This song has been recorded over 700 times, and no one has ever even come close to comparing to his performance and I don't think anyone can ever compare to Bobby Hatfield Thank you for your attention mam!!!!!!
I have to say. I am 83 years old and it makes me so happy to see you young people looking back to my youth and realizing that our music was great then and even better today. Thank you. My thoughts. If you wonder why boomers hate AUTO TUNE so much, this is why. We miss the days when singers could actually sing!
@@dougturngren5027 I remember this on the Andy Williams show. I was 7 at the time and blown away by his voice. To this day I've not heard his equal from another man. Some have come close, but that was all. I will hopefully remember his voice until the day it's my time to join him.
It's been said he had up to 5 octaves he could sing, and in this melody he used upwards to 24 different notes..naturally..don't even see ANY facial strain to do those notes. SUPERIOR MASTERPIECE!! Love this song..and him. Sadly we lost him in 2003..R.I.P. Bobby.
How does any woman listen to Bobby sing that song, or ANY song, and not fall in love with him? I sure did! I never forgot this show, I was 22 then. Sarah, I love your reaction. You have so much more to hear from Bobby and his amazing Baritone partner, Bill Medley. Have fun!! God broke Bobby's mold, there never was or never will be another like him.
The song was actually written for a movie in 1955 titled 'Unchained' & is sung by a convict who is missing his sweetheart. Many artists have covered the song but it was Bobby Hatfield's -(of the Righteous Brothers) solo version in 1965 that raised the song to a masterpiece. Incidently, for you young'uns, 1965 may sound like a looooong time ago but for those of us who were there, it was yesterday.😁
Several "singers" have covered this song since then. But Bobby's live performance in 1965 is untouchable. Yes, 1965, before auto tune or any other computer gizmos to enhance voice/tone/pitch quality. This is just raw talent. Bobby's 3-octave range is amazing and so effortless. Bobby owns this! (RIP)
What an awesome reaction. Thank you for your honesty in sharing with us. Bobby felt every word he sang so we would as well. He was a musical genius. Bobby passed away in 2003. Miss you Bobby. No one will ever compare to Bobby in my eyes and heart.
Thank you for playing the whole song, without talking over the whole thing, or pausing it. It's been a lot of years since I heard this song from my childhood. Thank you for sharing your experience. :)
This was a live performance on The Andy Williams Show for Valentines Day..I was 12 years old when I watched it on TV.. It made me cry then and still does because Bobby's enchanting and haunting voice just touches every emotion.. So glad you listened to it🥰
You might in fact have heard this song before in THIS life, because it is very popular. It's probably best known as the theme song to the hit movie "Ghost," which is a terrific film that you would probably also love
Thanks for not interrupting the play. Your feelings come through wonderfully as you just enjoy. And, yeah, most people have the same reaction to this song and fabulous performance, live on the Andy Williams variety show. By 1965 color tv was pretty common in the U.S. The Righteous Brothers were one of the great duets of all time. Each performance would involve a solo from each, this one by the great bobby Hatfield.
This song was written from the perspective of a man in prison wondering whether his lady would still be there for him when he got out. It's one of the most popular love songs ever written.
What a lovely reaction to this incomparable performance by Bobby Hatfield that transports us to another place. His emotion and soul flowing through his magical vocals. You might enjoy Bobby singing solo Summertime or even A Change Is Gonna Come. There is a Righteous Brothers duet from the Ed Sullivan Show: You'll Never Walk Alone, with their glorious harmonies. 🕊🎶❤ #BobbyHatfield #RighteousBrothers
Best version hands down of this classic song. Absolutely loved the Righteous Brothers. Their style of music was referred to as blue-eyed soul. Sadly we lost Bobby Hatfield almost 20 years ago now. He had such a beautiful one of a kind voice. Home Free just did a very beautiful version of this song. You may want to check it out.
Listen to You’ve Lost that Lovin Feeling to hear Bill Medley sing. He is the other “brother” and has a very deep voice. Their harmonies are crazy good! Other GREAT songs by them are Soul and Inspiration, and Ebb Tide
Maybe it's transcendence. The music touches your soul and reminds you of a pat existance. I've know this song my whole life and it still makes me cry. His voice is just that, transcendant. I love watching people discover all the beautiful music that I love ❤
the song to me was innocents in control from a GOD of Love, peace and unending joy, a place in the Future when ALL wickedness is GONE Forever. Soon! Mathew 6:9-15 & Revelation 21: 3, 4.
I love this song. I was 15 years old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I still get goosebumps when I hear him sing this beautiful song. RIP Bobby. We miss your beautful voice! ❤❤❤
Thanks for the wonderful respect you showed in this tribute to this angelic performance. You’re right - it really does take you somewhere special. You speak like a very psychic person. Thank you for your review Try their other huge hit - “you’ve lost that loving feeling” you’ll never be the same aftet
You couldn't tell, but Bobby was very nervous as his mother was in the audience that night and this was a live performance. He knew that he nailed it as evidenced by the lip bite at the end. The notes he hit in the end couldn't be reached by most male singers. Many, many babies were born 9 months after this performance. This is what we called, "Baby making music."
DortheyC is correct .This was made for a movie about someone in prison. THIS Performance was live no do overs. He was sheer perfection. No one will ever do this like he did.He owns this song.

Song was called WHAT'D I SAY.You'll will see their personalities along with Andy singing with them it will make you smile.
Bobby Hatfield, singing on the Andy Williams Show on tv. His singing partner, Bill Medley, was on stage with him and Andy before Bobby sang the song. When you listen to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", that you've added, you'll hear their harmonies produce a sound that no one else can match. Enjoy!
You mentioned that it sounded like a black man. The soul music genre is normally associated with black performers, but the Righteous Brothers' music was referred to as "Blue-Eyed Soul."
I love your honest and amazing responses to the songs you play. I have listened to several today and I see you really like The Bee Gees and so do I but more important you love music. I am much older than you and was so lucky to be young to hear these songs for the first time. I am so blessed to be the generations with the best music and I love to see your reaction to it.
