    Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been waking up for a little over a year and have listened to many stories about people being Disfellowshiped(im refusing to use thier new words) or Dissociated. Its very apparent that Elders do what ever is best for them,this can be very harmful or even life threatening if the person is in an abusive relationship or needs a blood transfusion. This cult is so good at making you feel bad for standing up and doing what is truly right. Thanks for having the courage to do so,and also showing us behind the curtain and what can really happen. Wish you well on the rest of your Journey and a happy life surrounded by people who will love you no matter what.

    I know this post isn’t about me but boy, can I relate to Caleb’s experiences.
    In my case (short version) I broke up an Elders meeting one night after the regular meeting and asked for help getting back on track as one of Jehovahs Witnesses.
    I mentioned some specific things like check up on me and offer to go out with me in the door to door work which I found very difficult.
    I received pats on the back and assurances that they were there to help. One Elder went so far as to say that he wished more Elders meetings were about someone reaching out for help.
    Fast forward about a year and I had received exactly zero help. Other than saying hi when I came to the meetings there were literally no attempts made to follow through. Not one.
    But because I had developed a non sexual relationship with a woman outside of my marriage, which I acknowledge is not a good thing (I’d have write a book to explain that part) what I did receive was a judicial meeting and subsequent disfellowshipping.
    My point simply being that the Emperor really doesn’t have any clothes when it comes to the retention part of Jehovah’s Witnesses as an organization.

  • @Eric_01
    @Eric_01 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

    When you said, "you'll never be able to explain your side," I immediately felt so happy that you have this platform in this day and age to defy what would typically have been the end of the story and you'd have never had a voice. Now, your challenge to corruption is public and widespread to the world. That's so great! There as SO many YT channels now that, together, you have constructed an army of informative voices.
    I do wonder if you're aware and watch other ex-JW content?

      I wish you knew how much I appreciate you and all others that felt that harsh treatment. It should be illegal how they are allowed to destroy a reputation. But then really it's is built into the cult to not to question or be destroyed too. Iam hurting so bad from my long retionship with what I thought were my friends the betrayal at 63 ..a widower now but In my 25 year of life I wanted to live Jesus and serve others with love ..I did so as did my wife . But when my wife went seeking help fir alcoholism she was given no love only harsh discipline. It's true she took up smoking but did quit all before she died as they put it" died without regaining God's favor" iam broken but in a million pieces but new friends and loving people have eneted my life with joys . I just don't know how to handle the past abuse and upcoming slander when they contact me as they did you. Where do broken abused people go ? At 63 and widowed with not one comforting word from the group I once poured myself into . ( one person secretly left a voice message stating perhaps Jah will have compadion on her) omg the pain ..

    • @Eric_01
      @Eric_01 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kevinhahn3286 First, you have to treat that relationship with the org as the death of an enemy. It happened, it will leave a scar, but nothing can be done but realize you were lied to and taken advantage of.
      Second, the state of your wife with any god upon her death could not possibly be determined or labeled by any group of people on the planet. That they claim she was without god's favor has absolutely no foundation and is pure bullsh!t.
      At this point, just keep educating yourself on the origins and authenticity of the bible, the concepts of gods and creators, and the number of failed prophecies. In short, the bible is nonsense and the proof is all around you, take it in. Jehovah is not real. Do specific research on the origin of YHWH and the origin of monotheism. Jehovah has never been what you've taught. Don't even worry about his/her opinion on whether or not your wife smoked or not.

      @@Eric_01 Same in the congregation where I was going for meetings. One of the witnesses found his wife cheating on him in his own bed (She was also a witness), he got disfellowshipped, because he got angry and said some things, she didn't, because her father was an elder. Her father also never liked the guy, even though he was super chill and ignored him even after they accepted him back. A couple of years later the now ex-wife got disfellowshipped and her father, still elder, and her mother kept talking to her, even sent her money. They never disciplined this elder, because he was one of the most important ones, he basically did everything in the congregation, so probably they were scared of him. She is still an "apostate" as they like to call us, and her parents are still talking to her. I was never baptized and only 2 elder called me after 4 years, just to ask me if I want to return. Hypocritical AF.

  • @davidreda1211
    @davidreda1211 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    Back in the late 1980's, I stopped going to the meetings. An elder invited me over to his family's apartment to talk with me. No other elders were there. When I said to him that I didn't want to go to the meetings anymore or do the preaching work, he said that I should write a letter of disassociation. I told him, "no, I'm not going to do that." It was their way of protecting the congregation while at the same time, allowing them to shun me, written by my own hand. I saw through that immediately because it would have also meant that my own mother would have to shun me, & that would have been the death of her. This is an insidious religion, hiding behind a facade of love.

