    I am a 70 year old male recently ,last 2 years began to walk with the WORD. I always cross reference what people espouse about or they claim is scripture. Have been slowly learning that in my KJV1611 there are still slight off translations which I believe is in the understanding of the Hebrew grammar. So I am trying to get my head around hebrew. God bless all Emunah.

      Psalm 97:9 For thou, YHWH, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all ELOHIM.
      Genesis 1 is ELOHIM (Lucifer and the fallen angels).
      They made this realm.
      They made man in their image. (tares)
      Man is an idol, a trap to hunt angels.
      Genesis 2:7 the Lord God forms His representative in their system. (wheat)
      One Gospel:
      Gospel (GOOD ANGEL) of Reconciliation.
      Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom
      to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself.
      We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness.
      If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever.
      Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods).
      REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.

      I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints (nickname Mormon) and NO we do not believe ‘Jehovah and Elohim are two different people.’ (Your cousin is mistaken)
      Elohim is plural (Father/Son & Holy Spirit) and Jehovah (which pronounced name comes from YHWH: YeHoVaH )is one of the Elohim. Therefore Jehovah and the Elohim are the same. It is Hebrew that recognizes that Elohim is plural. And it was Yeshua/Jesus (as the Son) who acknowledged the Father (in the Lord’s Prayer) and the Holy Spirit in the Pentecost. They are 3 personages that are ONE. (Like 3 different flashlights shining their light on the same spot on the wall.)

    Magnificent job, thank you. I am studying the bible and im learning the hebrew alphabet, so this video really comes from “the skies”. Most Hebrew courses around are made by non-native speakers and their pronunciation is very deficient. For example they usually pronounce the Hebrew R exactly as the American R, which is very disappointing. They also miss the fact thar the aleph is actually a glottal stop in many cases. I hope you can make more emphasis in pronunciation in future videos, because it’s not easy to find the right pronunciation around and less in the biblical context. I also hope that you can mention more contrasts between the old vs. modern Hebrew. I find it quite instructive. Thank you very much.

    Even with translations - into Latin then several of the European languages finally into English of a number of different times (years) - the first verse of Genesis conveys the same basic message. Please forgive my rather casual translation; "The first thing, God the ultimate one' made the entire set up. All of it."
    As a Christian, I have no quibble with that.
    As a human - Christian - of the 20th Century (western calendar, not Hebrew) I have noted various translations in English (starting in the 16th Century) differ in places. This is mainly due to the change of meaning of words in English and not any problem translating the Hebrew. Too many folks cannot translate 17th Century English to current English.
    Good on you! Real information of any sort gives glory to the one. Keep it up!

    Some of the translation problems are the result of antiquated English. Long ago, "the heavens" referred to the sky, but "Heaven" (capital H) referred to the dwelling place of G-d. "The earth" or "earth" referred to the ground, specifically soil/dirt, but "Earth" (capital E) referred to the planet. This was truly fascinating. I can't wait to learn more. Very grateful to you for providing this!

    Plural for the name of God makes sense with the doctrine of the Trinity. Additionally, in older English, "the heavens" plural usually refers to the sky, vs heaven where God is. So the translation into English is remarkably quite good.
    Japanese also reads left to right, and has the words "wa" and "desu ka" that can feel like "et".
    Fascinating stuff!

    Hi Llan, Shalom 🙏
    I'm looking forward to watching your channel grow and participating in the learning modules as you present them.
    I'm currently studying /learning the Hebrew language and understand that there are many layers to work through.
    Having several transliterated versions as well as the JPS Hebrew-English TANAKH תנייך ; I'm keen to gain a more in depth understanding in this amazing language.
    As a note: I've picked up in my research (please don't ask me to recall where) that the use of את throughout scripture is to remind us that Yehoshua Ha Mashiach; being the א and the ת is the beginning and the end; "the first and the last". Isaiah 48:12
    "I AM the א and the ת" says the LORD. Revelation 1:8
    Please keep these highly informative studies coming, we all need to keep in mind; we are one flock with ONE Shepherd.
    God bless 🙏 💝

    This is extremely good. Your way of teaching is clear and methodical, easy to comprehend.
    It is also helpful to remember that the whole "creative" discussion in chapter 1 is written from the point of view of an observer(s) on earth (had they been there), and having no knowlege whatsoever of the processes involved. Thus an overview of what took place in simple terms rather than a scientific dissertation.

