      Che disastri, anche in Italia molti fiumi hanno trasbordo con immensi danni. Mi sento vicina alla popolazione di Guernsay

      Brings back memories those greenhouses full of tomatoes when l worked at the Guernsey tomato board in St Sampsons back in the seventies where we palletised tomatoes before they were shipped out. Good times for us seasonal workers back then. If l remember right flowers was another big industry also, what is built on the the site now do you know?

    Heavy. Those greenhouses look as if they were already derelict and the storm then finished them off... Shame about all those lovely trees!

    Went to Sumrez park for the Donkey Derby in the summer. Seems to have been hit pretty badly. Shame about the Fresia Centre greenhouses and I guess many many more. Hopefully the damage can be repaired quickly.

    Ciarán must've had one almighty temper tantrum judging by the destruction left in his wake.

    I had a very happy school holiday on Guernsey and have fond memories of the Channel Isles. We visited tomato growing greenhouses as part of our geography lesson because it was a very significant industry back then but I understand this sadly no longer exists because of foreign competition. What became of these greenhouses? Are they still in operation and used for other crops? Sorry if this topic has already been covered but I've just surfed in.

      Lot of them area abandoned. No more tomatoes I think or just a little.

      @@brunolacoste1162 That's a pity. Seems a tremdous waste of assets. I would have thought the growers could have adopted to a different crop.

    If that is the Old fuchsia centre Glass houses I think that they have been closed for a while. I guess that it won't be commercially viable to repair them ?? Saumarez has taken a bashing. I'm guessing that there will bw a lot of trees to be cleared in the next week. Im know that my "Rellys" around the corner from Vazon had Battened down the hatches. Always good to see your Videos.

      Er I think you can’t just knock down a greenhouse In GUERNSEY also it costs MONEY 💰

    • @Snecks
      @Snecks 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am taken to believe that if you demolish the greenhouses the land reverts to agricultural only..leaving a structure on the site it may by a future planning arrangement and a change of use be used for housing...that is why there are so many derelict greenhouses dotted around the island
