@@coolioarseneau1310 Eh, I'm not much of an editor, but as long as you can move panels, images and videos frame by frame, then it's good. Bought 14 Days film maker 2 years ago. I logged into my account after watching this video and was granted free access to 14 Days TH-camr. New lessons have also been added to the course in general. Back then there was no Da Vinci and capcut editing. Thank you so much Anthony.
Hi. I started out with Davinci but found the lagging in playback too annoying, and my pc has decent specs. So I now use Capcut and even with HVEC files the playback is flawless. For the type of videos I make, Capcut does a great job and I find with the keyboard shortcuts, the editing is fast and efficient. One gripe I do have with Capcut is the fading in/out of music, especially fading out. I would prefer it to be 20 seconds long and to fade into silence, whereas at the moment I think the fade out still doesn't fade to a low enough volume so when it's stops, it cuts out too abruptly. Otherwise, I love it, especially the pro version which gives me access to pro tools which are great. Thanks for your honest review and I think your results are fair.
@@MrPaulXavier really? Yeah I am using the PC Desktop Version. I open it up offline it says no internet connection. And then even when I can get past the screen, you can't use any built in transitions and effects due to offline. Are you able to check? Thanks!
I edit videos as a fun hobby so I don't want to pay for subscriptions when I'm only using the editing software once every few weeks or even months. My main issue is video length cuts. I used clipchamp which was fine cutting together and editing my gameplay, but I can't go past 10 mins, even with the paid version. I just want to be able to make 20 min length videos..
Wow; what an impressive video. This is a top notch overview of free video editing software I've ever seen. I have been using Filmora but they have made updates almost every week. Your forced to learn new additions of the software continually. So I looking into a new software editor. This video really helped me to understand what features I might want and if my computer has the memory to operate them. This video itself is user friendly and perfectly laid out. I was amazed; well done.
Have you played filmora? I'm also trying to get into editing but with the free version of filmora, they put a big banner in my video, will it go away if I pay for it?
Cap cut can access your camera and mic while not editing, they have access to everything on your computer or your cell phone, they can see your contacts, way to many permissions not good
Yep, they're owned by TicToc. Most people don't read all the permissions they're agreeing to while they're installing what's basically spyware into their devices!
You need to look into whether or not the programs allow the simple generation of proxy clips to take the strain off lower spec'd computers. It's not always turned on by default.

And I want to edit and render 1440p videos without it taking hours per video I have to wonder how does Devinci stack up against Vegas pro 22
Hi Paul. Just watched your video and have a question or two I hope you can indulge me on. First, I need to build my pc for the task as my old one is obsolete. But I'm a retired electronics engineer who built em back in the 486/Pentium days. Things is I've 50+ yr old silent 8mm videos very very valuable to me and my family. 25 yrs ago I transfered them to S-VHS so going digital is way over due. Still these silent 8mm movies had Deteriorated considerable and were only so so to begin with. My question is: is one one the editing software tools you reviewed capable of "refreshing" old worn footage that's noisy, faded, and glitchy - or the opposite of frame stabilized? So, it's old silent 8mm living on S-VHS I want to refresh, dub over, title and gift to my siblings for Christmas as they've not seen these films in 40+ years when we were youngsters. Awesome gift right?!! But I want it viewable with out the eye strain headaches! Help! Steve Gehrke 1972 AZ MX CHAMP.
I love Divinci but man it's laggier than ever no matter what I try to do to fix the lag. I have high speed ram 32GB a RX 6800XT and a Ryzen 7 two SSD's still lags.
Not really to be honest, there are tons of foreign companies making apps as well, people have just really chosed to focus in on this one company in particular.
Amazing breakdown man, I request you to make videos around color grading in capcut & lightroom to make videos cinematic, as I struggle to play with curves.
Do these programs maintain the audio sync throughout the edited videos regardless if you sped the video clips up, reversed them, or had many small chopped up clips? I paid $80 for Filmora 11 and it has problems with this
Are you familiar with OBS Studio? If so, is it beginner friendly? I just downloaded it and so far I'm kind of lost. I've done some very basic video editing with Photoshop, but it only works for short videos. No budget rn for another app. Cheers!
