Thank you so much for all the effort you put in educating for free. My child was diagnosed with ADD and autism, but he has these symptoms you mention. Regards from Finland 🙏🏻
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing a bit about your child’s journey. ADD and autism can sometimes overlap with trauma symptoms, which can make it challenging to pinpoint exactly what’s happening. Trauma can heighten sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation difficulties, and behavioral responses-things that may already be present in autism or ADD. Understanding these layers and working through them with a trauma-informed approach can be incredibly beneficial for your child’s overall well-being. It’s wonderful that you’re seeking out resources and information to support your child. If you found this video helpful, please consider sharing it so others might benefit from these insights as well. Sending warm regards back to Finland! I am 41 now, and I can say with absolute certainty that I am a hyper vigilant individual. I prefer to stand over sitting, and I can’t focus on conversation if there are lots of people ~especially young children~ around for me to “keep safe.” I feel personally responsible for the safety and well-being of others. Also, I recently learned about a lack of a desire to eat within ASD (for I suspect it)… “Loss of appetite. Well, when your… stress response is in overdrive, it is not time to eat. It is not time to rest and digest - it is time to fight or flee. So… the desire to eat will often go away.” WOW. Stress response in overdrive...🤔 Masking being a VERY stressful moment to moment coping mechanism for Autistics…🤔 Lacking the desire / urgency to eat can be a symptom of Autism….. * *sigh* * I may be reaching, as it can be a symptom of MANY things, but still…. 🤯
Thank you, Dr Snipes, for this very enlightening video. Have you got any tips or helpful advice for dealing with the aftermath of childhood trauma in later life? As a parent, this video has helped me to understand, in hindsight, what I didn't realise or recognise at the time. As a result, my adult son is now struggling with CPTSD as a result of growing up in an unsafe family environment, with domestic abuse, physical and emotional, where I was also traumatised and as a result was an ineffective mother, and failed him. Many thanks.

Isn't it funny that adults can recognize triggers in themselves but overlook the possibility in children. It's as though society categorizes us to such a degree that people outside of certain parameters are barely seen as just as human as anyone else.

How do I book a session with you.
At the moment I am not seeing any new patients. Once I have openings, people either need to live in Florida or Tennessee or come to Nashville.