    Thank you so much for starting this channel, so that more people, me including, can learn the Hebrew language.
    Just a little side note, languages that are written from right to left also include Chinese, that’s how it’s used to be, and can still be written that way if one chooses to. But yes, since the world followed western standards, since 60 years ago, we mostly write from left right😅.

      @@TheBibleInHebrew I think the OP, in the final sentence, meant 'we' as in 'we Chinese' rather than 'we humans'.
      Btw, the word 'sky' can certainly be plural in English. It can be singular or plural, depending on the speaker. 'The skies are blue' is perfect English, as much or more than 'the sky is blue'.
      'In the beginning G-d created out of nothing the skies and the ground' is how I will think of Genesis 1:1 from now on! 😊

    Hi Ilan, I really enjoyed your video. One thing about “et;” Et isn’t useless; it identifies an object for the action of the verb. The reason it’s useful has to do with what you mentioned about the order of subject and verb in biblical Hebrew as well as the fact that biblical Hebrew didn’t break up sentences in the way that we are used to (this is true both in written and oral contexts). This flexibility of word order can be very poetic, but the object of the verb can become obscure. Et defines the object and allows it to be placed anywhere in the sentence - and still understood as the object. For example, you could take the first sentence of the Tanach and write it: Et haShamayim bara Elokeem beResheet v’et haretz - or other variations - and they could still be readily understood; this is not the case in a language like English. Not that this sounds better, but it is one of the great beauties of Hebrew that sentences can be constructed very flexibly for emphasis and poetic impact and the object is not mistaken for a verb.

    • @TheBibleInHebrew
      @TheBibleInHebrew  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment.
      There are some examples in the Bible where 'et' is useful to understand the meaning, but they are few and far between.
      In most cases, it can be dropped without any major impact on comprehension.
      Also note that in Genesis 1:1, which has normal syntax, there are two 'et', so it's double redundancy.

    • @scottmeyer4354
      @scottmeyer4354 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As I listened to the explanation of Et, it reminded me of o (wo) in Japanese which also identifies the object and allows flexible word order.
      Thanks for that great first lesson of the first of the Bible, and for the nice follow about Hebrew grammar from ericgoldstein4734.

    You can also refer to the sky as skies (more often in the daytime) or heavens (more often in the night) in English, and using plural verb firms, eg the skies were blue, the stars shone in the heavens.

    Thank you for this! My dad watched a video about the 1755 Bible which translates things literally without context. I sent him this video. He still believes the other person who says that the Hebrew the scrolls were written in wasn’t the ancient Hebrew that the people of that time spoke, so it’s incorrect.

    This was great! I like how you broke it down using simple words. I had a thought about אֵת (et); since it is spelled with the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, it could be translated as "all". Also, if the vowel chosen for B' is traditionally "Be", but with a change to the vowel it could be "Ba", meaning "when" (this coming from a Goya, who is definitely NOT a Hebrew scholar), making the opening "When God began". This would (to me) make the beginning sound more indefinite, indicating the external nature of God. So, I encourage you to continue through the Torah. I think you could make even B'midbar and Vayikra more interesting as "Etz Hayyim Torah and Commentary" did for me. I'm just a simple Christian trying to rediscover my Jewish roots.

    • @csurabdullayev1172
      @csurabdullayev1172 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I read your comments with interest. I am a Muslim male from Azerbaijan. Your thoughts about et is indeed reasonable. I was confused when I read 1-1 to Jews on TikTok, they said it is not "when God began to create" but "in the beginning" in a humiliating way. The issue is that I read it from US printed Torah in 1962 which is for sure was printed by approval of Jews Publication Society of the USA. The same book had footnote where I read to them "or in the beginning". Still they were not happy with that and blamed me that as if it is even not the Torah at all. Now, however, your explanation confirms one more time that the translation as "When God began to create" has the right to exist or me be the true translation. Because when we say "in the beginning God created" we may understand God was not there before He created. But when we say "When God began to create" we can clearly understand God was there before He started to create the Earth and Heaven. Now your interpretation about et as first and last letter of Hebrew then it might indeed can be understood as "all". Well I wrote this to your goodness because I found you as a good Gentlemen. Wa Aleykum salam.
