Fluid Film is my go-to. Problem is, it's just so darn expensive for how little you get. And it can take a few cans to do a whole vehicle. Could easily run you $30+ to do the job. Your alternative seems more cost effective. Thanks for sharing

Great information for us welders and wood workers too!!! So happy you are sharing secret formula. I have many wood tools this should work just as a wipe-on. I also have lots of scrap metal I keep for projects. Really great!
I can vouch for the power of ATF because my old Mustang had a transmission leak on the right side and it would run down and get on the bottom of the floor pans. And those floor pans still look like new where the ATF sat on them and soaked in.
Any kind of oil mixed with the road dirt will prevent rust well; cars that have engine oil leaks never rust on that side, or on all sides if it's the oil pan gasket, had a Camaro like that, needed half a quart every 300 miles.
I had same thing with an old 1990 K 2500 GMC . Had tiny rust through on a tranny plug . It just let a tiny mist flow back making me add a quart every couple months. I got it in 2005+- and it had been like that a while prior surely. From the leak area back it looked like it just rolled off the assembly line ! This is in Northern NY salt mine Rustbelt. The paint was perfect ! ATF is the greatest even on rusty old cars and mixed 50/50 with Acetone it’s all I’ve used for 20 years on rusty bolts. Keep it in an old spray bottle hanging on the shelf it’s better than commercial stuff nd almost free👍🏻
What was the first ingredient you used? I have transmission fluid and dawn dish soap but need the first ingredient to mix it up with. Also thought you might like to know what I use transmission fluid for. Every oil change add one half quart to your vehicle in place of half quart oil. Keeps the motor clean as a whistle.
Thanks for the great video!! I have just one question: What is this thing called Blaster? Sorry, wrong question. My real question is: Is this spray just for surface rust? Ok one more question: Should the rusty area be hit with a wire brush to remove scale and/or paint bubbles to allow the fluid to reach all areas? Thanks in advance for your responses. Thanks for making great instructional videos!!
You answered your own question, perfectly, yes, it needs to be touching the rust, so a wire brush is an excellent way to remove those scales/bubbles. Thank you so much for watching, we appreciate it. Hope you have a great evening my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
My old Toyota truck needs a little bit of this tender love. Sounds like a great project for once the snow melts and warms up a bit. Of course you don't know what snow is anymore. Old memories LOL

Thank you. What is Blaster? Is it a brand name? I need to use this on my brothers Chevy truck . Its sat for years and only start the engine time to time to keep it new. Yes its a 350 out of a z camero 69 I did see that the engine that came out is a large nickel block. I never seen one until the rebuild. Now, I want to protect the body..of the truck. So thank you very much.

