- Shot over seven months or so, here is my review of the Kinefinity Mavo LF and a story of loss. There isn't a whole lot of talk about specifications, so you'll have to find that elsewhere.

The way you review is unlike anyone else in the business. Just stunning as always. Sorry to hear about the theft, this recently happened to me and it is so heartbreaking, Granted it wasnt a MAVO LF with the MAVO Primes but the way you seem so positive still is great. I hope we can see that documentary after it makes the festival rounds as well as the short film. Keep it up, i have a feeling we will be watching your work on the silver screen sooner than later.
Sorry to hear about your camera as well. Just a devastating feeling. Making the review was therapeutic. I re-watched it yesterday and it still makes me want to go out and shoot something new - which is a great way to heal. Good luck with your projects and thanks for the kind words.

Once again. One of the best camera reviews I've seen.
To have your talent constrained by the tools you use is hell. I am struggling with it right now.
But to lose that tool which enables your talent, that must be worse. I hope shit works out.
Appreciate the kind words. People complain about cameras too much but I think most people don't maximize them. Losing the camera was a blow for sure, but I'm just as hungry to keep making more work.

You're leaning in to this style and the result is so weird yet exactly what I want. I get oddly excited when I watch your videos and I think the time in-between them add to that feeling.

Wow. I hope you found an even better replacement camera. There's no question the real talent here was you, not the camera. Your composition and art direction was what made this camera shine in this piece. Very nice! Do you mind if I ask what lens did you shoot most of the footage with? Was this cropped anamorphic look or did you use an actual anamorphic lens? Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Most of the footage was shot on the Kinefinty Cine Prime lenses, but some was shot on an old-school Pentax stills lens that I adapted to EF mount. Didn't shoot anything with actual anamorphic glass so all of those moments are cropped from spherical lenses. Kinefinity is lending me another Mavo LF so I hope to post more footage soon.
Wow! I usually see gear review as a painful necessity content to watch before taking a 10K$ leap of faith..., and then I watched yours just like I watch a great short film. I know it's not the camera that makes a something worth watching, but still: this review really convinced me that Kinefinity is a solid option!

I feel you, this happened to us in 2012 after we received a brand new PMW-F3 at the time of release. It was stolen within months of ownership, only some practice footage remains, albeit we found the camera 6 years later in terrible condition and vastly outdated.
It’s such a feeling of loss. Was glad to at least have this footage to make the review.

Hey Raafi! Really love your style! Re/Connections was amazing! As a small company making corporate videos, commercials, documentaries, events and music videos, we are really interested in the Mavo LF. We bought the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 in march, but we aren't satisfied with it (several issues). In regards of the ease of use and versatility, would you recommend us the Mavo LF for the different types of project mentionned above? Thanks! :)
It's definitely a powerful camera and has my full recommendation. If you plan on doing a lot of events and documentaries then I'd recommend getting the KineBack as well so you get the XLR inputs. Thanks for watching my stuff, too.

Well, what a kurfufle. Honestly, I love this. The wackyness, the fact that you actually took stills of the awful event (having had my own gear nicked and bowing my head with a single 'f***' I know how gut wrenching this is). But, this footage is beautiful. It's just so organic. I can't make out if that is you, the camera or the lens - and so I will attribute it to a 60/30/30 split. You'll get over it. You'll prosper. You'll laugh in the face of this, but please don't harbour dark thoughts. The low life who took this has as much talent in his thumbnail compared to your cosmos. Thanks for inspiring me.

Thanks - love that shot. There's a Schneider soft-fx filter on the lens (I think it's 1/4 strength), which is where part of the magic comes from in addition to time of day, the performer, and our great location and costume. One of my fave shots I've done.
