Agree about Belgium, and lucky enough I was there on my motorbike in September 2021 too...I follow your channel now for quite a while. I'm into hifi and music for almost 50 years and, as noble records mentioned today, you have the cleanest collection I've ever seen. Thanks for your tipps of blue note classic series, I ordered 16 albums at my record dealer in my hometown. And the Nirvana Superbox etc....keep on the good work, and best wishes for your shoulder.
Earlier in 2023, Acoustic Sounds deeply discounted the Lee Koenitz/Gerry Mulligan (I assume, to clear out tons of unsold copies) and I grabbed it... Wow! A wonderful 50's jazz record that I am thrilled to have. I highly recommend this beauty, which is a fabulous recording and great music both. 👍👍
I listened to the first side with some friends a couple of nights ago. My friends wife is much more of a listener of alternate pop. We were all hearing it for the first time. There is a paradox to it. It might seem that it is a random collection of disjointed sounds and notes, yet somehow it has a coherency and order to the music. We were all captivated for the whole piece.
Thank you very much of your such phantastic review, just got the two records. The only thing I don’t agree Is about the too much sun in Belgium..sorry I live in the costa del sol….Best Regards and Keep on doing such an excellent reviews!!
Agree about Belgium. Had the fantastic opportunity to see Prince live there and have the poster for the concert up in my studio. Great video as usual, looking forward to your thoughts on the newly announced classic series line up.
We’re fairly new subscribers and love your channel. It’s ironic we’re seeing this video today. This past Thursday we dropped in our favorite record store and picked up a copy of Wayne Shorter’s “The All Seeing Eye” Blue Note Tone Poet series album. Hadn’t heard it yet(way behind on listening to new albums we received), but looking forward to it!-Chris & Beth🎧
As someone whose favorite beer is Maredsous, I hope you had a round or two during your travels! Also, I picked up that Lee Konitz on a whim about 90 minutes ago from my local store. Looking forward to giving it a spin soon!
Thanks for the video Michael. Maybe it's time to check out Arthur Grumiaux, a virtuoso violinist from.... Belgium, if you haven't. He had an illustrious recording career on the classical label Philips. His Bach & Mozart recordings, and his string trio repertoire are all "aristocratic".
Thank you for the review! Have you, by any chance, checked the Pure Pleasure edition of the Konitz/Mulligan album? How does it compare with the Tone Poet one?
Love this absolutely awesome Wayne Album! I'm wondering which gatefold outer sleeves you are using - it is not the first time I noticed in your videos that they are fitting quite well the dimensions of the Tone Poet's covers. Und: Danke für all die tolle Reviews Michael!
Hi Freddy, he uses the ones from Vinyl Storage Solutions. A one man Canada based company. You can find several videos on his channel, where he shows them. Michael even did a video with the man behind VSS. :-) Greetings
another Great video as usual this Wayne album not my cup of tea but I do happen to like the Mulligan album. I do rather like Etcetera though more $$ then other Blue Notes for some reason.
I had trouble with the Wayne Shorter as I listened to it online as I do with much Avant Garde. I get the same reaction from much modern "experimental" orchestral music & had to pass. I'm waiting impatiently though for the Konitz/Mulligan to arrive. Apparently there's a stereo version out there as well.
Great video. I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Belgium. I live in Brussels and have several times been to Düsseldorf for a long weekend. A fast drive.
I agree about Belgium. We live 5 minutes from the border and it has been our favourite weekend destination for decades.
Great video, lovely to hear you had a great break..I enjoyed Belgium too (stag do!) Good steak and beer!
Great to know you’re enjoying both new music and vacation, Michael.
Keep up the good work ! Greetings from Gent, Belgium.
Nice to hear you liked your stay in De Haan (Belgium). I live about 15km from there in Blankenberge.
it is soooo beautiful will be there soon again
thank you for the reviews. you are getting better at describing the details of the actual music. I appreciate that.

I already know what you are going to say about the next Blue Note Classics lineup and I agree.
I highly recommend The Magnificent Tree by Belgian outfit HOOVERPHONIC!

@@Michael45RPM I agree!!!!

1953…. Is it mono ?
My order did not arrive yet. According to JPC's website Lee Konitz got pushed back a little more to October 8th. :-(
O got the Records fro Acoustic Sounds

Die Platten sind unterwegs
Mike so this album isnt like night dreamer or speak no evil?

Hi Mike.is the sound quality of Wayne Shorter in this Lp very good? Thanks
Yes i really like it!
So you probably passed Antwerp. I live 20km away from Antwerp. :-)
Antwerp is a gorgeous city. I had some work assignments in Bornem but stayed in Antwerp off and on in 2016. Great memories there for sure.
Yes we went threw Antwerp. A loooot of Traffic :.-)
@@paulspanbauer4125 I live next to Bornem, over the water.
@@Michael45RPM yes it is terrible. When we travel to Italy by car Antwerp makes me nervous the most. And Frankfurt :-)
I love Belgium - more specifically Bruges
If Wayne Shorter was slightly taller he would be of average height!
Abby Road 50th isn't thattt bad in my opinion though. better than the 2009 version though.

Karl and Friedrich? As in Marx and Engels or just coincidence? 🤓
JUST a coincidence for sure
Michael...Gerry is pronounced "jerry"...tee hee
