- Changing out the Transmission Fluid in your Mitsubishi Ralliart with an SST Dual Clutch Transmission is something you can do yourself and save money. In this video we show what's involved to do the job right.
Mitsubishi recommends changing the fluid every 48,000KM for severe use, but we prematurely change ours every 25,000KM due to how quickly the filter gets dirty and how expensive it is to rebuild these complicated units.

Transmission fluid changes are necessary. Huge difference in performance when it's clean.
Totally, seems premature changes on these dual clutch transmissions help a lot. The filter was so dirty and we change it at half the recommended interval the manufacturer recommend.

I wish that video was posted years ago lol. I've wasted all my money on that sst DiaQueen fluid. Damn.
I don't know if it's a waste, this is what has been working for us. The car has almost 200,000KM so it seems to work. The trick is changing the filter and fluid often.
That's a pretty nice design. The filter is accessable, and the process is not a huge mess. I really like it, although I'd like an aluminum filter system more. I also always change fluid early. The concept of "lifetime" fluids and extended usages baffles me as a tech but makes total financial sense for the company. 🙄 Lifetime=warranty period.
I agree, more metal parts would be nice to see. I wish more people would change their fluid often. Not their fault, manufacturers recommend ridiculous change intervals now.
There are aftermarket metal filters for that transmission but they don't filter as good as the OEM, it is recommended to add a washable inline filter to one of the trans cooler lines.
Is there a reason the cooler was not drained as well?
We're changing it so often, that amount of extra work doesn't seem worth it.
Why wouldn’t you remove fill plug 1st. A. Fluid drains faster B. Would suck to drain fluid then find fill plug seized.

I’ve noticed when I mix this brand with oem diaqueen my car when it comes to a complete stop shutters and turns off also turned off during me trying to put it in reverse . Jus my personal experience once I drained fluid and replaced straight diaqueen it went back to normal no more turning off problems

However It would have been a lot better for people if you showed that you need to remove the air box/intake to actually locate the fill hole. Also the particular socket required to remove those plugs as it’s not in everyone’s tool kit.
I have been informed that it is important to do this with the car at a 45degree angle for reasons unknown.
Just a little tip also: put gear Fluid IN the filter housing. Otherwise It can dry up and you can audibly hear the pump

Ahhhhh. That can be a dangerous game- if the car was running the incorrect amount you could potentially have under or overfilled it.

You guys made a great short video, just those two things I would have mentioned: the HW8 attachment for the socket, how to access the fill port and how many litres should you use? As some people will watch this and potentially go buy 10litres… hopefully not put all of it in 😅
@@jamiewalker8772 You have to do your due diligence. Pick up a service manual and it will tell the the fluid capacities.

Where can I order the castrol dual fluid . I check oriellys and auto zone they don't carry it. And how much for 8qts of. ? From your experience how that fluid working ? Cause alot of ppl say only use oem

Why does the transmax dual on Autohaus say it doesn’t fit a 2011 lancer Ralliart? Btw can I use any wet dual clutch fluids for my Ralliart?

I believe its recommended to buy only 6 bottles (6L) but 7 to be on the safe side. If you plan on draining the transmission cooler as well then 8 bottles should be enough.

Motel makes great fluids, but we have no experience with it in this application. It seems the Mitsubishi transmission is very particular.

@@AnthonyJ350 Here in Australia its available in 20 litre cans for $275 AUD. so I did a fill and drove it for about 150 kms then drained it and refilled again so I flushed it also changed the filter. $13.75 a litre.

At the transmission. I would pick up a service manual for the vehicle so you can study the basic aspects of it. That's what we do.
What year is this ralliart?? Cause apparently the one for the ralliarts are up to $130???

The sst have 2 filters that nees to be change 1 outside and 1 inside, i think the inside need to be change at 100k

@@jamiewalker8772 main reason you dont wanna drain, measure and refill, from experience here, the previous owner took it to the dealer and they put 5 quarts of atf in it last time it was serviced, and that was at a mitsu dealership. So unless you know 100% that its correct inside, you should go off those instructions, and then from then on you know measuring would be correct, or you can just do the full proper way everytime
Where do I find the Castrol bot or Transmax dual in the US?
I used the Fuchs Titan DSG last change and it is now due again.
Unfortunately as far as I am aware the Castrol BOT 341/ Castrol Transmax Dual is not available in the US, maybe through a private seller, but Opie Oils does ship to the US and Canada and thats where I've gotten it the last two times

This is whats used in the video, I got mine used, if someone local to you has one they might allow you to borrow it and there are even guys that will do the teach in for you. doesnt hurt to ask your local group. its used for more than just that

Where can I buy the Castrol transmax dual ?
Depending on what part of the world you live you might have Catrol BOT341/ Transmax Dual available from Mitsubishi. it doesn't seem to be easily available in North America and Opie Oils seems to be the easiest place to get it from that is cheaper than buying DiaQueen SSTF-I from Mitsubishi in NA.
ps: Transmax Dual isn't even listed on Castrol's US/Canada site

I am located in the U.S. and you are right I went to the the Castrol website and the the transmax dual is not listed and when I do a search I can only find it in Europe. I am going to search it with the other name Castrol BOT 341 .

Haven't used them. I prefer one time use ones.

How much fluid did it take?
It says 6L but we recommend purchasing 7 just in case. If you don't use the extra bottle you can use it for the next service anyways.
Should be 7.5 (if you drained the oil cooler also) 5.5 if you’re track day then obviously change it again

@@AnthonyJ350 do you know why “transmission service required “ would pop up then car just revs in drive or reverse. I have to turn it Mmmmm the car off and turn it back on for it to drive, scanned obd2 and nothing comes up.

@@AnthonyJ350 I fluid film my car every fall. I also keep the wait well protected and clean. I have had my 19 civic coupe turbo since new, and so far not a speck of rust anywhere. I've built up a nice layer over the years. Fluid film black is good stuff. I even fill my rockers with bar and chain oil mixed with super cheap engine oil 😂. Having a lift helps a lot. I remove the inner fender liners, pressure wash the inner fender. Then blow dry with air, then spray with fluid film. Then clean up the liners and reinstall. I also hit all the important spots in the engine bay. Then come spring time I'll degrease the engine bay and clean it all up for show season.
So glad I sold this car what a waste of money for such little power 😂
