Whatever version we read, we MUST before we read even one verse ask God to give us all His truth, understanding, wisdom and faith that He wants us to have. God won’t let us down if we ask Him.
This will be controversial, and disagreed with. A fact, Satan has attacked God's Word, be it deleting verses or watering down core doctrine. The KJV is (it's a word for word translation, only a few are like that) the closest to the original manuscripts, a good KJV Study Bible is Expositors Study Bible by JSM. As I say, many will disagree, I can disagree with you without being disagreeable. One of the books to read is by David Daniels, Look What's Missing. A example; Jesus was born of a Virgin, KJV, other translations, say, Jesus was born of a woman, big difference. 1 John.1:9 is in KJV, other translations, that verse is omitted. NIV is popular. I encourage you, to look and check it out for yourself!! Lord bless. 🙏🇺🇸🙏
I bought an awesome parallel bible with 4 translations side-by-side with 2 versions per page. So when you flip the page the 4 version can be read side-by-side at the same time. It's great.
Nothing against your friend but I would do some serious research into the most intact Bible version (now that the Dead Sea scrolls have been found) from the Original Greek and Hebrew
I was raised on the KJV, but in the 80s I was in a Christian bookstore, and was handed a blue softcover Bible and told to try it. I think it cost $5. It was the NIV, and suddenly the Bible came alive. It's still my favorite translation...simply because it's the one I read.
@@milk2meatKJV I never said it was the best translation. I read and study other translations, as well. The NIV, however, is my favorite version to read. It's very fortunate today that we have access to so many versions, plus Bible study tools such as e-Sword that allows us to compare verses across many translations.
Bible journey… told KJV, bought KJV..got frustrated. Bought NLT, loved it read through the whole Bible, which peaked my interests in the original languages and their words and true definitions. Wanted more. Researched closest translations. Bought NASB with Greek and Hebrew concordance’s. Blew my mind and loved it as well. Bought ESV study Bible, loved it and its commentary. Which in turn made me pick up KJV again, this time I wound up loving KJV..But still wanted more and researched bibles and read the history of KJV and reformers. Which led me to Geneva..The Bible should stir your interest in Gods word, our history from prophets to apostles to early church fathers to reformers. We should hunger for the true word and its profoundness. All these bibles are blessings, but my favorite has become Geneva with modern spelling and commentary. Stay hungry and God bless!
I myself started on the NLT, loved it also (still do), I’ve read the KJV, loved that one too, now we have the NASB95 and are loving it as well ❤️ truly just LOVE God’s word 🙌🏻
@@AmbianEagleheart It's been 24 for me, after being raised in it and a member for 30 years. It's amazing how many little traces I'm still ferreting out.
I hate to tell you this, but there is no such thing as a "word-for-word" translation. Languages simply do not work that way. "Word for word" is the concept that translators use as a guide as they do the translations, but an actual word for word translation is impossible. Many words in the original languages simply do not exist in English.
It’s Holy Spirit inspired! The different translations will enter into the heart of any man, woman, or child who is truly seeking the heart of God! That’s what really matters.
PS The Amplified is not a paraphrase. It takes some Hebrew and Greek words and defines them in parenthesis for more clarification. Did you actually research all of this or was it another one of your copy and paste jobs??
Ohhh yess...Just imagine how AMAZING the world would be if we "lived out" modern renditions of Deuteronomy 22:28! *Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NIV* “If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and *rapes her* and they are discovered, *he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.”* Why would I ever dare to argue about bible versions? It's so "arrogant" and "divisive" of me to believe KJV is the One True English Bible!
I have read from different Bible translations, but I have found the King James Bible the most reliable. Here's the key to understanding the KJV, do as the Bible says in Pro 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding". I learned to wait upon the Holy Spirit to give me understanding of the passages I read, and trusting Him to do so.
Mark Ward has a good toutube channel explaining some of the old kjv words. He calls them 'false friends' simply because some of them are obsolete or have changed meaning. It is very interesting. I love the kjv simply because I was saved in jail in that was all I had but it also matches the Spanish version I read very well so it's my go to mostly for reading and studying not necessarily for teaching our youth. God’s Word is great! God bless✝️❤️
You have to be careful with the KJV because many of the words you think you may know has a VERY different meaning at the time it was written. Language changes over time. That alone makes it an unreliable translation for modern English speakers. You don’t speak that way. Nobody speaks that was to you. If you like that translation, a modern version would be NKJV or ESV. They are almost identical, just in modern English.
@@Olemann4444 It's why I like comparing and contrasting different bibles. The Geneva Bible (written BEFORE the KJV bible) is an interesting comparison (especially with its footnotes, like an old school "study bible").
My favorite English translation is the NKJV as well. I find it to be both poetic while the old english words are left out. It is not that I dislike the old english but I prefer not having it
Jesus did not hava a King James bible. King James was born in 1566. Jesus was born between 4 and 6 BC. There were manuscripts of the books of the Old Testament, but there was no version of the bible in circulation. The first gospel was written in 70 A.D...respectfully.
@@aquariuscox3682 I dont know if they were trying to be funny or not. but you are correct, the KJV did not exist when Jesus walked the earth. Most scholars agree that James or Matthew was the first of the new testament about 40 AD.
All i know is, the 40-some men, who spent seven years compiling the King James Bible, these for-real scholars had at the very least a good working knowledge of several different ancient languages, by the time they were 12 year olds. As boys, they read stuff like Plato and Aristotle, in Greek.
They relied heavily on Catholic versions of the bible as well as one of the many versions of the textus receptus. The original KJV was/is quite good. Anything more modern is somewhat okay to absolute garbage.
In the preface to the KJV, the translators say that they had a difficult time with the translations, especially the Hebrew. Even they basically said "we did the best we could, but it's not perfect."
This is not to mention that the KJV is FULL of words that meant something much different when it was written than now. Take for instance "study". Study then meant "do your best", not buckle down into books and lectures. Tons of words in KJV like that. It was a top-notch Bible of its time, but today....not so much. The language has changed too much. If you do use it, don't assume you know what a word meant then. Use the Oxford English Dictionary for etymology and definitions of the time.
I had a buddy who had several deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and had seen so many horrible things and confided in me about how many lives he had likely taken. Terrible PTSD. The KJV Bible had him convinced he was condemned due to the KJV mistranslation of “You shall not murder” to “Thou shalt not kill”. Fortunately, I was able to help him understand the original Hebrew. He later got baptized. He’s still struggling with the PTSD though.
@@HayK47Sorry to hear about your friend, however I think your critique is misplaced. You can easily prove this is not the case without going to the Hebrew. God orders to kill multiple times. Romans soldiers got saved multiple times (who obviously had blood on their hands), Moses was a murderer and knew God “face to face.”Obviously God is commanding not to kill in a certain context. The Hebrew word can be rendered either way. It’s not a mistranslation. Let’s say a man is standing accused of murdering his neighbor Bob. If the judge said, “You stand accused of killing your neighbor Bob.” You wouldn’t clamor and tell the judge he used a wrong word.
Be careful with KJV because it has a Calvinist influence. For example it uses the unbiblical Calvinist term “Reprobate” in the second half of Romans chapter 1 leading a lot of people to believe this passage talks people who are willing to repent but are unable. This passage when taken into context by reading into chapter 2 shows us that the Romans 1 passage is talking about the sins of all mankind and anyone who hasn’t repented and been baptized yet. I have to counsel and calm down people all the time on Facebook who are trying but have been terrified by Calvinism and have been convinced they are lost. I spent 4 weeks in. Psych ward myself thinking I was lost but God showed me the truth and now I have peace and trust in Jesus. If I had a dollar for every time I see a post from a scared Christian asking a question using the term “reprobate,” I wouldn’t have to work ever again and I could spend all my time counseling. So this is one reason why I will no longer use the King James Version. Calvinism strips people of their assurance of salvation because they can no longer trust Jesus’s sacrifice for their salvation. Calvinism teaches people that Jesus only died for some. So a Calvinist can never be completely sure that Jesus died for them. So instead of looking at Jesus’s sacrifice for their justification they start obsessing over their fruits which are only evidence of justification not the cause of their salvation. They no longer have peace because they are constantly looking at their fruits to try and figure out if they are saved. Some out of fear take it even further when they start producing works to try and save themselves and once you start producing fruit for the purpose of salvation instead of gratitude of salvation, the fruits turn into filthy rags. The believer is now trying to save himself which is impossible. I see it all the time on the internet and this is how I know the doctrine of Calvinism is evil. Even if we read 1 John 2:2 in the KJV we see that, “And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” You can never have complete assurance of your salvation, as God and the Bible intended, unless you know that Jesus died for everyone and that you can trust his perfect life and blood. Otherwise you can only hope you will be saved. Hope is not assurance and causes some out of fear to turn to themselves for salvation. So I kindly ask that you use please use caution when preaching or teaching from the KJV in order to avoid others falling into unintended Calvinist thinking. If you are a Calvinist I would encourage you to repent of a doctrine that turns God into someone who creates evil and is an unjust god. A god that is not perfect in justice or love. Please revisit verses that Calvinism uses to defend their doctrine and reconcile them with the rest of the Bible that teaches us that God is perfect loving, just, and merciful and that God is righteous so there is no sin in Him. Therefore he cannot create anything evil. Evil must come from the free will of men not from God. Therefore God does not depraved children chosen beyond free will for evil and destruction.
1:30 into the video and I have to comment. Mark makes a great point here about the influence of the reader's personality on the method of interpretation. I think his example of lawyers and accountants emphasizing a meticulous, detailed, legal (etc) interpretation. Likewise a creative person will find "meaning" and the "sprit" of the text. Furthermore, this phenomenon carries over in into the God a person worships. A detailed, legalistic person tends to worship a detailed, legalistic God. A creative, artistic person will likely worship a creative, gracious God and will find meaning in experiences. These personality differences are the reason we have so many different denominations and "flavors" of Christianity. It's fascinating.
As a Bible teacher, the best way to use translations to study the Bible is to not use just one, but several. Whenever I want to pull as much meaning as I can out of a verse I read several translations and ask God for revelation. Using this method I have come across a few favourites which I now use regularly: KJV, NKJV, ESV, AMPC, MSG, NLT, GNT, and the Wuest translation.
As somebody who has studied the Greek of the New Testament over a period of 20+ years, I have some important observations to make about what he's saying. First of all, it is always best to take the time to learn New Testament Greek and to take that before any translation. The Jews are encouraged to study the Old Testament in Hebrew, and the Muslims are encouraged to study the Quran in Arabic. If you are serious about the Bible and what it really says, learning New Testament Greek is very important. There will never be a perfect translation. Second, when he asked the question about why there are so many translations, what he didn't mention is that it's about money. Every publishing house wants to have their own version so they can make money off of it. And some have good scholarship behind it, while others just look like they are copying from other translations and compiling. Really, it gets that bad between translation sometimes. Third, he completely misrepresent the differences between Bible manuscripts. If you were to get into the field of textual criticism, you will see that there are different traditions, or "families", of texts that come from different regions at different times. The differences can be entire passages. This thing about spelling errors and punctuation is often repeated by teachers like him who want to just simply wave away controversy and have you believe the things that they are saying. For example, our earliest manuscripts do not have the story in John 8 of the woman caught in adultery. Some manuscripts have that story in Luke. 1 John 5 :7-8 had a verse included that talked about the Trinity, although that verse does not appear in any manuscript before the 15th century. The ending of the book of Mark came later; our earliest manuscripts have it ending at verse 8 of the last chapter. And there are a lot of other changes that can go so far to challenge established doctrines. What I would say is to look into this yourself and don't listen to a pastor who either has very little knowledge on the subject or is purposefully deceiving you.
Pharasee's had all the knowledge memorized they knew the greek and the hebrew... but were so puffed up they didn't recognize the word in flesh standing right in front of them.... infact they crucified the word
@@damonalexander25 Yes, they were arrogant in their religion and power. But what I'm talking about are things that are proven true that you can look at and know are real. And to Look at such evidence and say, "Well, that's wrong because the spirit speaks the truth to me" is kind of silly. The sky is blue, trees are made of wood, arachnids have eight legs, and there are thousands of different Greek manuscripts of the New Testament that are all different from each other and have some changes that have creeped into them over the centuries. If some spirit is telling you otherwise, you need to question if it is really the Holy Spirit you're listening to.
@mstrainjr..Sorry but you are wrong about The Older Mss not having the verse. Noted historians before your older mss, quoted those verses..Your reasoning doesn't hold water..Toni's husband
Thanks for the video and insight! I’m going to try using NKJV for initial/literal reading, NLT for better understanding, and AMP for clarity 👍🏼 thanks again
I pastor a Chinese congregation. Obviously translation is an important necessity. I think that even in English communication there is a need for clarification. As an example, Translation and interpretation are not the same thing! Translation is an honest effort to accurately convey the words of one language to another. Interpreting is an attempt to communicate one’s understanding of a given statement or sentence. I grew up on the KJV so am familiar with its style, word use and context. After reading the New Testament word for word in Greek I became aware that the KJV itself is a Victorian paraphrase; accurate in its conveyance of the original texts (except for a few Anglican Church leanings) but strictly True in its character. Today, I preach from the KJV, but in reading, paraphrase to provide a flowing narrative where needed, or a clear understanding of its teachings as the case may be. It would be futility to expect an audience struggling with English as a second language to additionally wrestle with Victorian “Thees and thous” I think the same sentiment is needed and helpful in any diverse setting that we encounter, even ‘street’ lingo. I hope this is useful! Blessings! 📖
