yer mate you should, it's fishing great atm. In the video the conditions were pretty tough, if you hit a good day with no easterly and some cloud cover / light ripple, you are going to catch a lot!
Awesome P3. Brought back a lot of happy memories fishing the lake. Some great fishing there, too. What did you think of using the 8wt for trout on the lake?? I've been tossing around buying one. But, then again, I also thnneeed a few other rods, too. 🙂 Do you bother tieing your own mudeyes? Sympathise with your leg - I moved from a cast to a boot today. Terrible add on to a ski trip! Thanks for the vid. Cheers PP
Cheers PP, I only have a 3wt euro rod, 5wt and the 8 wt. Used the 5wt last time and it just wasnt that enjoyable - i couldnt get as much distance and that was without much of a wind to compete with. The 8wt can definitely cast a lot further, so you are covering more water and increasing your % - plus fighting is a cinch with 10lb+ leader. The only catch is casting a heaver rod/reel could be more tiring, although I didn't find that much with the echo boost and lamson reel. I tie a few flies, the pheasant tails and stick caddis etc but haven't bothered with mud eyes yet. I just buy them from the fishing shop- i like the foam body ones. Good to hear your leg is healing up as well - boot gives a lot more freedom than a cast and crutches.
@@p3p_flyfishing Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I've got a very very old 3wt, 5 and a 6 but can't help feeling the 6 is a bit undergunned for windy lakes and big flies. Pretty keen on some of the American streamers atm. But the euro is calling, too! Good problems to have. Hopefully only a few weeks to walking now. Can't help feeling I've been missing the summer of a lifetime on the water. Hope your leg is okay. Take care with it, they come back to bite you as you get older. Really enjoying your vids. Cheers PP