As a noob the reason why I’m looking at free is I don’t want to invest my time in a closed source product I’d rather spend more time learning a complex product and have that to use for years to come instead of being at the mercy of a company like adobe
Is there a way to change your default save location for Clip Champ? Whenever I record myself it saves the video to my downloads folder. I definitely dont want it there. Keep in mind this is before exporting the finished edit, this is just when I press record and then stop recording it automatically saves that to my downloads folder.
Nice and useful video! I miss Shotcut to be one of the contendants though, since it seems to me it has plenty of powerful options, like color correction, and it is not just absolutely free, but even FOSS.
Question, Anthony: with your Content Creators templates, are you able to tell me if the assets such as the transitions can work with CapCut or Camtasia? Sorry for asking here, but I didn't see a contact form on your site where the templates are listed. Thank you for your patience. :)
If you go to contentcreatortemplates.com right now, there are filters on the left side of the screen that you can use to select for only CapCut compatible templates. You can also select “all platforms” which will include camtasia as well! Unfortunately those two editors don’t support a lot of third party templates but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.
as an editor that uses clipchamp here are some pros and cons of the video editing software: pros: easy to use, templates are mid audio sometimes can be buggy cons: it can sometimes get rid of your video, (I have had this happen to me a couple of times) sometimes you have to use 3rd party apps to get the right volume for the audio
Thanks for explaining clip champ lag. could not understand what was going on. massive memory usage slowed everything. couldnt use other programmers while it was running.
I used Clip Champ because of this video and loved it. I just wish it werent so buggy and had a timeline more similar to movie maker (so i dont have to zoom in/out and pan around so much). Are there any paid or free programs as easy to use and quick as clip champ/movie maker? I made some clips in resolve but couldnt imagine editing a full project with it
So I've just got windows 11 and I googled clipchamp maximum video length, it recommends 10min maximum,,inwana do longer video so what's 10 min about ? Seems a pointless programme if that's the case,,,any advice?
I am not sure why I am watching this when I use Vegas Pro. Curious how free things have come, I suppose. These free apps seem very simplistic. Focused more on auto-editing and phones than providing what comes off as "basic" tools to me. Davinci aside, but Davinci hides the good stuff (like hardware encoding) behind a paywall.
is there a good free editing program that allows exporting 4k video. i currently use clipchamp it came on my computer but have to pay to export anything over 1080p
Disappointed. I installed Clipchamp and used it. The first file I want to edit with it is incompatible with it. That file is a MP4 file with AV1 video format and AAC audio format.
What happened to the Camera tracking feature in CapCut? I've seen videos that included that feature but I cannot find it in CapCut 4.6 which I downloaded a couple of months ago.
as soon as i saw the first part of davinci resolve i knew thats the best for me. im just having issues editing on my phone because i edit 4k 100mb/s videos
How does Shotcut compare to your 1st 2 options for beginners? I mostly need a very simple way to splice recorded video segments together for TH-cam tutorials (& not cause blips that make it obvious I spliced two takes of a video together - ie I need to make smooth transitions across splices). If it was easy, I might add some overlaid text or notes, too. Thx.
Thanks for the information. I'm struggling with Adobe PE9, it now crashes when I include text, it also have a 15 minute upload limit, which is miserable, but other than these issues it does everything I want for my TH-cam videos. Dose Capcut upload directly to TH-cam, like PE9, or do I have to go through another process? Regards . . . Andy
I just started making youtube videos as a hobby so I definitely needed free software. I have been using clip champ and I have no complaints. That being said I would like to increase what I am able to do in my videos so I will definitely be giving cap cut a try. Thanks for this video
I was all over Capcut and started a project. Then I needed to adjust the duration of some of the text clips. No way to do that, but there are plenty of videos that tell me how to make all the clips the same duration. That's not what I wanted to do. So it seems you have to drag the clip to the duration you want, only I could find no way to do that precisely. No gauge indicating how many seconds the altered clip was (I was changing the duration of text). This was the first video editing software I used where I didn't have the ability to set a clip's duration after it had been placed on the timeline along with a bunch of other clips. Who doesn't have to make editorial changes to their projects? Somebody tell me what I'm missing, please!