@@davidmason9925 The thing about the KJV is that it is based on outdated scholarship. Those were mostly late manuscripts that were the result of centuries of changes. Most modern Bibles now follow the Nestle-Aland text, which represents the best of modern scholarship in the field of textual criticism. It is the attempt of scholars to get a more accurate reading of what the original writers intended in their writings. If you compare between the KJV and a more modern Bible, you'll see that the KJV has entire verses added into it, such as I John 5:7, which was added into the Bible around the 16th century.
@@mstrainjr kjv comes from the correct manuscripts and texts. All others come from Alexandrian texts and vaticanus manuscripts. Gnostics and Catholics. Taking away from scripture and affects biblical doctrine.
@@Corinthians-kjv So the correct manuscripts are the later ones with all the additions in them? And the earlier ones without all of those additions are least accurate in your mind? Like, it is a known fact that 1 John 5:7 was in no Greek manuscript before the 16th century, that it was added in very late. But that is correct to you?
Watch that Apocrypha, it can be deceptive, as there is a reason our Fathers kept much of it out. The only one I read is Enoch. But only the "first book of Enoch", as the other's were considered uninspired! We know it was an inspired book, as Jesus brother, Jude, mentions a quote from (the first book); "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." Jude 14,15.
It's a bit disingenuous and he's still pushing this idea that he's the sole arbiter of trustworthiness, despite being kicked out of his last church for financial irregularities and bullying
@@peterjermey7235 Yes, Mark Driscoll is convinced (falsely) that he is gifted with unique insight into Scripture and how it applies to today's events, which is why he makes 1-hour videos almost every day...to bless us with his special Biblical knowledge. His personal behavior is due to his short man's complex, combined with delusions of grandeur and the belief the normal rules do not apply to such an exceptional person as himself. Driscoll is an idiot, and will come to a bad end.
@@peterjermey7235 Driscoll has short-man's complex coupled with this narcissistic idea that he has some unique "prophetic" insight. I love the KJV. It’s my favorite, and best IMO. Other translations can be helpful too. The KJV is really amazing in terms of quality consistency and how well synced the language is from beginning to end. The guys who did the KJV were on a different level. IMO.
Keep in mind the KJV translators often defaulted to the Latin Vulgate in the Old Testament because they were not as proficient in Hebrew as scholars are today. There have been a lot of advancements in the field of translation since the early 17th century.
I mean as long as you're reading a version that does tell you what verses are not in the original I agree, KJV is a nice version and I quote like the traditional english
I really like the J.B. Phillips New Testament paraphrase translation! You don't hear about it much, it was written in England in the 50s, but I think some sections are absolutely brilliant and that it's a worthy addition to any Bible collection. I found it through a Ravi Zacharias talk in which he read a powerful Romans passage from the paraphrase. I've since learned that C.S. Lewis was a huge supporter of the work and also Dan Wallace (he worked on the New English Translation) has spoken well of it.
I’ve completed the Bible for the first time. It took a couple years and I will only now read the NKJV because it didn’t sit right with me that some verses were missing. It said for translation reasons but still I need to have read it all. I also am going to read the apocrypha now because those were missing too. What are your thoughts on the apocrypha? In revelation I read 22:18 + 19 and it says not to add or take away anything. So I want to read it in its entirety. I’d really love your thoughts. I was saved 4 years ago and you are much more knowledgeable than I am.
@savannahjo5578 I would assume the politics of the church going on at that time period. There are a lot of blatantly false books that claim to be lost books of the Bible, but you can tell by reading them that they're baloney. Trying to keep it clean here. Please stay away from the Gnostic books. They're total garbage. There is an unadulterated Bible . It's the Ethiopian Bible. It's never been tampered with by any king or church ruler. I have a copy of it myself. Please look into these things for yourself and listen to what the Holy Spirit tells you. Have a safe and blessed day.
Bel and the Dragon is interesting, not sure on the validity but it's basically a continuation of the book of Daniel. The book of Enoch though, extra Biblical text, is VERY interesting, Jude references it, and also Jesus, "2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2; which is referencing(possibly/probably): Enoch 41 "2. And there I saw the mansions of the elect and the mansions of the holy, and mine eyes saw there all the sinners being driven from thence which deny the name of the Lord of Spirits, and being dragged off: and they could not abide because of the punishment which proceeds from the Lord of Spirits." This is the only time that mansions(from what I've heard, I do want to study this more) are spoken of and I think it's worth looking into; the people in Jesus time would have had access to the book of Enoch and most people in the religious community probably heard this along with all the other books of the OT. Jesus spoke of the mansions and said if it wasn't true, I would tell you. I find that very interesting. I don't consider the book of Enoch as inspired Word, but more like a history book that everyone in the Jewish community probably knew back then. It's also worth noting that fragments of the book of Enoch were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls: The Book of Watchers (1 Enoch 1-36): This section describes the fall of the Watchers, angels who fathered the Nephilim, and their punishment. The Book of Dreams (1 Enoch 83-90): This section contains Enoch's visions of the history and future of Israel. The Astronomical Book (1 Enoch 72-82): This section includes Enoch's revelations on the movement of heavenly bodies and the calendar.
Thank you you’ve given me more to study. I sometimes pray and say sry I’m a lot lol but I have got to read it . I love community and everything but I need to study on my own too. It truly is a living word and personal too I think. I appreciate your help. Thank You!
Be careful what version you use. Nothing shall be added to or taken away.--HB. I'm still searchin myself & compare 1 version to another. It's risky just taking someone's word for it. Maybe as a starting point, but continually pray for guidance. That's the best answer.
English is not my first language so I do prefer the NKJV. I am aware of the subtle changes from the KJV but these are not enough to change the message. Jesus is clearly shown as God and Lord of all. At the same time, KJV is not exactly a correct translation from the Greek. I found NIV to be far from the Greek so I dong go there. NKJV is a good compromise.
Here's how to know if you have a good translation: go to Ephesians 3:9. If the verse ends with "Jesus Christ" then your translation is good. If it doesn't, then you need to toss that bible into the trash and pick up a bible that has the correct verse with nothing removed. And then ask yourself why modern bible translators would remove the name of Jesus Christ from that verse (like the ESV, NIV and many other trash translations do)
Word-for-word is not a measure of accuracy. It is a style. So a sentence in one language might be "I walked to the store" and the word-for-word would end up "to the store, walked I", whereas a thought-for-thought will capture the intent, but not the specific words and grammar.
However, as you mature in the Lord and attend a good gospel preaching church, your understanding grows. One day you look back and wonder why you ever thought the KJV was difficult. The Holy Spirit absolutely helps us to understand.
As a Millennial, I grew up on the KJV Bible. Recently I've discovered the Blue Bible App and its various translations. One of the versions of Bibles I'm trying out is the "Bible in Basic English" (BBE). While I've grown to understand the richness of the language used in the KJV, it's nice to get down to the basics of the Gospel message. Having a fresh, yet simple perspective has helped me obtain a greater grasp of God's message and has helped me understand and feel closer to God in the process. I still like to compare this BBE version of the Bible with the original King James Version, so I can make sure I'm receiving the same message as the one I grew up with studying. Thanks for reminding us that God is blessing us with a Rich Heritage and ways to connect with Him! 😊♥️✝️📖🕊️
The best thing I’ve found ( scripture) is to use many different translations. Dr.Heiser used ESV a lot when teaching. Dr.Heiser a Hebrew biblical theologian. That’s y using different translations can b quite beneficial. The Septuagint is great as well to help w/ understanding. Scripture was originally written in Hebrew Aramaic and Greek. Written not TO us but FOR us. It was written TO the 1st and 2nd temple ppl. If ppl could truly under this they would read the Bible in the true context in which it was written. It did for me.. Dr. Michael Heiser taught me so much on this!!! RIP Heiser( passed in 2023) TIM Mackie great teacher of the context of scripture ( Hebrew , Greek) SO MUCH GETS LOST IN THE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS! Blessings to all
I studied my KJV along with Farmer/teacher Les Feldick. He has passed now but bar none he was the best teacher out there. It took 3 yrs to go thru my KJV Bible, the man goes in depth. But of course I have several other translations plus 2 5 book commentaries and a complete set of John McAurthurs Bible Commentary. I check facts 2-3 different times. People read your Bible, God is trying to tell you things.
Me too. Les, was my first true Bible teacher who made studying the Bible fun . He taught me how to rightly divide the word of God. It's not confusing. My pastor turned me on to his lessons. God bless you, Brother.
I love the KJV but I have others that I will check when I’m not grasping to see if it makes sense . I still believe the entire Bible is for us but not all of it is to us .
If you don't pursue holiness and righteousness and run the race as though to win the prize, your mind, itself, will twist the Word of God to your own destruction. Possessing "the Mind of Christ" in actuality and as a continual goal is your only safeguard. Any other possible mindset will send you to Hell. The Father has put such a high value upon having 'the mind of Christ' that you are better off being moneyless, homeless and unable to find a true friend and yet in possession of a good Bible and a right mind that prioritizes the Kingdom of God: real righteousness, real peace and real joy. All else is wood, hay and stubble meant for the eternal fires of Hell. Enoch walked with God and he was no longer, because God Almighty took him. The testimony that he had was: "he continually pleased God". Enoch lived before an audience of One.
I have been using the Berean Bible translation lately. I have read several translations and often go to the interlinears to see what I may have missed as far as context. The best translation is the one you will read, but don't rely on any single translation by itself. Parallel bibles are also a good choice because you can see them side by side.
the Berean Standard translation (not Berean Literal) includes the word "size" in Matthew 17:20, thus changing the meaning of God's Word. Sadly, 99% of people completely misunderstand that scripture and fail to understand why their faith can't do anything.
ESV, NLT, and AMP are my go-to translations with ESV being this years choice. My wife and I just had a discussion about this last night, and to see this today is a blessing, Pastor Mark. Bless you, Brother!
Yes, the ESV study Bible has a slant towards Calvanism, but it doesn't much show in the text. It does show complimentarianism. That's only in a couple of spots. I corrected mine. It is my main study version because it leans in the Word-for-Word direction, applies Critical text, has wording that reflects KJV, and is a good scholarly work. For devotional reading I like to use the CSB. It has a fantastic reading to it! But it would not be my primary study choice. I compare ESV-NKJV-NIV for my text comparisons. ESV and NIV are older critical text and NKJV is TR medieval.
@@Corinthians-kjv AMP actually has way more words than KJV, but it's commentary hidden within the text. The ESV and NLT are based on the older Critical texts, including Dead Sea scrolls (some of which date to 150's BC. The KJV is based on 6 Greek texts and Masoretic text in which none are older than 1040 AD. The TR texts INCLUDE scribal notes. Even Erasmus added his own to these old documents! So, if anything, the KJV is adding text, not the ESV or NLT taking away. Also, note that ESV is a formal equivalent like KJV and NLT is a dynamic (thought for thought) equivalent.
People that say the KJV is too hard to understand are forgetting that the bible is not meant to be simply read. It's meant to be studied. The NIV is one of the most flawed books, and is a book meant to be a one-world religion book. This evil book has infiltrated churches and taken over. Do your research on the differences between KJV and NIV and you'll see how much the NIV references are removed, how many meanings are changed, and the fact that it does not condemn homosexuality.
You have to be able to read and understand it before you can study it. In many parts of the country, high school students can graduate with barely a third grade reading level. You tell those young people they can only read the Bible in Old English, they will just walk away from the faith.
This is great! I overheard a customer and a coworker talking about there being too many different translations of the Bible and that's reason for them to not trust it. This gives me some taking points for next time.
Great insight. I also got saved reading the NIV (1984), and still read it daily, but don't care much for the 2011 revision. I like the NKJV. The NASB seems wordy and sometimes convoluted, perhaps because it is a transliteration. I will occasionally refer to it, though, as well as the Amplified. Thanks for this video and all you do to further sound biblical teaching.
Be careful of any Bible that favors the “Alexandrian text” manuscripts. This manuscript is “the oldest” but matches less than 5% of all manuscripts(it matches the Latin vulgate of the Catholic Church, and they are the reason this manuscript gets a lot of support) The “received text” makes up 95% of all New Testament manuscripts. Bibles based on the Alexandrian text are missing 30,000 words!! Let me show you just how important this is to salvation….. when reading the verses regarding the mark of the beast, you will notice God tells you HOW TO AVOID THE MARK in the received text bibles(like the kjv and NKJV). These verses on how to avoid the mark are MISSING in the NIV!!!!! It is no wonder pastors today who favor the NIV don’t know what the mark is….
@@vashmatrix5769 because in some ways it’s more faithful to the original language than the newer versions. The translators didn’t use 1600’s English, they dipped into 1300’s English as some of the words were a better translation. They actually had to resurrect words that were no longer in use.
Consider a formal equivalence translation, ( word for word ) plus your bookshelf should have a Strongs exhaustive concordance and don't be shy about using it.
My son is a translator of languages and so this is the truth about why so many versions are different. The translation is done by guess work of construction of the language by the author. Many times when we see something you can get different versions of what was seen at the same place and time by different people. So using a multitude of different versions and concordances will change the perception of what you are reading. Context is very important when reading as well so don’t limit your knowledge by staying on one version use all the tools in your toolbox. There are Bible apps that are very useful and they have many versions available for us to use. Gods word is alive and it will bring life and light to those who seek His Kingdom above all else. Matthew 6:33.
Don’t read the NIV. It is actually printed by the same company that prints the satanic version. Also, in one verse, it calls God tolerant, whereas the King James Bible says: long-suffering.
