Currently reading NRSV Updated (on the advice of r/AcademicBiblical as the closest translation) because I listened to your podcast, so finding out you worked on this edition felt like a real life Agatha Christie plot twist.
Haha, thanks! Book editors like me were commissioned to make suggestions for changes, and I (of course) made a ton, but in the end the decisions belonged to the committee.
In your first comparison with Mat 27:50, Mark15:37 and Luke 23:46 I notice that the NRSV has the exact same wording as the NRSVue; so the problems with the NRSVue, just replicates what has been going on in the NRSV for years now. Also you stated in your podcast that the Luke 23:46 translation from NRSV and NRSVus is "commit my spirit" . The actual translation says "commend my spirit" My version of the New Jerusalem Bible has as a translation "I commit my spirit"...this could be important if Luke is using Psalm31:5... FYI Dean from Adelaide
Many thanks. It's funny, but I noticed that. I was actually looking at the words "commend" but somehow found myself saying, "commit." My guess is that the influence of Jesus Christ Superstar is so strong that I said that while reading the alternative!
Professor, this is an issue too important to be left ignored. On top of that, you are one of the few world renowned scholars on the matter of synopsis so I'm afraid you'll have to let go of your worries and give us all ignorant of the Greek language, the gift of a very accurate translation. We count on you 😊
I've been a fan of your work for years now, since "Bible Secrets Revealed." This episode is fantastic. I can't wait for your next book. 😊
So glad you are back!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 NT Pod is back!!!
Woohoo something new from Dr Goodacre 👍👍
Finished?!?!?!? Can’t wait to read it. 😃
We're SO back!
Which Greek manuscripts are being used to translate from? I feel we should use the earliest fragments/manuscripts to do such.

Haha; thanks! Well, I know several of the people who were involved with the NRSV Updated Edition, so I can begin lobbying them!
