    Hi there. I've just watched your review and want to say thanks since I am thinking about buying one of those laptops and your review has made me enlightened. However, due to $600 price difference at where I reside, I have doubts to go with i9. My priority is content creation, photo & video editing, etc. instead of gaming. Do you think I would experience trouble with 7945hx? And have you found a way to manipulate watt & temperature of 7945HX manually?

      Lenovo's wave of mega silent firings in early 2023 were absolutely despicable. They laid of thousands of really great people after posting record profits and bragging about moving up the Forbes list each quarter in their "All Hands" NA org sales meetings to those people that moved the needle for them. They ruined thousands of people's lives, especially those that relocated and even bought new homes during the peak of covid when Lenovo asked for their dedication to support and grow the business. Their warranty process is atrocious and considered terrible by anyone who has had to deal with service claims on top of this.

    Hello, thank you for your videos, since you give an exact and detailed explanation, although I see them with subtitles since I am Cuban and I don't understand English, could you make a video explaining how to make an undervolt for the Legion 7i pro with the i9- 13900HX, I have it with the 4070 version and I added 64GB of ram at 5600MHz but it reads them at 5200MHz, I would like to do an undervol to lower the i9 temperatures a little, which are vastly high for my taste, thank you and have a good day.

    Although I am still leaning towards the efficiency of Ryzen versus Intel, but they are very even, both in cores and in raw power. I have a question, is it possible to use the 2023 version charging block on the 2022 Lenovo Legion 7i? To consider having a powerful block and being able to transport it with less weight.

    Some people are a little bit dopey about this subject. Plastic is an insulator, and metal, especially aluminum, is a conductor, which means it'll fry your hands, as the keyboard deck becomes part of the heat dissipation system. You want plastic for the keyboard deck so it doesn't conduct heat.

    I just bought the Pro 7i, 32g memory, 4080, 1tb drive, at about 30% off on a black Friday sale. I looked for all the reviews I could find, and was wondering if I should wait for the AMD version. I'm glad I grabbed the 7i. It's replacing my Alienware M17R4 3070, that I bought after watching your review of it. It's been a great machine with absolutely no problems. I wasn't sure about going to the smaller screen, but so far, so good. Very happy with the display. I do hate to part with the M17R4 though.

      @@shitmir First thing, I love my Alienware M17R4. It's been a great laptop with no problems. But, I'd been looking at the new laptops with the 13 gen CPUs and new Nvidia 4080 GPU's. A black Friday $850 off, on a loaded Pro 7i (32 gigs, 4080cpu) was too good to pass up. I'm now, sadly, getting my M17R4 ready for sale.

      @@scottb5178 oh, alright.. yeah, good deals are hard to pass by... I am curious to hear your comparison between these two laptops in terms of noise and temps in lower and higher loads situations, like browsing Internet or movie streaming, vs 25 min or so of gaming.. they both have good cooling system, but one IS newer and more up to date..

    • @scottb5178
      @scottb5178 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shitmir I have to stop watching Mash It reviews.I got the Alienware after watching his review on the m17r4, now I bought the Pro 7i after watching his 7i / 9i comparison on Black Friday. I hate to say it, but I don't notice a lot of difference in the 2 while gaming. I'm using higher settings and getting much better frame rates, with a much nicer display, but I don't really notice it in the heat of battle. The 7i fans are a little louder, I think, but I use a IETS cooler that tends to be louder than the laptops fans. Temps stay good, in the 60 - 75 range on both. For everything other than gaming, I've been running it in Quiet mode with little if any fan noise. Even balanced mode isn't bad, but it can get louder than the m17r4 while gaming.

    • @shitmir
      @shitmir 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scottb5178 wow, that is quite an insight.. at this, one probably needs a 5 year gap between devices at this point to actually notice a remarkable and significant performance difference.
      Most likely, a very important difference that benefits this Legion is newer gen internals, cooling and longer support from this point..
      In the Uk the price gap between m17r5 snd LP7 is about 600-700 pounds.. and I have to justify it to myself, eapecially because one can hardly notice that difference paying out in practice..
      I am not a gamer (only on an ocassional weekend night off and older titles like Crysis 2/3, Just cause 3/4)), but need to appreciate my machine and be happy about it. Lenovo G770 with i5-2410m and 2GB Radeon HD 6650m has done that for the last 12 years🤣.. I think I “just” might notice some performance and efficiency advantage on 10 generation newer chips💁😀…
      But definitely, you are set for good 3 years, or until good and stable 3nm CPUs and GPUs show up.😃👍 until I get my new lappy, I live vicariously through you!

    The Legion Pro 7 can be undervolted from the BIOS using the all core curve optimizer setting or you can undervolt using AATU, also using the all core curve optimizer setting. I saw the BIOS way exists in the 7 Pro 7745HX model.

      This is false information. There is no such setting in AMD version of BIOS. AATU tool is now continued as UXTU, which doesn't have support for Dragon Range processors yet. So perhaps you are referring to Pro 7i instead.