🪭THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the Salvation of the last day that Christ brought in the second and last incarnation of His new and holy name" (Because the Lord Jesus incarnate did the work of the Age of Grace, for 2,000 years, all of Christianity referred the one true God as the "trinity." Therefore, the religious identifies, the one true God as the trinity, separate Him, throughout time. The world of religion cherishes strictly to it and refuses to change at all times. Now, the Almighty God of the last days has come to do the work of judgment, revealing all the means that save humanity. He completely dispute the greatest error of Christianity---the trinity. If God didn't expose this lie directly, we would not discover the foolishness within the idea of the trinity. Almighty God says, "if any one of you says that the trinity really exists, then explain what exactly this one God in three persons is? What is the Holy Father? What is the Son? What is the Holy One? Spirit? Is Jehovah the Holy Father? Is Jesus the Son? So what about the Holy Spirit? 'There is only One God, only One person in this God, and only One Spirit of God, as it is written in the Bible that there is only One Holy Spirit and only One God.' In simple words, God is the Spirit, but He can be flesh and live with people, as well as above all things. His Spirit is all and everywhere. He can be in the flesh and above the universe at the same time. Don't you know Jesus was born through the conception of the Holy Spirit? Inside Him is the Holy Spirit; no matter what you say, He is still God in heaven, because He is the incarnation of God Spirit. This idea of a child is simply not true.) Almighty God said Because the LORD JESUS INCARNATE did the WORK of the AGE of GRACE, for 2,000 YEARS, ALL of CHRISTIANITY REFERRED to the ONE TRUE GOD as the "Trinity." Because the BIBLE MENTIONS the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT, they PROMOTE that GOD must be a TRINITY. ☀️ There was some debate, but most people stuck to the idea of the Trinity without any change. Some people say "Trinity," and others say "Three in One," which are essentially the same, and mean the same thing. Whether we say "Trinity" or "Three in One," it says that God is made up of three parts, They are not the one God. Only when they are together can they become one true God. It's just a ridiculous thing to say. Can you really say that Jehovah God is not the only true God? Or is the Lord Jesus not the only true God? Is NOT the HOLY SPIRIT the ONE TRUE GOD? 🙏 Is NOT this CONCEPT of the TRINITY a REJECTION and DESTRUCTION of the ONE TRUE GOD? Isn't the one true God being carved up and blasphemed? We can see how crazy this idea of the Trinity is. THEREFORE, the RELIGIOUS WORLD IDENTIFIES the ONE TRUE GOD as the TRINITY, SEPARATE Him THROUGHOUT TIME. It is very painful for God. 😢 The WORLD of RELIGION CHERISHES STRICTLY to it and REFUSES to change at ALL TIMES. NOW, the ALMIGHTY GOD of the LAST DAYS has COME to DO the WORK of JUDGMENT, REVEALING ALL the MEANS that SAVE HUMANITY. He COMPLETELY DISPUTE the GREATEST ERROR of CHRISTIANITY---the TRINITY. 🙏 It OPENED our EYES and we PRAISED CHRIST from our HEARTS as the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE, and PRAISED. WISDOM and MIGHTY in ALL GOD. 🙏 If GOD DIDN'T EXPOSE this LIE DIRECTLY, we WOULD NOT DISCOVER the FOOLISHNESS WITHIN the IDEA of the TRINITY. ☀️ Let's take a closer look at this by reading some of God's words. ALMIGHTY GOD says, "If ANY ONE of YOU SAYS that the TRINITY REALLY EXISTS, then EXPLAIN what EXACTLY this ONE GOD in THREE PERSONS is.. WHAT is the HOLY FATHER? What is the Son? What is the Holy One?" Spirit? ☀️ Is JEHOVAH the HOLY FATHER? Is JESUS the SON? So WHAT ABOUT the HOLY SPIRIT? Isn't the WORK of JESUS the WORK of the HOLY SPIRIT? ISN'T JEHOVAH'S WORK DONE by a SPIRIT SIMILAR to JESUS's? How many Spirits can God have? According to your explanation, the three persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one; So, then, there are three Spirits, but the existence of three Spirits means that there are three Gods. That is, there is no one true God; how can this kind of God still have the natural essence of God? ☀️ If you accept that there is only one God, then how can He have a son and be a father? Aren't these all just your notions? 'THERE is ONLY ONE GOD, ONLY ONE PERSON in this GOD, and ONLY ONE SPIRIT of GOD, as it is WRITTEN in the BIBLE that there is ONLY ONE HOLY SPIRIT and ONLY ONE GOD.' 🙏 Regardless of when the Father and the Son you say existed, there is only one God after all, and the spirit of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit that you believe in is the spirit of the Holy Spirit. In SIMPLE WORDS, GOD is the SPIRIT, BUT He can be FLESH and LIVE with PEOPLE, as WELL as ABOVE ALL THINGS. His SPIRIT is ALL and EVERYWHERE. He CAN be in the FLESH and ABOVE the UNIVERSE at the SAME TIME. 🙏 everyone says that God is the only true God, then there is only one God, who is not divided by anyone! He became three persons, each with a status and a Spirit; then how can He still be a Spirit and a God? Tell Me, was heaven and earth, and all things created by the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit? say that They created it all together. Then who redeemed mankind? Is it the Holy Spirit, the Son, or the Father? Some say that the Son redeemed mankind. So who is the Son essentially? Is He NOT the INCARNATION of GOD'S SPIRIT? The incarnation calls God in heaven by the name of the Father from the perspective of a created man. DON'T YOU KNOW JESUS was BORN THROUGH the CONCEPTION of the HOLY SPIRIT? ☀️ INSIDE Him is the HOLY SPIRIT; no matter what you say, He is STILL GOD in HEAVEN, BECAUSE He is the INCARNATION of GOD'S SPIRIT. ☀️ This IDEA of a CHILD is SIMPLY NOT TRUE. 😪 It is a Spirit that does all the work; only God Himself, that is, the Spirit of God does His work. Who is the Spirit of God? ☀️ Is NOT the HOLY SPIRIT? ISN'T the HOLY SPIRIT WORKING in JESUS? If the work is not performed by the Holy Spirit (that is, the Spirit of God), then can His work represent God Himself?" 🙏 From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh" Fulfilled in " (John 1:1). (Ezekiel 2:9-10). (Rev. 19:13). 📩 All who have "ears to listen" are led to what the Spirit of God is saying in His lowered and built kingdom/Church engraved with His new name, His totality, the ownership of this disposition, "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD "💐 fulfillment from what was said He to Peter 2,000 years ago recorded in (Matthew 16:18-19). I prefer KJV. However, I have found that using Strong's Exhaustive Concordance helps tremendously. It allows you to know and understand the word in original language, and sometimes affords a new perspective on passages.
One huge problem with having all these versions (not sure I can call them all translations) is that people now seem to want to scroll through the various ones at bible hub, etc., and pick the one they want to hear in that given moment in time for that particular scripture... even if it has lost its original intent and meaning along the way. I don't think people guard against that sortbof thing enough.
I was gifted a KJV several years ago. When I had money to really buy some good Biblical resources, I bought a '95 NASB Reference Edition, a NASB Strong's (Strongest) Concordance, and an Interlinear Bible that had the original Hebrew/Aramaic and Greek along with an English transliteration to the side. I spent 140 bucks total I think. Great resources to use.
CSB is my favorite right now. They use what is called Optimal equivalence. It is in the middle between word for word and thought for thought. Reads great while being accurate as possible.
I’m a KJV man but unlike some kjv-only people, I read the NKJV since it’s based off of the exact same source materials (majority text)… all the other translations go off codex Vaticanus and codex Sinaiticus which were unearthed more recently and supposedly dated earlier than majority text, but I just refuse to believe that God allowed His word to be passed down inaccurately for 1800 years with the majority text until modern archaeology came in and saved the day🤷♂️
@@DiscipleDown so sir, certainly don’t read the NKJV, the common alibi for using the NKJV is that it updates certain difficult words used in the King James Bible, but they change more than that.
@@chaddonal4331 You can't tell me it has steered me wrong when you don't know how my life has gone. And of course; I don't need to be "aware" of problems that aren't there. Thank you for an insightful video that accurately portrays the issues of misplaced gramma in the bible. I have quietly been teaching the bible now for 53 years. One such area, is the so called promise that Jesus was supposed to have made to one of the robbers at his crucifixion. Where do you put the comma? Some bibles say Most truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise. Others, say Most truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise. Putting the comma after the word today changes the chronology of the meaning. Did the robber go to paradise on that very same day? Well,. he can't have, why? According to Jon 20:17 Jesus, three days later admitted to Mary, in the garden of his tomb, that he hadn't yet been to his father in heaven, so how could he have seen the robber there? Act 2:34 Yet people believe it to be true. So, what is the bible definition of paradise? Mat 6:10 shows that it is earthly, though ruled from Heaven. Dan 2:44 also shows that God's Kingdom has a earthly dimension. For me, Psalm 37:10-11; 29; confirms it
The late Theodore Letis (1951-2005) said, "“The English should conform to every detail of the inspired Hebrew and Greek. When the Authorized version uses Thee’s and Thou’s…. it’s for a purpose, for a reason, not to be quaint, and that reason is that technically it’s only the Elizabethan form of English that can communicate the details of the inspired Greek and Hebrew with regard to the second person singular and plural forms. It’s what experts refer to as Biblical English, not conversational English, it’s an English that can conform to every detail of the inspired Hebrew and Greek in its form, and we get that in the Authorized Version and it’s just as though you are reading the Greek because the Greek has a different form for plural and singular.” The King James Bible has over 775,000 words and only 0.23% of those words are considered archaic.
There is no such thing as Biblical English. There are words in the Greek & Hebrew manuscripts that cannot retranslated into any for of English 'word-for-word'. The KJV, while a valuable tool does not translate the original languages any more accurately than some of the newer translations. If you will actually study this issue you will find even the King James translators addressed this in the original Preamble when they said "Therfore as S. Augustine saith, that varietie of Translations is profitable for the finding out of the sense of the Scriptures: so diversitie of signification and sense in the margine, where the text is not so cleare, must needes doe good, yea is necessary, as we are perswaded." They revised their own work numerous times and realized that new discoveries might result in more accurate translations in the future. It is clear from their own words they did not hold their work to be the 'be all/end all' when it came to translating the Bible into English.
@@mfleming3911 ‘There is no such thing as Biblical English. There are words in the Greek & Hebrew manuscripts that cannot retranslated into any for of English 'word-for-word. Letis: Is the King James Bible too hard to read?” Furthermore, Adam Nicolson, the well-known English author stated, “And so the English of the King James Bible is certainly not the English that was spoken or written in the first decade of the 17th century, it is actually not a form of English that was ever spoken anywhere or written, but it is actually an English pulled towards the condition of the Greek and the Hebrew. It is more like a kind of middle-ground if you think of a translation as having a source and a target, the source in Hebrew and Greek, the target in English. The King James Bible is in the middle here in that the English is pulled over to the source of the Hebrew and the Greek. Thus the forms of the sentences of the grammar, the incredible repetitiveness for example of the Hebrew of the Old Testament, is English as Hebrew, and the sort of language that God speaks in, a deliberately strange and unique language that takes us to a place where people would not naturally feel that was the sort of language which you or I might use to each other.” ‘If you will actually study this issue….’ I actually have studied this issue for over 40 years now and wrote a 455-page book on it and have debated it online. You can find the title at kjvdebate on the web. ‘the King James translators addressed this in the original Preamble when they said "Therfore as S. Augustine saith, that varietie of Translations is profitable for the finding out of the sense of the Scriptures: so diversitie of signification and sense in the margine, where the text is not so cleare, must needes doe good, yea is necessary, as we are perswaded."’ I agree and that was proper for that time of which a final settled text was being determined during the reformation. That providential time of determining a settled text has come and gone. The next reformation, or ‘restoration’ of all things (Acts 3:19-21: KJV) will occur with an already settled text and a final authority in place. The KJV translators also said, ““But it is high time…… that we should need to make a new Translation, nor yet to make of a bad one a good one…. but to make a good one better, or out of many good ones, one principal good one.” The KJV translators were clearly saying that even the prior English versions were ‘good’ versions, and out of these ‘many good ones,’ they were to translate “ONE PRINCIPLE GOOD ONE!” ‘They revised their own work numerous times and realized that new discoveries might result in more accurate translations in the future.’ I believe that time has come and gone not to mention that most modern scholars are off 2000 miles geographically searching for Egyptian manuscripts rather than in reformation locales as Beza did. ‘It is clear from their own words they did not hold their work to be the 'be all/end all' when it came to translating the Bible into English.’ I think the KJV translators applying Isaiah 8:20 right after John 5:39 on page 2 of their intro when they said ““what [or which] word of God (whereof we may be sure) without the scripture” tells us they came to their ‘one principal good one’ they were searching for. Blessings and thanks for the civil dialogue.
This is why the church is so divided . We want to bash our brothers and sisters instead of loving them praying for them. We all think our denominations ,versions of the Bible.our Sunday schools. Our mission programs are the right ones. A house divided cannot stand! The enemy loves when he can infiltrate the church so that there’s bickering amongst the Saints. Let’s pray for one another, and let the Holy Spirit do the changing for it’s by his spirit that all things will be made perfect. Believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God he came to earth to live and to die for our sins that whoever believe in him would not perish, but have everlasting life. He arose again on the third day and he sits on the right hand of God interceding for us daily. I love you my brothers and sisters in Christ! VICTORS IN CHRIST ✝️
Yeah, I was born and raised in a KJV only church system. I actually heard one pastor say from the pulpit "and people reading the NIV, (etc) and all that junk!" Years later I realized how that only works if you grow up or have only been exposed to that sort of teaching. Suppose someone who was never exposed to that teaching, say, came to know the Lord reading a NASB or something else, how did that happen, if all other versions other than a KJV are junk? Serious bible readers need to do their research because yes, some translations are more problematic than others. But when we suggest there's only one that is decent (and almost always that's the KJV), we're doing the body of Christ a disservice.
Excellent points. The root of the problem is that human beings read and interpret based on their own personalities. By and large, we get what we are seeking from the word. Different personality types gravitate toward versions that "speak" to their individual, unique personality. This also explains the differences in Gods that Christian worship. We tend to worship a God that more or less represents our own (idealized) morals and values. We can see the evidence of this in the fact that rarely -if ever, does a believer worship a God with whom they disagree. However, it isn't uncommon for a believer to disagree with the God that another person believes in (or rather they disagree with the other person's interpretation or understanding of God. It's a fascinating phenomenon.
Amen! Thanks for saying what I was thinking. From a missionary in Haiti. We understand who the enemy is...and it is not a Christian who reads a different translation of the Bible!
It’s so important in these times to remain humble and teachable, the need to “become as children” before GOD and not be know it all experts without “the fruits” that reveal the Power of the Gospel. JESUS said “if anyone wants to do HIS will then he will know the doctrine if it be of God..” John 7:17.. HE promised in the last days to teach the humble HIS ways, and show them HIS salvation-Ps.25:9; Ps.50:23 We cannot exalt any Bible translation above the ONE who made it A PROMISE to all who choose to believe.
@ I agree.. “for all men seek their own and not the things that be of JESUS CHRIST.” Philippians 2:21 thank GOD in the midst of this confusion HE knows all hearts. Revelation 2:23 “then all the churches will know that I AM HE who searches the hearts and minds and I will give to each one of you according to your works.” Bless you brother for continuing in the faith to be an example to us younger ones

