    3,800 actual miles! 2 owners, original survivor. Has original invoice, the original build sheet is still under the seat. The 2nd owner was at an estate sale 6 years ago and this car was covered up in the garage. He struck a deal, bought it then parked it.
    EXTERIOR: It has its original Heritage Brown paint with day 2 enhancements. Typical of those times it had some dark brown air brushed highlights and hand pin striping. The dark brown is cracking with some flaking on the bumpers and spoiler. It also had the hood bird custom air brushed on. The factory paint actually still has a glossy finish. The body is excellent, no rust or significant damage, only a couple minor door dings. The original weatherstrips and window seals are still very good. The original glass is crystal clear. It has the 15x8 snowflake wheels and they look brand new. They also still have their original polysteel tires with no wear.
    INTERIOR: It's like a time capsule! Practically looks brand new and it's all original. The dash area is spotless, ashtray was never used. Cushions, upholstery, carpet are mint. The original build sheet is still under the driver seat. All the trim, console, steering wheel, ashtrays are like new. It has tilt wheel and a factory cassette stereo.
    ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 6.6 liter 403 motor runs smooth. It's all stock- original valve covers, manifolds, brackets etc. Complete shaker hood assembly including duct work. It features power steering and brakes.
    TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has a power trunk release. Zero rust. Under the trunk lid is original paint in excellent shape. It has the original collapsible spare, air bottle and jack. None of which have ever been out of the car. It has a custom carpet liner and tire cover. It also has original t-top bags and front license plate bracket.
    UNDERSIDE: It is a very well preserved, all original underside. It has the special performance package which includes upgraded handling and disc brakes at all for wheels. All the components still look to be in very good shape. The shocks may have been replaced. It still has its original exhaust including the catalytic converter, GM mufflers and the splitter chrome tips. (In the video I mistakenly said the converter was rusted, it is not.) There is zero rust in the floors, braces, rockers, or lower quarter panels. Pristine metal. Bottom of the motor is original, never even spray painted over. Original Turbo 350 automatic trans. Original posi rear end.
    Conclusion: Not many Trans Ams from 1979 only have 3,800 actual miles. A car can be restored over and over, it can be original only once. This is a rare opportunity!
    I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

    Really brings back memories. I bought a brand new 1979 Solar Gold TransAm with the same Olds 403 and TH-350 in January 1980. The dealer had '79's sitting in his back lot and couldn't sell them because of the "Gas Crisis." I let my kids decide which new car to buy after we had driven many makes and models. They were 15, 13 and 9 years old and chose the T/A. The car was really fun to drive, in fact my 63 year mother loved to borrow the car and often volunteered to drive me to the airport for business trips so she could have the car while I was away. The assembly quality of the car was typical GM '70's "malaise" level. The transmission lasted about 10K miles of very moderate driving and then fell apart. Once we put a kit in the trans it was great for the next 150,000 miles. Those were the days, cruising around with "Miss Right" and listening to our cassette tapes, on both speakers!
    FYI, the "handling package" on the car is quite a bit more than that. It's the WS6 Special Performance Package and includes the 4-wheel discs, faster steering, stiffer springs, better shocks, bigger anti-roll bars front & rear, stiffer suspension bushings and wider wheels. Probably a few more things that I've forgotten. The wheels are an inch wider than stock T/A "Snowflakes" that's why they have that lip on them.
    Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thank you very much.

    WOW talk about a Survivor, this is the absolute king, I know there are others with close to no miles but the pristine condition sets this T/A puts it in its own category. Again Jay has pulled out all the stops!!

    Wow!! Nice, nice nice TA!! No doubt a one-of-a-kind car ..... And 3,700 survivor miles! This car is one if those 'special finds', and the colors so perfect for the era. They're usually black, red or white. This color is what makes it pop out at you! Very well priced, and one that can be phrased truly impeccable. Someone's getting a true piece of real American car here ..... Congrats to them!!

    I had a '79 fully loaded with every option Pontiac offered same color combo, WS6 performance package , velour seats , custom interior , Custom exterior , Gold package , T-Tops , interior light package , custom leather headliner , Power antenna was on the left rear quarter panel ( Did not want it in the front ) , Cassette & 8 track tape players , reading Lamps , Illuminated visor mirrors , Power everything , Tilt wheel , ( wanted tele scoping , but was not offerd ) Color matched body side moldings edged in chrome , door edge guards , guards around the door latches , Mud guards , that spelled out TransAm but reflective on all four wheel openings . Later on I darkend all the windows in 65 % tint . That was when tinting first started and there was no regulations, not like today . When I finished ordering it came up to the base price of a standard Coupe Deville

    What a find, a car is only original once. Too bad it's a 403 automatic, a 400 4 speed would be better.

    • @VoloMuseumAutoSales
      @VoloMuseumAutoSales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, many would prefer a manual in a car like this but some will also appreciate being able to just jump in & cruise without shifting.

    Very nice and would thing rare with only 3700 miles on it. Great enthusiast entry level at that price. Car has a lot of potential. Wonder if someone would drop a bigger V8, and put a awesome new exhaust on it. Agreed, TIME CAPSULE..