    Great comparison and thanks for bringing this to us. Looks like that the Ryzen HX series Processors are not properly tuned in Lenovo Legion 7 Laptop, probably due to the fact they have been launched this year for the 1st time whereas Intel's HX series processors were launched last year and laptop vendors have had enough time to tune it. From the benchmarks you've shown, looks like the Ryzen processor is running at unnecessary higher clockspeed, irrespective of the actual workload. may be using 3rd party tools like like AMD APU tuning Utility to restrict the total CPU power during gaming can yield some better performance and battery life. I think this is due to the case that unlike normal Ryzen Mobile processors (Last gen H and this zen HS series) which use monolithic design, HX series uses Dual Chiplet based design just like the Desktop Counterparts and needs different degree of tuning for optimizing the Power curve.

There's massive DPC latency spikes which causes constant microstutter every few seconds. hybrid is alot better but yeah anything that runs at 60 fps the rog ally runs it better cuz the dpc latency is far lower. I averaged about 6ms on the ally vs 60 on the laptop. This is after reinstalling windows multiple times. I thought drivers were getting corrupted or something so hopefully they can fix this issue. You got one of the best battery life results on the 7945HX. I am actually shocked. Remember 7x45HX series is basically desktop Ryzen 7000 which is not monolithic. It's based on chiplets and has a separate IOD, which increase idle power draw. The intel on the other hand is monolithic but it's battery life is not much better. Compare this to AMD's monolithic chips like all past Ryzen chips including this years Pheonix range 7x40HS and the difference is night and day.

    I actually just bought the Intel version of that laptop, but it was basically because it came at an extreme bargain. I currently own a 2021 Ryzen version, of which I am so satisfied that I guess I would go for AMD again, if they only had an offer at the same price. I honestly don't know why I picked up this version now, since it isn't that much better than my current R9 5900HX/RTX3080 16GB. I just felt that the price was so attractive and with 4 years of Premium Care and Accidental damage protection, it will last for that long, and I also get the feeling that price performance ratios will only get worse from now on, and this was the time to strike. Kind of a gut feeling.
    The Legion 9 is just a sham, and a lousy attempt at market segmentation. For somewhere between double and three times the price, you get very little extra. It's just for people who want to show off, and in that case, why not go for MSI, Asus, Razer or Alienware (MacBook?). Lenovo should fire their marketing department, or maybe I am way off and there are loads of people with loads of money who wants a Lenovo Legion with a fancy metal chassis and Windows Hello.
    The only negative thing I can say about a Legion 7, is that it doesn't come in a 17" or 18" version. Well, that and that they stripped off some cost-neutral features to make room for the Legion 9. And I must admit that it feels quite stupid to lose 4GB of VRAM which is an obvious bottleneck to come on triple-A titles. That is not Lenovos fault, but why the hell does Nvidia strip down the VRAM between 3080 (Ti) to 4080. It's not exactly where the major cost lies. Oh, how we would need more manufacturers to implement the 7900M to get some competition in the laptop gaming market.
    I know the 7900M came too late, just as the RX6850M XT did, but hell would we need a range of prime gaming laptops with that combination that could compete with the same performance and the lower price of those components. A full AMD Lenovo Legion 7 and others would really have stirred the market to the benefit of all customers.

      yes, the new ryzen chips are clock for clock comparable to intel in most titles and run far faster as they are more efficient which is why you see over 5ghz regularly but the intel is often 2-3ghz due to power throttling.

  • @rudolfrall4998
    @rudolfrall4998 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thx for the comparison. I chose Ryzen version as it eas 600€ cheaper.
    Is there a risk that the hotter running Ryzen CPU leads to a tjermal throttling of the GPU, especially if you have a 4090 installed? Or is the heat from the CPU kept away from the GPU?
    And is the Ryzen still limited to PCIE 3.0? I read this in reviews but in the PSREF it says PCIE 4.0.

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      wow at 600 difference that's a no brainer. There will be no throttling at all from my experience. I have to say that from watching other reviews it really seems like Lenovo has kinda blown it with this year's laptops, at least from a fit and finish perspective. They perform great, but at these prices I have a hard time accepting them taking build quality and quality of life features away and putting them in a more expensive laptop that doesn't appear to perform any better (display aside). Congratulations on having no life yet still having the hubris and narcissistic tendencies to believe making that 'me first' comment is some kind of real accomplishment. Anyone making 'me first' comments needs to unplug and re-prioritize their life.

    Love your videos! Would you rather take the Legion pro 7 or the Alienware x16???

      The x16 is more premium and has better speakers but at least in the UK, the Legion 7 is so much cheaper, has a much brighter screen and much better CPU performance so I would take the legion 7

    Which laptop would be better to play dcs with the oculus 3 VR? The 7 8gen. Or the 7i 8 gen?

      AMD seems strong and if you want some extra battery life. It would be a great option