When I was a kid somebody told me how they did it back then. Way back then. They would use a sprayer and spray the entire under carriage with transmission fluid. And then drive down a Dusty Clay Road. Really fast. And that would coat all of the transmission fluid and hold it in place. Poorman rustproofing right there
I want to thank you for sharing this with us on how to make the rust killer . You all always have great content on your videos. I found you all back several months ago, but I had sort of lost touch with all till I just found this a few minutes ago . bought an older Western Star semi. Been driven up north where the road salts roam and there's a lot of scale rust. It's not the $$ savings I'm as concerned with as what will stop the rust best. I can't take it apart to get into every creavas but I do have one of those air sprayers. But can i paint over it later? Seems not so much cuz paint don't stick to oil. seems there's room for a what comes next video.
To stop the rust from getting worse before you can paint it, use this amzn.to/471rj4i then once painted, use the rust killer in the video my friend. Hope this helps, have a great day. mad Mike & team
If you want that spot to last longer without rusting more you need to sand it primer and paint it, or you can use whats on the video but you will have to reapply probably every couple Weeks or months depending on how much it rains I suppose
Funny thing you may like to investigate - My truck had leaf springs 20+ years old that were covered in Lime. Looked like putty or mud, but was almost white. I scraped all that off and the steel was perfect underneath and could still read the stamped part numbers on them. So does limewash prevent rust?
Thanks, great video! Will this damage the clear finish or paint on my vehicle? I would like to dump a little inside my door panels and fender wells to stop the rust.
It will not harm a thing Fred, it's never caused us any problems with paint or clear coat! Thanks for watching and asking, have a great weekend. mad Mike & team
I used to work on those Altec boom trucks for the Jacksonville Electric Authority. They're quite an interesting and well designed piece of equipment, it should serve its ownership well if maintained properly. I just applied a patch on my 2008 Ridgeline, wheel wells and bottom of the doors which have slight amount of rust from years of Rochester winters and salt, hope it works well???
We've used this mix for years & years in some of the roughest winter situations with snow, salt etc and had fantastic results. Thanks for watching David, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
You mentioned paiting but never showed it. Do you just wipe it down and paint over it? If I want to use this for under my truck, can I paint over it after?
Great mix. Went back through vid and got exact mix. Confused about only one thing, when you mixed it up you ended up with 1/2 of a bottle. Then on the rear bumper of Zilla, you had a bottle that was full. Since I didn’t see a ton of bubbles in it I’m assuming you didn’t top it off with water. Did you just double all of the original mix you quoted to get a full spray bottle?
You are correct! You can mix up a whole batch of this concoction if you want to :) Thank you for watching my friend, we appreciate it! Hope your day is the best. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Once again I have to admit I have little to no experience. Please be kind. How long do you need to leave the rust killer on to be effective? How is the dead rust removed when the killer's job is done? Do you then apply primer and paint? Thank you
This is a spray and go method, if you want the rust removed you may as well just prime and paint it. This method is for under body rust stop. Hope this helps Barbara, thanks for watching, have a great week. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@Sweet Project Cars thank you so much. But oh dear, I am still not entirely clear. The product does not remove rust, only stops it from getting worse? When you come back to prime and paint, you will still have to remove the rust? If you dont get back to it, can the rust get worse? Or is it ok to just keep spraying it ? Barbara
I can see how this mixture would be good at stopping rust, although I would Never use this concoction on anything I wanted to paint. Even if you could pressure wash off, there are bound to be areas that if this were not completely removed, your paint would not adhere to the surface.
Can I use this to spray my under carriage and how long will it last in the North East salted roads? Thank you for your videos they are very educational for me and my children
You sure can! You can do this process every 6 months if necessary. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it, hope you have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
could this be used as an applied once a year, yearly undercoating rust preventing maintenance to underside of car, in door panels, in fenders instead of using fluid film, krown, surface shield, etc.?
Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner quickly removes rust. Its powerful 10 percent Hydrochloric Acid gel formula enables the cleaner to dissolve the heaviest rust buildup. The thick gel clings to vertical surfaces. I am a Machinist with over 30 years experience and I am super picky, trust me buy a gallon of this for about $13 and you will never use anything else for removing rust again.
As the video states, this is to stop the existing rust and buy you some time until you can get to re-conditioning whatever areas you are spraying it on. It will last on an undercarriage if applied heavy up to or around a year and a half. Thank you for watching and asking. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
I made some using your formula and it works great. I’ve had a spray bottle on my shelf for about three mounts and I’ve noticed the blaster seem to form a sludge like material at the bottom. Sometimes if I shake it really hard some of it will remix partially. Have you experienced any thing like that. Thanks Excellent video.
Hello Jim, just shake it up good before you use it, everything will be ok. Also, try to use up what you mix within a couple of weeks as the shelf life isn't very good. Thanks for watching, have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
You can use whatever you want to use, we are just sharing what we have used for years and years and years and we know works with minimal cost. Thanks for watching Jacob, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
You can use whatever you want to use, but the last thing I would want to use is something that's going to attract insects and ants. And btw, we have never had this mixture damage paint or metal after years and years of use. Thanks. mad Mike the hammer SPC
I thought u used blaster wd40 and fluid film. Which one is better? I already had a gallon of fluid film as I used to spray annually my Discovery 2 chassis. But I didn't get to for 3 years and the rust is eating fast. I was about to get a gallon of wd40 and 5 gallons of Blaster. Or should I go with this to save my chassis?
Either is a great option Only Me. We are always testing and creating new concoctions. Thanks for watching, have a fantastic day and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Great info. I plan to make up a batch and use on the inside of my van’s door panels. I use dawn for removing grease before painting and it’s good for washing your greasy hands after working on the car (use something like cornhuskers lotion afterward because it will dry out your hands)
Sounds great! We're with you on the dawn, we do the same thing to wash hands after dirty work! Thank you for watching and sharing Don, hope you have a great week my friend and all the best on your project. mad Mike the hammer SPC
What's in that Corn Huskers Lotion? I put some of that on my hands right before I went to pick up my little grandson. He slipped right through my hands. I didn't have him that far off the floor yet as I went to lift him so he wasn't hurt but I was shocked that the huskers left my skin with no grip ability. That was the first and the last time I ever used Corn Huskers. Scary stuff.

Dawn has glycerine in it which causes it to stick. Check out using chain bar oil for the same thing, that is put on with a brush or squirted. Also Dot 5 Brake fluid has a rust inhibitor it is silicone-based as does all modern brake fluid collects the moisture in the air and keeps it away from metals.
Just use this amzn.to/3Exd49N straight up dogger! It's not necessary to add the dawn, it would be a complete waste. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and asking, have a great week my friend. mad Mike

Anything that will keep the oxygen away from the metal will stop it from rusting keep that in mind oxygen is what makes the metal rust, if only we could wrap a Ziploc baggie Around our vehicles and suck all the oxygen out wouldn’t that be great

Well I'm totally embarrassed! Turns out Canadian Tire carries PB Blaster. It's similar to WD-40. I tried it on my truck and cars various squeaks and noises, even grinding sounds Etc., and they immediately disappeared. So when it comes to making the rust proofing, it simply consists of transmission fluid, Dawn dishwashing liquid , and PB Blaster. And the blaster sold for Less than WD-40! I'm hooked on it. they also have a lubricant I'm going to try.