Not exactly. The KJV you hold in your hands today is not the same Bible as the one published in 1611. For example, the 1611 KJV contained the Apocrypha.
@@michaelhotard1557 Maybe & maybe not. Maybe it was taken out for good reason. I'll still believe it is the Word of God. Regardless what you or anybody else say.
@@roberttaylor9825 I am not saying the KVJ is not a good transition, or it is not the Word God. It is both. What I am saying is I there have been some changes between the KJV you now possess and the one published in 1611.
Yes, the original KJV has been edited thousands of time. Even in its original version it mentions in its introduction that it was not intended to be a perfect or authoritative translation. I grew up on the KJV and it’s a good translation that the Lord has used but it’s not a perfect translation. In many ways the language used is antiquated or out dated. There are more accurate and more readable translations today. One in particular is the NASB which I find generally to follow the original Greek most consistently. Hope this helps some. God bless
Overall a pretty helpful clip for understanding the differences in translations and how they each provide help. There's definitely a lot more going regarding 'errors', though, than just spelling errors and punctuation problems. You have clear additions and omissions to the text by transcribers and some of them make a big impact. Like the story of the woman caught in adultery where Jesus tells her to go and sin no more. That is a later addition that isn't in any early version. It is also important to note that in talking about having thousands of manuscripts people shouldn't think that means a manuscript is an entire gospel or letter of the new testament. A single manuscript may quite literally be a fragment of parchment with only 2 verses on it. A single book of the bible may involve hundreds of manuscripts pieced together to get what we have now. It is an interesting thing to learn about. When all is said and done, the role and value of the Holy Spirit in the interpretation and application process is monumental. The Bible isn't perfect on its own but thank God for the Holy Spirit to steer and guide.
The Bible is Not Boring- if You think so then You just dont Understand the Story ask God for Understanding 🎉🎉🎉 The King James is the closest thing We have to the Torah ❤❤❤
This video is not what I thought it might be based on the title. Good job! A few different translations referenced to one another can be very beneficial.

