got the same problem with my 2001 Chevy Silverado z71. All but 2 or 3 nuts were loose. Tighten them up and torque them! no more leak

Do you know what the reason is for the bolts coming loose on the rear differential covers of the 2000-2006 gm trucks???

The Lexus LS400 was the closest thing to driving a Bentley or Rolls-Royce in my experience. I drove a new one at the time (1994) and I didn't want to stop driving. It was at one of the automotive proving grounds. MB and BMW were nothing compared to the 400.

Why didn't you go ahead and apply some loctite on the bolts?

I know your post is old but wanted to say that I wouldnt put threadlocker on those bolts unless he replaced them for new ones. Reason being, they are very easy to break. I replaced the gasket on my cover over a year ago. Didnt use threadlock, I just torqued the bolts to spec, marked their positions with a white paint pen. No issues and they havent moved since.

It never crossed the owner's mind to crawl under his truck and see if he can diagnose the problem himself? Instead he would rather take it to a shop where he can pay someone to finish a job that was half-assed. What is wrong with men these days?