More like car cancer 'treatment'.
But wait..the "blaster" is a secret... shhh

Nice! Thanks for watching and sharing Mark, we really appreciate it. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
I have been using ATF allot. I will try your trick out. I have also used chainsaw bar oil. I found the chainsaw bar oil to stick well.
Thanks for watching and sharing Robio! Hope you have a fantastic day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
What does the blaster consist of ?
Click here amzn.to/2OTeLYF you can read all about it Paul. Thanks, have a great day. mad Mike
Sounds great! And I gotta tell you Leonard, I will never miss that snow :) Those are old memories and we are thankful for that :) Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

It's this amzn.to/2OTeLYF Thank you for watching and sharing, we really appreciate it! Hope you have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
I'll try this. Question. If you've been using this why do you have so much rust ?
Answer. We purchased this truck in the condition you see, we are doing a refurb series to show people how to purchase, repair, then sell for profit a vehicle. If you go to the SHOW MORE of the videos description you will find links to all of the videos starting from the beginning, check it out! Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@hector nadal did you not read his comment, or just wanting to be an ass?
When I was a kid somebody told me how they did it back then. Way back then. They would use a sprayer and spray the entire under carriage with transmission fluid. And then drive down a Dusty Clay Road. Really fast. And that would coat all of the transmission fluid and hold it in place. Poorman rustproofing right there
Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Yes, I've been using ATF for years on rust! Works well on all rust....
Great to hear! Thank you for watching and sharing my friend. Hope your day is the best. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Using straight ATF, no mixing?
How often do you reapply the ATF?
Once a year!
Does the rust color go away? Or it stays

I want to thank you for sharing this with us on how to make the rust killer . You all always have great content on your videos. I found you all back several months ago, but I had sort of lost touch with all till I just found this a few minutes ago . I will be watching for more videos, so you all be careful and stay safe and keep on working and being helpful to viewers out here.

bought an older Western Star semi.
Thanks for the great tip! I have a bit of rust under the fuel door of my car. I'm going to do this before it gets any worse!
Absolutely Donna! Thank you for watching and sharing, we truly appreciate it. Hope your day is the best! mad Mike the hammer SPC
I heard something similar to this works well to loose rusty bolts. Use 50% real acetone and 50% ATF (automatic trans fluid)
Thank you for watching and sharing, we appreciate it my friend. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
It is great. Only thing is the acetone will evaporate if not in a sealed container. Best penetrating fluid that I have found.
Mike, I wish I had this formula 30 years ago..Boat trailers showed the age. I was using Boeing T-9 and that stuff cost $$$. ..Thank you..
Thanks Kyle! Appreciate your view and comment! Hope your day is the best my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
You can be sure I will be doing this to my daily driver 12yrs old & 66000 miles .

It's this amzn.to/2OTeLYF Thank you for watching and asking. mad Mike the hammer SPC
@Sweet Project Cars
thank you so much.
That's why you paint first, Rickey! Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
And why is that Rickey? Most automotive paint is oil based, I know you wouldn't want wd40 anywhere near but I'm not sure about pb blaster.
Is the pb blaster the same at my local harbor store seems like they have different covers from the one on Amazon?

Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner quickly removes rust. Its powerful 10 percent Hydrochloric Acid gel formula enables the cleaner to dissolve the heaviest rust buildup. The thick gel clings to vertical surfaces. I am a Machinist with over 30 years experience and I am super picky, trust me buy a gallon of this for about $13 and you will never use anything else for removing rust again.
You can use whatever you want to use we are just sharing what we know works and is safe for both you and your vehicle. Have a great day. mad Mike
That product safe for rubber and plastic ??? Thanks.
My only question is will this hold up on the undercarriage of a truck during winter or car washes? Or wash away mid winter and need to be re applied
Thanks
Excellent video.
Hello Jim, just shake it up good before you use it, everything will be ok. Also, try to use up what you mix within a couple of weeks as the shelf life isn't very good. Thanks for watching, have a great day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Roudup is an ecological and biological (including humans) poison. Please find an alternative.
@@Marcoosianism nah
Roundup spray adjuvant based on ammonium sulfate will do more good. Even better in drought conditions or on more mature weeds.
Roundup is glycophosphate poison. Vinegar works better for weeds
One of the best rust killers is MOLASSES. Takes time though, but never damages paint or metal.
You can use whatever you want to use, but the last thing I would want to use is something that's going to attract insects and ants. And btw, we have never had this mixture damage paint or metal after years and years of use. Thanks. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Does Medium or dark roast McCafe coffee can work better?

I thought u used blaster wd40 and fluid film. Which one is better? I already had a gallon of fluid film as I used to spray annually my Discovery 2 chassis. Great info. I plan to make up a batch and use on the inside of my van’s door panels. I use dawn for removing grease before painting and it’s good for washing your greasy hands after working on the car (use something like cornhuskers lotion afterward because it will dry out your hands)

Thank you for watching and sharing Michael, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
But brake fluid is flammable though.

I'm hooked on it. they also have a lubricant I'm going to try.
do you think any penatrant will work? I'm a fan of liquid wrench. or you think pb is essential?
