    What size and thread pitch is that threaded rod you used? I’m looking at doing this myself soon.. thank you!

    Thanks for the instructions to make that tool . Doing the seals on t4 098

    Even with a hoist, not that fun to do. I have no luck with seals myself... cam, crank or other. It's usually the second seal that I install without damaging it. :)
    Thanks for the shout out! I've been swamped with messages these past few weeks... hitting 100k can wait another 3 years! Let's get you & Steve up to 10k first!

    removal is easier than install..... i have the same spring type CV flange ..... getting the VW type circlip back is a nightmare with the gearbox inside the car..... thanks i will for future reference get the conventional type circlip with the holes lol.... would make life easier

    Fantastic , two bodges in the same vid. Nice tip on changing the clip. They do make a special tool to install the others but your idea way better. I think I'll have to think of something to get Thomas to 100K , wonder if he'd shave his legs:) 👍👍

    I’m here because my mechanic told me that the “driver side transmission output flange” axle screws have been cross threaded on my MK 7.5. Is this the part be is describing?

    did not show the most interesting thing - how and with what to unscrew the bearing housing?

    That's a lot of work for an oil seal. Good thing you could do it yourself or that would have cost you bundles. Love the stickers. Best to you and your family.

      +wyattoneable Thanks. Turned out to be a much bigger job than I had planned but another job done.

    Do you have the part number from the seal kit?

  • @rhkips
    @rhkips 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The lack of space is what makes doing those seals such a pain in the butt. I can't recall if the Golf/Jetta has the same 9kg cast iron brick bolted to the subframe by the right side axle flange, but if it does, and you have to do that side, don't lay under the thing while you unbolt it. It really, really hurts. ;)
    Good job with the improv tool there! Looks like it might just work better than VW's option, since yours gives you some space to get fingers and pliers in on that circlip. :D

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +rhkips It was miserable doing this job. I had been staring at it for months hoping it would be ok until timing chain time. Also meant I had been thinking about my makeshift tool for a while and I have to say it is pretty perfect!
      I know that big iron brick you are talking about but thankfully it isn't present on mine :) Hopefully that's it for maintenance on this car for a while, looking forward to driving it.

    • @rhkips
      @rhkips 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Badgertronix
      Haha, I envy you and your lack of a chassis brick! I tried leaving it off, but the resulting cabin noise was so awful that I cut my errands for the day short to come home and bolt the bloody thing back on.
      I'm still ignoring my timing chain, pretending it'll fix itself, despite it now showing signs that it's close to giving up the ghost.
      I did, however, do that IAT sensor swap I mentioned before. I'm impressed by the results--much better response around town and on the highway once the engine is up to temperature. If you're at all curious, I could shoot a quick video tomorrow documenting the conversion?

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +rhkips I'd be keen to see that IAT trick. I think I have a new later type one on my parts shelf for some reason.

    Thanks for the video. Was given a bw golf for free and the only issue is all the cv axle/driveshaft bolts are broken in that flange. Wasnt sure if it was removable

    • @Badgertronix

      You don't need to remove it to get broken bolts out

    if it is front wheel drive and you say it is not the transmission oil?If it is a manual gearbox they share the same oil Not separate on automatic as it looks like they must be separate i guess.Red hydr oil on automatic.

I don't think that anyone would pay me enough to do another one. Keep your chin up with the baby as it will get better. I know as It took a while to get my wife trained.....LoL.