I think since i dont hsve much time ill start with capcut since it seems more simple and if im able to grow an audiancd and able to dedicate more time ill learn a more powerful editing software.

Thanks for the great video, broke it down and made sense of all the important parts. if only more videos were like this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love Divinci but man it's laggier than ever no matter what I try to do to fix the lag. I have high speed ram 32GB a RX 6800XT and a Ryzen 7 two SSD's still lags.
Thank you for the content. Very friendly and well explained!
No concerns over privacy or tracking with capcut??
Not really to be honest, there are tons of foreign companies making apps as well, people have just really chosed to focus in on this one company in particular.
Just got Davinci resolve yesterday and my head is spinning 😂
Haha we can teach you in our course if you like!
Thank you! Incredibly useful information.
Can't find any Android version of CapCut version in Playstore. For PC I use Davinci Resolve.
Probably because it's owned by the same company as TicToc. It's Chinese spyware and I believe the Play Store removed it.
Amazing breakdown man, I request you to make videos around color grading in capcut & lightroom to make videos cinematic, as I struggle to play with curves.
We talk more about color grading in our course! Lightroom is a photo editing software though, not for videos.
@@MrPaulXavier but your can explain basic features, functionality for beginners like many YT's did. not expecting detailed video. rest, as your wish.
Do these programs maintain the audio sync throughout the edited videos regardless if you sped the video clips up, reversed them, or had many small chopped up clips? I paid $80 for Filmora 11 and it has problems with this
Gracias señor. Very helpful! Capcut.
Thank you for your advice. Please advise how long the video can we export? Are they come with watermark?
There is no time limit! and no watermark
@@MrPaulXavier Unfortunately CAPCUT only free for export of 2 minutes video. I will have to pay for a video of longer duration. Is there any tricks?
Are you familiar with OBS Studio? If so, is it beginner friendly? I just downloaded it and so far I'm kind of lost. I've done some very basic video editing with Photoshop, but it only works for short videos. No budget rn for another app. Cheers!
Yes it’s a good software but not really for editing
@@MrPaulXavierthanks for the quick response. I'm going to check Capcut and DaVinci Resolve for sure then. Cheers!
As a noob the reason why I’m looking at free is I don’t want to invest my time in a closed source product I’d rather spend more time learning a complex product and have that to use for years to come instead of being at the mercy of a company like adobe
You just nail it again. ANTHONY GALLO 😁😊
Thank you!
I worked on Premier pro. Now I work on Davinci Resove, but sometimes I use Capcut.
nice :)
Such a thoughtful and informative video. Thank you for providing sound advice!
Have you ever looked at shot cut for mobile editing
Yes I prefer the ones mentioned in this video. It’s similar to CapCut though
What a great video man, nice work 💯.
Where are the app links??
Question, Anthony: with your Content Creators templates, are you able to tell me if the assets such as the transitions can work with CapCut or Camtasia?
Sorry for asking here, but I didn't see a contact form on your site where the templates are listed.
Thank you for your patience. :)
If you go to contentcreatortemplates.com right now, there are filters on the left side of the screen that you can use to select for only CapCut compatible templates. You can also select “all platforms” which will include camtasia as well! Unfortunately those two editors don’t support a lot of third party templates but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.
@@MrPaulXavier Wonderful - thanks much, Anthony!
as an editor that uses clipchamp here are some pros and cons of the video editing software:
pros: easy to use, templates are mid audio sometimes can be buggy
cons: it can sometimes get rid of your video, (I have had this happen to me a couple of times) sometimes you have to use 3rd party apps to get the right volume for the audio
After watching this would you consider capcut?