Pastor Driscoll, I highly recommend the book "God's Secretaries" written by an non-religious individual who did exhaustive research concerning the King James translation. The undertaking of that project was so meticulous and scientific it established English as we know it, provided all the scientific rules of logic, and is the foundation of modern business and legal framework. It is the only translation that has ever been produced with its degree of authenticity. Worth the read, and will definitely impact your view on translations.
1599 Geneva was the first english tranlation and was banned by king james Ephesians 6 12 might be one of the biggest reasons "For we wrestle not against flesh and [t]blood, but against [u]principalities, against powers, and against the worldly governors, the princes of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness, which are in the high places.'"
I agree w "Owenhill" pick one out and live it . For by our love for each other we "show the world " we are His ! The world gets a laugh out of most Christians who don't get along because they get trivial over non trivial issues !
Jesus stresses 2 commandments of loving our neighbor and loving God. But few let the bible define how to do this. The bible says how to love God, and that is by keeping his commandments.
keeping the commandments has nothing to do with salvation. How perfectly do you have to do this? If you commit one sin that is enough to send you to hell. Jesus saves because He did in fact "Keep" the commandments---all the commandments.
Jesus said, "The foremost commandment is, " Hear, O Israel! The LORD our God is one; and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." Mark 12:28-30 (Deut 6:4-6)

