I have watched several in the last few days. Everyone does it different and I'm sure they are all ok to use. However your video and explanation makes it look as simple as it really is. Thank you....
Thanks, the only thing I would add is make sure you buy stainless steel eyes if you salt water fish. I have to order new ones and replace these due to rust.
Excellent job. Especially the tip to apply heat to get bubbles out of an epoxy finish. A step that many overlook. Just getting ready to replace two eyes on my Ugly Stick too. A very hood refresher for me.
Great video brother!... I'm about to tackle this on two of my only dunking rods that I have. Taking it to a shop here in Hawaii is going to cost $30 per eyelet, for each rod. I'm a DIY kind of guy, and I appreciate this video. Mahalo's! \m/
great vid i use to live in long island rhere were a tackle shop on every corner fixed guides now im in a small town in arizona i t dont even have a tackle shop now i know i can do it for my self and my friends
I got skunked twice this month, once at Pier 90 and again at Port Sulphur. I think this is the longest I have been without a post in years but will be back at it soon.
about to try this in a few days. Got the same box of eyes that you showed in video. How do you set up your reel that you are taking off the braid? I orderd a small spool of line , but now sure how to set it up to keep tension on it? thanks
I leave the reel on the bottom half of the rod and pile a bunch of books on it for weight. Then just play with the drag till the tension is right for you.
@@randallbboughton4520 That is a tough call. It was still dirty today but it might lay down tonight. I would give it just a little longer to clean up. I caught all my fish today in a dead end canal and fished for 3 more hours checking out spots without another bite.

Wow! This has been the BEST video tutorial on this subject that I’ve seen. Not only informative but well explained.
This is among the best video i have watched on repairing/ changing rod guide.
Thanks, the only thing I would add is make sure you buy stainless steel eyes if you salt water fish. I have to order new ones and replace these due to rust.
I really appreciate your video, for those that like to repair their own things, not too many people do it these days.
You’re telling me. Even basic tech repairs that are $5 will still have people buy a new device for $80 because 30 minutes is too much effort
Great instructional video. Thanks for helping keep some of our old rods in business.
Thanks
I appreciate your video, simple, easy to follow, using mostly items we should already have
Best vid on guide repair out there. Thanks!

Only advice I can add is to make sure you buy stainless eyes if you saltwater fish. I have to redo mine because of rust.
Great step by step instructions. Helped a lot. Thanks
Great video sir!!! Thank you. Best I've seen on this topic.
Excellent. I appreciate the info. I will be trying this method this week.
Great video. I subscribed over a year ago and then met you while fishing a few days after that!

I have had great success doing this and have repaired rods in use for years. Thanks for watching.

Sweet and simple😎🤙time to fish!
just came across your excellent video.how did you set up the reel on the side to put tension on braid? thanks john
I left it on the bottom half of the rod and piled some books on it for weight.

Nice work
Nice thanks for sharing
Thank you 🙏
Nice
What thread did you use to wrap on guide ring, is it okay to use braided line?
I used 20# power pro braid, only thing I would change is I didn't use stainless steel eyes and now they are rusting and will need to be redone.
@@SRadigFishing thank you so much for answering my question this will help me 🎣
Are you just using regular thread?
I bought some thread made just for this but found it to bee too thin and weak. I now use 20 pound power pro fishing braid line.
how did you get the black color after the apoxy dried
It just looks black in the picture. Out in the sun it is the green power pro color.
@@SRadigFishing thank you for replying
That looks like a Ugly Stick, I have the same problem with mine, just haven’t fixed it yet
What type of thread?
I used 20 power pro braid fishing line. Mainly because I had some, ordered some black thread but found it too thin.
Give man a fish feed him for a day.. show him how to fish feed him for life! Thank you sir saved me some money
Only mistake I made was not ordering stainless eyes, Now I have to redo them because of rust.
Since you haven't posted in a while, I'm hoping you are okay. If you are okay, the water must be really dirty.
Got out today and had success will post soon, Thanks.

Do think it is worth my coming down from BR on Sunday? It is a long way to
go if the water is dirty.

@@SRadigFishing Thanks
I think I’ll wait a week or two.
Is it possible to replace only the ceramic ring? Not the whole guide ring.
Don't know for sure. I haven't seen just the guide ceramic sold anywhere.
How did it get from turquoise to almost black after it dried
It just ended up darker from the epoxy.