Two yrs after I was df'd, I told my family and the elders that I wasn't following the governing body anymore.(My parents and siblings basically act like I don't exist to this day). The verse that JW's appeal to to justify shunning has to do with those who still claim to be part of the congregation, yet are living a publicly immoral life. The passage gives the examples of sexual immorality, greed, drunkenness, and similar. It does NOT say to shun those who are no longer members/participants in the group, or to shun people on the basis of theological disagreements. Shunning those who have left or are otherwise no longer participating or merely on the basis of theological controversy is completely unbiblical.

I wrote letters to the govern body before it happened and told them that it was possible. They arrogantly ignored me and told me to my face that it wasn’t real. So I prayed for older ones at the hall and they became healed. When the govern body found out that it was real they made the elders df me without even meeeting with me. They warned the congregation and threatened everyone saying that if they speak out they will get df also. All of this is because the govern body doesn’t want to be wrong so they are trying to sweep this under the rug just like with the child molestsation charges. The governing body reported that if this gets out it’ll destroy the organization. They said it themselves. So they even know. This is why they disfellowshiped me to keep this hidden. I’m not going to keep silent on this. I’m spreading this out. I would be happy to do an interview with you on your show. I’m already doing interviews on two other ex jws on there channels. This is a unique story and it’s going to help wake a lot of people up

  • @Rupunzelsawake

    The elders broke the rules with me. Two of the elders on my jc were the two that "investigated " me. On two occasions they visited me at home to hear about my feelings and concerns . They were elders and so I was honest with them about my loss of confidence in the gb and that I could no longer believe that they are the only channel and that the jws are the only true religion. I had not shared this thought with others in the congregation, plus, I had not been attending meetings for about 3 months . So these two elders served as the witnesses against me, having heard my views during their supposed shepherding call, AND as the judge, jury and executioner. That was breaking their own rules. Interestingly, it was never offered to me as an option that I could just remain inactive, and essentially be left alone. It was either "resign or get kicked out!" I think they preemptively kicked me out, just in case I would talk. Disfellowshipping me so unjustly for alleged apostasy only ensured that I did speak out .

    Everyone disfellowshipped one needs to beware of this rule! The original elders are the only ones who are allowed to know why you got disfellowshipped! Never admit to a new committee.
    When a disfellowshipped one goes to a different Kingdom Hall the new three elders does not have the right to know why you got disfellowshipped.
    Yet, new elders contact original elder by phone or letter. Then the original elders share why you got disfellowshipped with them.
    They claim it is to try to help the disfellowshipped ones, yet their gossip only hinders. Therefore, they break their rules and try to get disfellowshipped ones to keep talking about their errors.
    Disfellowshipped ones can legally sue for breaking the rules, but getting elders letters is needed!
    I went through reinstatement and was shocked when one elder who was angry and wanted to use power over me threw an original letter on my lap! It was the 70s and I did not read the elders manual, and I did not realize it was a cult!
    Later, It actually caused me to have trauma that they went against their own rules and continue to emotionally abuse me.

    I’ve always been an inquisitive person by nature and around 13 or so I ended up a bit delusioned by the congregation. I personally am a large believer in having an established opinion challenged so a more through and well developed system could be developed.
    The congregation is fully against that, that’s all the reason I needed to question the strength of the Congregation.
    My grandmother died a witness and was able to pass peacefully because of the thought of the New World so I am happy to have been one and to support her but since her passing I have personally dissasociated myself with the congregation and never see myself returning to it.

    Thank you for sharing your story Caleb. Actually, this is the first time I’ve listened to one of your videos. It’s horrible what they do to witnesses who are trying to do the right thing. I haven’t been “removed” yet but I’m treated like I am. I lost my husband around the same time I found out about WT 3 years ago. My daughter who’s married to an elder has nothing to do with me. All because I stopped going to meetings and I questioned the GB about some things. It’s been over two years now.
    Like you said though, they break their own rules much like the Pharisaic Jews did in Jesus’s time. They threw people out of the synagogue they didn’t like or weren’t their favorites, going clearly against what the scriptures said. Also they definitely broke their own rules like for example the way they went about having their “judicial meeting “ with Jesus…plus interrogating all night into the wee hours of the morning. And we know how that all ended up.
    The elders, just like the Pharisees will kill your very being and persecute you more than anyone. Like you say, your reputation, among the witnesses is ruined. This is not a godly organization…a they reflect Satan’s personality rather than Jesus.
    I miss my daughter and grandson very much and I feel so bad for ones like you who have to experience this.
    I hope and pray you’ll have peace now.