@@MrPaulXavier yea probably
@@MrPaulXavier I used capcut then switch to clipchamp
In my opinion, besides beginner/mobile friendliness, other categories are more important for editor/film maker.
Not sure what you’re saying. Which categories are most important to you?
Thanks for explaining clip champ lag. could not understand what was going on. massive memory usage slowed everything. couldnt use other programmers while it was running.
I don't want my data to be tracked with CapCut
Which one of them supports RTL languages ?
I used Clip Champ because of this video and loved it. I just wish it werent so buggy and had a timeline more similar to movie maker (so i dont have to zoom in/out and pan around so much).
Are there any paid or free programs as easy to use and quick as clip champ/movie maker?
I made some clips in resolve but couldnt imagine editing a full project with it
Awesome video; helped me decide based on my needs.
Clipchamp
CapCut
D Vinci resolve
i was watching your video, and then an ad of you came lol
Bought the package let’s see how good it is 😎
Enjoy!
So I've just got windows 11 and I googled clipchamp maximum video length, it recommends 10min maximum,,inwana do longer video so what's 10 min about ? Seems a pointless programme if that's the case,,,any advice?
It let's you make videos up to an hour. Just after making a 10 minute video it can take a long time to render the finished mp4 file.
Haha well we're glad you watched either way :)
Hi Paul, thanks for the video. I decided to go with Capcut to start editing my vlog. :)
is there a good free editing program that allows exporting 4k video. i currently use clipchamp it came on my computer but have to pay to export anything over 1080p
CapCut exports in 4K without needing to buy pro
capcut says "modify your videocard settings or video might be choppy" cheers but I dont think so, it plays 4k video fine. if its choppy, see ya....
Disappointed. I installed Clipchamp and used it. The first file I want to edit with it is incompatible with it. That file is a MP4 file with AV1 video format and AAC audio format.
Thanks for making editing easier bro.
What happened to the Camera tracking feature in CapCut? I've seen videos that included that feature but I cannot find it in CapCut 4.6 which I downloaded a couple of months ago.
I think you need more cuts and transitions in your video, you definitely need more. Please and thank you
Thanks for the feedback!
@Content Creators Do you know to what end capcut stores our videos on their servers??
Nice video thanks. I am going for Davinci since i hope to be a pro one time
as soon as i saw the first part of davinci resolve i knew thats the best for me. im just having issues editing on my phone because i edit 4k 100mb/s videos
Yeah that is a tough workload to put on your phone.
How can I upgrade my CapCut PC version to a Pro version? I don’t see any button to do so, and I don’t see any option to upgrade on their website too.
Try to use a pro effect and when you export it will prompt you to upgrade
@@MrPaulXavier I can't see any Pro FX in the FX section, I don't know why. I have the latest version
Thx.
I’d still prefer CapCut without a doubt over shotcut
@@MrPaulXavier Thx. Is it b/c of features, reliability, ease of use, other? I use OBS Studio to record.
All of the above. Super powerful and free!
Thank you Content creators..
Our pleasure!
Regards . . . Andy
What do you think of a software called Videoproc Vlogger???
I prefer capcut
Which one did you use to shoot this video?
I personally use premiere pro, but it's not free so I couldn't mention it here.
Great video!
Thanks!
Thank you - valuable, well summarised review.
Thank you for this video! It was very helpful 👌
I just started making youtube videos as a hobby so I definitely needed free software. I have been using clip champ and I have no complaints. That being said I would like to increase what I am able to do in my videos so I will definitely be giving cap cut a try. Thanks for this video
You got it!
You should be able to adjust the length of your text clips like I’ve done in this tutorial here. You just drag the edges
Thank you, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
for phones power director is pretty good for me but i might use capcut later
I started editing to make fun of my friends now i need a much better software to make fun of them thank you so much for those recommends
I think since i dont hsve much time ill start with capcut since it seems more simple and if im able to grow an audiancd and able to dedicate more time ill learn a more powerful editing software.
💪🏻🔥
