    Been using 28 mm for a couple of years now. Instead of a stainless rod I use an 8 or 10 mm threaded rod the entire length, much cheaper. I am still experimenting with bungs but the best so far are made from rubber bungs used in home brew kits. They need to be sanded down a little but I can usually get 2 pump bungs from each home brew bung. To hold the bungs in position I used a lock nut and washer fed up about the length of the plug plus a couple of cm. The bung is added and another washer sits on that. I have ground/ filed down wing nuts to fit on the end of the rod. Be careful to grind them so they don't touch the walls of the copper. I only need to take a pair of pliers to tighten the wing nuts down sufficiently. I find pumping as interesting as the actual fishing! Hope this helps.

    another thing to stop your back aching is to make a little trolley to pull your bucket on tied to your waist its loads of help on your back it stops bending all the time just pump and walk.

    Try a 22 mil copper coupling cut in half and solder one half on the end of the pipe to give it extra wall thickness so it wont deform as easy, If you only get a few extra pumping sessions out of it it's worth it.

    Great video again, thanks for posting.
    Fully agree with taking a few washers/bungs as wel as the wrench and grips.
    I might have missed this when it came to your tin box, but I take a few spare nuts as well....drop a washer or bung and they can easily be picked up, drop a nut into the sand and its gone for good, and with no spare that's the pumping session finished.
    Keep up the great work!!
    Cheers John

    just a quick question out of the two pumps which is better for a beginner to use.

    • @m0rce1
      @m0rce1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They seem pretty much the same mate. As he mentions tge benefit of the copper one is being able to take the end off quick while on a session - due to copper being easy to cut i suppose. On the other hand i eould imagine this also means it bends faster... in any case copper pipe is cheaper than stainless sooo .....

      Lucky I would say the 28mm but it's harder work you just don't have to be bang on the money with it as it covers a bigger area If that makes sence

    Great vid my friend can i ask how do you keep the plunger rod central in the top compression nut or does it slop round ie 8mm stud in 22mm hole ?

    • @FishHunterUK
      @FishHunterUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      there's a little shoe thing in there but some people use a washer as long as it's 22mm then u can drill the whole out in the middle to what you want
