    I am a total newbie to Windows 10 video editing. . You, Kevin Stratvert, should be very proud of your talent as a TH-cam presenter. Your 1.13M subscribers (+ one more today!) are a testament to that. At 84 years of age, it takes me a bit longer to cotton on to some of the tricks to using it but I have plenty of time on my hands to practice. Thoroughly recommended.

    As a Windows 10 video editor who uses the app all the time, this video was a really great comprehensive tutorial. One word of caution, if you plan to upload your videos to TH-cam be sure to use non copyright music from youtube's library. I've had copyright issues using the background music form Windows 10 movie editor.
    Thanks for the vid Kevin! Even I learned a few new things.

      @@lukeobrien6684 When you are done creating a video on your laptop, for instance, save the video file to a folder you can easily locate. • @annheatherton
      @annheatherton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like the music that comes with the Microsoft Windows video editor, and I have used it on most of my TH-cam videos. There's only one time where it was flagged for copyright issues. I fought it and won. And while waiting for that decision I learned there are unscrupulous individuals who issue copyright claims for their own purposes.

    • @LateBoomer1964
      @LateBoomer1964 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@annheatherton I thought about that possibility. By using all youtube provided free music I know if anyone wants to falsely report me it's easier for the complaint to die with TH-cam rather than me have to go through the process of fighting. Which I did and got no response. I eventually re-edited the video and put it back up. If I was making money at youtube I would definitely take the time to fight these issues. But if TH-cam isn't your full time gig and paying the bills these headaches can be too time consuming and creativity sucking.

      @@DavidDJenkins I think he converts them 1st to dvd, then possibly uploads them to his PC. Then edits them from there. It might be a bit tricky to break down each dvd. If you want to make your own transitions, text, voice over and music. But just keep experimenting and tweaking till you get what you want. I think once you have your edited video, search for a way to burn them to a dvd. I have a external dvd burner that has it's own software.

    It's good to know that there is a video editor in Windows 10 because I was told by a tech person there wasn't one. One question; how do I start filming/recording a video in this program? Is there something in the program that allows you to select your internal web camera on your laptop to start recording a video like they had in moviemaker after you click on "New"? I don't think you covered that. It sounds like you upload your clips from your phone and already have the video there and are just importing it into the program to organize.

    I see there are a lot of comments here and didn't go through and read them all. So if I repeat here what someone else said, sorry.
    So for me, I have been using Movie Maker for many years and when I updated my OS to Windows 10, Movie Maker was still there and I use it often. I see the pros and cons to the video editor you used Kevin, but I happen to like Movie Maker better. I have not played around with the video editor yet, but I do not see where you can transition from one clip to another except for that hard cut. Movie Maker has many many transitions to use and makes the clip look a ton better. But I like the storyboard aspect of the video editor which Movie Maker doesn't really have. I also like the adding of other audio files to the video editor and adding the text - Movie Maker has it as well, but set up in a different way.
    Overall, I can see myself using both editors - do my initial video setup in Movie Maker and then using the video editor to maybe add a few things that Movie Maker didn't have. But I agree with most people here - its a shame Microsoft didn't make this a known app bundled in - just like they really didn't tell you about Movie Maker either.
    If someone wants to use Movie Maker, they can still download it for free. For a free editor, both are simple to use and makes great videos in their own way. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks, Kevin, this was terrific. I'm making videos for the online class that I teach, and I needed something really simple - just stitching together two videos. But this allows me to do a lot more and to make the videos look a lot better.
    One thing - I wasn't sure how much I needed, so I watched this at 1.5x speed, and your speech is so clear that I could hear everything very well.
    I'll be trying a lot of what you have here. Thanks again!

And, it's much simpler and intuitive. In the past, I tried the free version of Resolve 16, but that is tantamount to building a clock when you just want to know what time it is. Thanks for this.
