I wouldn’t be surprised if Canadians have a better feel for a real outdoorsman’s rifle! In Wyoming we use a .22 for just about everything from prairie dogs to coyotes and most of it comes with the rifle you knock around in your truck!
@bfox87 so funny story stopped in and saw a savage fv sitting on the shelf at my local gs and took it home today. Shot 25 5-shot groups with 4 different types of ammo. Had .379" average group size. Dang you and thank you! 😄
I have a Savage 64 ss and except for the way the barrel comes off it looks the same. I've looked at a lot of video on the CZ and decided not to burn $600 and be disappointed or drop another $600 in to getsub MOA at 100 yds. Great honest review Thanks
I own a 455 and a 457, they both have out shot every savage i have ever came across. Both have a less than 1 lb trigger (spring kit) i bought for $20 and installed myself. CZ uses flared pins that only come out one way, so no need for keepers, nor is that pot metal. Both have great aftermarket support from the same companies in many cases. Personally i hate that accu trigger but to each is own. The upgrade ceiling on the savage is lower than the CZ and that is just a fact.
@@pranc236 I seen dip makes an billet aluminum magwell I'll get one and fell better about it your definitely right about the aftermarket support for the cz
@@bfox87 sounds like a plan although the plastic magwell is very low on my list of things to care about. Dovetail mount for optics is a valid gripe. I got a area 419 dovetail to picatinney rail for the 457 that i love so much i will probably get one for the 455 too. Trigger spring is from yodaves and may not be as good as a timmney but it’s $20 vs $200. The bolt will slick up with a little bit of use. What ammo are you using? I ask because real 22lr accuracy comes just as much from ammo as rifle. This is where the cz starts to shine. Would be happy to direct you to some sites for quality products and reference. Keep it up and have fun. Best wishes in your builds.
Thanks again for your input. I'll get some better scores of it I still need more trigger time with it. I have a lot of practice with the savage I've shot one hole groups at 100 with it
@22guru d.i.p has them they're just on backorder, id definitely like to get that changed out. Then the trigger and barrel ect... sky's the limit with the 457 I should of mentioned that in the video. I think I was just hoping to out shoot the savage right out of the box. I'll get it there
@@bfox87 thanks man a lot of them took me a while to get together one piece at a time over years as money allowed. I got addicted real quick. I think Im in 50 Facebook groups! 😆
I have both CZ and Savages. Those Canadian made Savages definitely shoot way above their price point. That said the CZ is another tier of accuracy. It is a machined trigger box, not pot metal. My CZ bolts are beautiful, fine machined compared to a rattle loose Savage bolt. Both have their place.
iu have 2 of the b22... took a bit to find ammo for each. thet dont like the same. i have adjusted the torque and installed a tuner, i keep wanting to justify a 457mtr..BUT after watching tons of videos,,, they are pretty dang accurate
cant agree with you more.i have two savage mk 11 that i had for years shoot great with the right ammo-then i fell for the c/z hype and bought one.shoots good but more finicky with ammo due to match chamber.dont get me wrong i like my c/z but for the money i was shocked to see plastic ,and pot metal and barrel was free floated but wasnt even in barrel channel .thru several hundred rounds i dont find c/z more accurate then savage.just that c/z cost 3 times more
Loved the honesty in the video, Mark II's punch way above their price point. The problem with them is they dont have the aftermarket support that other manufacturers have. If MDT or MPA made a top line chassis you would see a lot more Mk II's kicking people in the nuts at the range! My budget Mk II FV is every bit as capable as my B14R, what limits the Savage is how damn light it is in my opinion. You are right on Brian calling out the plastic crap, it's like how I felt and still tell people today about the Bergara, "for $1100 you would think they could include a top rail and maybe a trigger that didn't suck so bad. Hope you find an ammo your CZ likes!
@MnMarine1 thanks id never really heard anyone say anything negative about the cz and I was surprised to find out there was some things I didn't like about it. But the aftermarket support will take care of that. Your right if the mark ii had that theyd be way more popular. As for the rail I'll drill and tap it if it gives me problems. Once I get some more trigger time with it and the right ammo I'll probably be cz fan boy too lol
Interesting I don't have that Savage with that bieng said Personally My 457 CZ Fac. Other Than Timney trig. is Hands down Dead Nutz Im a believer Most Accurate Rifle ever fired I have the Varmint MTR That stock is heavy Low center and Solid If I'm shooting off it's Me and or not cleaning it like it likes JMO.💀✌🏻
@nopro5433 oh yeah the cz are very accurate yours does real good too, I just would like to get rid of the plastic and drill and tap the action for the Pic rail. But maybe I'm just being picky lol
@@bfox87 yeah I try to leave it factory.Timney is a huge factor They've got these things dialed you go messing with them. You may lose a little. Again just my opinion and I'm sure that Savage could do just as good.I just find something special with the CZ State of the art in my world.👽
@cheech1557 yeah slight difference but it's there. Diminishing returns, usually spend alot for a little, the cz cost alot more and the savage isn't far behind it stock for stock. But the cz sky's the limit with aftermarket parts. Could spend a fortune just to get .1 better of a group. More to do with the shooter and ammo
Yup, MTR is same way. Plastic and I don't think that is pot metal? I only have one savage and I can't stand the mags! The trigger is about 346lbs also. I think the CZ is the better rifle by far ... why didn't you get a Bergara? Didn't you know all this about the CZ before hand? You sure stuck a ton of $$ into it for not knowing?
@CountryRimfire im just pointing out some differences. I'll get an aftermarket billet aluminum magwell and a good trigger for it. I didn't know it had plastic and the way the rail mounted before but either way I probably still would have gotten it. There are some things I don't like about it but they are things that can be replaced, I may even drill and tap the action for the rail, assembled it weights 20lb and sometimes I need to pick it up by the scope I've seen scope rings get ripped off the dovetail more than once. Overall, I really like it I just still want to change some things
@bfox87 no it has a crap trigger lol 😆 😂 I hate the rifle with a passion! I never shoot it. I think because of it I would never buy another Savage. But I see people do amazing things with them. I might one day get another. It definitely wouldn't be a cheap one lol
@CountryRimfire tommy.22lr just got one after watching this video, and he said he's putting down .3 average on 5 5shot groups out of the box. The new ones are pretty good, too bad they don't have good aftermarket support like the cz. This dude with my chassis is ignoring my messages I'm about to go get it and do it myself 😅 I like to support local business but I may have messed up letting this kid drive off with my stuff

Been considering getting a mark2. I have never owned one, but everyone says they are the best accuracy for the money.
Can't be beat for the money, with a little work they shoot just as good, they just don't have the aftermarket support to take them to the next level
