Paul, I did everything you said to do... diligent keyword research, good cover design, sensible niche... I hit "publish" on December 23, 2021, 10:30pm EST. It's Dec 30 now and my very first book appears, not just on the 1st page of the most generic product search of my niche but, it's the 1st book on the 1st page! This is really fun, so far! @@stimpsonkayleigh257 it's going great from my point of view but, not because of sales. I sold 3 since my launch and, one of those was my own purchase. I have my 2nd book on the way and, have a New Year's Resolution of 2 low-content book launches each month in 2022. I have a good feeling about this project but, my first book, visually speaking, is unfinished-looking and lacks broad commercial appeal. Kayleigh, Are you a seasoned KPD publisher?

These will be handy because many ppl use random notebooks to write the info of ppl and birthdays.
And from experience as much as I like genealogy sites such as 23 and me or ancestry-the hints are generally not accurate and other ppl can have inaccurate information they add to the site. I know ancestry keeps deleting my own grandma on dad’s side because it doesn’t recognize that my great-aunt and grandma have very similar names. So it keeps thinking they are the same ppl and continues to delete my grandma’s side. 🤷♀️😡
So back up recordings are handy.

Paul, thank you so much for all your KDP info, I’ve watched ALL your videos, learned all I know from you and and now have 43 books up in two months. I’m pretty much computer illiterate (retired graphic designer before Adobe, etc) but with all I’ve learned from your videos I’ve been able to do this. As of the last two days I’ve noticed that Amazon puts my books up the very next day and even has the ‘look inside’ feature. In the beginning it took several days and the ‘look inside’ took even longer. I’m curious about that. Have also had three sales! Two questions, if I download single pages from Creative Fabrica (say for a coloring book) and edit them on Canva . . . how do I get them all into one file to download into the KDP ‘manuscript’ file as a whole? Second question; I believe in one of your videos you had a link to your KDP spreadsheets but I can’t find it, I could really use it now. I can’t think you enough Paul, you’ve given me a new ‘retirement hobby’ and I’m loving it! La’Nelle
Hi there. You can put them all together into one file in Canva or, as I do, and find easier, in PoerPoint or Keynote. If you go to my Gumroad shop (link in most of my videos) you will find the free KDP spreadsheet.

This is a super interesting model, thank you for sharing. My Q, if you’d be so kind; I hear and see soo often that Amazon has soo many grey areas and closes accounts of good people for no reason at all, is this the case or is there a clear violation in all cases? Also, do you have a course? Thanks!
I’m a semi-professional genealogist and I’ve seen this book before. But it seems like an overwhelming process to create a LCB in genealogy. I currently make family history binders for clients and it’s a lot of time consuming effort. For example. I don’t see how you could make interiors from scratch in one or two days. Genealogy is a highly specialized niche and accuracy in your research is 100% important. The interior pages need to reflect that. And it probably has to be a larger book size than 6x9.

Either way is fine.
I have books published in this niche but not selling particularly well. I guess I should take a look at the keywords and republish them.
There are many factors to getting sales - niche choice, keyword choice and use, titles, cover designs, pricing and description. It is worth considering these and making changes to what you think might be the reasons and experiment.

With some of the books I'm looking to create I've noticed the overall Amazon BSR rank can be quiet high but within specific categories the BSR is quite low.
Does this mean they are selling lots of book within specific categories but not that many on Amazon overall

No, there is no option for spiral bound. I'll look at the idea for a video although I have discussed it previous videos.
Redbubble offers speak notebooks, but obviously you have no control over thre interior it'll just be plain with your artwork on the cover...

You need to search on Amazon.com i.e. the US Amazon and put in a US delivery zip code.
Hi, I really like your videos and I'm waiting for them with interest. I have one specific question: I enter the keyword "genealogy organizer" in AMZ on ALL and it shows me 234 searches, and when I enter the same keywords in Books it shows 2,000 searches. How it's working? Are BOOKS not included in ALL? Because I thought so.

I subscribe to Creative Fabrica which includes the commercial licenses. I then use the images with the full POD licenses.

Yes you can. Overtime you will understand more of what I'm referring too. When I started I knew nothing about these types of figures but still grew sales. Just continue to publish and learn a little more each day.

I have a question. Has anyone recieved an email from KDP stating they need to go through all the books that have used a certain pen name and republish them starting from scratch? My main pen name has the word "book" in it...I guess that's the issue but I've been using it for months now.
I'm kinda freaking out.
If your pen name has something that relates to a keyword - and Amazon emailed you about it, then best do as they've requested. Whenever there is something like this (that goes against their rules) they always request we review our catalogue and remove any similar books (where we have broken their rules). Don't unpublish them all in one go, unpublish a few at a time. Safest way to proceed. Alternatively: call KDP and apologize for the mistake and let them know that going forward you will avoid using keywords in your pen names. Good luck.
In the past, they accepted these types of pen names, but no longer and hence are revamping their catalogue. You don't want your account to be shut down, so it's best to do so as soon as possible. Email KDP and let them know of your intentions and start working on a few at a time. At best, you just need to change the author name and cover page. You will have to resubmit a new book though. So, have 2 tabs/windows open, one with the book to be unpublished, and one with the new submission. Copy the book details from the old to the new. This will make it easier so you don't have to brainstorm over the keywords and descriptions. And re-upload the files from the old books.
