I like the idea but here’s what I actually NEED: Airstream Basecamp 20X Cons: requires upgrades for boondocking - Make the chemical toilet optional; allow the option to have no toilet and no black water so I can add my own composting toilet like the Trelino Origin Large composting toilet on sliding drawer pulls which would free up space in the wet bath when showering - Optional / or include space for up to 600ah lithium batteries (or two batttle born game changer batteries) - Add AC upgrade to Dometic rtx 2000, which makes it 25-40 degrees cooler, but requires 600 ah battery upgrade - Add optional 12v Microwave - Add option for single 30 gal grey tank; requires removing black tank - Add option for fresh water tank 35-40 gal Keep: - Propane heater, water heater, stove This is what I neeeeeed as I plan to live off grid and need the extra water and battery power, plus AC that works on battery power.
Maybe add the X package on the Bambis too. Also a 360 off roading hitch on the front would be nice. I saw the Basecamp X at a show, it looks like a normal hitch which might not work too well on dirt roads. Some sort of bypass valve system to pull creek or river water directly for shower and toilet would take it to the next level in boondocking.
What does airstream have to say in regards to the dip in quality control? People/customers have been making note of appliances and such breaking down or needing to be replaced.
This 20 ft camper is almost perfect but after hearing about continuing problems from several people about the cheapo water heater, NO thanks! Why the hell Airstream isn't using quality Truma equipment? For the premium price, their customers deserve better!
Watch others on TH-cam that own these before you buy. So many fit and finish issues and catastrophic failures. Many have water/heat system failures. These are pumped out with out quality control.
Hi Tricia, it depends on the floor plans, if the X-package is included, and if the optional A/C is installed. Our blog outlines all of the options and details such as height differences - www.airstream.com/blog/basecamp-16-and-basecamp-20-floor-plan-comparison/
Looked so good but you immediately lost me at wet bath. In concept great idea but in real world practice, wet baths are such an inconvenient compromise especially on cold days.
Tell us your favorite color while youre at it. Its about as helpful. -wet baths have more to do length. Find me a trailer 20ft or less without a wet bath thats this light and aesthetically cool. Personally I feel any trailer has compromise. The have-it-alls end up these large fifth wheels I wouldnt want to drive. Its a circular debate. My conclusion: get the 20 with solar. ✌🏼
@@AS-gp9kg here's FIVE th-cam.com/video/Zn9PsU5dw0I/w-d-xo.html lol you must not trailer camp much or extremely inexperienced. Don't hurt yourself kiddo.
Fully loaded I know the 20x footer is 4,300lb. The 16x I want to say is ~3,500lb but don’t quote me on the smaller one. Might want to do a Google search there
Yeah but I can't take my motorcycle with me! 5 years ago I bought a Harley then a Ford F-150 because both companies were established in 1903. If Airstream wants my money, they have to meet my needs; as Ford and Harley-Davidson has done. Bring back the Panamerica Toy Hauler. 'We the People' will pay what Airstream wants for it.
What you lost in counter space you gaind 3 fold in storage. I had a 16 for 4 years and have been int he 20 for a year. The kitchen in the 16 seemed cool, but in reality, it was not practical. The 20 is so much more practical.
The layout of the 20 is a missed opportunity, should have kept the kitchen styling from the 16 and enlarged the bathroom with a separate shower. There is really no point in going for the 20.
I like the extra space in the 20 but the kitchen in the 16
Nice comparison video! Thank you Bryan.

Airstream Basecamp 20X
Cons: requires upgrades for boondocking
- Make the chemical toilet optional; allow the option to have no toilet and no black water so I can add my own composting toilet like the Trelino Origin Large composting toilet on sliding drawer pulls which would free up space in the wet bath when showering
- Optional / or include space for up to 600ah lithium batteries (or two batttle born game changer batteries)

- Add optional 12v Microwave
- Add option for single 30 gal grey tank; requires removing black tank
- Add option for fresh water tank 35-40 gal
Keep:
- Propane heater, water heater, stove

What is the difference in exterior height?
Hi Tricia, it depends on the floor plans, if the X-package is included, and if the optional A/C is installed. Our blog outlines all of the options and details such as height differences - www.airstream.com/blog/basecamp-16-and-basecamp-20-floor-plan-comparison/

Wet baths are not that bad calm down Ms dramatic
I mean in an ideal world sure, but I’m totally cool with the compromises made to make this 20ft trailer so capable for mid-range vehicles.

I feel you. I'm buying a Ford Transit and using it as a tow vehicle and garage.
You gave up too much space in the kitchen. There is NO counter space.
Please have the designers try to give us a better kitchen

maybe add the floor plan option. For those who work on the road, having two table tops is priceless.