What about the Septuagint, the Vulgate, the Wycliffe Bible, the Tyndale Bible, the Luther Bible, the Geneva Bible, the American Standard Version, to name a few that were produced before WW2? What about the non-English speaking world?
The Right translation is the one you can understand and is at reading level that will keep you in the word. Did you actually research all of this or was it another one of your copy and paste jobs??
1. No
2. Mark will never pay attention to this chat because he doesn’t care
Ohhh yess...Just imagine how AMAZING the world would be if we "lived out" modern renditions of Deuteronomy 22:28!
*Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NIV*
“If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and *rapes her* and they are discovered, *he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.”*
Why would I ever dare to argue about bible versions? It's so "arrogant" and "divisive" of me to believe KJV is the One True English Bible!
It matters for theology and faith
@@owenhill-vf7koYour comments ring of hypocrisy. Why are you spreading hate, brother?

God is the Holy Spirit. Jesus is His human son. John 8.40, John 17.3, John 20.17, Rev 1.5-6, Rev 3.12.
@@MichaelTheophilus906 God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, God the Son - they are the triune GOD. Jesus is God in the flesh - not just a human son.
I read several translations. My favorite is the NKJV but I like to compare passages to other translations to get a different feel.
My favorite too. I was raised on the revised standard version but find the NKJV more to my liking and more "biblical" if that makes any sense.
Same. I like comparing and contrasting the different translations, to get the full picture.
I go with a mix of KJV, NKJV and NIV
@@Olemann4444 It's why I like comparing and contrasting different bibles. The Geneva Bible (written BEFORE the KJV bible) is an interesting comparison (especially with its footnotes, like an old school "study bible").
My favorite English translation is the NKJV as well. I find it to be both poetic while the old english words are left out. It is not that I dislike the old english but I prefer not having it
This makes me think of the old lady who said, "If the KJV was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me."
Yup......just gotta luv em 😊
Jesus did not hava a King James bible. King James was born in 1566. Jesus was born between 4 and 6 BC. There were manuscripts of the books of the Old Testament, but there was no version of the bible in circulation. The first gospel was written in 70 A.D...respectfully.
Yep! How about this one: "The bible was written in Latin". Then I have to explain the Vulgate.
If it was good enough for Spurgeon, it’s good enough for me…
@@aquariuscox3682 I dont know if they were trying to be funny or not. but you are correct, the KJV did not exist when Jesus walked the earth. Most scholars agree that James or Matthew was the first of the new testament about 40 AD.
Read it with an open heart and mind and let God reveal to you what He wants you to know.
@@oxidize99modern translators have far far far more material to work from.
@@vigilantezack lol! the only way you could have more material that the original is to make some stuff up. you can't be serious!
I read and preach from the KJV.
It's stood the test of time and God has always blessed its preaching.
How exactly has God blessed its preaching?
Amen.
I use many, LSB IS ONE of MY favorite
I like the NKJV, KJV, LSB, YLT, LTV and the Rothman's Emphesised Bible
That makes you the authority, not God!
The Books of the Machabees and James are not open for discussion?
Pray about the message... It perverts the Lords Prayer.
Most important thing is to have a relationship with Jesus because the Holy spirit reveals ALL truth not some truth.
Well said - Pastor Mark's talk of "spelling and punctuation" sounds great but is not factual. I was thinking of writing the same comment.

