It's really a great look! I have a video on wall installation here: Transform Your Bathroom with Vertical Shiplap - Easy Installation th-cam.com/video/Nq9nHWA_OzM/w-d-xo.html
Came over from your bench post on DIY. Really liking your channel so far. You're a really likeable guy, easy to watch, and the video quality is great. Didn't expect this for the sub count you have. Glad I found your post and came over. How do you like the DeWalt brad nailer? I got my wife a pneumatic DeWalt with pancake compressor for Christmas, she didn't love it, so went out and got the Milwaukee M18 brad nailer. She likes it because it has an air cannister inside it refills after each shot, so there's no delay (flywheel spin up) for the next nail.
Thank you I appreciate the kind comments. Only been doing it for 9 months. The channel was too broad at first. I was doing home improvements and bbq. I finally decided I enjoyed diy better and stopped with the bbq. I lost a bunch of subs because of this and I don't think TH-cam knew what my channel was at the time. I'm all diy now so just starting to gain some traction. Man I love that 18g nailer! Never jams, no hose or compressor! I glad I went with the 18g and not anything bigger. It has done everything I needed. It's likely my favorite tool outside of my stud finder :)
@@HomeProHero your stud finder is pretty awesome. That pic I linked with all the blue tape pieces all over the wall, those are the studs. My wife just knocks to hear the difference. But that doesn't always work and it's not exactly precise, so I'll probably get her your stud finder. It is really pretty cool.
@@Giftig--Daniel-P wow the knocking method! Never could do that. That stud finder is good! I have had several and this one is the best for sure. Never wrong!
Thx for watching and the sub! I buy all of my shiplap at menards. Not sure on the brand but you can find on their website. The product was finger jointed prime pine - real wood. HPH
I don't think you need a break as long as you have room at both ends for expansion. 1/8 to a 1/4 is plenty and honestly I'm not sure if it really does expand at all. Mine is doing well no issues and it's in a basement. Thx for watching
I watched you install that first piece and nail it close to the wall and then you came out and nailed it again in the lower section that would be covered by the next board. Then I watched you pull the board away from the ceiling . What was that about ? I'm asking because I will be installing the same product in my laundry room ceiling and would like to know if you made a mistake nailing or what ?
I think it was the editing might have been out of order. I had to rewatch the video to see it. I never removed anything during this project. Just make sure you leave room for expansion that the most important part. 1/8 to a 1/4 is good. Take csre
Yes and a small on on the front edge of first and last boards you install. Think of it as 365 degree around the room of at least a 1/8 gap. Not much just don't want anything buckling which isn't likely :)

Thank you for a good video. I'll be installing it on a wall, but the principle is the same. You gained a subscriber.

If for instance you have a 12 foot ceiling and 12 foot boards, do you have to have a break in those boards when installing?

@@HomeProHero Expansion - you mean on the ends of each board ,correct ?

@@HomeProHero Appreciate the tips
I wouldn’t use construction adhesive for the same reason you are leaving the gap. Wood moves. Bad things happen if it can’t move.
I see your point but with this product it hasn't been an issue at least for the first 2yrs.
