- A relatively newer series coming to the channel, this video seeks to provide a complete overview of the small size Red Seal 2 Dollar Bills - everything from what they are worth to how many series' there were to how star notes and full bill serial number run packs information. We'll start with an introduction and move to a presentation on the 1928 Red Seal 2 Dollar Bill, 1953 Red Seal 2 Dollar Bill, and 1963 Red Seal 2 Dollar Bill. There are some series runs with very valuable star notes and others that are significantly more common, so it pays to be informed and know what to be on the look out for if you are bill searching, bank strap hunting, currency hunting, or anything of that nature. These should Be worth more...if it was super common wal mart should be handing them to me as change.
Unfortunately they don't carry huge premiums, but they are still very rare in change.

Thank you for an informative and pleasant video on Red Seal $2 US Notes. I had heard it said they were "Emergency Notes" but I have no idea where that came from really. So, the red just means US Note instead of a Federal Reserve Note. Interesting, and will be looking it up to find out what this is all about.

I just picked up a bunch of these yesterday at my lcs for a great deal! I got a dozen worn ones for face value, 20 of them in average circulated condition for $2.50 each, and a few dozen in mint crisp condition(all consecutive ) for $4 bucks each-lol.

Does the serial number affect the value? I have a 1963 A that has a serial number that ends with three zeroes and is in very good condition. Would that make the value higher?

If you really want to know how much some $2 bills are worth go on eBay. Look at the ones that have made sure to have been professionally graded and have a certification. You'll find the lowest pricie would be around $10 and the highest around $12,000. And next time you hold money (or any thing from the past) that are old enough to be your parents and grandparents with your bare hands, use plastic gloves like they do in the hospital. On buying from a complete stranger you dont know if it real if it's not in a license case. Also even if it's from a close friend you can't blame them if they got it from someone else. So you get stuck with it. You will have to pay more to buy one th has has been checked by companies like PMG, PCGS or others but it will prove your item is real. And raise the price later on as time passes. Also make sure you can see what they are giving you. So you can look at it.

I have five red seal 1953 mint condition $2 bills, all have super rare defects Unique to each bill. I do believe I have the rarest red seal $2 bill from 1953 that anyone has ever seen.
Could you possibly post pictures of these defect red seal 2$ bills? Or if you would feel more comfterble email pictures to me? I don't blame younif you don't want to get rid of them but I would be very verybintrested in them. But even if you want to keep them I would still love to see them and be able to see just what kind and how seriousness defects we are talking, I just got a strap of 100 , 1963 red seals with 1 or 2 1953s mixed in that are in almost uncirculated condition, but unfortunately there not in consecutive order, they are however close lol ots like someone went through the stack and kept every other one out of it :/ :/

People might want to know, what is the difference between a 1963 and a 1963A dollar bill (this applies to all denominations and all the different letter variations)?
The difference is that the signature of The Secretary of the Treasury changed from C. Douglas Dillon on the 1963 to Henry H. Fowler on the 1963A.
The largest changes were when the Series year has changed from 1928 to 1953 to 1963.
Is there one of the two stated that is more sought after than the other? Like would like regular 1963 or 1963 A series be a more valuable bill? ( assuming you had one both in the exact same condition)

To the friendly guy, a star note is a note with a star right beside the serial number. The "A" series is usually under the date it was made. That's where you find them. Star notes are harder to find! Good Luck!

Sir your information is very incorrect the 1928 series are worth far more and even the 50 and 60 series reason being they were made by the United States Treasury Department hints the reason why over his head reeds United States of America this is real money not fiat currency made by the Federal Reserve.
In the mid-60s the United States Treasury Department stop making gold-backed currency and started making Federal Reserve paper money it's not even real currency so if you have any currency that has United States of America on it.