I read the New Living Translation and the King James! I also love digging around in the Apocrypha.
Watch that Apocrypha, it can be deceptive, as there is a reason our Fathers kept much of it out. The only one I read is Enoch. But only the "first book of Enoch", as the other's were considered uninspired! We know it was an inspired book, as Jesus brother, Jude, mentions a quote from (the first book); "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." Jude 14,15.
I often criticize Mark Driscoll for his "prophetic" rantings, but this video on the different Bible translations is solid. Good job.
It's a bit disingenuous and he's still pushing this idea that he's the sole arbiter of trustworthiness, despite being kicked out of his last church for financial irregularities and bullying

Ive read the apocrypha too. It answers a lot of questions.
Do you know why it’s not in our Bible?
I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2; which is referencing(possibly/probably):
Enoch 41 "2. And there I saw the mansions of the elect and the mansions of the holy, and mine eyes saw there all the sinners being driven from thence which deny the name of the Lord of Spirits, and being dragged off: and they could not abide because of the punishment which proceeds from the Lord of Spirits."
This is the only time that mansions(from what I've heard, I do want to study this more) are spoken of and I think it's worth looking into; the people in Jesus time would have had access to the book of Enoch and most people in the religious community probably heard this along with all the other books of the OT. Jesus spoke of the mansions and said if it wasn't true, I would tell you. I find that very interesting. I don't consider the book of Enoch as inspired Word, but more like a history book that everyone in the Jewish community probably knew back then.
It's also worth noting that fragments of the book of Enoch were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls:
The Book of Watchers (1 Enoch 1-36): This section describes the fall of the Watchers, angels who fathered the Nephilim, and their punishment.
Thank

English is not my first language so I do prefer the NKJV. I am aware of the subtle changes from the KJV but these are not enough to change the message. Jesus is clearly shown as God and Lord of all. No
No, it's click bait to get you to watch several videos. I'll pass.
Here's how to know if you have a good translation: go to Ephesians 3:9. If the verse ends with "Jesus Christ" then your translation is good. If it doesn't, then you need to toss that bible into the trash and pick up a bible that has the correct verse with nothing removed. And then ask yourself why modern bible translators would remove the name of Jesus Christ from that verse (like the ESV, NIV and many other trash translations do)
that would make it the King James Bible and the NKJB. The NKJB has its problems too
🤡, Older transcripts are more accurate.....
Word-for-word is not a measure of accuracy. It is a style. So a sentence in one language might be "I walked to the store" and the word-for-word would end up "to the store, walked I", whereas a thought-for-thought will capture the intent, but not the specific words and grammar.
Ok yoda.

Trying to understand Roman's in the KJV IS EXTREMELY frustrating. The NLT made it understandable.

I use the ESV. I won’t accept the CEB though. That’s not a Bible.
A lot of people like the ESV and NLT. I am looking for a CSB Bible since there are good reviews.
Why did they remove scriptures Tyler?
Great video !!
The NIV also loosely translates Luke 18:12 and 1 Corinthians 16:2 as relating directly to income which makes absolutely no sense.
You have to be able to read and understand it before you can study it. In many parts of the country, high school students can graduate with barely a third grade reading level. You tell those young people they can only read the Bible in Old English, they will just walk away from the faith.

The Living Bible is one of my pet peeves. It paraphrases 2-3 verses into one.
This manuscript is “the oldest” but matches less than 5% of all manuscripts(it matches the Latin vulgate of the Catholic Church, and they are the reason this manuscript gets a lot of support)
The “received text” makes up 95% of all New Testament manuscripts.
Truth In Genesis - Why use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible
@@vashmatrix5769 because in some ways it’s more faithful to the original language than the newer versions. The translators didn’t use 1600’s English, they dipped into 1300’s English as some of the words were a better translation. They actually had to resurrect words that were no longer in use.

