and old and line completely flush, be interested to hear your thoughts mate, cheers 👍🏻
I would probably d&d some 9.5mm plasterboard to existing to bring it flush with the new wall and then d&d over the lot, the only reason for using 9.5mm is purely to give it a bit more adhesive when sticking rather than the dots of adhesive being to thin. Hope this helps
The lighting in this tube allowed me to see a clear definition in the plaster surface. All other plasterers tubes its really hard to see the surface definition. Thank you for this up load. Quick question if I may, Whats the difference between using the Stainless Flex Blade and the Semi Stainless Steel Blade ? They sell two types but there is no description the different applications.
For me the stainless steel blade you can move the plaster about a bit more with the pressure that you apply and the flex blade will give you the smooth finish when doing final trowel, hopefully this helps
Hi,you mix anything else with water?and before you plastering ,you apply pva glue?please let me know thank you 😊 🙏 because i like to try some plastering in my house. thank you. i enjoyed watching.
@@outandabout4971 great videos thanks for the reply all I've ever done is render walls same job over and over up to 1.2 or 1.5 for damp roofing.. I plastered for nearly 10 years and never did one ceiling lol when I see you put your setting on it looks quite wet and you do a one stroke but the new flexi trails and speed skins means you can just throw it on and just flatten it in.. it's moved a long way since I first started one trowel does it all method.. easier on your joints as well.. Hi mate glad you enjoyed vid wet trowel can be done one the second coat is touch dry if it starts to bubble just leave a little longer it usually means its not quite ready.
