Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your suggestion about wanting to hear the drums played with sticks and without the voice-over commentary. I understand how important it is to actually hear the sound differences between the kits to make a more informed comparison.
In future videos, I’ll definitely consider incorporating more direct sound demonstrations of the drums, allowing viewers to hear them in action before diving into the commentary. This way, you can better appreciate the unique characteristics of each kit.
Your input is invaluable, and I’m always looking for ways to improve the content. If you have any specific features or comparisons you’d like to hear more about, please let me know! Thank you for watching! 😊

Iv still use my 1st 1985 black standard pearl export kit and over time iv change from Remo to Evens top and bottom skins!! A lot of sound guys say that my kit sounds better than a brand spanking new kit!!’ I believe it’s all about experimenting with drumheads and tuning!!
Pearl drums are the best drum kits for anyone who loves playing and learning drums!!

Thank you for sharing your experience with your 1985 Pearl Export kit! It's impressive that you've maintained it for so long and have made thoughtful upgrades with the Evans heads. Your point about experimenting with drumheads and tuning is spot on; these factors can significantly impact the overall sound and performance of a drum kit.
It's great to hear that sound engineers recognize the quality of your vintage kit compared to newer models. Many drummers find that older kits, especially those that have been well cared for, can produce a unique warmth and character that is hard to replicate.
Pearl drums have indeed earned a reputation for being reliable and versatile, making them a fantastic choice for drummers at all levels. Your passion for playing and learning is inspiring, and it's clear that your kit holds a special place in your heart. Keep enjoying your drumming journey! 🥁❤️

What about Pearl Masters? I have an older kit - Masters Custom Maple and it sounds great.

    • @musicessences
      @musicessences  หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for bringing up the Pearl Masters Custom Maple! You're absolutely right, and I apologize for not including it in the initial discussion. The Masters Custom Maple is indeed a fantastic kit with a great reputation.
      Here's a brief overview:
      Pearl Masters Custom Maple:
      - Introduced in the early 1990s as part of the original Masters series
      - Features 4-ply, 5mm maple shells with 4-ply maple reinforcement rings
      - Known for its warm, rich tone with excellent projection and resonance
      - Highly regarded by professional drummers for both studio and live performances
      - Offers versatility across various musical genres
Your experience with the kit sounding great aligns with what many drummers have reported over the years. The Masters Custom Maple has been praised for its tonal qualities, build quality, and durability.
While Pearl has introduced newer lines in the Masters series (like the Masters Maple Complete and Masters Maple Gum), the original Masters Custom Maple holds a special place in Pearl's history and continues to be appreciated by many drummers.
Thank you for sharing your experience with this classic kit! It's always valuable to hear from drummers who have hands-on experience with different drum lines.

I guess it's the Pearl sound, but most of the medium to high end sets always sound tubby, boomy, and with exaggerated low end that sounds fine alone in a room, or mic'd up in a studio.
When other instruments are added to the mix, the drums seem to lack the ability to cut through with clarity.

    • @musicessences
      @musicessences  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for sharing your perspective on Pearl drums. Your observation about their sound characteristics is interesting and valuable.
I appreciate your insight into the sound profile of Pearl's medium to high-end drum sets. While many drummers enjoy the full, resonant sound that Pearl is known for, you've raised a valid point about how these characteristics can sometimes present challenges in a full band mix.
It's true that drums with pronounced low-end can sound great in isolation or in controlled studio environments. However, in live settings or dense mixes, this can sometimes lead to clarity issues.
That said, drum sound is subjective and can vary greatly depending on factors like tuning, head choice, and playing technique. Many professional drummers successfully use Pearl kits across various genres and settings.
Your feedback highlights the importance of considering how drums perform in different musical environments. It's a crucial factor that drummers should consider when choosing their kit.
Thank you for adding this valuable perspective to our discussion!

export or decate ? why ?

    • @musicessences
      @musicessences  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thank you for asking about the Pearl Export and Decade series!
Both are excellent choices, but they have some key differences that might influence your decision:
      ----------------------
      Pearl Export:
      - Made from a blend of Poplar and Asian Mahogany shells (6-ply, 7.5mm)
      - Known for its warm, punchy sound
      - Available in two versions: EXX (wrapped finish) and EXL (lacquer finish)
      - Historically significant as Pearl's best-selling kit of all time
      - Great for beginners to intermediate players
      ----------------------
      Pearl Decade Maple:
      - Features 100% Maple shells (6-ply, 5.4mm)
      - Known for its versatile, resonant sound
      - Comes with a lacquer finish
      - Positioned as a step up from the Export series
      - Suitable for intermediate to advanced players
      ----------------------
The choice between Export and Decade often comes down to:
      1. Sound preference: Maple (Decade) tends to offer a brighter, more resonant tone, while the Poplar/Mahogany blend (Export) provides a warmer, punchier sound.
      2. Budget: The Export is typically more affordable, making it great for beginners or those on a tighter budget.
      3. Playing level: While both are versatile, the Decade might be more suitable if you're looking for a kit to grow with as you advance.
      4. Aesthetics: If you prefer the look of natural wood grain, the Decade's lacquer finish might be more appealing.
      ----------------------
Ultimately, both kits offer great value for their price points. If possible, I'd recommend trying both to see which sound and feel you prefer. Remember, with proper tuning and good heads, both can sound fantastic in the right hands!

Thank you for your input! The Pearl Masters Maple/Gum series is indeed a fantastic line of drums known for its rich sound and quality construction. While I didn't include it in the video, it's clear that these drums have a unique appeal, even to those who aren't typically fans of Pearl.
The combination of maple and gumwood provides a warm, resonant tone with a powerful low end, making them stand out in both studio and live settings. Their sonic qualities are often compared to the classic Gretsch sound, with a bit of added cut that is characteristic of Pearl.
I appreciate your feedback and will certainly consider featuring the Masters Maple/Gum series in future content. If you have any more thoughts or experiences with these drums, feel free to share! 😊🥁