🪭THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the Salvation of the last day that Christ brought in the second and last incarnation of His new and holy name"
(Because the Lord Jesus incarnate did the work of the Age of Grace, for 2,000 years, all of Christianity referred the one true God as the "trinity." Therefore, the religious identifies, the one true God as the trinity, separate Him, throughout time. This idea of a child is simply not true.)
Almighty God said
Because the LORD JESUS INCARNATE did the WORK of the AGE of GRACE, for 2,000 YEARS, ALL of CHRISTIANITY REFERRED to the ONE TRUE GOD as the "Trinity." Because the BIBLE MENTIONS the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT, they PROMOTE that GOD must be a TRINITY. ☀️
There was some debate, but most people stuck to the idea of the Trinity without any change.
Is NOT this CONCEPT of the TRINITY a REJECTION and DESTRUCTION of the ONE TRUE GOD? Isn't the one true God being carved up and blasphemed? We can see how crazy this idea of the Trinity is. THEREFORE, the RELIGIOUS WORLD IDENTIFIES the ONE TRUE GOD as the TRINITY, SEPARATE Him THROUGHOUT TIME.
It is very painful for God. 😢
It OPENED our EYES and we PRAISED CHRIST from our HEARTS as the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE, and PRAISED. WISDOM and MIGHTY in ALL GOD. 🙏
If GOD DIDN'T EXPOSE this LIE DIRECTLY, we WOULD NOT DISCOVER the FOOLISHNESS WITHIN the IDEA of the TRINITY. ☀️
Let's take a closer look at this by reading some of God's words.
Is JEHOVAH the HOLY FATHER? Is JESUS the SON?
So WHAT ABOUT the HOLY SPIRIT?
Isn't the WORK of JESUS the WORK of the HOLY SPIRIT?
ISN'T JEHOVAH'S WORK DONE by a SPIRIT SIMILAR to JESUS's? How many Spirits can God have?
According to your explanation, the three persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one; So, then, there are three Spirits, but the existence of three Spirits means that there are three Gods. That is, there is no one true God; how can this kind of God still have the natural essence of God? ☀️
If you accept that there is only one God, then how can He have a son and be a father? Aren't these all just your notions? 'THERE is ONLY ONE GOD, ONLY ONE PERSON in this GOD, and ONLY ONE SPIRIT of GOD, as it is WRITTEN in the BIBLE that there is ONLY ONE HOLY SPIRIT and ONLY ONE GOD.' 🙏
Regardless of when the Father and the Son you say existed, there is only one God after all, and the spirit of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit that you believe in is the spirit of the Holy Spirit.
everyone says that God is the only true God, then there is only one God, who is not divided by anyone!
INSIDE Him is the HOLY SPIRIT; no matter what you say, He is STILL GOD in HEAVEN, BECAUSE He is the INCARNATION of GOD'S SPIRIT. ☀️
This IDEA of a CHILD is SIMPLY NOT TRUE. 😪
It is a Spirit that does all the work; only God Himself, that is, the Spirit of God does His work. Who is the Spirit of God? ☀️
Is NOT the HOLY SPIRIT? ISN'T the HOLY SPIRIT WORKING in JESUS? If the work is not performed by the Holy Spirit (that is, the Spirit of God), then can His work represent God Himself?" 🙏

Act 2:34
Yet people believe it to be true.

Augustine saith, that varietie of Translations is profitable for the finding out of the sense of the Scriptures: so diversitie of signification and sense in the margine, where the text is not so cleare, must needes doe good, yea is necessary, as we are perswaded."

I would encourage you to listen to Theodore Letis’ interview on this as he addresses your statement in detail which can be viewed on my page under ‘Theodore P. Letis: Is the King James Bible too hard to read?”
Furthermore, Adam Nicolson, the well-known English author stated, “And so the English of the King James Bible is certainly not the English that was spoken or written in the first decade of the 17th century, it is actually not a form of English that was ever spoken anywhere or written, but it is actually an English pulled towards the condition of the Greek and the Hebrew. It is more like a kind of middle-ground if you think of a translation as having a source and a target, the source in Hebrew and Greek, the target in English. The King James Bible is in the middle here in that the English is pulled over to the source of the Hebrew and the Greek. Thus the forms of the sentences of the grammar, the incredible repetitiveness for example of the Hebrew of the Old Testament, is English as Hebrew, and the sort of language that God speaks in, a deliberately strange and unique language that takes us to a place where people would not naturally feel that was the sort of language which you or I might use to each other.”
‘If you will actually study this issue….’
I actually have studied this issue for over 40 years now and wrote a 455-page book on it and have debated it online. You can find the title at kjvdebate on the web.

I agree and that was proper for that time of which a final settled text was being determined during the reformation. That providential time of determining a settled text has come and gone. The next reformation, or ‘restoration’ of all things (Acts 3:19-21: KJV) will occur with an already settled text and a final authority in place. The KJV translators also said, ““But it is high time…… that we should need to make a new Translation, nor yet to make of a bad one a good one…. but to make a good one better, or out of many good ones, one principal good one.” The KJV translators were clearly saying that even the prior English versions were ‘good’ versions, and out of these ‘many good ones,’ they were to translate “ONE PRINCIPLE GOOD ONE!”
‘They revised their own work numerous times and realized that new discoveries might result in more accurate translations in the future.’
I believe that time has come and gone not to mention that most modern scholars are off 2000 miles geographically searching for Egyptian manuscripts rather than in reformation locales as Beza did.
‘It is clear from their own words they did not hold their work to be the 'be all/end all' when it came to translating the Bible into English.’
I think the KJV translators applying Isaiah 8:20 right after John 5:39 on page 2 of their intro when they said ““what [or which] word of God (whereof we may be sure) without the scripture” tells us they came to their ‘one principal good one’ they were searching for.
I actually heard one pastor say from the pulpit "and people reading the NIV, (etc) and all that junk!"
Years later I realized how that only works if you grow up or have only been exposed to that sort of teaching.

It is the only translation that has ever been produced with its degree of authenticity. Worth the read, and will definitely impact your view on translations.

This is the first time for me with the KJV and I am loving it, it is beautiful. Prayerful godly men are working mightily to translate these Bibles. I say give them all a read. Just say no to translation tribalism.
So you must be a catholic as you are reading all their rubbish , start with the true version KJV
Confusion
People don’t read the Bible they got. Read what you got family
America started creating new translations....
After WW2, new translations were pushed. Then in the same era we started losing all our major conflicts...
The Word should not be tampered with, or altered by man's wisdom....
But, left to the Holy Spirit to use as He wishes.
What’s the most original version?
@@savannahjo5578the original Greek manuscripts I guess? Hard to get one’s hands on them though
That would be incredible to have that! In English though like the most accurate for me to read in English.
@@savannahjo5578 it would be amazing. I like to use the logos Bible app because it can translate entire portions and you can do word studies that help bring the translation as close tot he original Greek as possible. I like doing that / I find it doesn’t make a huge difference but sometimes adds a new dimension to the words.
I like the ESV. I did a bit of research and found that one is supposed to be a nice blend of keeping the poetic aspect while also striving to be literal.
But it’s up to you! I think I’ve also read from the NIV and that one seems good.
People will say oh it’s modern it’s been corrupted but another way of looking at it is that we have discovered so many more scrolls and manuscripts since the King James Version - so that’s something to take into account. That and I want to understand what I’m reading, king James, because of the style of English, is interesting but not the best for me as far as study and learning
Start on the word for word side of the spectrum and work your way backwards stopping where you can understand. Then as you grow you can work your way back up. My primary is ESV but i also study out of NKJV and CSB. I find CSB has been the easiest for me to read.
nasb 95 all the way
By far the best translation
That and the LSB@@musicgnome4206
The best Bible to read is the Bible you actually read but you should have a word for word translation when you do your Bible study.
